IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 19

Nov 26, 2017

    1. MB Lilac,
I just love all of your photos on Facebook, your website and this forum! I have been thinking of adding a "Mother" for my Iplehouse BID and KID dolls. This thread regarding the new JID body and which JID dolls seem more mature was a big help in making my decision. I decided to get an Iplehouse JID Kassia since she did not seem as immature as some of the other sculpts.

I will have to make clothes for her but I did find a dress, wig, tights and shoes that will work for now. I ordered some Kaye Wiggs 43/46cm doll patterns as you advised and will try to come up with some more mature clothing for Kassia.

Here she is with 12mm "Liberte" Soul In A Box (etsy) urethane eyes, a large Little Darling dress/tights and shoes for Maskcat Bellis. Most of my dolls are very childlike so this will be an adventure in finding the right look for Kassia as a mother.

    2. I purchase the wooden adjustable stands from Phase3Now (Wood, adjustable, saddle style doll stand for 18" dolls like MA Binnie, Margaret or Miss Revlon) on Etsy. I have these stands for all of my dolls in the appropriate size. I get the 18 inch stand for the Iplehouse JID dolls. I also have the wood and metal custom stands from Onestreasures on Etsy.

    3. @ Therese52, Eyes with smaller irises would make her look older.

    4. @Therese52 - I have Kassia as well, and consider her to be one of my younger-looking JID ladies. However she can pass for older depending on what she's wearing. Mine also has 10 mm eyes.

    5. Do you have any suggestions for the brand and size for JID dolls for eyes with smaller irises?

    6. I did find some 10mm eyes from Captured In Glass which do make Kassia look slightly older. Still working on finding a wig which looks more mature. This wig is from Lullaby Poem.

    7. I frequently use oval glass eyes or Eyeco eyes. There are a number of companies that make eyes with smaller irises but I haven't bought from many of them yet!

Those eyes do make her look a bit older.

    8. I have a DT girl body that was changed into a boy's. Problem is the hands still very lady like. I was thinking about getting JID Boy hands to replace his current hands. What are the dimensions for the hands? I need length, width and around wrist.
      Thank you in advance.

    9. I found a pair of 10mm green glass Glausagen eyes for Kassia. They seem to have a slightly smaller iris. Here she is in her Pirate Queen gown in the bayous of New Orleans, waiting for Jean Lafitte.

    11. New to Iplehouse but I'm wondering how exactly does their layaway works? Their site kind of confuses me

Also, does anyone have tbe new girl body? I'd love to see more pictures of it

    14. Hi! Can I ask an Iplehouse-newb question?

I impulse bought this cutie at a swap meet - Tatiana with a really neat metal arm paint job. She's on one of the early bodies. Can anyone recommend a tutorial to improve her posing? Especially her knees and elbows.

(Excuse the yarn. We were picking colors for a yarn wig for her.)

    15. Some time ago @MB Lilac posted a photo of how she modded her JID torso at
the hips. Well, today was the day!! I’d gotten Violet out to try different eyes and
she frustrated me all over again with her wiggly head and strange legs. So I took
her apart, brought out my dremel, and went to work. What an incredible difference!
I should have done this restringing mod a long time ago! It makes the JID a joy to
handle! No more floppy head and upper torso, and her legs behave decently now.

*THANKS So Much* @MB Lilac for taking those photos and making this easy!!
Now Violet might actually get some dresses made for her!!

    16. You're very welcome! I'm glad you were able to do it, and that it made such a difference. All my JID ladies get drilled, although I didn't actually do the modding myself. My face up artist does it for me.

I don't understand why IH doesn't redesign their JID girl bodies so they can be strung properly. It wouldn't be that difficult. The only other dolls that are strung like the JID girls are the BIDs, but being so much smaller, it doesn't seem to be a problem with them. But I wonder if the new BID bodies are still strung like that, or if they've changed it to the more 'traditional' method?

    17. I finally had some time to sew for Iplehouse JID Peach Gold Kassia. Thanks to MB Lilac for her great stretch top and shirt JID patterns! A new Monique wig also made Kassia seem older as a mother for PG Bono. Here they are on a walk in the woods.

    18. @Therese52 what is that kind of backdrop made out of? They seem handy. Is it hard to sew in this size?

    19. @Therese52 - your Kassia looks so much older now. It's amazing what new clothes and wig will do. Your Bono has a definite 'family resemblance' to her 'Mom'.

    20. I keep forgetting this thread. I finally worked on my original Tania by giving her modded teeth + new face up. Still have to do her body blushing and possible tattoos. I haven't decided a name for her since I have a damaged Tania head that needs to be restored, and I thought that one could be Rose instead of this one.

    21. How are the JID's doing? Annika and Milo are remembering the beautifull summer days, becouse now it is rainy fall.

    23. Every one's JIDs look so amazing! I am very impatiently waiting on my two girls Faline and Asa. I want to take photos so bad of them haha.

    24. Roterwolkenvogel Thank you! Pazuzu looks gorgeous as always!
gaurweth What body did you ordered your girls, the new or old one?

    25. @chibi-kagu I ordered Faline with the new body type not knowing there was an old body type and I found Asa secondhand with the old body type. I am now waiting impatiently waiting for them to come home so I can compare them haha.

    26. gaurweth Oh that sounds interesting, please share the compare over here too. Hope your girls arrive soon!
AntarelNefertili Beautiful girl over there, looks little bit mystic!

    27. I got my Asa today! I cant wait to get some good photos of her. It looks the like the previous owner sueded her and I think her breast joint was glued down but she seems to pose well enough so since she can pass for a boy I think I will make her my cosplayer/con buddy. I will post photos of her when I can!

    28. Hello everyone, I want to buy Iplehouse Daniel. However I heard that the mobility of Iplehouse body is not very well. So I would like to get any negative or positive feedbacks. Thank you! :)

      Have a nice day!

    29. I own quite lot of Iplehouse.... including Daniel. The JIDs aren’t so bad compared to the larger ones. With tight stringing and proper sueding, they can pose decently. It just knowing the tricks on how to get the joints to poses. Mobility legs has more range than the non mobility legs. They’re not a horrible posers, but also not the best. But their aesthetic makes up for it.
Daniel is one of the lovely and popular sculpt for the JID boys.

    30. Thank you so much for your reply. It's really helpful. Which doll do you think is the best poser?

    31. I can’t really say. I am really biased about Iplehouse seeing that they take up about 75% of my collection. JID and SID in my opinion are better poser than others, mainly they aren’t that too heavy. As for other companies outside Iplehouse, I own 5Stardoll and Angel of Dream. 5stardoll MSD can almost equal with minifee in posing, which I accidentally found out with my own 5SD MSD and they happen to be single jointed! Impressive, eh? Of all dolls in BJD-dom, fairyland has the best engineering for posing. Loongsoul comes in next as well Souldoll. I’ve owned both before and find them very well done.
Again, I am biased about Iplehouse, as it’s occasionally coined, Ipleddicted.

    32. I have many iplehouse dolls in EID, SID, YID, but I only have 1 JID male. As cloudsorano mentioned, iplehouse dolls have a bit of a learning curve in terms of posing ability, but it does improve greatly with a tight string and some sueding.

Learning how their joints work is half the battle, and finding clothes for these big MSD boys will take the other half. The muscular type body (which is the one I have) is too big for most MSD clothing, so unless it is stretchy fabric it won't fit.

Another benefit of a JID is its ability to look young/old, depending on their style.

    33. Thank you for your advise! It’s really helpful! Actually, I heard the same thing from others as well. Finding cloth is a little bit challenge.:atremblin

    34. when it comes to bjd's posing always depends "ultimately" on the HUMAN. I suck at posing not matter how 'posable' a doll is. It's about practice and patience.. CAN iple's pose? YES... you just have to find your way with them. Some can't pose an Iple to save their lives. Some can twist them up like they are acrobats. I'm barely able to do it but if i put time into it I can. Also ... mobilty joint... you need it for posing... sueding helps to I hear but none of my dolls are. You also have to learn how to shoot (pics) from the best angle to make things look as close to natural as possible. And what looks natural to a camera may not be what you think. Reality often looks odd but the camera sees different.

    35. I can't help too much since I have one JID girl and one EID boy but I feel like the JID I have poses well enough even with my lack of experience but it also looks like the previous owner also sueded her.

    36. I think the JID's are allright posers. It can be sometime's tricky yes, but with patience and experience you can get nice pose's. I really should string and suede my JID's again. They are starting to feel loose and wonky, so right now it's nerve wrecking to get them keeping the right position. Well I think I haven't done the stringing with those in 4 years, so yeah, it should be a time for that.

    37. Would someone here help me please?

I have a real skin IH JID Ryan. Recently his left foot
broke; the tab where the tension string attaches
broke off. My problem is that I didn't purchase him
from Iplehouse but from a friend. This was some
6 years ago. I'm no longer in contact with the person
I bought him from and I didn't get his CoA so I can't
obtain a new foot from Iplehouse.

Might someone here with a real skin JID boy be willing
to get a new left foot from Iplehouse. I will cheerfully
reimburse you fully and some extra. I'll even send it
in advance once you've established the fee.

      Thanks

Poor Jeromé is finally in the possession of one full outfit  Only took me like 1 1/2 years but I guess he should be thankful not all money is going to Pazuzu?

    43. ResinRapture That is just really cute! The next pic that he is helping her over the puddle?
Roterwolkenvogel Oh wow, he's gorgeous! Better late than never. Would love to see Jeromé and Pazuzu in the same pic. ;)

    44. While I can't give you only Pazuzu and Jeromé, I can present Pazuzu and her minions... which includes Jeromé

    45. I purchased a new outfit from an Ebay seller for my JID Peach Gold Kassia. It was listed as fitting a Kaye Wiggs MSD but fits Kassia well.

    47. Great picture! I love the shirts!

    48. All the Jerseys (the ones on your BIDs, too) are amazing. I love them. Did you make them?

    49. Most of the SartoriaJ clothes are made to fit the Iplehouse FID dolls.

    50. A few of them say FID but the majority say MSD which I take to be JID.

    51. Ghey are better at listing what doll an item fits on their etsy shop. I haven't seen a JID listed for any outfit.

    52. I've not looked at their etsy shop. I will!

    53. Unfortunately, all those that are marked for Iplehouse appear to be for FID. The Etsy shop has no items listed for JID, so out of luck there.
