IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 19

Nov 26, 2017

    1. Oooh, congratulations, @Dustbunnie! He is a cutie!

    2. Thank you IngieBee. I'm a little worried though. I mean I have 18 unattached MSD girls so most likely there will be some fighting once he gets here. I fear several of them will think he's their mail order groom. I can but hope it won't be too bad. :eusa_pray

      Dustbunnie

    3. That can indeed be a problem. When I got Kyle several of my
girls wanted him. Got a bit ugly for a bit....

    4. LOL, that's funny :D

    5. Hey guys! Does anybody know of an MSD masculine guy with an Asian looking face sculpt who would go well (size/height wise) with JID Asa?

    6. I couldn't really find an answer, but I'm absolutely in love with the JID Fantasy Violet from their The Addiction line. Is she a seasonal doll and is produced every year, or is she a limited run that is no longer produced ever? I'm smitten with her sculpt, so I'd love to know! Thank you!

    7. You can get Addiction Violet through Doll Choice during the first 15 days of each month. Just go to the header on their site where it says 'Doll Choice', click, and choose the JID Girls. Addiction Violet is in there. Her sculpt has a $30 surcharge, and Doll Choice is already $50 more expensive that the Basic JIDs. However it's the only way to get her, unless you are willing to wait until possibly the end of November when Iplehouse usually has their Holiday Event when Doll Choice dolls become the same price as their Basic line.

    8. Thank you!! I was planning on getting her around then anyways since I was going to save up and I expect it to take till then. I'm glad there's a way I can get her, she's 100% my new favorite sculpt. That's very nice Iplehouse does that, even if she is $30 extra it'll be worth it IMO!

    9. do note you CANNOT get the wings or the torso part for the wings... ONLY the head

    10. I only just saw this reply, but I wanted info on the drilling mod since it's what I felt was necessary as the thicker elastic/different knot method just didn't do it for me personally. I've since done the drill mod and she poses better than I could have hoped for actually...

    12. Hi folks. I knit these two outfits and wanted to share pictures. They give Sierra a touch of elegance.

    13. Oh oh... this hopefully gonna be good!

    14. ... oh shit?

    15. If I like him indeed cause I have officially run out of space

    16. I suspect this pair will be Red Riding Hood themed, since they're gonna be releasing a new KID. . though I could be wrong. I really am interested to see what this fellow looks like though.

    17. I think Eden will look pretty mature. Just look at that mouth and chin. And I just ordered Boris. . . .

      Dustbunnie

    18. Oh, I hope he is a mature guy. They need one to go with some of the older looking JIDs.

    19. They say he is a "Young boy", so I doubt he'll be 'mature', as much as I wish he was going to be.

    20. well you called this one right... but with now 'wolf' in his face they 'could' have gave him a tail... they did it with the SD for the 'circus dolls so 'not NOT' doable... oh well ... it means I am safe ... thank god lol Oscar would kill me if i pushed him off to another year LOL.

    21. Well, he's definitely not what I'm looking for. Which is just fine, because I have my eye on another doll at the moment.

    22. He is a tad adorable but I am not sure if I should get him or wait and see if they do werewolf theme in another size...

    23. I think, with the right faceup he could be pushed into mature-ish territory. Not as mature as some of their older sculpts, but he isn't too childish either. He could pass for an older teen or a young adult that still has a bit of a baby face.
Either way, he's a gorgeous doll.

    24. Ah I had hoped for a more wolf-ish head, like snarling! Or if we go Red Riding Hood, at least a grandma nightie as outfit

    25. After checking out the pictures of the new JID girl body it looks to me that it have new elbow joints. I hope IH will improve the JID boy bodies as well because the old hidden joint system in my Joshua are so annoying!

The SID model body is awesome to pose, I just love posing my SID Rania boy's arms :3nodding:

    26. Breaking the wolf discussion with some Pazuzu - I am going to the 115th Harley Davidson Anniversary in Prague next month and want to bring her... so I tried out her "biker babe"-outfit  (She's on a Souldoll Vito body for this, the JID body just does not fill tthe suit as nicely)

    27. I really love Eden. My Faline should be here soon and a "brother" for her would be cute.

      • x 1
    28. Roterwolkenvogel she looks amazing! :aheartbea

I'm somewhat dissapointed in Eden. He has such a beautiful mouth and chin, his eyes are really nice too but his face is too short making him look younger. Well at least I don't have to desperatly try to find the money for him.

      Dustbunnie

    29. Eden is disappointing to me, too. I guess I have to keep waiting for IH to make another JID boy. None of the currently available ones talk to me. The only thing I know for sure is that I definitely want a boy in peach gold.

    30. I guess it's good news that they are finally making a new JID guy, since they haven't in years, so at least we know the size isn't dead. However, I want a mature-looking guy, and this one is definitely not.

    31. I saw in the mail that new JID -boy was realeased with wolf -theme and did get excited, maybe finally more mature boy. Then watched the pics and he's nice, but looking just cute wolf. It's true that with different make-up makes more mature looking, but still not enough to "have to buy" reaction for me. But gotta agree with MB Lilac for atleast the JID-line is still someway alive.

    32. Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread. I really love Iplehouse dolls and I'm thinking about ordering a JID boy. Not sure which one yet because I want him to be a specific character. But for now I will keep an eye on this thread to see all your beautiful dolls!

    33. Oh that was fast! My Sierra on the new JID girl body have been shipped :3nodding: And about Eden, I think he's really cute. If Iplehouse had a more child like JID body, age 8-10 so I could make him a part of my SD family, then I'd definitely consider buying him.

She's so pretty:D Would have been cool if IH had made more mature looking JID boys and girls.

@Aileen.love The Iplehouse dolls are so beautiful! I definitely recommend them :)

    49. Where do people get their JID girl clothing, there's almost nothing on the IH site and they are nonstandard for 1/4 dolls. Also, does anyone find it easier to get clothing for new girl vs. original?

    50. I bought some knit shirts from guppykisses on etsy that fit the old body well. She doesn't have much listed for JID. However, I messaged her about some of the shirts that were listed as MNF, and since she has a JID, she could make them in the right size. I purchased some yesterday from BlackCarouselBJD on etsy as well, but it can be a challenge to catch her shop open. I haven't tried it myself, but I've read that some of the clothes on Alice's Collections can be order to fit your doll. When you are on their home page, there is a graphic that says custom size outfits that has info on it.

Other than that, I have no idea, and I would love to find some places!!

    51. She is beautiful! She looks so sweet and innocent ^^

    52. Ok need some advice. I think I have decided on a JID Violet. I like her mature look for my character idea and the size is what I am looking for. Are there any issues you can think of that might come up with the JID girl? I'm open also to FID, ResinSoul and even MiniFee and SD Midi, but a combination of what is available to order now and the proportions/maturity I am looking for make Violet look right. My only concern is getting clothing but I think, correct me if I'm wrong, the most important part is getting the look of doll that I'd like and building from there. How likely is it Iplehouse will abandon JID in favor of FID, since FID has so many more face sculpts and is newer? I might not like to have something that becomes a marginal type of doll as far as getting clothing but that is not a top consideration.

In addition to other minis I have considered 1/3 size dolls. It seems like the 40 cm size fits more with my parameters as far as where to display her, ease of transport, etc., but if anyone has opinions about that please let me know.

Any feedback is helpful. This is an important decision for me.

    53. Yes, you definitely should start with a doll sculpt you love, and as far as 'mature' goes, I'd say Violet and Isar are the most mature-looking of the JIDs.

      Things to consider - in no particular order;
      - I don't think IH will abandon the JID size. They just introduced a new, younger looking JID body, which is pretty much a larger version of their KID body. If anything, I think they might go in a younger direction, instead of adding some new mature sculpts (like I've been hoping for forever)
      - yes there are way more FID sculpts, but that's because they've been shrinking their larger dolls. FIDs are just smaller versions of the bigger sculpts, whereas JID sculpts are unique to their size.
      - The current JID lady bodies are strung in a frustrating way, with the legs tied to each other, instead of the elastic going right up through the body to the head - like every other BJD. But that's an easy enough fix if it bugs you. I've had all my JID girls drilled so they could be strung better.
      - The smaller sized dolls - JID and FID - are definitely easier to take along for photo shoots.
      - The choice between FID and JID is one of personal aesthetics. Do you prefer a more 'doll- proportioned' character, with a bit bigger proportioned head (JID), or do you want a more realistic proportioned 'fashion' character with very long legs (FID). I personally love the JID aesthetic, and prefer the JIDs for my photo stories, and my FIDs for one-off fashion shots.
      - as far as clothing goes, I can't really say, since I make all my own. Iplehouse does not offer much at all, and JIDs are harder to find clothes that fit, since they are 'chunkier' than the standard MSD. I'm not sure if FIDs can wear Raccoon doll outfits or not. You'd have to check the 'What fits..." threads. However, if you can sew, then it won't be an issue either way.
      - I wouldn't worry about being stuck with a stand-alone doll. You can always combine your Violet with dolls from other companies. I do it all the time. My Kassia has a Limhwa boyfriend, and my Kyle has a Narae.

      Hope this helps.

    54. First off, let me say I love my JID girl. I have Violet and Cordelia in normal and real, both colors look beautiful in person. I love the way the adult shaped body looks, love Iplehouse's resin, and have been very pleased with the face ups I got from them.

Iplehouse has told people here repeatedly they are not getting rid of the JID in favor of the FID, but until recently, I felt like it was a toss up. Based on the fact they finally released two new JID dolls, I think the line will continue for awhile. The new girl was on a new, more immature body, though, so between that and the lack of clothing for the mature body in recent months, it's hard to say if they are going to regularly release clothing for that body. I don't feel great about that, but that is just me. It can be kind of hard to find clothes for them. I know I've found a few people on etsy who make clothes, and some of the people here have done commissions.

As for the important part, it really depends on the person. For me, I'd rather have the doll (sculpt & body) I want and worry about clothes later. Some people aren't happy if they can't find a wide variety of clothing. Some people emphasize an extremely poseable body over face sculpt. I think basically you just have to decide what is most important to you and work from there,One thing you might want to consider is if you are going to want more dolls to go with this one. The FIDs all have a pretty mature look like Violet, but the JIDs often look younger. That can be changed some with face up and styling, but it doesn't hurt to consider it. I think basically you just have to decide what is most important to you and work from there.

Anyhoo, hope I didn't make it worse and at least somewhat addressed your questions, lol!!

    55. What are some good doll stands for a JID girl, or type of stand if not a specific recommendation. Thanks.

    56. I use saddle stands for my kids while they're resting on the shelf.
When they're in front of the camera they stand on their own.
