The good news is if they keep the old body, there will be one for either the young or old characters. My only disappointment is that I worry this means no new mature body for the JID girl. I just can't imagine that they will make two new ones close together.
@Roterwolkenvogel - Decently enough, but I'd take "pin-headed" realism over bobble heads any day. Though replacing a whole collection would be tiresome. @Jany - Ok, hobbits are a pretty good idea I'll admit. @Lady Tiku - Well four years ago I had no idea what a BJD even was, and it was at least another two year before I knew Iplehouse even existed. I pretty much stick to SDs so forgive my ignorance about MSDs. :/ Why would I read the Doll Choice description if I have no interest in them? Those particular dolls do not "prove" anything, they only cement the fact that children/young teens done up to look like adults absolutely disturb me and make me very uncomfortable. @Dustbunnie - When I was 12, I was flat as a pancake, and now even in my mid-20s I'm not even an A. More small chest options!! I want children/young teens to look like children/young teens, not jail-bait.
I like the fact that Iplehouse is offering more options for their customers to customise the doll to their liking as quite a few of the JID sculpts seem to be able to pull off being either a child or a more mature character depending on the face-up and style chosen for them. Personally I prefer the newer body option, though I was hoping to see the older one updated a bit as well. I do not own a JID as my current Iple crew consists of only SDs, but I have always wanted to get one. Maybe one day...
That's in a way exactly my point. People are not the same. Big breasts doesn't nessesary mean adult and small breasts doesn't nessesary mean young teens. The more options we have for bodies the better. Dustbunnie
Anyone know when they started using the new body? I ordered my Cordelia on February 24. I ordered small breast, but I like the old body (broader shoulders) better.
I don't think they'll send you the new body without asking you so dont worry. Also pics of the new body seem to be pulled from Iples site or am I just blind? @MB Lilac I must say I love that studio diorama! And she looks perfect
@Bundles - don't worry, you'll get the body you ordered. Someone asked, and the new body will become an option - and not replace the current one - so that means we will have a choice. @Roterwolkenvogel - Thanks! I just posed them in the Art Gallery setting that's part of a LONG ongoing artist story I've been doing. Hopefully I'll get done this week so I can take it down and move on.
Thanks @MB Lilac! I'm glad to hear that. As for your art gallery setting - it's so beautiful and detailed and perfect. What will you do with it when you take it down?!
Reply came back . KEEPING BOTH BODIES .. now you have a choice. if you would like to see an in scale 'teen' size (think 55 ish cm and able to do the 13-17 age range better) hit the Q/A board with requests!
I've been doing a lengthy artist series the past two months, so it was worth creating a proper room setting. I'm almost at the end - just one more set of photos to take. Then everything will get cleaned up. My sister painted all the tiny paintings (they were a Christmas gift) and they'll get hung as a collage on one of my walls, where I'll see them all the time. Furniture and props just go back into storage until I need them again.
5 years ago i didn't have dolls either... but i 'learned' by reading all i could. And companies 'design' dolls to achieve a look... I also read the history of the company.... i did research... everything I know is because i decided to learn about my hobby... I don't like/get all types of dolls but i try to have a basic understanding and go deeper in my companies of choice... it's to a person benefit to know what they have and can get. I read all sections for any company I have a doll i like from... Having no interest in something is not a reason to not have a working knowledge of the related things. But i suppose that's just a hangover from my generation... sorry to offend. Although the time frame is not an excuse.
She has quite a few artist dolls - that we made together - but she's not into BJDs. Years ago we made OOAK art figures together - she did all the sculpting and painting, and I did everything else (clothes, wigs, props, etc) Until she decided she no longer enjoyed sculpting. Here's a sampling of some of the dolls we made - Welcome to Martha Boers & Marianne Reitsma Fine Art Then I discovered BJDs and found a new outlet for my costuming.
@Lady Tiku - Are you implying I've not done my own research? Because you bet your arse I did, research is sort of my thing. But only for the sizes that interested me. MSDs, and smaller, even more childlike dolls utterly creep me out as I have mentioned and as such I have stayed away from them. I have given talks about the BJD community and care and maintenance of dolls at conventions almost every year since I got into the hobby. Believe me, I researched everything I could, and I still love researching to this day. But I refuse to research something that I find disturbing (it's not just a lack of interest) within a hobby that allows so much freedom. My JID is actually my first (and currently only) Iplehouse, but I'm an expert with big DollShe guys because that's what I tend to collect. See what I'm talking about here? I have a niche. And clearly you do too, though ours differs greatly. You're the one using your generation as an excuse. You're assuming that mine is utterly useless and incapable of information gathering when it comes to things they are passionate about. Irrelevant to the argument at hand, but you Boomers just love to bitch and moan.

You and your sister are amazing. So much talent in one family, I'm jealous. I love my sisters very much, however, artistic is not a word that could be used to describe either. They're always getting me to do the artistic things for them...lol. Thank you for the link and your figures are amazing. I love all of them, as I do your Iplehouse family. I saw the Art Class on the BID discussion and your photo is wonderful. Thank you for showing it.
Thank you for the link. I really enjoyed looking at all the figures. They are amazing. WOW! That is beautiful! Dustbunnie
Both my sisters are artists. One is a retired teacher and she does beautiful watercolours. The one I made dolls with, is a graphic artist, and does pallet knife paintings in the evenings as a hobby. I could paint too, but I prefer a 'clean, dry' medium like working with fabrics - so I stick to doll costuming. I've been doing an ongoing photo story (started in January) of one of my dolls (a Narae) as an artist, giving art classes to the children. So, no JIDs involved (yet) so I've not been able to post any pictures here. But you can check out the Blog on my website
Oh, I love her new dress. Pazuzu always has the most wonderful clothing. I'm always jealous of artists, goodheartedly, of course! You all make such beautiful things. My head isn't geared towards creative at all, but it's lovely to be able to enjoy the creativity of others.
I love it! The old JID body never seemed to fit in plus I just admire their sculpting work on it. To be true I think I getting her as a bigger sister for my BID (she´s so alone as she doesn´t fit in my crew at all but she is such a cute button). Man Iplehouse.... I´m waiting on enough dolls currently x,x
Still not fond of the new one tbh. But eh, maybe it poses better than the old one? (Not that this would be hard to achieve )
I think it's nice to have an option, but I like the old "mature" body more. That would be great if they could make some improvments on the old JID -body, but I think it's just gonne be wishful thinking. Also little bit scared for that new "child" -like body, there will be only child like face's released. I hope I'm wrong about that, it's nice to have some variaty with older and yonger face's and bodies.
I much prefer the old body too, but will withhold final judgement until I see the large breast option on the new body (I couldn't find it online - have I missed something? I do love Faline's sweet face, though I don't think I would need the fawn ears so that hopefully means I can wait to see if I want to buy her later in a basic option.
You can see the two breast sizes if you go to Iple BJD - Body Review - JID New Type Body. You have the option now of Deer head or human head, but Faline is listed as Limited so there's no telling if you'll be able to get basic Faline later. There's also a limited edition new JID body with a choice of JID or KID head. Click on Iplehouse Limited Doll to find it. I love Faline's face but I'm not a fan of the new body. It looks like an enlarged KID body. I expect the new boy body--when they get around to releasing him--will look like a KID, too.
I'm really liking the new body and Faline. The older body was so mature looking, though not that that's necessarily a bad thing, it's just nice to see something more childlike.
Thanks for explaining how to get to the body comparisons! Having now seen both bust sizes, I definitely agree that the new body is just too young for my taste. It seems an odd choice too - I agree that its shape looks quite like an enlarged KID, but looking at the complete lineup of body shapes at the bottom of the page, it doesn't seem to fit in with any of the others. The bust seems just slightly too mature to work as a young child alongside a YID or SID doll, but too large to work in scale with the old JID/KID/BIDs. I still love Faline's face, but I wouldn't want the new body so that makes it easy to not but while she is a limited edition. I might still get her if she is ever added to Doll Choice on the old body though.
I'd be really surprised if they made the old body available again, except perhaps in an auction situation to get rid of a body they have on hand. Of course you could always query them and see what they say. It can't hurt to try.
The basic dolls and the doll choice still have just the old body available though (even tho the new body measurements have been added). I hope they will at least run the 2 bodies in parallel until they see what is most popular. Otherwise I think they'll have to retire even more JID molds - Violet for example would look really silly on an immature body.
I'm really hoping they won't retire the old one. I had plans on getting the fantas Violet head with body around Christmas but sure as hell not on that immature one
I have a feeling it is due to the recast of the JID dolls (seen way too many recast video's on YouTube and it is down right scary!), that could be the reason, or they are just going in a different direction and style too.
BOTH BODIES WILL REMAIN This was one of hte first questions asked and answered... Unless someone has asked and got a "different" answer. Here is the relvant portion of my Q/A (i cut what applied to an order of mine) New Body? Written by admin Search 3 Date 2018-03-26 16:11 Dear Janette We are only adding the new body as an option. We will sell the older lines as before. .............. As for the new look... they have lost 3 sculptors responsible for the look we are used to AND one of the main face up designer's/artists... They have new artists that's all. The artists gone are now Dollits, Raccoondoll and i forget the third, and the face up artist is also now independent.
@Lady Tiku - The third is Creature Doll, who is already closing his business after only one year in operation, citing health issues. He leaves his dedicated collectors sad and bereft.
aww that's too bad... I hope it's not 'too' serious and that he can come back to doing dolls... Frankly it would be good if all it was was over work stress and he can work out a way to manage things better...
Me too. It might well be work stress...I got the impression he was trying to do everything himself. You'd think after working at both Iplehouse and SoulDoll he'd have a good idea how to manage a doll business. Maybe he'll go back to one of the doll companies after a while.
lol artists and business do not always mix well lol... and i'd say iple needs him but ya not with the current direction they are going... didn't know about Soul doll... but then this was the one i could not pin down to start with lol
Hey everyone ! I wanted a bit of photographic advice has anyone here done the drill mod on the torso of the older JID body? I'm legit sick of how my Soa just swings around and has no lower body balance (stupid ankles and no connected stringing ) I'm wanting to string her like a "normal" BJD but I'm not 100% sure where to drill the holes, since she has her peg/lock system in the same place... any ideas?
I've said it countless times that it is not necessary to drill a JID girl body to rectify the floppy leg syndrome. Restringing with thicker elastic and tying the leg stringing with a different knot that lays flatter than an "over hand knot" will make her body pose wonderfully. The details for how to do it were shared on DOA several times. Presently I'm in the process of retaking some pictures and rewording the instructions for clarity.
Is there a reason why there is almost no clothes for the JID girls and boys? They are a bit hard to find clothes to so I hope Iplehouse won't stop selling clothes for them! Haven't been here for so long I still have my gray skin Joshua (JACY), but he's a bit difficult to take pictures of with his dark clothes and black hair. I also have regrets about his face-up. R_J_C by ManabuLi010, on Flickr But here's a little picture of him anuway, hiding those awful blood red lips. He's with his doll (Clara) and his friend (Robbin). I had no plans of ever getting another JID doll. But that changed soon after I saw the new JID girl body. Once I saw it I just had to have it! I think with the small bust it looks like a tween body. And that's a good thing because that'll make the JID girls fit in with the IH SDs. I currently have a YID Lucian, and I really want a Kassia in peach gold skin on the new body, with the small bust. I think she could be an awesome little sister for him It wasn't in my plans but I'll order her in the end of the order period of the new girl body. Can't wait
Thanks! And of course, with one doll in a Victorian outfit, the rest of her 'family' needs them too. I made two little girl outfits out of the last bit of that stripe fabric, and now want to make an outfit for her guy as well.
I was looking through parts on Alice Collections and I was thinking about buying a pair of jointed hands for my Iplehouse JID Daniel (45cm). The hands they have are branded toward certain dolls but none are Iplehouse. I wanted to know if there were hands that would fit my doll well. Help?
If you can measure the wrist joint on your doll, some companies like Doll Legend have their measurements listed, so you can match them up! That’s how I bought jointed hands for my Dollshe fashion doll. If the measurements are close enough, it will be a fit!
I've ordered my Sierra girl with the new girl body, small bust, in peach gold I was thinking of making her my YID Lucian's tween sister. Since for girls, puberty generally starts sometime between 8 and 13 years of age, I think this body would be great for a early tween character, and a early bloomer. But if it does not work out She'll just be a smaller type of human species. Thanks I know I should have taken more pictures of my JID boy but his face-up kinda bother me. And since I currently do not have a digital camera, only my cell phone, and ipad camera the pictures often turn out grainy. She's so cute What sculpt is she?
I'm in the process of making a Victorian outfit for Steve (my second Owen), and the shirt made him look so much like a waiter, that I had to set up a restaurant scene.....with Owen and Leona celebrating their anniversary....
It looks like Iple are bringing Boris back! It says Comming soon on his picture. I'm so afraid it's a mistake. If they really bring him back I'm getting him in real skin on a muscular body. Dustbunnie
It looks like he's available now. I had never considered him, but now that he's available again, I'm thinking about shelling a certain character as him.
@MB Lilac , your dioramas are always so amazing! @Dustbunnie oh that would be great news if they bring back some of the older sculpts!
YEAH! I'm going to order him today! And I just did - and paied for him too. I'm so excited. Dustbunnie
