I just used sock yarn for their sweaters. It comes in so many great variegated colours. I have several free patterns on my website; shirt, stretch top, lab coat, and vest - Tutorials Keep in mind that any patterns for Kaye Wiggs MSDs will also fit the JIDs with small or medium bust. The styles themselves may be too 'little girlish', but the bodice pattern alone can be used to create your own dresses.
Great suggestion about the Kaye Wiggs patterns, thanks! Also, I'm the one who commented on your blog about the JID shirt. I finished it! And man oh man, the curved hem was a challenge. I'm proud to have finished such a tiny tailored thing. I have your knit top pattern printed out ready to start on.
Congrats! Yes, that curved hem is a challenge, but it just looks so much better than a straight bottom edge. Four of my JIDs in their shirts....
Hey guys. Pretty sure I posted this picture when I first took it but with photobucket deciding to charge to share pictures all my old pictures are now broken links. So in honor of Valentines Day I am going to post this again. My lovely Iplehouse couple Alex (Colin) and Fedora (Cordelia) on Flickr
Lovely! Thank you for posting Cordelia. I have her on order and there aren't too many photos of her out there.
Oh sure! If photo bucket let's you here's more of her. I haven't switched all my pictures over to Flickr yet. I think I was one of the first to get her back when she was released as part of Carved Heritage. I got her blank so there's some blank pictures in there. Her box opening is also on my photo bucket. Fedora Fedoras Opening
Apparently we live near each other. I just saw you post in the DFW doll group on facebook. We need to get our girls together.
@equine-aurora Love when that happens! I'll bring my girl tonight if you are coming. @Bundles Thanks so much!
I am coming tonight. Was having trouble deciding who to bring. Alex is in pieces and being a pain in the butt about getting restrung so he is out unless I muster up the energy to try again, but that still leaves 10 dolls to chose from . But Fedora can come. I am thinking Calanthe, my Tania, as the other one, she's actually never been to a meetup. Iplehouse girls night out lol.
Hello everyone, I tought I might tune in as well, after a long time of absence. I've been on a shopping spree for all my dolls and I'm having really big trouble to find a nice top for my Cordelia. She has the large bust, which means 22 cm. I kind of regret taking this bustsize, because I'm having a really hard time finding fitting tops for her. Everything I like seems to be made for busts of 18 cm at most. Any tips on where to get nice fitting shirts for bigger chested MSD girls?
@Amadiel - if you, or someone you know, can sew, I have a free shirt pattern that fits all the JID bust sizes - JID Girl Shirt Pattern - Tutorials My Benny has the Glamour Bust.... There's also a pattern for the pink T-shirt she's wearing underneath. It also fits all the bust sizes - JID Lady Top - Tutorial
Etsy, and don't search "msd" never use this term when looking for stuff for JID's... use JID. General rule is if they don't say it fit's them specifically don't buy, If they say if fits doll that height ... ASK about the bust size. Too many ppl are hung up on a term and think all dolls in that size are the same. It's a fatal flaw in the hobby
Omg yes never buy "msd" clothes for these guys. My JID's wear more slim SD clothes then MSD clothes but it's all about the measurements.
I have a really hard time finding clothes for my girls. It's actually led to me interacting with my JID girls less than some of my other dolls. Right now I'm trying to practice sewing enough to attempt MB Lilac's shirt. Guppykisses on etsy can adjust her clothes for the glamour JID, but her stuff is really casual. (Great for me, but not everyone. ☺) I've searched through etsy a bit recently, and they have a couple of people doing JID clothes. I'm hoping to try them out one by one.
what 'style' qre you wanting? and when looking if you find something you like on someone else's doll.... ASK... they may have a shop you don't know about or know which Etsy shops DO make for JID... just because a shop does not 'show' JID's some can make for a JID on request.
Oh, style, I suppose I'm really looking for a variety of casual modern clothing. Neither my Violet or Cordelia has a set style yet, though I'm leaning towards unisex clothes or an androgynous look for Violet. I've been waiting for something to catch my eye, lol, which is a bit harder with the JIDs. I have been keeping an eye on the Facebook groups, and I've seen people there advertising that they can adapt for JID, so that's nice. I've got a habit of buying difficult to fit dolls, so I'm trying to slow work my way through the 'what fits' threads for all of them. IN the meantime, I love Cordelia's new outfit. Lol, I know I already shared it, but more pictures in the threads are always nice.
I haven't been very active on DoA recently or in the JID discussion, but I finally took time to paint my Cordelia after letting her sit around blank for a year. I know, I'm a terrible doll enthusiast. Here she is next to my JID I: I'm happy how she turned out, seeing that I haven't done a single face-up in a couple years. I love seeing other members' group pictures of JIDs in this thread because the individual dolls have so much character- it makes me want to save up for a JID boy (or two).
I bought a JID Tania second hand and she is lovely. I'm kind of relieved to find out that other people have trouble finding nice clothing for them, too. Unfortunately I'm having a really hard time with her body. Restringing didn't help and after 2 weeks of trying out how to get along with it I have decided to make her a hybrid and change her body though I really like the sculpt. And until it arrives I'm spending time with sewing clothes for my KID .
@Duckherd They are gorgeous! I love how they are styled. I just love seeing the different looks everyone gives their dolls, too. @Roterwolkenvogel Your Asa guy is beautiful as always. That sculpt looks fantastic on the male body.
My Violet finally arrived! She has no clothes or wig (or even faceup) of her own, but she's fitting in well with my two bigger dolls. (Pardon the less than stellar picture!) 10 - IH Violet Unboxing by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Thank you guys for your kind words to Akira @AntarelNefertili Pazuzu tips her hat to her sculpt sister! Congrats on her
@Roterwolkenvogel Awwwww, Kokiden says hi to Pazuzu as well! Your Violet is really lovely. @MB Lilac That's an awesome dress! If you don't mind me asking, did you use ribbon or some sort of bias tape for the filigree-esque design on her front? On a general note, I promised that I'd post this as soon as my Violet came home. Here's how 10mm SOULinaBOX urethane eyes ("Liberte" color) look on her sculpt. The irises are still a little big for my taste, but it's good enough because the character is still a child. Color is a bit desaturated compared to the shop photos, but the depth and texture is phenomenal. SOULinaBOX on IH Violet by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
@AntarelNefertili - the design on her front and all the black lines on her jacket are a very narrow soutache braid intended for miniatures. The narrow black lines on her skirt pleating is ribbon.
@Roterwolkenvogel - I do love how elegant and intimidating Pazuzu is. She's wonderful! @MB Lilac - Those pleats must have taken you forever! The dress looks simply amazing.
Probably. I made the original doll dress decades ago, and was thankful I only had to rework the waistband on the skirt, and remake the jacket from the bit of fabric I still had. Now I need to make her a wig in the proper style. I just used an old mohair wig and tied it up a little...
Probably a week or two. It's hard to say since I just remade an existing dress, so all those pleats were already done. But I'm going to make two matching little girl's dresses, and those will be from scratch, so that will give a better idea for time.
You are so talented! I really like this kind of style as my girl also wearing like that! Looking forward to seeing more photos of you!
if by 'get eye putty' you mean you ordered online... silly move... go to any stationary or office supply store (even bigger Walmarts have it). buy 'sticky tac' or by other names... blue tack, poster putty, putty photo mount... or even silicon ear plugs from a drugstore. No need to wait lol
Oh, I got excited when I saw there was a new JID body, but I do not care for it. Mostly because my JIDs are supposed to be older teens/young adults, and this body is much less mature. The sculpting on the chest is really pretty though! Can't wait to see the deer horns and all on the new girl. I don't collect fantasy dolls, but I really enjoy seeing them. I'd say the combination of the sculpt and body definitely point to Iple taking the JIDs in an even younger direction, or at least, emphasizing the young looking sculpts more than the older looking ones like Violet.
The new JID isn't to my taste either, but it looks like they've implemented a better ankle joint for the new one. I wonder if it would be possible to put the new feet on the older body with some help.
I'm not a fan of the new JID body either. It reminds me of the KID girl body, which I'm not the biggest fan of either. I prefer my JIDs to be more mature. So I hope they give us a choice, so we can still order the old body. But with this new body and doll, it looks like they haven't abandoned the JID line altogether, so that's at least good news.
...that is honestly just the KID body sized up :/ I guess it's time to forsake any hope for mature JID clothes directly from Iple based on that development
I'm definitely not hopeful about the prospect of getting mature looking clothes. I'm just glad I was able to get my girls before the body changed. I was hoping a renewed JID body would mean one that posed better. Oh, well. I have to assume that a lot of people use the JID line for a young character than i do.
*de-lurks* The new body probably won't mean they're stopping the old one. The SID got an overhaul a while ago and you can get either body when you order.
I am asking (on iple's Q/A) about if the new body will 'replace' or be an option choice.... I should go back and ask AGAIN if they will get aroung to making a TRUE teen which some of you may remember me calling a TID or and actual 'teen iple doll'... and mine is the first or second q on the board so by late tonight I hope to be able to share a reply
Yeah, I'm also giving up hope for any new mature JID clothes from Iple like ever again (though I think I gave up that hope at least six months ago). I wish they'd just updated the body they had instead of making a younger mini. While I can see how it'll work very well for those working in the larger sizes - it'll look less like they're just miniature adults and more like they're kids - I'm not a fan of the way they did it. The shrunken narrowed shoulders look odd with the heads. The sculpting of the chest is beautiful, but it seems a little wasted on a preteen doll. I would have loved to see that level of detail on the regular JID bodies.
Uff. I hope they still offer the "old" body type. Cordelia is on my wishlist, but certainly not with that childish body .
I personally really like it. To me JIDs are still children and they make me somewhat uncomfortable when made up to look like adults.
I'll guess it's depend of the point of view. My doll family its on the MSD size (slim MSD, in fact), but all my characters are adults, since I don't want largers SD. So, for my, the new body don't work. Hope they offer the two options, and we all be happy. ^_^
I should probably re-phrase, they look like young teens/older children. Still far too young to be considered adults. There's always the option of the fashion-sized mature minis that seem to be increasing in popularity. Seeing JIDs made up as adults makes me think of the 10-year-old girls I see coming into work made up like they were in their 20s, ordering drinks and food with their parents credit cards like they're adults. It absolutely creeps me out. I mean they're literally called JUNIOR Iple Dolls. As it is I'd likely never buy another JID. Or any other MSD for that matter. They're just not my size, I much prefer the SDs. Give me a giant hunk of resin any day.
Ah I get it. But since Fashion Dolls only recently came into popularity, it have little choice to stick with JIDs unless I want to replace everyone to fit with the pinheads. Which nope. Pazuzu pulls off adult decently enough (SDs would be so much easier but I learnt the, hard way that This is no size for me)
I still "need" one of the old girl bodies for my second hobbit - the JIDs looking out of scale as teens with SDs were what gave me the idea of hobbits in the first place, and it's working. I really like how the mature JID sculpts can look like adults next to KIDs and BIDs. Maybe with the new immature body the younger-looking sculpts can pull off kids next to SID&Co ...
You bring up that they are called "junior" ... this is the NEW label Iple gave them less than 4 years ago. If you read the description on the Doll Choice you will find it says they are mead to represent young teens to early 20's.... They have FID NOW to do the adult msd ... they did not before and They do do up well as adults as MBLilac's dolls prove Before they were called 'junior' they had been labeled as "juvenile" ... the more adult looks needed a new label... so ppl had the option of more adult msd without the stigma of the label used for a child... I got my first doll in 2013 ... I 'noticed' the name chang about a year and some laer.
I think the new body might be Iple trying to make them fit the same clothes as other minis like Narae, and MiniFee and such. Anyway for being mature people are very different. Personally I could fill out a bra with a B cub when I was 12 - and I was very slim at the time. I think they should have a bigger breast option though. Still I like the old body much better.
