IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 19

Nov 26, 2017

    1. @Oliveoil happy to help! And thank you!!
The JID body was changed for around 2016, as far as I know!

@Lillith dang, that is a complicated situation, honestly. My girl is the glow resin, and after a year I don't see any changes on her at all. Alas, the glow resin formula is marketed as a lot more resistant to fading/changing/yellowing like the regular resin.

I think that, if it is not too much of a bother, go ahead and blush the hands and enjoy them from now. Then, if they stop matching, redo it later. I wouldn't dare to force yellow them, to be honest. It is just too much of a risk, in my opinion.

    2. i got my first iple in 2013 and it had the new body with the feet that were not the same as the old body... resins stated to change then too my Dexter was the no french and the body from renewal still had french BUT french was never used in white or normal... but they did do subtle different whites the same as they did with grey. you can look up announcements for some of this in the 'notices' section on iplehouse.

    3. I ordered my Isar back in February of 2012, and the JID ladies already had their current (new) bodies then. Perhaps you are referring to when IH changed their hands, which was sometime in the beginning of 2016, because my "I" who was ordered in May that year came with the new hands.

It is my experience that the normal resin tends to mellow/yellow the fastest. Especially the older normal.

    4. Wish you all a happy sunday =)

    5. Thank you @ResinRapture. I did not know about the hands. I believe they changed the body a few years before that. The original body had butt joints. The new body does not. I was mostly concerned if the waist or hip measurements had changed.

      @Musume Thank you again.:)

Thank you @Lady Tiku and @MB Lilac ! This is helpful on the year. I was referring to the removal of buttock joints and wondering if the measurements had changed. I didn’t know about the hands. Thank you! :)

      @vanori Lovely photo.

    6. @Oliveoil They released the JID girl around 2008, and the JID boy body was renewed 2009. They still have butt joints. If the girls had them as well, it must have been before May 2012.

    7. Thank you @ResinRapture. The girls had double joints. It was an extra flap. Not easy to work with. Glad they removed it. I will ask IH about measurements. :)

    8. Go to eBay and do a search for "Doll Skateboards"

There are tons of them sized for AG dolls which work just fine with JID.
      Here is a single example.

Nice Real Skate Board Mini for 18" American Girl Dolls Web's Widest Selection | eBay

      Mine has no manufacturer's marks.

    9. @Oliveoil What measurements do you need?
JID girls how they have been since 2012:
      Waist mesurement : 15 cm
      Hip mesurement : 22 cm

    10. Thanks! I wanted a comparison from old body. I have some patterns and want to make sure they still fit. I found the new measurements, but I can't find measurements of the old body. I asked IH the question. Hopefully they will be able to answer. Maybe there was no change of size, just function.
      Sorry for the confusion. :)

    11. There's very tiny discrepancies in the original and current body measurements (mere millimetres). I looked them up - they were the measurements given for the two dolls at the time of ordering. It's also possible Iplehouse just decided to round up (or down) to the closest whole number with the new body, and that they are actually the same.

      Old Body (Asa 2010):
Bust - depends on size chosen
      Circumference of Waist : 14.9cm
      Circumference of Pelvis : 22.3cm

      Current Body ("I" 2016)
Bust - depends on size chosen
Circumference of Waist : 15 cm
Circumference of Pelvis : 22 cm

    12. Thank you @MB Lilac! This is what I was looking for and could not find on the site. It is very helpful. I can use the patterns on newer body now. Thank you! :)

    13. Cool, so glad someone had the info, you rock, @MB Lilac !!!

Oooh, the hands were always chunky and bland, shoot, I wish I could replace the hands on my girls :( But undoubtedly, the color wouldn't match at all. Still it's nice to know they were improved :D

Ugh, I should have known to check AG dolls! They've got literally EVERYTHING !!! LOL, thank you so much! Edit: two different kinds bought, 2 TWO!!! Oh my gosh, I've looked so long! LOL Now I can make my YT character!!!

    14. Thank you for the advice. I'll probably do something like that.
My girl has h old body, but-flaps, sausage-fingers and all. :XD:
I love her and bought her mostly because I love the overall aesthetic and body type, but the hands never felt right to me. They just weren't the same level of sculpting as the rest of her. I have tried to find hands for her from other companies, but without luck so when they released the new ones I was very happy. I just never got around ordering them until now. The new hands are so delicate and dainty in comparison to the old, I think this will in some way make her even more complete to me.

    15. Wait what?! Iplehouse is going to stop making their amazing clothes?!
Why? They have some of the best stuff I've ever seen in the hobby for sale! Makes me wish I had the money to buy all of it(well once I actually get one of their boys).

    16. @Lady Tiku yeah, but the "glow" resin is not frech/translucent/enviromental resin. They stated it on a declaration and I can tell you that it is not that resin (I have a french resin doll). It is a special urethane resin formula Iplehouse did.

@vanori lovely photo! Hope you had a great day! :D

@Lilith yeah, the sausage hands were not my cup of tea either, so I got super happy when they released the new ones, as I was slowly saving for the doll. That is awesome to read that the new hands complete your doll! I hope you manage to blush them :D

    17. Do you all think the hands would still match 5 year old resin? I have normal, light brown ebony and real skin. I mean, if I thought it might match, I'd grab up some new hands in a snap!!!

    18. I think there has been a change in resin colors since then, so I'd say it probably won't be a perfect match. And a five years old doll is very likely to have changed tone slightly on its own anyway, so even if the original color would have been exactly alike, newly made hands will probably differ a little from the body.
Hard to know to what extent, though.

    19. I guess I'll wait until someone tries it :D I agree with you, @Lillith :)

    20. I would love to get some FID hands for my girl.. but she is really old and yellow.... so i can not decide which color i need xDD

      • x 1
    21. It sure would be nice to get new hands, I'm just afraid I wouldn't be able to get them to match at all :doh

    22. If your doll always has long sleeves, and their hands are never up around their face, a little difference in resin colour won't really stand out.

      • x 3
    23. @IngieBee if they don't match, you can always dye them or blush them!

@vanori I agree, FID have some pretty and dainty hands!!

@Quiet and Insane wow, that is a lot!! Congrats!!

    24. Well, @MB Lilac and @Musume Is the new RS the same as it was in 2012? I got a new RS boy recently and the resin was completely different (not french looking) I know they have "glow RS" Is that the same as the older version? I can live with slight shade differences, but if it looks like they stole someone else's hands, it can be creepy, LOL

    25. @Musume - Thank you! :)

@IngieBee - My Daniel is in the Glow Special Real and it is indeed a different colour to the regular S.R, likewise normal and glow normal. So Id assume it's the same for peach gold, white, and light brown too.

    26. @IngieBee - No the current Real Skin, and Glow Real Skin are nothing like the older formula.

I took this photo back in 2016 when I had a regular and Glow Real Skin doll arrive. At first I could not even tell the difference between the standard RS and the GLOW, but the GLOW is a little darker and redder, but not really any more 'translucent'.

Beside them is my much older Elin from 2011 in the original real skin.. In real life she looks more yellow/green than she does in the photo. Dolls from 2012 will also be the original real skin, however some are more yellow/green than others, as Iplehouse said it made a difference if dolls were cast when it was hot or humid.
I'll try take some other comparison photos.

      • x 1
    27. Okay, I forgot about this comparison photo of my two Owens. The one on the right is from 2013 and is the old Real Skin. Owen on the left is GLOW Real Skin from 2017.

      • x 4
    28. Thank you @MB Like , the second picture looks more like I would expect, as your older Owen really looks like my dolls :)

    29. All my other JIDs are the older Real Skin, like the Owen on the right. Except for my second Owen and "I", who I got in GLOW Real Skin in the hopes that they'd better match all those older dolls. But you can see how that turned out. Not. even close.

Oh well, they all still look great, just so long as I don't stand them right beside each other.

    30. Well, I think different skin tones are the norm in reality, so I like the differences in a photo. I'm just not sure I can get a set of new hands to work. I think your two Owens dolls look great together in a photo.

Take me and my full blooded sister. She is a blondish freckled person who'skin tone is different from mine (a brunette) I can't remember who has what anymore, but we compared once and one of us had more orange skin tone and the other pinkish. We were both surprised at the difference :). So I actually try to get my dolls in many skin tones for that reason :)

    31. I don't know if a new set of hands would work on an older doll. The new resin is so much more 'red'. Your poor doll would look like they've been washing dishes in scalding water. But then, maybe if your doll always wore long sleeves covering the wrist joint, you wouldn't notice so much that the hand and lower arm colours are different. As long as the doll's hands are not up by their face.

But then, my Wizard/Santa hybrid's hands are a totally different colour than his face, and it doesn't bother me.

Anyway, it's not like extra hands are that expensive, so it might just be worth getting some, and just try it.

You know, tomorrow I can try switch my Owen's hands, and you can see what you think about the colour difference.

    32. That's true :). I don't mind the boy hands, I'd just get the girls new hands :). I only have one RS anyway. Then I have an ebony, a normal and a light brown, I think. Was Isar made in light brown? So maybe I will splurge and get some :)

    33. @IngieBee I think they changed the formula. The glow is not french resin and it is not the old formula: it is a special formula created by Iple that is resistan to UV and has a very nice texture. I have my girl in glow LB. Maybe you can color-match the hands with dye or airbrush.

@MB Lilac that is a great comparison and info, actually! So the glow RS is reddish? That is really good to read, as the old RS looked to greenish for me.

    34. @IngieBee - Okay, so I went and switched one of my Soa's hands with one from "I" who is the new Glow Real skin. The Glow RS is a little 'pinker', but I was so surprised at how well it works. Of course my Soa isn't quite as faded as some of my other older JID girls. But also keep in mind that Soa's body has been blushed, so maybe that makes a difference too. I was honestly, quite surprised....

    35. Oh wow, those are so pretty, that would be worth the risk!

      Thank you both!

    36. @MB Lilac It is interesting to see the differences. I am convinced the glow skin may not be worth the extra money.
I ordered the new hands for a 2015 doll in normal resin. I am hoping the match will be okay.

Is there a remedy to keep the foot from slipping forward on ankle joint? Kassia's foot is constantly not staying where it should. It moves forward. I have never experienced this before. Any advise is greatly appreciated. :)

    37. I have no idea, @Oliveoil ? It pushes forward (pops out of the socket?) I mean mine have twisted and popped I guess, but never really popped forward???

BTW, please let us know how the hand resin match up when you get them :)

    38. @Oliveoil - I don't think the Glow version is worth it either, especially on the smaller dolls. I only ordered my "I" in Glow thinking she would match my older ladies better. Then I ordered my second Owen in Glow as well so he'd match her. But as you can see in the photo with my Owens, that the current Glow is nothing like the older RS. And from an earlier post, you can see that there's almost no difference between the regular and Glow RS.

@IngieBee - I don't know how to deal with those ankles. I wish IH would redesign them, like they have for the FID ladies, because those work so much better.

    39. Hello guys! This is my first time posting to this discussion, but I've finally bitten the bullet and decided to get an Iple JID Violet over another option. She will be my first MSD, and I intend to try my hand at faceups and body tattoos on her. I needed a sculpt that combined the features of my two SDs, and she was just what I was looking for. :)

    40. Isar's default resin was lt brown.

    41. Your Isar is such a lovely colour of light brown. The current LB is so much darker - and redder.

    42. Awesome, I hope you post a lot of pictures:)

Thank you @TomB ! She looks beautiful there :)

    43. @IngieBee Yes it pops forward out of socket. It is very odd. Sueding helps. The hands arrived and I am pleasantly surprised how well they match. I am having trouble taking a good photo, but will try to post one today.

@MB Lilac There is very little difference and Glow is so much more. Thank you for the comparison photos.

Isar is beautiful! I really like the light brown.

    44. Awesome news, @Oliveoil, thank you. At least some colors should fit then :celebrate

    45. Here is the best I can do on photo.

    46. Oh, that looks perfect @Oliveoil ,is that normal skin?

    47. @Oliveoil - The resin match looks great. The hand looks a tiny touch 'pinker', but that will fade soon enough.

    48. Thank you @MB Lilac and @IngieBee! You are right it is slightly pinker but shows up more in photos than in real life. Yes it is normal resin. I am so pleased. The hands are so delicate.
Here is Kassia.I think I prefer the JID over FID. Sad that IH is not doing much with this line.

    49. I love both lines equally, I think. The JIDs can hang out with my minifees just fine, so I like that :D Too bad my FL Chicline dolls are so much smaller than the FIDs though :(

    50. Hello! Can I disturb the discussion a bit to see if someone can help? :)

I have a Violet on the way, and I know Iple lists her eye sizes as either 10mm or 12mm. Does anyone have a photo comparison of both sizes on that sculpt? Thank you in advance!

    51. @AntarelNefertili I can't help with a comparison but mine has 10mm eyes, small iris, low dome by DollBakery and I can't imagine her in 12mm, unless maybe 12mm with small iris

      • x 1
    52. Thank you @Roterwolkenvogel! I just ordered a pair of 10mm urethanes from SOULinaBOX (Etsy). Glad to know they'll probably fit. Normal 12mm irises seem to look too big on the Violet sculpt.

    53. @AntarelNefertili Please post photos of the eyes. I have been tempted to buy a pair from SOULinBOX for awhile now.
DollBakery has wonderful eyes but so hard to get. My Kassia wears 10mm. 12mm was way too big for my liking.
      Congratulations on Violet.

    54. @Oliveoil Sure will do, and thank you! The others on my eye hoard are on the 12mm scale, but almost all of them are small-iris because of my large dolls' teeny eye sockets. SOULinaBOX will be my 3rd pair of urethanes, and I have two from Silent Paradise to compare them with once they (and the doll) arrive. DollBakery eyes look so delicious! Unfortunately, I never lucked out with the preorder period. ^_^

    55. Speaking of Violet, no clue if I shared this pic of Pazuzu with her child version or not xD (aka the Pazoodles)

    56. Wow, I see a similar expression on her face :) Doesn't everyone which they could go back and time and care for their younger selves, sooth them when they're upset, etc?? LOL I do! I really could have used some insight, LOL

    57. I've been admiring your pictures from afar. :D Really love seeing Pazuzu!

    58. I took one of my JID couples with me on a drive up north yesterday.....

    59. I love their sweaters! What kind of yarn did you use? Is it lace weight or fingering?

I'm new to BJDs and have JID Cordelia on order (as well as a BID)... I'm excited. I've been sewing some, but it has been hard to find JID patterns. Why doesn't Iple have more clothes for JIDs??
