IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 19

Nov 26, 2017

    1. @MB Lilac That's an awesome dress! Steve's suit is wnderful too! And the setting is perfect.

    2. Thanks. Steve and Iris started out as a contemporary couple, then went back in time to the Victorian age. This is her first new dress, basically because she wanted something new to wear for her daughter's birthday. Plus I needed a pink Victorian gown for a future FID photo shoot, so the bodice was made using my FID pattern, so it would fit both size ladies.

Their 'terrace' is my backyard patio table, with a few hanging baskets of million bells strategically placed around the pillar and railing unit.

    3. Oh! The front is just as beautiful as the back! It's nice that the JID and FID can share clothes! Unfortunately I don't have cool places to take pictures.

    4. The ladies can, at least the slim FIDs can. The guys can't really, although I have turned under the sleeves and pants hems on an FID tux so one of my JID guys could wear it....

    5. More lovely pink! The gentleman looks very nice in his borrowed tux!

    6. Hello. This Is Ryan

    7. OMGosh, the pictures are so darn cute!

    8. hey guys, I haven't stopped by in a long time. I don't come on DoA all the often anymore. However I was wondering where y'all get pants for your boys since Iplehouse stopped making pants for them and they are such an odd size? I have 3 Iplehouse boys sharing 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, and 1 pair of boxers. :doh I really need to get them more pants. Especially since I am leaning towards ordering an Edwin so then i'd have 4 boys. :aeyepop:

    9. Dollsofmine on Etsy made both jeans and dress pants for my JID boy so
I know she has patterns to make them. You might contact her and see if
she wouldn't make some for you. There are other doll clothing makers
who make things for JID. Custom is about the only way unless you sew
      yourself.

    10. Hey all! I'm new to this forum so I'm hoping this is the appropriate place to ask this... But I am planning on ordering an Iplehouse J.I.D. Violet in "special real" now because they are having a sale. Anyway, in your opinion, is the "Glow" skin worth the extra cost? The "Glow SR" is $95 extra total, and $63 more than the regular "special real" skin.

Edit: I should mention that it seems difficult to tell for me from online photos which is why I'm looking for opinions. They only look slightly different shades to me... I want her to be perfect but if Glow is really not worth it I wouldn't want to pay that much extra for it.

    11. @SeaNettle It has a translucent quality a lot of people love, but for me, no. It's nice and pretty in person though. They have worked hard on stabilizing the resin color, it used to be so sensitive and lose all it's pink and turn yellow or green. This is usually exacerbated by the translucency, but the resin now has UV blockers that they tested and really work well (I still wouldn't leave it out in the sun, or florescent lights)

But the $95, for me isn't worth it. I stick to the regular resin in all my dolls. Again, it depends on how important you feel it is?? And if you even like it??

    12. Thanks for the input! I do like it, but I like the regular SR too... But when you say it used to be sensitive, do you mean the regular non-glow resin will lose color still? Or have they improved the resin overall? I don't want her to turn green lol

    13. No, I have had no troubles with regular, but I don't take any of my dolls into the sun except once or twice for a picture, where I rushed, and it wasn't more than 2 minutes :D I also keep them in a dark room and only use LED bulbs which have no UV light. I do still enjoy them, they all sit out, not in a box, so I can grab the one I want to work with or take pictures of any time. But that's a luxury that I have because 2 of my kids moved out of the house, and my caveman husband hasn't kicked me out of those rooms ... yet, I just moved in, ROFL :D

I've made a green screen photo area on top of my cutting table so I can do all my photos indoors and fake the outdoors :D I am still working on the lighting though (again, LED - no UV)

    14. I ordered two Real Skin dolls once, one in regular, and one in Glow, and when they arrived I quite honestly thought Iple had made a mistake since I couldn't tell the difference at all. But after they were sprayed with sealer and painted, the Glow Real Skin doll had a slightly darker red quality to it.. I quite honestly don't see this translucency everyone claims Glow has. It definitely isn't like the old, original resin formula which actually was a bit translucent.

In the end I decided that the Glow option for Real Skin wasn't worth it, and the only time I ever splurged on it again was when I was getting a guy for my JID lady who is Glow.

Here's a comparison photo of three of my Real Skin dolls....

This is my Victorian family, which has all three Real Skin resins; Owen and 'I' are Glow Real Skin, the two BIDs are the current regular Real Skin, and KID Lisa is the old original Real Skin, which had a yellow undertone...

You can clearly see that the two Glow adults have redder complexions, but they are no more translucent than the two BIDs.

    15. The family photo is just amazing @MB Lilac !

I think I'll post a picture, it's been probably 10 years since I've posted a picture of any of my JIDs and I have so many! I'll start with my Isars:

      • x 3
    16. They are both beautiful. It's amazing how a different skin tone and faceup can make a sculpt look so different.

    17. Yah, she is the only sculpt I got twice as she was the most mature looking mini at the time. Now I'm thinking of making my JIDs younger looking??

    18. I have always wanted my JIDs to be older, and I really wish Iplehouse had introduced some more mature looking guys to go with the obviously older Isar and Violet.

    19. I always thought Owen was close, but I stopped buying JID dolls by the time he came out. Although I'll say, I was tempted with Violet :D

    20. I have two Owens, and they are paired with Leona and 'I', but still not mature enough for Isar.

    21. Hey everyone!! I’m waiting on an Iplehouse Tania to arrive to me and I was wondering if I can have some spam of any Tanias, please!

I’m super excited since she was in the running to be my first BJD, but then I became obsessed with Minifee Ryeon and missed out on Tania, but I found one secondhand!!

    22. Hello all! I've been trough this thread and some older ones in hope to see some photos of Minifee girls with JID boys. I feel like they would look nice together and their faces would fit better in proportion than FID's. I also have new Bimong Narae and I already saw a photo with a handsome guy in suit with two older (?) Naraes. Most of my current dolls are either from Bluefairy (big heads) or Fairyland 6-7" heads. At the moment I'm thinking about Owen and Daniel. I don't own any Iplehouse dolls yet but I've seen few that my friends have. What do you think about the proportions of the faces? Thanks for any input you might have and I'd be thrilled to see any photos if you have some or can show me the way towards them.

    23. I don't have any Minifees, but I do have several Naraes, and they fit great with JIDs. They have the same size head, and are both realistic. One of my Naraes has Kyle as her partner....

And that would be my photo with Owen with several Naraes - Wedding Portraits - Fav Photos 2017

    24. @MB Lilac They look great together. Thank you so much for the link for the photos and I must say I just adore the outfits you've created for all of them.

I guess I was already convinced about having a boy JID already and just to debate with myself if it will be Owen or not. I find it quite stressing to order now that Covid19 has been affecting the shipping and such. Need to see other things too, like what sort of shoes will fit. I sew doll clothes myself so there's no problem having him clothed but I really like doll shoes so I'll need a pair or two for him. Will regular MSD size shoe be too big? Thanks again for the answer.

    25. @xaya - all three of my JID guys are wearing regular MSD boots that I got years ago from Mimiwoo. The thing make sure a shoe fits is to compare a JID's foot length with the inside measurement of the shoes.

      • x 1
    26. @MB Lilac Thanks for the answer, I have quite a lot of regular MSD shoes so there might be something for him too.

Which hands will he be coming with/is there a default pair? I'm already settled into Owen and asked about the shipping fee which is going to be big but that's the time we're having right now.

    28. Hey everyone! So I’m having a problem with shoes. It seems every shoe I buy either fits my Minifees or will fit my SD Delfs. I check the measurements, but on some of them I can’t get the width. Is there just a good place to buy regular shoes for classic JID girl bodies? And here’s a picture of Wren (showing off her love for Goalkeeper) for some prettiness.

    29. For some cute simple shoes, the 14" Kish Chrysalis shoes sold by debsadorables on ebay definitely fit! I own these sneakers, these floral cutout shoes, and these brown sandals and they all work great for my girl.

    30. Okay, so I made an order for Owen. Shipping fee was horrendous but I thought that I need myself a treat for 15 years anniversary in this hobby. I'm also glad I found some photos of JID's together with other dolls so I've been browsing around there.

    31. Thank you!! I have A LOT of 14” shoes from Debsadorables, but I think they’re the Kish/Larkin? Whatever one fits Minifees. But I will DEFINITELY check those out since I love her shop! Thank you so much!!

    32. Hi everyone I'm planning to order a JID Daniel but I have problems with choosing skin colour.

I know they changed the resin formula before. I wanna know will Special Real (not the glow SR) turn green with the new formula? If it does, how serious they turn? Just little bit or turn to very green? Thank you so much!

And does anyone have Daniel? I wanna see more pictures of him

    33. I don't think so, @orchild . I have a couple of FIDs for almost 3 years now, and they have not changed at all. But of course, they are not the translucent resin color, which by the way, is just gorgeous in color, I really like it :) I haven't noticed any change in color at all. I also have Peach Gold and two brown girls who are holding their color super well as well, all about 3 years old. They live in a room with blackout curtains and LED light (which is supposed to not have UV)

    34. My only new RS Iple lived out of direct sunlight but not "blackouted" for a couple years, she's seven-ish now and still absolutely fine, so no, in my experience you don't need to worry about greening :)

      • x 3
    35. @IngieBee @Jany
Thank you so much! I was worried about greening and yellowing so much. I finally make an order for RS Daniel. Choosing skin color is so difficult for me especially they have so many colours. I'm so excited! Hope it can ship to home faster! :XD:

    36. Daniel is so cute, congratulations @orchild :D :D :D

      • x 1
    37. I've got a Daniel in SR for 6 years, I think. Still SR, not green  But he lives in his box in a closed cupboard. He does not really a fan of being a model, likes to be photographer himself.

      Congrates with your order!

      • x 5
    38. @Darlin He is cute! I wanna be his model! :XD:

(In fact, if you don't tell me he is SR, I will think he is PG. So hard to distinguish SR and PG. :doh)

    39. Thanks a lot! All Daniels are cuties, aren't they? :love

These skintones are kind of misleading  They look so different depending of lighting conditions I never sure of what I'm looking at

    40. Agreed, unless you have one in hand, you never know!

    41. Happy Holidays from Fred and Charlotte (JID Ryan and girlfriend)

    42. Happy holidays to your gang too @IngieBee :) I can't believe I have similar armchair like yours, just different fabric.

I'm still waiting for my first JID boy, Owen.

    43. LOL, I can't remember where I got my arm chair, but I have seen them around :D Owen is so cute, can't wait to see the JIDs start rolling in from December sales!!

    44. I have two Owens. They are brothers, one living in Victorian times, the other in the present....
He's my favourite of the JID guys. I really wish IH would have released another more mature looking JID.

      • x 6
    45. Oh that's another fantastic picture! I love how you can pose realistic scenes! @MB Lilac

    46. I ordered just a little bit before the December sales and I wish I'd had realised they will have one. Well, I wish he will come home after Christmas, he is my 15th doll anniversary gift for myself. I might want another JID but I'll definitely wait for some other events/sales before making an order.

@MB Lilac Loving your scenes, they're handsome guys and the kids are so cute! I want to see what's in the presents! :)

    47. @IngieBee - Thanks. Photographing stories with my dolls seems to have become my new passion. And of course the more one does it, the better one gets at it.
@xaya - Thank you. That photo was a scene out of a recent story, where the modern family goes back to Victorian times to celebrate the first birthday of their baby. The story starts here - Getting Ready - Fav Photos 2020
and continues here - Sena's Party - Fav Photos 2020
Those gifts are for the baby, but never actually get opened.

Lately I've been really taken by the FIDs, but I still love my Kids, and their families, so they all take turns being in stories. I just wish IH had some more mature looking JID guys, since I have a a lot of single ladies, and I draw the line at two Owens.

    48. Hi guys. I recently started falling in love with the idea of Esi on the JID New body in Ebony.
I am really struggling to find more pictures of the new JID body, anyone know where they are on the site?

Also having trouble logging in, it says there's an account with my email, which sounds right i probably made one ages ago, but when i go to log in i can't even finish typing my email address, the box has limited characters lol :chibi

      • x 2
    49. @Datsuki Sorry I can't answer to your question. :/ I hope somebody knows better, I'm new to Iplehouse site too. Maybe you could email them about logging in problem?

My boy is finally shipped. I ended up ordering him a basic face up as my favourite artist doesn't work in cold weather and I wanted him to have at least something. I can always ask later if I don't like the face up. I'll need to make/order him a wig too but at least he has face up to start with. I'm eagerly waiting for him to arrive so I can see how he looks like with my other dolls. :) Mainly, girls.

    50. The new JID body - or any details on any of the bodies - is in their Body Review. Just click on Iple BJD at the top of their page, and then click on the Body review box on the lower right. Once there, just choose JID Girl

      • x 1
    51. Ah thank you! When I click Iple BJD it gives me a popup telling me I can't view it unless I log in, so as @xaya says I suppose I need to drop them an email!

    52. Has the body changed for the JID since it's first incarnation? I didn't know that!

    53. Actually it changed twice. The original JID body had 'butt flaps'. I have one JID with that original body. Then when they released Leona and another JID, (name escapes me, since she was also discontinued) they had also reworked the body. It was still the same size, but without those butt flaps. They still offer that body. A few years back they introduced a new JID body, which is more or less like a bigger version of the KID body, and is more childlike with much narrower shoulders. I'm not interested in it, since my JIDs are all meant to be adults, but the option is there for people who want their JIDs to be young teens.

    54. Oh, OK, I probably have the first two bodies then since I have two Leonas but never noticed the differences, LOL. Or if I had, I'd forgotten. I must say that the KID is an amazing poser, but that could also be because of size. My JIDs were intended to be adults as well, but now that I have FIDs, I may want to change them to young teens or so :D

    55. Yay i got my boy today! I'm so happy with him, his face up is really nice. I'll try to have better photos from him during the weekend, I don't think I have any clothes that fit him and wig might be a challenge but at least he has eyes. :)

      • x 1
    56. Ach, the boys don't need hair so much, LOL. mine went a Looooong time without and still don't have wigs i particularly like, LOL :D Congratulations @xaya :D OOps, I thought I was in the FID thread, LOL, nah, I like my JIDs to have a wig :doh but they're cute no matter what :D
