She's so sweet ^^ And glam bust... wow... DO NOT buy the Vino Roso set... it won't fit a glam... mine is a medium and ... well lets say it could look waaaaay better (fit wise). I can't wait to see more of her ^^.

Haha, yeah, I didn't mess around. I shopped around for a doll for a long time and I was very specific about what I wanted in size and face sculpt. When I found June, I knew straight away that she was the one I wanted! I work pretty hard so I had no trouble dropping $400 on my first doll with a couple of hundred dollars worth of clothes and accessories. I'm open to the idea of having a second doll but I've yet to find what I'm looking for. Thanks for the warning about the Vino Roso set, but I don't really like the look of those kinds of clothes so no stress here. Thank you for the link too, that is very useful.

 

Boof, your Tatiana is beautiful. I was thinking about ordering a Tatiana too but I'm not sure. I like SID or EID more. I have a JID Asa, she is the little sister of the bigger dolls

 

Daya.cas, Tatiana seems to be a pretty popular sculpt from the JID selection. And she's beautiful so it's not hard to see why Good luck choosing! EID Yur seems to almost look like a completely grown up Tatiana or Tania.

 

JID boys are difficult to clothe, but an easy addiction to fall into! And Colin is just the cutest thing. I thought it was pretty awesome of Iples to offer that Realskin Muscle Colin for second prize in the triathlon. Good luck saving up - can't wait to meet him when you get him. :3

Heheh - my first bjd was Volks You gotta go for what you want, otherwise you're just wasting your money. The right doll is always worth it.

 

hehe thanks yeah I kind of breezed the rest of the thread and noticed the problems clothing them. DO you happen to know if they fit it K2 pants from MoC? I have a couple pairs that my DZ boys wear I was just wondering if they might possibly fit the iplehouse boys. Cause if not I'll have to save up for clothes that fit him as well XD.

 

I wouldn't know about K2 pants, don't have any... but if your skinny Dollzone boys fit them, I'm guessing they probably won't fit JID. These guys are thiiiick. ^^ Model body can squeeze into some larger/baggier MSD size clothes, but Muscle body hardly fits anything that's not made for them. My lads wear almost all Iple clothes, but they've had hit-and-miss luck with the occasional garment from Dollmore or Volks.

Don't we have a "what fits JID boys" thread yet...? I think there should be a whole dedicated thread just for that, and one that's separate from the girls' thread for easier reference. Because that is one of the most common questions we get in this thread. ^^ And it's been discussed in all 15 of these threads, but the info is hard to find. I think it almost deserves a Sticky!

 

there's a what fits JID thread but not just one for the boys and drat I was hoping he could borrow clothes from my other dolls for awhile cause I'll be sending him off for a very detailed tattoo not long after he gets here and I know the kind of tattoo he has isn't going to be cheap to get done XD. That money tree in my backyard needs to grow faster XD.

 

K2 pants definitely don't fit the muscle body, but I don't know about the model.

SOrry if it's been asked before but I'm wondering about eyes. Iplehouse has their default eyes listed as 12s are their eyes really that small? my other MSds wear 14s or 16s.

 

most dolls are not as 'realistically proportioned... they seem small but are more 'normal' for a realistic looking doll... the two in your albums have giant (to me) eye wells bordering on 'cartoon' style. IH does not do anything remotely cartoon/anime(ish). So to you they may seem on the small size. Many JID owners also like the even smaller 10's for a more human look. ^^. Here is my JID Jessica (I) wearing the eyes she came with (12's) That is as big as you would want... any more and it would be all pupal showing... The "I" mold also has a fairly 'wide open eye' compared to others ^^

Thank you both for the help. Yes Dollzone is known for their wider eye holes I have seen people put 12s in DZs before but those were the more narrow eyed molds. none of my DZs can wear 12s without having gaps so thanks so much for the help. I just wanted to make sure before buying eyes for my future Colin. Venturing away from Doll-Zones I feel like a newb again XD. I was just surprised cause my yoSd wears 12s haha.

 

lol newbs are fine... nothing wrong with being 'new' and you are 'new' to IH ^^. it's the n00bs... who don't even try and never learn that are annoying ;p

If you notice Ban Sidhe's Callum's eyes you can see some 'white' around the bottom.. this is more normal in humans which is why they smaller eyes (on any IH doll) works well. The BID's can get away with the bigger eyes since babies and little kids seem to always be 'all eyes' ;p

Essentially the difference with IH is they are more 'realistic' looking faces/dolls which means typically 'smaller' eyes to get the normal look ^^.

I don't know personally but I have heard eye size (pupal?) can vary a bit between companies??? not sure about how that all works as all my kids seem to have liked their default eyes O_o

 

Thank you it's just strange feeling like a newb again after 5 years XD. But I have 6 doll-zones I think it's time to broaden my horizons a little bit haha. Thank you for the input. I'm trying to decide whither to get 12s or 10s. The character I'm dolling isn't human he's a dragon that can take the appearance of a human so I'm leaning towards little bit larger eyes for him.

 

@equine-aurora, Colin looks like his eyes are big and round, but 12mms are definitely as big as you'd want to go! Still, he did come with those same 12mm acrylics-- so he can get away with 12s just fine. Ripley normally wears 10mms, but here he is wearing Eyeco 13mms (Eyeco use odd-number sizes, so they're really 12mm):



In his arrival thread here, I tried on a whole bunch of different wigs & eyes, if you'd like some ideas of how different things look on Colin.

JennyNemesis: thanks so much! I will go look! And HAHA it's fine my dragons are very good at looking human. You can't tell they're not human when in human form. I don't know how long I"ll be able to hold off ordering him I haven't been this excited about a new doll in awhile. As soon as my current DZ order is paid off I might be dropping more money on a doll at this rate.

Sorry for the double post but the threads been quiet for 2 days. So I have the patience/self control of a Squirrell apparently. I got a $375 bonus today and instead of doing the smart thing and putting it away in my savings account I put a Colin on Layaway XD. I have like nothing for his character but we'll see how this goes XD. I did order him one outfit so he'll have at least something to wear while I figure him out XD.

 

All those dolls are simply amazing. I can't wait to order my own JID, I finally decided to order a Leona. The way she looks is so adorable, it's so friendly and kind. I'm still saving money but it won't take much longer. I'm very excited!

I'm just catching up on the clothing talk from a couple of days ago - a couple of months ago I discovered that Guess Doll's outerwear tops are actually large enough to find on the JID muscle body (presumably because they're designed to fit under multiple layers + a standard doll body).

turns out I misread the check and it was only $37. WHoops. Oh well I had the money anyways and I already paid the deposit. And He'll be in Special real skin on the Muscle Body with the mobility joint. I got him blank though.

 

Whoopsy! That IS a bit of a misreading! Well, $37 or $375, perhaps it was the Universe just giving you a nudge... if you had the money to start the layaway anyway, seeing a new check was all you needed to take the plunge.

So he'll be realskin/muscle just like the triathlon prize boy! :3 How cute will that be.

... Have we any other Muscle Colins around here? I keep forgetting whether or not I know what he looks like on Muscle bod.

 

Your boy is the only other Colin I've seen and yes I loved that boy so much I had to have him just like that. Though I will make him my own of course. and haha it was actually $37.50 so that's why I misread it.

Ripley is brown skin + model body + default faceup, so your realskin + muscle + custom painted boy will be a totally different creature!

I know we've got at least ONE other Colin somewhere around here, he just doesn't greet his adoring public too often. :3 I forgot what body type he's on.

 

WOO! that's what's so great about this hobby. the same mold can look so different in the hands of someone else. and I was looking around for other own pictures and only found a couple he doesn't seem that popular. I seem to have a knack for picking less popular molds hehe. Jenny do you have like a flickr or Deviantart or something with more pictures of Ripley?

Oh I have Colin on peach gold skin and model body. Sadly haven't shooted him a looong time and tought that I would put him on sale, but still not sure. He's so cute, it's hard to just give up on him, but it feels like the only attention goes to Amy and Vito.

Thanks! Iples didn't have a company picture of a brown Colin, so when I was deciding on his skintone, I had a friend help me Photoshop a picture of Realskin Colin into a darker tone that matches Lt. Brown. I ordered him through CDS, and lo and behold, when he arrived, he looked JUST like the Photoshopped picture.

Hervoyel's ebony Boris is another custom doll combo I'd never seen before... he is pretty wonderful!

Answering the call for Benny spam. She is real skin, although she looks pale in this photo. I had to cut down that big curly Iplehouse wig because it just ate her up. Now you can see her face.

 

I should have looked at Iplehouse earlier. Not sure why I didn't besides maybe I prefer order from dealers and MoC isn't an Iplehouse dealer. Anyways I was looking around the website and have now added a Leona to my wishlist XD. My Colin isn't even home yet and I want another one.

 

it must have been huge before, there is still a lot of hair! you did a great job cutting though, curls are hard to cut evenly.

It was beyond huge! This is the wig: http://iplehouse.com/home/shop/item.php?it_id=1554496615&nhn1=en It's one of the two wigs Iple debuted with nYID Bianca. For some strange reason the size 7/8 wig page shows it on a KID. The advantage to cutting curls is that no one can tell if you didn't do it evenly. I'm more afraid to cut a straight wig.

Face up A~ B's red lips were lovely bit I was worried about her looking more Latina than from Iran, which is where her character is from

 

I chose B to match my BID Erzulie because they are supposed to be sisters. Sometimes I wish I had ordered both of them in a darker resin, but so far I have been afraid to go any darker than real skin in case there are visible imperfections.

 

From what I've seen from IH, RS fit the bill of what I was looking for, but their tanner colours are really very nice~ but I def see what you mean on the apprehension, though~ I was a little nervous getting a darker toned girl at all, since when I was in the hobby years ago tan resins were ~super~ hard to come by and generally fake-looking :O

 

Everybody's doing tan dolls now. I think the colors have come a long way. That said, I ordered Benny before Iple changed its resin recipe. I don't know what to expect of new real skin dolls. Guess I'll find out in a couple months--I have an SID on order in RS. Fingers crossed.

 

Which is great! I'm really stoked that there's more variety and representation in the doll world! And I can't what to see your new SID, now~ hopefully my JID doesn't take too many ages >.<

 

I have never bought a tan/brown/realskin Iplehouse doll that had any marbling or visible resin imperfections-- those people KNOW how to make tan! And I have.... 10 of them? I think 10.

Re the change in resin-formula, Realskin looks a bit chalkier & slightly pinker-toned than it used to. At least, that was the result I got in my most-recent realskin SID (Lee) vs. my older realskin SID (Claude)... Even though the color isn't very different, they catch the light differently, so the newer-formula resin photographs paler. Here's a side-by-side of my SID boys for a reference. It looks much more similar in some photographs than others, though.

The new formula Brown resin is also a bit chalkier with less translucence & subtones than the old formula. But it still seems to photograph as nicely dark as the older formula. It's a less elusive color than Realskin, so the difference isn't quite as noticeable.

 

Your boys look very different in color, JennyNemesis. Claude could almost be a light brown. How much of that is the lighting, do you suppose? Lee seems to have the light on him while Claude is in shadow. They both look good, despite the differences. (How could a Claude and a Lee not look good?)

 

Oh wow Jenny's boys don't even look like they're the same resin color.

 

I agree, their cuteness does distract from resin color analysis. ^^

A lot of the difference is from the lighting in that shot, definitely-- Lee is facing the window (it's natural light), and Claude is sort of in his shadow. Like I said, some photo-circumstances make them look really really different, and in others they look fairly close. Here's another shot with them looking more similar.

Since Lee's new resin is that much more "chalky", he reflects more light, so he usually comes out lighter. The old resin formula had more French resin, which is more translucent, so it didn't look so reflective (which is why Claude looks very tanned in some shots). The old formula is also more olive in color... the new resin is peachier and less brown.

But even at its darkest, when you could almost mistake Realskin for Brown, when you put him next to an actual Brown doll, he looks so pale. Realskin is quite the "chameleon" color!
