Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 9

Apr 6, 2019

    1. No, sorry. I made his wig, and was just lucky it turned out pretty much how I wanted. I find making wigs very stressful, because it's impossible beforehand to know how one will turn out. All my mohair is rather curly, so it involves cutting and gluing tiny pieces that curve the right way. I need to make one for Baron (when he comes), and my Lawrence needs a longer, more brown one too. Good thing I made a bunch of the wig caps before he got painted.

    2. Love the teeny compass Jin, great find!
Wonderful Urban Style camp wear Dollfason, they'd better stay on paved roads in those heels! Your girls are just gorgeous!!
I get what you mean about wig making MB, the few I've made have been hit or miss and nerve wracking!

Dante modeling a new shirt for me.He's such an obliging fella ;)

    3. Ah, thatโ€™s okay. I had a hunch you probably made it. Your artistry is divine in everything you do. I highly regret not buying any of it when you did sell doll clothing.

      Loved your vacation pictures. :abow:

    4. Thanks! I'm still working through the trip photos. I honestly didn't think I took that many, but I guess I did. Here's another of Bianca, in the Engineer's garden at Fortress Louisbourg....

    6. @sisen, which sculpt is Dante? I like his wistful look. So many of the Iple males have a scowl with the factory face-up.

I got my oval 8/4 mm eyes from Dollines and made a comparison with my oval 6/3 mm on Grace.
More photos of different eyes at my Flickr album, Doll eyes
There are so many beautiful dolls and photos here but to many to comment all off them in this post.
      :lol::love

    8. Thanks Zinna! Iโ€™ve wanted to see the 8mm with 4mm eyes, they look great! Your girl is just lovely too. Going to check out your Flickr photos
Thank you cresendolls, heโ€™s a Rex. His sculpt is such a blend of strong and soft features, I wanted to try to bring out more of the soft.

    9. Those eyes look great in your Grace @Zinna ! Nice to know what sizes work best for some of the dolls. I've been really tempted to order some to have on hand for incoming characters.
Been playing with Laurion this weekend, and in addition to a new story installment for his character I put some character fun facts up for him as well on my blog linked below ( In the Glade)

    10. @sisen, it's amazing what a difference the eyebrows make in a face. Rex looks great!

    11. Thanks Crescendoll! Yep, on an immobile face, eyebrows really come into play when trying to bring out an emotion.

    12. i just had the most absurd thought... do all the face up painting EXCEPT eyebrows.... then seal that sucker.... then add eyebrows as needed to suit the expression LOL

    13. ...or expand on that ...wouldn't it be great to have several heads for the same doll each painted a little differently but representing the same character. Especially for the girls where their makeup could go from day to night :) Not that I could afford this even if it was a possibility...not for all of them anyway ;)

    14. I think I've seen dolls with multiple face plates, so you don't have to remove the head. Does anyone have any idea what that might be? Possibly not a BJD.

I own a resin Annora Deluxe Basic by Tonner that came with two heads with very different face-ups. This isn't the place to post pictures but it's a great idea. I think Iple has offered that option occasionally with their fantasy dolls?

    15. I had a wonderful little bjd, elfoll Hanah. She came with four different faceplates, one was sleeping. She was so much fun to create photo stories with.

    16. One last picnic before leaving the fort....

    17. Oo! Lobsters!
Wow you even found a clump of flowers! Buttercups?

    18. Yes, lobsters! Grass can be tricky if it's too long, but it was quite short, and there were really short buttercups in the grass, which I thought would work perfectly.

    19. @MB Lilac. Yes you had the perfect spot with flowers in the foreground! So perfect that day! I love when that happens!

    20. @MB Lilac - Another gorgeous shot! I'll be sad when you've finished showing your vacation photos. Hope there are still more to come.

@Crescendolls - There was an additional tiny Elfdoll--Doona. One was a mini Soah and the other a mini Ryung. I looked at both of them for a long time but never bought either. Wish I had. FairyLand's smaller dolls have interchangeable faceplates. Usually the second faceplate is a sleeping face, but RealPuki Papilio's second faceplate is winking instead of sleeping. FL's larger dolls have a sleeping head in addition to the open eyed one. There are probably other doll companies that offer a second head. Some collectors modify the sleeping head to have open eyes. Then you can paint a different make-up on the second head.

    21. @Mahgiep - That last day at the fort we had every kind of weather imaginable - bright sun, clouds, and storms with rain. We had been allowed to park in the Handicapped - Employee parking lot right in the fort itself, which was a huge bonus. It meant we didn't have to lug all the dolls and props around with us all day, but could go back to the vehicle and change things up.

Thanks! I'm almost at the end of our vacation photos. Just some more with my kids, and one final set with Rex and Bianca. I still have to put everything into albums on my website, and eventually put their story together. But I have LOTS of other dolls wanting some attention after being ignored the past several months, and they need a turn too.

    22. @vermont chick, thanks for the reminder - I think it was a FairyLand doll that I was thinking of.

    23. A numer of dolls have face plates Art-Bimong's dolls have face plates. Also Lillycat/ Cerise dolls also have face plates. I'm sure there are others that I'm not thinking of at the moment.

The Elfdoll sets are great and do shop up on the secondary market.

    24. Bishonen House's smaller dolls he has been doing lately (Steve, Nails, Spade) all have several faceplates for very varying expressions. Makes them a lot of fun to take on a trip, so many different reactions to the surroundings.

    25. I think Ancient Tales dolls have faceplates as well (called "Night", "Wind", "Dream", etc.).

    26. I hope Iplehouse will make more fid dolls.like fid Bella, Nancy, Soo .There are soo many beautiful large dolls ,why not make smaller version for people like me who always take dolls traveling around.

    27. @MB Lilac That's another beautiful shot...the flowers in the foreground and the wind blowing her hair. So realistic!

I remember the little Elfdolls too. I picked up sleeping face plates when ordering my two MNF Chloes in recent times. I couldn't resist the option of the sleeping face...have yet to paint one of them.

I wish Iplehouse would offer more sleeping faces and as an option when buying a doll rather than a whole doll with a sleeping head. And yes, I am also eager to see what new faces will come up in this line. I'd love to see Marien, Bibiane and many of the others!

    28. @MB Lilac That is such a gorgeous shot and how fortuitous to find short buttercups!

@JinCIncy Laurion looks so good on horseback.

    29. She looks royally enchanted.
      Wow. Just wow.
      Nice find!
He is really cute and way different. I love his uniqueness.
