Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 7

Jun 22, 2018

    1. Anyone know where to get ties for FID boys? Valentine needs some funky patterned ties and I haven’t been able to find ones in his scale :...(

    2. TwinkleCalifornia on etsy has some.

      • x 1
    3. @LaurieESW @vermont chick thanks for the info! It's a scary thought they might be that short staffed. But seeing them say how they lack the staff to keep developing new items continuously, I fear it might not be that far off. :( Sincerely hope things will take a upturn for them.

    4. Absolutely stunning as usual, @Katushka_Nitok! I love your fantasy outfits!

    5. Does anybody have fid YUR on the slim body and can show me some pics?

    6. @Oliveoil used to have FID Yur. She has some photos on flickr - Iplehouse FID and Raccoondoll

@Mahgiep and @sisen - I received some eyes from Dream Tree Studio today. These are Aspen color AD3X, still working on placement. Like this color but wonder, could they be just a bit larger, thinking iris slightly larger, not pupil.

    7. @LaurieESW She may need AD3 eyes like Jae Jin. He has a larger eye opening than Yoona (Isabel). Are these paperweights or the eyes that follow the camera?

    8. These are the higher dome ones.
She sent me a freebie/seconds of the AD2, need to try those.
I have never minded changing doll eyes, until now. I sort of avoid messing with the FID size once I find an eye I like.
The small FID eye-well area and getting putty out, etc. Do you have any tip/tricks?

    9. re: eye putty. I use the silicon swimmers use for ears. it's great for eyes, keeping wigs on, non-surgical breast enhancement, putting items in a hand, etc.
(Mack's silicon ear plugs, fully malleable, clear)

    10. Does it hold together better so that when you want to remove the eyes it is not a process of digging the product out to get the eye out?

Here are the AD eyes sent as freebies(marked as seconds).

    11. @LaurieESW - I also use Mack's silicon ear plugs, although not consistently. Sometimes I'm lazy and just re-use the putty that came with the doll. The ease of removal depends on how long it's been in the doll. I dug out some Mack's that had been in for a long time and found it had hardened. If you change eyes fairly often, it stays malleable and is easy to remove.

I like the AD eyes on Aurora better than the AD3X.

    12. @LaurieESW I am more reluctant to change the eyes with FIDs. The only tip I have is that I keep the putty on the back flat of the eye sticking out beyond it and lightly work the putty around the eye and into the eye socket after I place the iris where I want. I think of it as a covering. I mostly center the iris and check if it will work for several perspectives and then make sure it looks directly at me from around 2' away. Then I do the same with the other eye. Last I check how they look together. I have to dig the putty out sometime. It depends on how hard I push it in. I think it is best to have a light touch but not so light it moves out of place soon after.

    13. try the silicon. it sticks to itself and will pull out any residual. never had a problem even after years of sitting when it does eventually dry out a bit.
put the eye in, then putty so you don't get it in the actual eye socket. you can move the eye with fingernail or toothpick.

    14. Hi Laurie, i like the Mack’s silicon ear plugs too. But there can be an issue with digging stuff out if you press in really hard. I’ve found the rounded end of a popsicle works nice and you don’t get gunk under your nails. I prefer the AD2s to the AD3, but I think it’s really a matter of what you like.
In my next order from Amanda, i’m Going to try the globe shape.

    15. Thank you all so much for sharing your tips. I will try the silicone.
Maybe I press things in place too much, because I usually have to 'dig' the eye out. It has never seemed a problem with the larger dolls, but these small ones it is frustrating.

Also, I am not sure if it is the eye size, eye socket size or type of eye (acrylic vs. glass) but I have such a time in getting Aurora's photo without there being a light glare/reflection. I had tried the safrin eyes that Isabel is wearing, but they did not look good for Aurora. Sometimes the reflection is okay/normal looking while other times it just looks unnatural, to me. Guess I will just have to keep practicing.

BTW. I really like the color of the first eyes I tried on Aurora from Dreaming Tree. I think that size would work well for some of the sculpts, possibly Aaliyah when she returns. I spoke with the artist and I should have photos and then shipped after next weekend.

    16. For anyone who's ordered from SartoriaJ, how long does it usually take them to ship? I placed an order a month ago and it hasn't budged since.

    17. It varies. I’ve had things ship a day or two after I placed the order, but my most recent also took just over a month.

      What did you get?

    18. I have had many orders. My latest order from Aug. 28 just shipped Thursday. I spoke to Jay about another issue in late September and he apologized for the delay saying the striped dresses were taking longer than he expected and would most likely ship in ten days. My take is that an item is designed, then advertised before the production workers start producing it, and even they don't know the time involved. I also have have had items shipped a day or two later so they also have an inventory of popular items but not the brand new stuff. All speculation on my part.

    19. I ordered the striped dress on 8/29 and it finally shipped on Friday.

    20. I ordered a few shirts and a pair of jeans so maybe the size of the order is also a contributing factor. Looks like this delay isn't quite outside the norm so I'll give it another week before contacting them. Thanks for the input, everyone!

    21. Hello! I got my first FIDs recently but am having the darndest time getting the FID wigs I ordered from Iplehouse to stay on. Do folks have a recommended source for silicone caps for the FID size, or other recommendations on how to get the suckers not to fall off constantly?

    22. Is the problem with the boys? I get a size larger with the boys... But, in the past I've used smeared on hot glue on cap, front and back so it would grip (comes right of which acts like a silicon cap) I tried a wrapping a rubber band around the head but don't like that as much...and I've gotten my wig caps both from eBay and Etsy???

    23. When I get a wig that doesn't stay on, I let a doll with a slightly smaller head wear it for a while, which seems to stretch the wig a little so that the FID can then wear it. (If that doesn't work, the smaller headed doll gets to keep it.;))

      • x 1
    24. I got a boy (FID Claude) and a girl (FID Mari).

Yeah, it's the boy's wigs that are not staying on at all, although the girl's wig is not being well-behaved either. I'll try the head caps and see if giving Mari Claude's wigs helps stretch them at all--thank y'all for the advice!

    25. I use a little bit of sticky-backed velcro. ^_^

      • x 1
    26. Oh yah, I've seen a lot of people put a bit of the loop side tape in the front and back, just a bit to grab the wig, then pull down around the ears. That might work??

Anyways, I don't think I mentioned I really love those light blue eyes on your girl, @LaurieESW ... a little late, but... LOL :D

    27. My FID Vamp Claude came in today! Really impressed by the faceup, and the sculpting of the body--it's funny, I've got an SID Vamp Claude and the little differences between the two are super cute.

Unfortunately, the wig I came with him isn't my favorite, so I'll be needing to switch that out. Thinking I might order some alpaca and try myself, though my last wig-making attempt didn't end up so great. Here's a pic from after I got his hands switched out!

    28. Yay! My puppy shipped!

    29. @lessyface your Claude is so cool! I normally don't like full open mouths with teeth, but his is more relaxed and the whole effect is menacing yet .... handsome :D :D :D I think the problem I have with the fully open mouth ready to bite, is that it limits the pose. If they would allow a group of heads showing the character in, perhaps 3 poses, that would give you the ability to do stories better. In fact, I wish they did that for all our dolls.... for the same price of course, LOL

@Mahgiep Oh man, I've been thinking of getting some pets for so long now! They're so cool!

      • x 1
    30. @IngieBee I agree: more face poses! I think Dollshe does that, but those wait times, yikes. I'm such a sucker for faces with really specific expressions, though, so I'm super biased: my Raccoondoll Rosie has this look of utter disdain on her face at all times, and I love it. With the FID Claude, the effect is much more relaxed, I agree with you. It's almost like he's mid friendly conversation. The SID face seems much more almost condescending to me, like he's about to lecture me about how stereotyped vampires are in modern society, lol. Both of them get posed with their hands in "I'm talking!" position a lot!

Thinking about potentially an FID Dane next, depending on if they release a new face near the end of the month. Or maybe a Raffine. This size is really perfect; I'm definitely a convert! :D :D

    32. LOL @lessyface that's funny "how stereotyped vampires are in modern society" LOL

@xyuemoto are those boys the same size? Is it the camera angle? It's just that the hands seem like they're the same size, so strange! LOL, but gorgeous boys you have!!

    33. It's the camera angle. I don't have many places I can do photos unfortunately.

    34. Ha! Well, it makes for an awesomely funky perspective effect :D

    35. I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. >_<

    36. @lessyface I am not interested in vampires, but your Claude is so cool!! Yay Iplehouse!
Here are the colors outside my bedroom window this week. Love the fall.

    37. @lessyface - Congrats on your vampire Claude! Gotta laugh at the placement of the extra hands in your photo. Love it!

I was thinking of a vampire Claude or Oscar--complete with horns and claws--to play the beast opposite FID Isabel. Now I'm thinking maybe Dane instead. Or a new sculpt, depending on who's released mid-month. Who am I kidding? There's no money in the kitty for any more dolls this year.

@Mahgiep - Congrats on the shipping notice. Which puppy did you order? Hope it gets here before your fall color disappears.

    38. @vermont chick I got a space black beagle. I asked for 2 American Girl doll dog accessories for my birthday present from my partner (my birthday is at the end of the month). They came yesterday! Talk about great timing for the shipping!:lol::3nodding:

    39. Wow gorgeous fall foliage!! I love fall, too. @Mahgiep your girl is really pretty, too. Congrats on the new puppy, and your birthday. Scorpios are the best ....imho.:D

Added: I love this thread and all the wonderful pictures, and news. (Now if I can just get a better grasp on Flickr, I could contribute, too....)

    40. @Mahgiep I really love that pearl necklace and that skirt! Really, the outfit is awesome! How do the dolls look with the FID dolls? Is the scale good?

      Watching for it, @oriscany :D

    41. Loving the doll pics! Sharing my FID box open here:

    42. @Lelm that was a great video! I really love her in ebony! I struggled with the choice of LB vs Ebony with my Aalyiah, and cost won out! She is so stunning! There is nothing like Iplehouse ebony though!

    43. @lessyface Congrats, he looks really cool! I've yet to decide on a character that would suit the concept, but fantasy-type sculpts are awesome to look at.

    44. @oriscany I believe you meant the scale of dog, yes? I know the puppies are small.
Eyes 10 mm, height 8cm, width 9.5-10cm, front leg height 3.5cm. So I expect them to still look like puppies vs. grown dogs. I have never seen them with fids. I assume that their eyes won't be too big in comparison since my fids are wearing 8mm eyes. I promise a photo comparison when Chin arrives. Can't wait to see her, any day now!

    45. Lots of resins here getting dressed for Halloween. Not sure who Stella Vamp is dressed as - Mrs. Peel? Bewitched with bowler?

Even unpainted she really captures my imagination.

    47. come on iple... i wish to see the nyid-fid +G

    48. @ResinRapture So cute!!! Oh please tell who made this baby?

I'm still considering which FID sculpt to purchase (and waiting for some new face perhaps?)... and I would like to know, have you ever seen Harace in light brown skin? Couldn't find any pictures of her in LB resin. Do you think it's a good idea?

    49. @Sillion Thanks. It's a repainted key charm. You can find them on ebay or amazon. They are called cute pompom sleeping baby key charms or something alike. They are not really dolls, just heads with a pompom.

If I remember correctly @luluna has a tanned Harace. But even if I am wrong, I am sure Harace looks good in every skin tone.

    50. @petiteballerine - Considering the gun, I'd say Mrs. Peel rather than Bewitched. Can't wait to see her with a face-up.

@ResinRapture - That's got to be one of the cutest baby faces I've ever seen on a doll. And the size is perfect.

Grace attended a Halloween-themed doll meet-up yesterday, where she consulted her crystal ball, read palms and just generally told fortunes. She and Pukifee Rin are wearing Mommy-and-Me outfits I sewed and crocheted. Raccoon David looks on.

    51. @vermont chick Thank you :). Ah..so Grace is the lucky recipient of the halloween costume. I especially like the spiderweb doily. and the tiny face on the mini top.

    52. Actually, both Grace and Rin are wearing the candy corn fabric. Grace has leggings and Rin has a skirt. There is plenty of fabric left over, so you'll probably see it on someone else before long. The little skull on the tabletop is a bead someone gave me. I wish I knew where she got them--I'd buy a bunch!

I just now realized what you meant by the tiny face on the mini top. It's the how the buttons are arranged on Rin's top. I was thinking of a pumpkin face, so I probably should have added a triangular button for the nose.

    53. I predict a lot of our girls are going to get pregnant because of @ResinRapture 's adorable portrait with the baby! But, what dolls could represent a toddler, a child, a teen?

    54. Lol, same!!! I just ordered two of those key rings!

I’ve also been wondering about which child dolls might work in scale - been wondering about Saintbloom myself. They look like they have smaller heads than most YoSD - I just wish I could see a comparison pic to be sure!

    55. Raccoondoll has toddlers/young children.27cm height. I don't see photos of them with adults.

    56. @petiteballerine Haha, happy to help. Wouldn't it be fun if you could just breed new dollies?

    57. @Mahgiep, I can't tell you how many times I've looked at the pets and thought they were so cute. I'd love to see photos when the little guy arrives, and you have the time.

I love this time of the year and Halloween. @vermont chick, really cute candy corn fabric outfits, and spider web table cloth. (There was a lady and her name was pinktruck, I believe.... anyhow she used to go all out for Halloween and I always looked forward to her photos of her dolls and decorations. I believe she's the creator behind Marble Halls, or at least one of them.)
