Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 6

Mar 7, 2018

      • x 1
    1. I've just put my first fid on layaway :dance I was going to get Isis in peach gold skin but I end up with Aaliyah in light brown skin.

After paying my first installment I checked my order page and it's says 1st payment unpaid, is this normal? I've definitely paid though.

      • x 2
    2. Congratulations on your order! I believe Iplehouse still inputs payments manually, so it takes a day or two for the order page to catch up. Especially with the weekend, you may not see the payment until Monday.

    3. @KatKitoshi - Thank you! I've been itching to do more doll pics, but even thinking about taking my dolls out to do so exhausts me. Fortunately, the snow pictures seemed to have helped, because it's a bit cooler today than yesterday lol

@xyuemoto - Thank you very much! I love Monique wigs so much.

@Supernova - Oh, she is gorgeous! I'm sorry to hear that the eyes don't suit for you, but even with the eyes she has, she is absolutely beautiful.

@Loganberry - Seconding what vermont chick said. When I put Sebastian (Arvid) on layaway, it would sometimes take a day or more for my payments to show up, especially over a weekend. But congratulations on your Aaliyah! She's an amazing sculpt and I can't wait to see her. Iplehouse is pretty quick to send out your dolls, and it only took me a few weeks before Arvid was on his way home to me. Granted, he was on layaway, so it felt like a shorter wait time for me.

    4. She is stunning! Which faceup is that?

    5. Thanks @vermont chick and @bewaretheshort1 that's definitely put my mind at rest. Yes I've noticed iplehouse gets their orders out pretty quick so hopefully I won't have too long to wait, although I'll be sending her straight off for a face up when I get her :sweat.

I've been looking at wigs today and I'm struggling to find what I want. I want a black synthetic fibre wig with really tight curls/afro, has anyone seen anything like this or knows of someone who takes commissions for synhetic wigs?

Failing that I might buy a black straight wig and make the curls myself but I'm not too sure how I'd go about that :XD:

    6. @Loganberry - Monique makes an Afro style wig called Tyra. It's synthetic mohair and comes in nearly black and 5 other colors. Monique wigs are available from Facets by Marcia as well as on their own website, and I think also on ebay.

    7. @Loganberry - Good thing @vermont chick answered before I did, because I didn't find the Tyra wig on Monique's website during my perusal, but here's the link to the wig to see if it's what you're looking for. I found one wig on Etsy that looks similar to what you mentioned as well. There were a few other wigs I found that had tightly curled hair, but not in an afro style. Let me know if you're interested, and I can send you the links to those as well. They're all Monique wigs, though, so if you want, you can peruse their site.

I do like the Monique wigs, and it's what Sebastian wears. The fibers are very fine and react similarly to human hair at the scale we're working with. The fibers are similar to alpaca/angora/mohair, however, so if the synthetic is the feel you want, you may not like the Monique wig for your Aaliyah.

    8. Ahhh! She's so pretty <3 It makes me more and more excited for my Mari~ That's a lovely faceup too!:D

    9. Thank you everyone, very happy with her! ^_^

@nancy_schroeder_ca She has the B makeup, it's not quite as dark as I was expecting. The lips look darker in the promo pictures.

@KatKitoshi Mari is a wonderful sculpt, her lips are so full and beautiful! :)

    10. Thanks again for your help @vermont chick and @bewaretheshort1 that's really helpful :). It' not exactly what I want but I think I may have to make a compromise and the tyra wig and etsy wig could probably be styled to be closer to what I need.

I'm basing her on Nadine from uncharted so I want her hair similar to this picture.

And that's really good that monique wigs are similar to the animal fur ones I don't mind that at all

    11. @Loganberry there is always the option of getting a wavy/curly wig and using pipe cleaners and hot water to curl it into the correct curls.

    12. @stuartsmycat thanks :) I'm really excited to get her, I haven't felt this excited about a doll in a while!

@TatterPunk thanks so much that's such a good idea! I think I actually might do that. I've found somewhere in Europe that sells monique wigs and they have black wavy ones. :XD:

    13. @Loganberry - Just be aware that Monique wigs aren't suitable for very high temperatures. If you boil the water, you'll want to wait to let it cool a bit before giving it a dunk. Otherwise, you can fry the fibers and it becomes extremely frizzy and unmanageable. I had that happen to a JPop wig (which has similar fibers to Monique).

Sebastian's wig is a restyled Monique Navajo. When I took out the braid, he had some serious waves going on, which honestly looked really good, but wasn't what I was going for. So I ran the wig under hot water from my faucet (I have a robust water heater) and combed it out, then let it soak in fabric softener overnight (using hot water, which obviously cooled).

    14. I find that pouring water over the wig is better than actually dunking it. At least that seemed to work well for me when I was curling monique wigs back a hundred years ago. That way the heat isn't staying on the fiber quite as long.

    15. I probably used water that was way too hot, in any case, but it made me very gun shy. It was water that had previously been boiling seconds ago (which is what I use on my high-temp wigs).

    16. Thanks for the advice :) I'll bear that in mind when I'm doing it, maybe test the water on a bit of the wig that isn't visible. Although I may not need to do that as I've found someone who does custom orders with synthetic hair for fid. Hopefully they'll be able to make one in the style I want :XD:

    17. I did it! I finally placed my first payment for FID Mari! I requested the new SID Basic Mari face-up for her and ordered in the SR Glow. I am very excited to own a FID! I hope this size will make me keep this Iple. I love their dolls but I need a more manageable size for display.

      • x 2
    18. @zankitsu Congrats! FIDs are so wonderful!
@Loganberry Have you considered this Etsy shop? Misspunchy? She has an afro wig.

    19. The black wig that is blowing in the wind is a Monique Navajo?! Does it hang down below his waist or is that a trick of the angle? I can't find wigs long enough for the guys without restyling them. Yours looks great, though.

Edit: Just saw Sebastian's album on Flickr. He's gorgeous.

I haven't had any trouble pouring over or dunking Monique or even Iplehouse (non-mohair) wigs in water shortly after it boiled. The only wig I've melted was a DollHeart one, but that was with a blow dryer. Maybe it was the wig that was at fault?

    20. Congrats!! I'm also waiting on a Mari with the SID faceup =D. I'm on the same boat with the size too. I live in a smaller place than I did before and don't really have the display space for a larger doll. At least for now ;D. But I think the FID is an excellent size <3

    21. @Loganberry is Nadine a 3d character? She is beautiful! I wish I could find a wig with small curls and more natural volume like in your picture! I also love that elegant outfit!

Wow, I haven't gotten notifications again in a while! Hi ya'll, beautiful pictures everyone!!!

    22. Nadine is from a video game called Uncharted... 4 I think. It's the most recent release (and a really cool game).

I'd dropped off the notifications, too. Why? Haven't a clue. Internet gremlins maybe?

      • x 1
    23. @Mahgiep thanks :) Yes I've seen that, it' close but not quite what I'm looking for.

@IngieBee Nadine is from the game Uncharted and Lost Legacy. So she isn't my character. It's funny really I do write but I've never felt the need to shell any of my characters but there are a couple of video game characters I need dolls of :XD:.

Laurielenzangels on etsy does custom wigs for fids. On her website she has pics of wigs just like in the picture of nadine. I'm just waiting to hear back from her to see if she can do it in fid size. I'll let you know what comes of it :)

    24. Oh wow, that'd be awesome! I was going for that with my Aalyiah, but all the hair is a bit much, and the curls are a bit big, still, I'm pretty OK with her wig. The light brown version from the same shop was made of actual mohair, but all the ringlets are gone on that one already :(. I had a girlfriend in middle school who must have had some AA heratage as she had very light blond hair (don't think she had albinism??) And adorable little ringlets everywhere! If you pulled down on one it'd go to her butt, LOL, But They Were just shoulder length. She was a walking talking doll, LOL.

    25. @KatKitoshi Our Maris will be kind of twins then. :3nodding:I was going for the Elemental Guardian face-up but decided on the new SID; it's just a lovely face-up for Mari!

    26. Uuugh. With bills the way they are, I may have to cancel my order for Isabel. I'm super sad about this cause I really really wanted her (like right now) and I don't want to lose my first payment and all that. I hate being a grownup. It's dumb. I've got about another week to decide if I can manage or not, but it's not looking good. T__T.

Edit: I went ahead and cancelled. I'm really sad to have to, but there's no way I can responsibly get another doll right now. Hopefully I'll be better off if they do a holiday event. Maybe I can even get her in Glow White skin.

    27. Gosh, rather than lose the deposit, can't you talk to them, tell them your situation, and get them to give you more time? I hate to see you lose your deposit :frownyblush:

    28. @Loganberry - Good luck on the wig hunt. God knows I've never combed through wig sellers and makers in the past because I had a specific idea in mind /sarcasm. But it looks like Monique wigs are heartier than the JPop one I fried, so that's an excellent sign if you need to style it yourself.

@zankitsu - Congratulations! I hear you on wanting to keep the doll. I had similar troubles when I previously owned minis, but it turns out that I was after fashion sizes all along. Now I'm addicted. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

@Saphariel - Yup, it's definitely a Navajo. I tend to take a very hands-on approach with my dolls. Just don't ask about the Soom wig that began life as a pigtail wig. It doesn't exist. Shhh! And thank you so much for the compliments! His album is huge! I feel bad for taking so many pictures of him, instead of my other dolls, but he's so handsome and easy to handle, I can't help it!

@TatterPunk - I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope things start getting better, and you can get Isabel in GW soon.

Fortunately, I go back to work on the 25th! Which means I can start saving up and buying things for my dolls again. Maybe Sebastian can finally get some boots and a casual set of clothes?

    29. @TatterPunk I'm sorry you have to cancel Isabel. I really hope you can get her someday. Your character development for her is really fascinating and I look forward to seeing her when she does join your crew.

    30. Just posted this in the raccoondoll thread, but here it is again in case anyone is thinking of a male hybrid to avoid the dreaded clone army. :)

Raccoondoll girl, Souldoll NL body with a raccoondoll girl head, FID model boy on the end. The Souldoll body makes a really nice younger, slimmer looking male next to the FID! The male head looked too big on the Souldoll body and came too far down the neck, but the raccoondoll female heads work, and they occasionally sell them separately. Don’t know how a FID female head would look, wish I had one to try!

Apologies for their nakedness, haven’t had time to make clothes yet!

      • x 5
    31. @morganatron those are some great options! You hit the nail on the head with the "clone army"! I just got a bunch of impldoll bodies for my Fairyland heads, and I'll have 5 all together in the end, and I realized that's just too many of the same body! So even so I like those bodies, I'll never get another. I like the girls to look somewhat different. Since I had long term plans in the mini size, this is quickly becoming a problem!

    32. @zankitsu Indeed they will be XD and it really is <3 It was love at first sight when I saw that face-up~ I'm so excited for her I hope she comes sooner rather than later.

@TatterPunk Oh no D= I'm sorry you had to cancel! But I totally get it with adulting getting in the way. I've had to dip into or stop my doll funds for bills a couple times as well. But hopefully you'll be able to order it again <3

@morganatron Ooh I like how that smaller male body looks. Souldoll you say? What is that size called there? I might have to look into this for another future doll. That won't come til much later. Hopefully. Maybe. *wallet weeps from a distance*

Edit: Crap I looked at the souldolls and now I want one. Mistakes were made lol

    33. Did you KatKitoshi? LOL Tisk Tisk (awesome!)

    34. Lol oops, yes Souldoll are gorgeous and very tempting! That particular body is the New Line (or N.L.) one.

    35. I have several SD boys and they are gorgeous. They are (generally) on the taller end of the MSD scale, which is really nice if you want to put one together with an FID boy. The FID will be taller, but it's not a crazy height distance. If anyone is super curious, I could take a pic of my FID boy (muscle body) with my SD Souloid (I think he's like 1cm taller than their standard MSD boy) and SD Vito boy.

    36. Here's a comparison photo showing a Soul Doll Vito, a Soom Idealian51, an FID, and a Soul Kid NL, in case it makes size visualization easier for anyone:
I can't take more photos, unfortunately, because both Soul Doll guys have been rehomed.

    37. speaking about posing dolls. What do you think.... is the new male body easier to pose than the muscular one?

    38. [IMG]
This is a gift from the lovely @vermont chick. It's a beautiful crocheted dress that was made for Ludivine, but I am afraid Roux won't be happy to part with it. Maybe they'll just share.

    40. I just got a second suit so my Rex can have one as well. Only problem is, with the shoes being so tight, he can't wear socks, so the bare ankles show, especially when he sits down. It totally ruins the look of his elegant suit. So I was trying to figure out a way to deal with it, and then my husband suggested 'socks' without toes or heels, so I made some. Just simple tubes with a bit of elastic under the foot.......problem solved......

    41. That is inspired!

    42. Looking good!
      Who makes the suit?
And which brand are the shoes?

    43. @ResinRapture - Thank you! Anyone it fits should definitely get to wear it! :)

@MB Lilac - The footless socks are a great solution! They remind me of stirrup pants from way back when. My guys usually end up wearing shoes that are way too big in order to accommodate socks. I'm going to make them some footless socks and get them back into shoes that fit.

    44. They look fantastic!

    45. @Iron_Dog - Thanks!
@passionasfashion - The suit and shoes are by Iplehouse. The suit was only available with the second FID guy release
@vermont chick - snow pants had those straps too, back in the day.
@stuartsmycat - Thanks! definitely better than bare ankles.

*Forgot to add that I made the socks out of T-shirt fabric.

    46. half socks, partial wigs for wearing with hats, faux layers to keep bulk down, silicon for breast augmentation...the illusions that keep our dolls looking good. :apig:

I'm having trouble finding eyes for my gentle Tedros. both he and Stella Vampire have such narrow eyes. 8mm too big, 6 too small. 8 with small iris too round for Tedros.
anyone see oval small iris eyes for sale?

    47. Awesome new pictures today, really sorry I wasn't around :doh Gotta say, that's really brilliant, @MB Lilac!

    48. Thanks! I already cut out another pair for Lawrence.

    49. stuartsmycat, on a more slender body Bianca looks delicate and fragile
MB Lilac, very good sock problem solution! Thank you for reminding me about this method!

    52. @Katushka_Nitok Your Raffia is just lovely!
@Lyanne NZ Your Aaliyah looks so good in that beautiful lilac lingerie
@MB Lilac That's a great idea on the socks. In desperation I chopped up a pair of my Vito girls' black thigh highs and got them to work but your solution takes care of the problem of trying to fit all that material in a shoe.
