I have been buying a bunch of the new boy bodies in the 47-52cm range. I will try to review some possibilities next week. I have a FID Grace that I can use to check size. Do you know about what height you want?

Question: is there a "fashion doll" or "mature mini" signifier that dealers use? So far, I'm not seeing one.

 

basically anything that will look good with an FID woman’s head, so probably bodies that are on the larger side of the 1/4 scale? Like a total dumbass I never thought to compare the FID head I had a while back to my Minifee/Bimong girls, but my gut tells me those are too short and skinny for the FID heads

 

I wonder how the new Bonbon Galaxy Mangosteen body would be? (sold at Kikagoods and other places I think). It's a mature boy body, but I'm not sure how it would look with a FID head!

Got a question for all the FID boys owner :
I am looking for a masculine haircut (pref. short) for my Tedros. Silver / Light gray (or white).
I have been hunting on Etsy but everything I like is MSD, so most likely 6-7" / 7-8". If you have stores or wig artist to recommend I am all ears.
My boy is painted, have all his clothing but... he is bald D: and I can´t wait to take pics of him @.@

 

Finding ready-made mature looking wigs in the smaller sizes is hard. I was searching for 5/6 wigs for my 2 newest boys (OT for this thread) and the frustration was at epic levels. If they're not childish looking, they're wildly girlie. And like 85% seem to have bangs.

I believe Chewin does wigs for the FID boys that look natural (and amazing). He usually has some in stock ready to ship but I think you can also commission a wig?

And I second (or third?) the question about the short haircut. I've been wanting to get a FID boy for ages but the lack of short hair wigs is keeping me from buying one.
I've had my eye on SophyMolly on Instagram, she takes commissions and has short wigs in her repertoire, like this one, it's 5-6 inches and can be styled, I guess. But I have no idea how much they cost or how long they take to make though.

 

Sophy Molly used to have an Etsy shop and there was a wig or three that I would've loved to have for my boys. When I last saw them on Etsy they were listed as $130CAD for the most basic (the one I really wanted was $179CAD) and unfortunately for me, that's more than I'm comfortable paying for a doll wig. They are really beautiful though.

 

I commisionned a wig from Ebidoll with a lace front for my Tedros ( $150 ) and unfortunatly I do not like the result on my doll T.T.
I am not comfortable paying this price again not matter how beautiful the wigs are.

And I really like the wigs Chewin does !
I wouldn´t be against a long wig, styled to be more masculine (with some braids on one side - my Tedros is an elf - for exemple).

Oh my those FID really aren´t easy to customise xD.

 

I was lucky enough that one of my newest boys (who wears a 5/6) liked a wig I already had. It's a touch loose on him but it's also mohair on-skin so there's usually a little looseness involved there. My other newest boy also wears a 5/6 and he hated the available wigs I have in his size. But he really likes a 7/8 I have (I was testing for colourway/style regardless of fit). Nobody is wearing the wig and the doll I bought it for hated it so I could take it apart and remake it for him by I don't know if I'm that motivated to do all that. I have done that sort of thing before so I know I can but it's a pain.

The Doll Peddler has some 5/6 wigs in stock and some of them are more masculine in style. If you're in the US, shipping shouldn't be too bad for you (shipping US/CAN is terribly expensive right now at $20-$25CAD for just a 5/6 doll wig, sometimes making the shipping more than the wig). Facets still has some Monique wigs in stock in 5/6 but the selection is getting smaller as time goes by.

I also have issues with wigs for the men dolls and would love some Chewin wigs for them.

Is it possible to purchase just a body from iplehouse?
I love their sculpts and have a few floating heads it would be perfect for, but I couldn't see at a quick glance an option (and price) for just the body.

 

No, they only sell complete dolls. If you just want a body, maybe you could see if there's anyone who wants just a head, then order the complete doll, body for you, head of their choice for someone else.

 

As MB Lilac said, they only sell full dolls. But I know that I, at least, would be very interested in an FID head without a body.

 

I would highly recommend posting a WTB or an offer to host/split in MP. There are a significant number of folks (hi) who would like the heads, but don't like the bodies.
Also, if you're willing to wait, Iplehouse has offered the "add-a-head" sale for their FIDs before - so you could find a couple people who want to buy heads, but they don't like the bodies.
As an aside - Raccoondoll does sell their bodies separately, and Raccoondoll was started by a former Iplehouse person (I strongly suspect the person who sculpted Iplehouse bodies). The Raccoondoll bodies are a perfect match for Iplehouse, and they have a lot more posing capabilities.

Please forgive my ignorance but I think I am missing something. I ordered two outfits from SartoriaJ from the 45/47 range and neither fit my FID ladies. That was a chunk of change to throw away so what did I get wrong please?

 

What did you order? And did they not fit as they were too big or small or another reason? The bodies aren’t exactly the same so I imagine the fit varies! Also which FID body and bust size do you have - athletic, slim or curvy? Hopefully if we have more details we can help you work it out!

 

I don't have any experience with SJ clothes or their MSD sized dolls but I sew for my Iplehouse FIDs and unless things are looser or knit styles I make very different patterns for each body style (I only have the slim and the athletic but even between those there are bust size variables too.)

Please tell us more and perhaps someone can help as to what has happened...hopefully you can find another home for these clothes and find some that fit your girl/boy?

Ah, okay! I don't have the athletic body myself, but judging from the measurements she is wider in the shoulders and I think waist than the SJ girls (or the other types of FID girls, for that matter.) I haven't bought any of the clothes for my girls as I sew for them, but I've found, for example, that the SJ girls are bigger in the waist and bust (if it's large bust) than the FID curvy girls, and an adjustable or stretch outfit is best to get a good fit. Tight fitting clothes that aren't adjustable are often a problem - like pants for example. But a stretch top might fit, or a dress that has lacing on the back so you can adjust the fit. So it's an annoying answer, as some things fit and some things don't, and sometimes you just have to take a gamble! But yeah, Athletic body with large breast is going to be larger than the other FID or the SJ sizes, so you haven't got as much leeway than others for fit, unfortunately.

Depending on how much too small it is, you might be able to have someone who can sew adjust the dress for you? But it depends on what the problem areas are! If it's just too small to close at the back you could maybe have lacing added or an extra bit of fabric. But otherwise you might have to sell those garments unfortunately and try something else!

 

@EmeraldPixie I have many SartoriaJ outfits, including the elf Agnes set. I have a fid lady on a curvey body small bust and in general all the sartoriaJ outfits are quite snug on her. The athletic and large bust is likely bigger, so a very tight fit. Some of SartoriaJ outfits are actually very very tight fits even on their own dolls. The Daphne set, for example, is quite difficult to put on a large bust girl and keep her covered appropriately.

I'm at three FID's these days but haven't shared much of my most recent - vampire claude which I purchased second hand. I've already had him for a whole year! but it took me almost this entire year to get around to giving him a new faceup haha.

Anyway made this little 'before and after' collage and I'm always amazed the difference a faceup makes!

I've just ordered a FID Leonard in NS with the "A" face up on the muscle body - very excited!!! My resolution this year is to try to NOT buy new dolls (I went a bit nuts last year), but I made the exception for him as I really wanted the muscle body, so I have all the male body types to sew for! That, and I have so many girls and hardly any boys, I feel like my Dane is lonely and wants some male company.

Now the wait begins!!!

@nancy_schroeder_ca - Thank you! I felt he could use something new. Something regal without chainmail, and still in his colours of black and gold, but with the addition of some gray.
@tinyflame - Lawrence is my favourite FID, and I ordered him during that very first release when there were just 3 FID guys. I actually considered ordering another to be his brother, but then realized he doesn't have a brother in his back story. Too bad!

My SartoriaJ outfit order just came in today, and put it on Doria immediately. I added a lacy overskirt so it can better match her hair, and certainly her two companions (RaccoonDoll Momo and SartoriaJ Demian) approve! The chemise is thin enough that the darker parts of her torso blushing shows through, so it's blurred out in the photo. XD

I'm wanting to do a iplehouse, Raccoondoll hybrid. I have an iplehouse body in glow special real, does anyone know what the closest resin match is with Raccoondoll?

 

I have a Raccoon Monica in Sweet Mocha, and she has Iplehouse hands in Special Real Skin, which match perfectly. At least with the resin colours as they were back in 2019

Here's a photo. I didn't like the default Raccoon hands at the time, so ordered her some Iplehouse hands with the long nails. Hopefully the Glow Real Skin would match as well, although I find that the Glow Special real skin is a bit more red than the regular ....

 

Oh that's a really good match! Yeah, I have two fids in special real and one in special real glow and there is a bit of a difference between the resin. So there probably will be between the glow and the sweet mocha but I can deal with that

I’m also delighted I liked him straight away (I’ve bought and sold a lot of dolls lately where I didn’t like them in person once they arrived!), and this wig I already had suits him very well, so I don’t need to even buy anything extra!!! I’m pondering trying brown eyes instead, but I probably won’t order right now, as I’m not sure. Not sure about a name either! I like Amadeus but then I get that song from the 80s stuck in my head! Leonardo maybe? Not sure! I'll have to think about how he fits in with the rest of my doll families now he's here - and make him some clothes!

Huh, it’s funny what names come to you! I’m actually leaning towards Leonardo as I contemplate him more - almost the sculpt name but fancier?! Plus my other FID boy is called Raphael so there’s a theme there!

 

Is there anyone here who knows whether Iplehouse and Supiadoll have any compatible resin matches for their colors? I’m mostly interested in NS or one of the lighter tan colors but I’m not too picky

im considering getting a 1/4 girl, with an JID or FID head on a Supia minisup body, and while I realize their resins might never match 100%, it would be nice to find something that’s in the same ballpark so that it can be blushed to look similar. Would also greatly appreciate if somebody here have both an FID/JID doll and a Minisup and can show me pics of how well they fit together ❤️
