Thank you. I always set up my scenes on my dining room table, which has a huge window facing west. I find that for really great atmospheric lighting, I need to use lit candles in my scene when it's a bright sunny morning outside. Later in the afternoon when the sun is coming into the room it doesn't work. And then there's the mirror. Those are tricky, since you don't want things reflected in it that you don't want to see.
Hello, everyone. Can someone help me with what size should I get for my MSD boy ? I tried to look for this information on their website, but couldn't find any. Thank you in advance.
As always absolutely stunning doll, photography, and set up. Martha you are so creative and talented.
Do you mean for clothing? I've found slim SD boy shirts fit my boy really well if I take in the waist a little. Same for pants if I hem them and nip in the waistband (my FID has a model body and his hips are too thin for MSD pants).
Ah! Most people I've heard from who also own FID will say 8/3, but I've got really bad dexterity and couldn't get them lined up without a gap. I've got a custom 10/3 pair coming in, because there's space for larger eyes. I've also heard they come with 6mm oval eyes, but I bought my boy secondhand and he came eyeless.
I had the opportunity recently to do another photo shoot at our son's movie studio. The first scene involved my Lawrence, posing for a portrait commemorating the tenth anniversary of becoming King...
Thanks. It's our youngest son and his partner who are so supportive. They consider my doll photography to be much like what they do in many ways, except I photograph scenes with dolls, and they work with real people. I also photographed the Christening of Baron and Naomi's babies. Lawrence and Monica were the godparents...
Oh my gosh, @MB Lilac, your photographs are stunning as always! Did you post the full shoots anywhere?
@nancy_schroeder_ca - Thank you. @dm_sof - Thank you. No, I haven't gotten to either story yet, and haven't finished processing all the photos either. I came down with Covid two weeks ago, and am still not feeling very well. If all goes well, the Christening will get posted on my website in ten days or so. I was really happy with the photos, although I'm thinking I would like to go back to the studio to reshoot the portrait story, since I got all kinds of additional ideas AFTER we got home. Maybe some time in the new year.
I just ordered my very first Fid, Rex on the muscle body he's going to be the witcher: Geralt of Rivia I already bought him a horse and some basic stuff
Ooooo, I'm looking forward to those pictures! I've thought about making a Geralt doll myself, but all the sculpts I've seen that instantly make me think of him are bigger than I want. Rex is a good choice, though!
aww thank you,I was doubting which sculpt I wanted from iple since they have so many options so I google image searched a picture of the witcher(Henry cavil version of said witcher) and then looked at the sculpts with no face up and decided that Rex was very close to the face shape of the witcher
A bit off topic, but exciting news as it looks like the fashion scale dolls are becoming more popular - Ringdoll have just released a version of one of their big SD dolls in fashion doll scale!!! VERY cheap and he has armour and a fancy staff and everything! Raymond 2.0 1/4 Scale Doesn't look like you can buy the outfit and armour separately, but I wonder if it fits FID? The doll is 50cm tall so it might?
A just because shot of Javier, my FID Dane, because I finally got around to putting his Chewin wig on him. A Little Wild by wizgerg3, on Flickr
For those of you who are interested in creating families: I took a couple of comparison pictures of various parents with the new Raccoon Kid doll. Happy New Year!
You are doing a fantastic job of tempting me LOL...the new child size looks awesome with this scale Thanks for the photos!
This photo is not New Year's at all ... but, agree that a smartly dressed young lady always looks festive ...
OMG my order just shipped( a fid rex) this was super fast considering I ordered him on 15th of December
You have exquisite taste! I love Geralt! I read all the books written by Andrzej Sapkowski about him and fell in love! He is one of the best Heroes! I will be waiting for your Geralt of Rivia ... Have you thought about creating Yennefer from Wengerberg?
Thank you, although I love Yennefer I prefer male dolls and I ship Geralt with Jaskier so.. now I'm looking for a Jaskier
I will wait for the realization of beautiful images of worthy Heroes! I wish you success from the bottom of my heart!
I'd love to get Wisp the Incubus set (Noel's default) but it doesn't seem to be available separately. My wallet is very relieved about that.
I just noticed Iplehouse is having a sale on wigs, shoes, clothes, lots of things! Thought I'd point this out to the group.
I love how they pose. I have large dolls and this size and these are lighter and therefore easier to manipulate The male dolls knees are a bit weak, probably because the dolls are muscular and there is weight at the top but they are superb as well. I don't have any issues getting mine to stand for photos etc. Floral Chiffon Dress by LyanneNZ, on Flickr There is a Flickr album below - I haven't taken many photos of them more recently but plan to fix that soon Iplehouse FID
LyanneNZ I am an ardent admirer of your BJD beauties and your professional skills as a photographer! It's always nice to remember summer in winter ... My Vanessa is a summer flower
Thanks so much Olga! I feel badly for my FIDs as they have been neglected in recent years and its not because I don't still absolutely love them. I plan to work on that! In fact I am making something new for them right now. I need to get on to some wig making for them so that they can have some new looks. Vanessa does indeed look like a summer flower. We are in the middle of our summer now and for some reason I keep making more wintery outfits - coats etc.
I love the Rex sculpt - he is still on my wish list! I finally made something new - a coat - for my FID girls and teamed it with some pieces I already had for a photo shoot...it's been a while since Miho got changed so was nice to see her in something different. I need to work on my FID dolls' wardrobes again! Orchid Suede Coat by LyanneNZ, on Flickr
Just bought a 1/3 blank Violet on layaway in NS with jeans, light top, earrings, blazer. They will send a free brown wig and pink ruched dress. I have had two of their I/3 heads for years. I wonder if the older head will fit. I hope I can make Violet look Korean like my crew. I have Yumi so I’ve been impressed with the body posing. Here is Yumi in milk mocha with her boyfriend Garam. All the time I knit clothes for my girls, I use different technologies, weaving and patterns. But, strangely enough, simple stripes always look good and emphasize the advantages of the outfit and figure
