I just checked. He is a smaller version of the first Falcon doll. The outfit is nice. I wish he was sporting some kind of facial hair. He is tempting nevertheless!
I'm looking to buy some eyes for a new fid I've just bought. I have the option of just 8mm or from another seller 8mm with a 4.5mm iris. Does anyone know if either of these options will work?
8mm in oval shape is the best, the 4.5 iris may be too big unless you like big size irises. 3.5-4 is what I find to be my taste but every eye size is different depending on the brand.
My Baron's new look. He was repainted by Lisa Jameson (Pepstar) and was her final commission before announcing her retirement. I made him a new wig from the same mohair as his original wig.
Thank you @rosehollow and @morganatron . They don't normally wear these robes but I was playing around with poses for a future photo shoot.
I've joined the FID owner club! Bought Dylan secondhand here. He didn't come with default eyes, though, and his regular eyes I ordered are in the mail, so no photos yet.
Last week I got my MSD Aphrodite Jenice from the Tarot collection, I'm not sure if it's limited and won't be released anymore. Still waiting for new eyes for her to arrive. I will add some photos to Flickr today and upload them here
@Anita2006 - As much as I am anxious to see your new Aph Jenice...make sure you put her in the SartroiaJ thread...not the Iplehouse thread...which this is.
My FID Lahela got a new sweater. It's a Daniel Bingham pattern (available on Etsy) and is originally for 16" dolls but since I knitted it in a heavier yarn it ended up fitting my FID girls...they're happy as they have been waiting ages for new clothes. Pringle Sweater by LyanneNZ, on Flickr
@LyanneNZ I love that sweater, lovely pink too. After having Vera almost a year she finally has her own wig.
@Loganberry That's a beautiful wig but I love her jumper, where did you get that or what wool did you make it out of?
@Crissaegrim thanks! I got the jumper from Sora bjd fashion. It's made for Pasha Pasha original so it's on the long side but works well as an oversized jumper in my opinion.
I love her wig! It's nice and sleek and close to her head so it looks realistic. I also love Vera, we don't see enough Veras
@LyanneNZ Thanks. Yeah, I really love the wig, the only problem is now I want similar ones for my other 3 girls . Vera is sort of understated. In my opinion the iplehouse promo pics don't do her justice.
That sweater is wonderful @LyanneNZ !! So detailed and SO pretty! Your gal looks gorgeous in that wig (and sweater) @Loganberry !!
I'm a little speechless each time I see one of your photos. Yes, the details are incredible. When I consider the care and attention of every single element of your outfits...truly amazing and such a treat to see. I struggle to find simple fabrics and elements to tie together a simple daywear outfit let alone the vast array of fabrics, trims and notions that you meld together to create such mini works of art. And aside from all of that...Rex is seriously handsome
@dm_sof - Thank you. This size doll is my favourite size to make costumes for, and I love trying to create all the little details. @LyanneNZ - Thank you so much! I've had a lot of experience making Fantasy and Historical-inspired costumes this size from back in the nineties when my sister and I made art dolls this same size. Back in those days there were more fabric shops around and I'd buy a yard of anything that appealed to me, so I have quite a collection of nice brocades. Old clothes at the secondhand store sometimes provides nice soft brocades as well. Unfortunately small scale trims are a lot more difficult to find, and I don't like buying stuff online sight unseen. So my stash is quickly shrinking. Which means resorting to embroidery and beading instead. And yes, Rex is very handsome. I loved him from the very first when IH released him in the larger size, so was thrilled when he came out in FID size. He's currently my model for the Phantom as the Red Death, since he's my only guy without facial hair. Not that anyone will even know he's under that mask when it's all done.
Thank you @dm_sof and @nancy_schroeder_ca . Here's one last photo of my couple after their performance, with Rex not wearing the mask.
@MB Lilac This is just once again breathtaking. Just out of curiositiy: Will you get one of these, for Baron and Naomi a couple of years later? Hurray – Kids in scale with the fashion doll size! I would love to see them in your costumes .
Thank you. No, I'm not going to get one of those Raccoon dolls. I personally find their heads too big on too thin a neck, and their heads really aren't much smaller than an Iple KID. I'm not a fan of Racoon dolls in general, except for the Monica sculpt. I have two MyYou toddlers to become Baron and Naomi's children once I get past the porcelain baby stage. I don't know if they will ever grow up. No one else's children do. I'm just going to continue using KIDs and BIDs as children for my FIDs. They all inhabit a fantasy world after all, and I can see past the head size discrepancies. The worst are the Iple KIDs with their huge tops of heads, but that can be minimized with wigs, hats, and camera angles. And I have too many of them to try replace them.
Pity the new Raccoon girls are not for you. The head body proportions looked a bit odd with the first doll (Juliet), but I think the latest three are much improved. But if anyone can make the Iple kids look in scale with camera angles it's you.
Hi everyone! I love this thread, the pics you share are so inspiring. I don't think I have ever posted here, so I'd like to introduce my FID Baron https://i.imgur.com/7Gmd2sj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vLklNTF.jpg
I looked at their size comparison again, and it looks like the new Raccoon KIDs would be the proper proportions to go with our FIDs. The three newest sculpts are rather nice, but I wouldn't want to replace all my existing family's children. They all have their own looks and personality. Maybe I'd consider trying one with an entirely new family grouping. But then, would they make my Iple KID's look too bobble-headed if they got too close to each other? But then, I've also seriously run out of room, and shouldn't really be buying more dolls. The key word being 'shouldn't'. Like, how does one actually stop?
@Seed-Singer HOT! Very nice pictures - @MB Lilac You are so right about that. I don't have space either, but somehow there's always a corner in the closet where another doll would fit. And they are tiny, so they take up little space . I never mixed the FID/Raccoons and Kids, they exist in different worlds, so I wont be faced with that problem. I wouldn't want to replace my kids either- but of course I just have four of them. Just happy that there is a proportional kid for a future mom. I am not sure if one of my existing males will be the dad or if I have to buy another guy to create a new family... Hehe- BJD lover problems.
@ResinRapture - LOL. I know the problem only too well. There's just too many great dolls out there, and one of mine could always use another sister, brother, child, or friend. We just got back from our annual autumn road trip, and this time I took Eden and Yvette (Yur). They've only ever been background characters in other people's stories, so it was high time they got to go on an adventure on their own.
Made a new dress for mini Lahela Her red shoes are from He-Meife (Minifee size). Floral Chiffon Dress by LyanneNZ, on Flickr
@LyanneNZ The dress looks like a summer day. Beautiful. I accidentally cut the same pattern piece twice and used the "useless" part to make this shirt.
@LyanneNZ and @ResinRapture - What stylish and lovely handmade creations for your dolls to wear you both have made!
Thank you. I have several sets of foam core walls that I made, which become the background walls, and then I decorate with paintings and wallhangings I made. This particular scene just used my stone castle interior walls, because it was already on the table. I just changed the furniture and decor.
