Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 11

May 21, 2020

    1. I want some of that cake! Waaaah! LOL :D @MB Lilac

    2. @MB Lilac That room looks so classy and victorian - wish my appartement would have such furniture ;)

    3. LOL. It's actually not even a 'room', just a few furniture pieces set up on my dining room table. I always take photos from the window end, so the hallway beyond the dining room stands in for 'background walls'.

    4. I can relate. I have so few good empty walls in my small Victorian house. The larger dolls are even more limiting! Always a fixture, wire, old telephone jacks, plugs, doorstops, or heavy furniture in front of any potential walls. I also construct temporary rooms with poster boards, drapes, posters, backdrops, and screens.

    5. Hello :)

I couldn't find it on the salespage. Does anyone know what size eyes FID Lahela wears?

    6. I have size 8 with small iris in mine??

      • x 1
    7. I use 6mm eyes from BlueberryStyle on etsy. The look real good. 8mm with small iris would be an option too, of course.

      • x 2
    8. My Lahela has 8mm with a 3mm iris, it gives a nice realistic look :)

    9. Darling outfit and she looks so gorgeous in it!

    10. Your Lahela is stunning โค๏ธ

    11. It does always screw with my head for a flashing moment when I realize the weather is opposite on the other half of the world, LOL. I think it was a profound realization in my childhood or something, ROFL. Still, we had 90 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday, and it was pretty warm today as well, so it's not like we ever get any real weather here as it is :( (supposed to rain next week though, YAAAAAY!!!) January = hot July = sweltering and of course, in August, Hell comes for it's yearly visit :D

Anyways, your Lahela is just gorgeous, as always, @LyanneNZ

      • x 1
    12. I am waiting for Snow here in southern VA, but that ain't happening. I keep seeing images of Snow and I want just 5 inches and 20 degree weather just for 1 month to kill all the germs in the air. And to take pictures of my dolls in, Winter where are you??

    13. @LyanneNZ Your girl looks gorgeous in her summer outfit! Lahela is such a beautiful sculpt!
Yeah, winter ... a thing from mythic ages in this part of Germany. Itยดs not even really cold, and next week itยดs supposed to get warmer, much to my dismay. I will join @derilan85 in her search for winter!

      • x 2
    14. Snow, sleet, and rain here in New England today. Slush yuck!
So far a mild winter. When I moved here 50 years ago, we had 4 feet of snow often.

    15. It's weird isn't it how our seasons are opposite! No chance of a white Christmas here haha

This outfit might be a little more suited to where you are at the moment...maybe with the addition of a hat and scarf? :D

    16. Actually, this week, shorts and tank top are perfect, LOL. Pretty outfit though @LyanneNZ :D

    17. @LyanneNZ She looks awesome- where do you get clothes like those if I may ask?

    18. HOLY COW - she looks STUNNING!!!!

    19. Thanks @Ashemanu I make almost all of my girls' own clothes.

Thanks @Ban Sidhe I love the Lahela sculpt and it was lovely to paint her. (I'd happily have lots more of this sculpt if I could!)

    20. Has anyone that ordered Bibiane received her yet?

    21. Zinna i was told they gonna ship mine beginning of february
I donยดt think that anybody got her yet

    22. Thank you for your answer. I am looking forward to se her and the others ones. I hope the travel time won't be to long.
I ordered mine in the beginning of December...

    23. Hallo,

Apperantly I had posted this in the wrong discussion.

I have a question. I'm planning on buying a male fid when they're next available again.
I'm also planning on commissioning an outfit for him. But for that commission I would need exact measurements for the model type body. I don't know if someone can help me out?
I would love to get his outfit around the same time as him if possible (then he won't have to stay in the box for two months).

    24. @Cuffs The table Iplehouse provides on the sale page should answer a lot of those!
Edit: Do you know which body you're buying? I have a Muscle guy to measure, but not a Model.

    25. @Cuffs I am sure your seamstress makes wonderful stuff, but depending on the amount of money and the level of tailoring required it might be wiser to commission somebody who does own a model body Fid doll.

Even if you have all the measurements and can draft or alter a pattern, if you don't have the doll to try stuff on you can't really see how it fits when the doll is posing. And when you get the outfit and it doesn't fit- what are you going to do? If the person you order from owns the doll in question and sends out an outfit that doesn't fit, the situation is a bit different. Just a thought.

      • x 1
    26. That's why I won't ever make something just from measurements before a doll arrives. I always wait for my doll to arrive - unless of course, I already have a doll with the exact same body.

      • x 1
    27. @redsixwing I would buy the model body, but still, thank you so much that you would've been willing to give me them to me! :)

@ResinRapture Hmm, you're right of course, I hadn't thought about that. I should propably hold off on buying the doll then until I can find someone who can make the sort of outfit I want, with the doll body I want. I wouldn't want a doll with no outfit, or settle for the very few clothes that are available.
Thank you though, you've given me something to think about. I know next to nothing about sewing or making any type of clothing. But you're right that I wouldn't want to pay a lot of money just to have the outfit not fit my doll.

      • x 2
    28. My fid Bibiane is in shipping now/ maybe she makes it home until my birthday. That would be nice.

i ordered mine a few days after her first release in October.

      • x 1
    29. @Cuffs Maybe if you could tell us what kind of outfit you want we could recommend somebody? There are quite a few options for ready made clothes for them on Etsy (like SartoriaJ, CityofMasters, Katushka and so on).
And it will take a while before your doll would arrive, so if you want it, go ahead. You'll find clothes for him eventually. Maybe he tells you his style is completely different from what you had thought would be right for him. Dolls tend to do that :D

    30. Order was placed on December 5th and got the shipping notification on the January 15th, received my boys home yesterday. Shipping charge has increased but it was always fast from Korea to Canada.

So, here's one of my FID boys. I'll need to buy more eyes for them, does anyone knows about how does 6mm small iris looks like for FIDs?
Let's play a guessing game together? :chibi

    31. Khlovera I really wonder about why the wait times are so various. Cause... when I ordered Rexy it took over 4 months. I ordered Bibiane when she was released and you ordered your guy in December and he is already home? He is coolio.
Strange- isnยดt it. Not meaned rude or anything- I hope it does not sound like that. I just wonder about if new sculpts are trickier to produce or if they have a list what country to serve first and later? Dunno

    32. @greeneyed-soul One of my friend that ordered in September is still waiting for hers to be produce, also not shipped yet and she is located in Canada, too. Seems like the first batch of order in December is super quick, Iโ€™ve heard a few persons that I know received their shipping notice in the very first week of January.

Edit: For reference only, I received my orders of December 2019 in the end of February and April 2020...so, really donโ€™t know :nosebleed by luck?

    33. Khlovera I donยดt remember where but - some people were discussing if they serve people from USA frist. But I donยดt know if itยดs true. Well.... she is on her way and I hope she turns out better than Rexy.
I bought Rexy on the curvy body and she was super pinheaded and it looked like "letยดs squeeze her face into an egg = thats her head". So... her journey went on.

    34. Other than KIDs and BIDs, does anyone have a doll that looks like a tween or older kid next to an FID?
I'm thinking I need a teenage witch in my coven of mature witches..

    35. @ResinRapture Thank you for the suggestion! But I got contacted by someone who had both bodies and would take commissions. They seem quite talented and better yet, they're very excited about what I want. Which is a blessing since you can't exactly buy what I want with ready made outfits for fids. And I imagine not many people would want to take that commission.
This doll will be for a character I've been writing about for years, so I doubt the clothes will change much. But yeah, I've had that happen with dolls that weren't pre existing characters for sure!
To give you a vague idea of the vibe of clothes I wanted:

Of course, only things that would be possible and changes made for making something like that for an fid ect. But things like the hood, the corset and stuff wouldn't be something I could just buy. It's more just the vibe of this. Not this exactly. (does that make sense? I hope that makes sense) But I want to give my assasin boy some good clothes.

    36. @Cuffs That looks like an exciting project. Can't wait to see the result.

@skyealloway You could try the curvy FID body, they are smaller-about the size of Raccoon. Or you could put a Raccoon head on a JID body. I'll take pictures for you later today. I am not sure if the new JID body is slimmer, but the old body looks a bit bulky in the shoulders.

    37. Any chance you could share contacts?

If you haven't discovered these names yet I can Highley recommend: @
saphar_bjd_tailoring, I am waiting for customised outfit for my model body Arvid , she is an absolute genius. And I also love the quality of contemporary clothes, jeans in particular by @jeansbyjenna

    38. @ResinRapture well I have a curvy FID who would be the adult in this scenario, so a tween or early teen next to her. I hadn't thought about the JID body, that might be interesting. I've been researching for a while now, I think something right at 38-40cm tall would look right...gotta find one with the right size head...

    39. The thing is children are a lot taller than one thinks, and early teens are often the same height as their parents. All my grandchildren were. My fifteen year old grandson is the tallest in his family, already over six feet tall. My twelve year old granddaughters are the same height as their mothers, and sometimes wear their clothes.

Narae is just over 40 cm and has a smaller head than the standard MSD, so could pass for a teen.

      • x 3
    40. I agree with @MB Lilac , I think it's probably easier to create a bit of a height difference with heels and the body types classic and curvy, and do the rest with styling. Mari, Bianca or some other very young looking sculpts should work well as teens.

    41. Thank you very much @ResinRapture that is very insightful!

I wonder, since everyone says the Rexy head seems too small, if she'd be a good hybrid to a smaller body. If only the heads were sold separately.
Hm, I don't remember how old I was exactly but as a teen I did eventually grow taller than my mom. I have some nieces and nephews in the 12-13yr old range that still just aren't quite full grown, so that's kind of what I'm thinking of as a guide. Preteen is probably the more appropriate term for what I was looking for .

      • x 1
    42. @skyealloway my pleasure.
Dollmore has some 16" fashion dolls, but I have no idea how they would look. Probably too thin and small. And there are 16" Tonner dolls of course.
I believe @LyanneNZ has a couple of Antoinettes and other Tonners, maybe she could provide a side by side.

    44. I can help! I've been wanting to do this too! Here's the info I found: roqdoll put a Raccoondoll Mika head on a Bimong body and it looked really great, here's her post showing her next to a Raccoondoll and an FID: Login โ€ข Instagram Honestly, it looks so good, I'd love to do that myself, but I really can't be buying new dolls right now. :)

In terms of head matching - all I can find is Raccoondoll, no one else seems to make heads that small! And they are a bit smaller than FID, I think. I think you'd have to choose a young looking sculpt and try and make her look young with a face-up.

Someone else suggested a Withdoll hybrid, and I have a Withdoll, so here's a Raccondoll head on a Withdoll original body next to a Raccoondoll because I forgot this thread was in the Iplehouse thread not the Raccoondoll one, sorry. D: Well, they're the same size anyway more or less and my FID doesn't have a face-up yet, so hopefully this gives you an idea:

...I actually don't mind it? I didn't think it would work, but I think it might? Maybe with a different head, I do feel the head is a bit big, but I feel Emma has a bit of a wide face, and a different Raccoondoll head might work. Which is bad news for me, as now I'm tempted to use this body for another one of my FID/Raccoondoll crew instead! :D

I should note this is the original Withdoll body, with the large bust, but they've since released a new one which is a bit taller and has more joints, don't know how that would look. The normal skin match is good, but I do have an old doll and I don't know if Withdoll have changed their resin at all.

I've also got a female Raccoondoll head on a Dollzone B45-018 body to make a younger, slimmer looking boy, if anyone wants to see photos of that? But many Dollzone bodies have that elusive small neck making a match possible - so maybe there's a female one that would work? Here's the page to see, I quite like the one with the cut out heart: Doll Body : BJD - Alice's Collections - BJD Dolls, BJD Accessories

...Apologies for the giant post, I feel like anytime anyone asks about hybrids I jump in with WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION because I research these things obsessively. Anyway, hope it helps! :D

      • x 3
    45. @morganatron Thank you so much for this! In regards to information on possible hybrids there's no such thing as too much. I think these two look really good together.

    46. @morganatron this is awesome! That mika bimong hybrid does look spectacular, it's funny because I was just looking at bimong dolls last night and wondering!

I really like the fit of the raccoondoll and withdoll hybrid. That hybrid would certainly be easier to acquire the parts for lol.

I see that jpopdolls opened a pre-order for raspberry asella again...I wonder if she would work as a preteen or not. She has the small bust and small features.

I might actually do the hybrid on the withdoll body thou that looks great and I have an extra head lying about...

    47. I made a new wig for my Grace today. She originally had an auburn Ellowynne Rose wig, but is was just too fly-away, and synthetic looking. The mohair is much more in scale...

      • x 14
    48. To add on to the hybrid discussion - I realised it might be helpful to people to see all my hybrid and semi in scale dolls together in one pic, so here goes:

Left to right: Raccoondoll (RD) head on original Withdoll girl body, RD head on JID body with glamour bust, FID boy, FID girl, RD girl head on Dollzone B45-018 boy body, Raccoondoll girl, and Myou Tiny Gina in front of the FID boy. Phew!

Please note though that they're all on stands about 1-2 cm high (you can see it clearly on the boy hybrid), except the FID boy, the Withdoll girl and the Myou tiny. So the height comparison is a bit off with those ones. Also apologies for the random mish-mash of styles and that some dolls don't have face-ups yet!

So if you're after some variety in this size - the JID body, with the glamour bust, makes a nice almost plus size looking girl, a bit shorter than the standard size - and normally the resin would match too but my JID is old and a bit yellowed. The Withdoll/RD hybrid makes a nice teenage looking or just short girl - the head is slightly large but it's not bad. The Myou tiny has maybe a slightly too small head, but is better than any other YoSD or mature tinies I've found for looking like a child next to the FIDs. She does have a slight bust which I intend to dremel flat at some point. And the DZ body with RD girl head makes a nice slimmer/younger male, if you don't want all your guys big and muscley! Note that you do need to use a female RD head, the male will look too big I think.

I think one of the most important things to consider for hybrids in neck size, as most MSDs will have too large a neck for the 5-6 size heads - but all these ones work pretty well. The JID is maybe a little big, but I think you can get away with it.

So there we go! Hope that's helpful to any other obsessive hybrid makers out there! :D

      • x 3
    49. @morganatron Wow, that's a great comparison. Thank you! Too bad Withdoll doesn't offer the old body as a choice. I wish Raccoon would make Kid-sized doll bodies and heads. I don't think Iple will, even if the demand would be there. I am not sure why they don't get it. Especially because customers would probably be tempted to get a man as well to create a complete family if they just have Fid girls.

    50. @morganatron I had no idea you had so many hybrids in your collection. It's a fantastic group. I love having variety and you've got so many great ideas, thank you!

    51. I wish they'd make in scale kids too! Or someone would! :D It would be great to have a whole family!

Thank you!!! Well, the Withdoll one was only supposed to be temporary to try it out for the photo, but I like it so much I'm now planning on getting another Raccoondoll head to make it happen when I can! Whenever Raccoondoll sells heads on there own and shipping is available to Australia again I guess! And yes, I love having a bit of variety too! And using doll bodies I already have to add to the crew! :D

      Edit: BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!
...I swear I will stop after this, really. :)
Suddenly realised this morning I had yet more slim Minis I could try, so I thought why not? Lets see how they look!

So here we have RD head on Impldoll Child male body, FID and RD for comparison, then RD head on Souldoll kid general body. Both bodies being old and horribly yellowed, sorry. I also tried the Impldoll Child girl body but it was far too small and looked laughable, so no.

Thoughts: Impldoll boy actually looks like a teenage boy to me, and bonus, it's a super cheap body, $138 I believe! No idea of the resin match and the white skin did yellow very quickly, but I think they've changed their resin since then, I don't know for the better or not. I like it, and if I wanted a teenage boy in that scale I'd absolutely use this. It's a really nice body apart from the yellowing for such a cheap price.

Souldoll: OH NO I LOVE IT. I now desperately want to make a grumpy vampire teenage daughter with this body. So that's one more existing doll losing her head and another head I now have to buy at some point. Damn it! I don't even care that it's super yellowed, I'm just going to live with it. Bad points: this body is discontinued by Souldoll so if anyone else wants to do this you'd have to get it secondhand. Sorry, that's really unhelpful, isn't it? I had a normal skin Souldoll for a bit though and the resin match with NS Raccoondoll was good. Well, with new dolls, I don't know about aged ones.

...Okay, I'll stop dominating the thread with my hybrid-mania now and let someone else have a go at posting. :D

    52. My girl is here!!! Her head is too small (even by FID standards) but I made her a wig, which helps disguise that - clothes help too ;) I did a quick digital mockup, but will try to get to do a real faceup this weekend. (one that looks a bit more 'natural') She is wearing a MNF top, which is too tight in the armpits and a bit short, but I see how I can adjust my patterns, and JID boy pants, which fit her perfectly O.O
Anyhoo... here's my Amy (PG Bibiane) in, hopefully, her last incarnation!
[IMG]bib amy by Ban, on Flickr

PS: anyone know where to get GOOD eyelashes for such a small face?

EDIT: I modded her eyes open a bit to make her look younger. Don't want to misrepresent for all of you getting the same sculpt.

    54. IF Iplehouse is having a hard time getting the female heads to match up in proportion to the bodies they are using someone should let them know at least.

    55. Oh my gosh, she's gorgeous like that @Ban Sidhe ! I need to learn how to do mock-ups like that on the computer, mine turn out horrible, LOL

    56. Yes, incredibly, the formula used to be the height of a 2 year old child is 1/3 of it's eventual adult height. That makes a 2 year old pretty big. And it explains why they get so heavy so fast!!! LOL :D

    57. I agree - people always seem to get proportions wrong on kids and young adults.

I will send a message to Iple re: head size, but not sure what they can do about it...
