Both are in normal skin... the lighting in my apartment sucks and even though I had the curtain open, it was really cloudy out so that didnt help. The faceup is pretty spot on ^^

 

Iple just did a stunning custom job for me and I'm literally in love with my new doll. I fangirl every time I look at her.

Very close in every way; I can see no major differences. My guy's lips are a little shinier and maybe a bit deeper shade.

 

I've noticed the lips of a lot of dolls are coming with a 'gloss' finish where the promo shots seem to be 'matte'... anyone else think this? And yes darker too a tiny bit.

 

It's possible that if they used some kind of diffused light, the lips may look more matte in their photos than the ones people take at home. Like a soft box or something. I think lighting accounts for some of those subtle differences though I couldn't say for sure.

 

If they didn't seal the lips before taking their promo pics, that could explain both the lack of gloss and the lighter color. I know when I seal what I've painted, it invariably darkens the colors to some extent - and of course, adds the shine if I'm using a glossy or satin sealant.

The difference isn't a big one, and I like him both ways.

 

You can see the gloss on the lips and eyelids of the Leonard promo photo, though -- it's definitely more reflective than the surrounding skin. I think they must use very diffused lighting for their photos, to get that very soft shine effect.

I was using two umbrellas for light diffusion, though.

Okay I have asked about one example of which do I pay for (simple or complex) custom face.

I figured this would be a good place to put this bit of info since it applies to company face up issues?

If you order a doll and want a face up from another 'same size' doll with no changes to the alternate face up... you order 'simple'

my example is:
KID Peach with KID Joy face B with less heavy cheek blush.... I order a 'simple custom' ^^. (I think I will be getting this in 2 weeks so I asked this combo specifically )

 

Oh man that'll be really helpful when I order my Storm, I was his faceup A but with blond eyebrows^^

 

I love this thread! Does anyone have Ashanti, real skin, faceup B so I can compare her with the Iple photos?

I received my DC nYID Juan "Jude" and got a custom simple makeup on him. I asked for Juan Type A Faceup with nYID Eddie Type A eyeshadow and lips.

His eyeshadow is much darker (pretty sure it's the original Juan Type A), his lips are much lighter, and his eyebrows are much thicker than Juan Type A (somewhere between Type A and B). But I still LOVE him. I think he turned out beautiful despite not looking quite like my request. Their faceups are gorgeous

Both are in real skin.

He is nearly exact right down to the placement of his moles.
He looks quite different, I think, with the smaller eyes.

 

Thought I'd share two examples of sculpts whose faceups I requested to be "borrowed" from other Iple dolls. These two were purchased in the last surplus head sale Iple held, earlier this year:

BID Bonnie in RS... O asked that he receive BID Elin's Basic faceup B:







And nYID Justin, for whom I requested renewed Theo faceup B:



Both Iple faceups came out pretty much exactly as their pictures showed them, although translating them onto different sculpts and different color resins makes them look somewhat different.

 

I realize now I haven't added Lacie and Josh in so I will!

I ordered Ragnar, my Arvid, in (new) RS with Face-up C, and was quite pleased with how he turned out.

Bane's beardless faceup is spot on...



Both are realskin - my light exposure is different, which accounts for the difference in the tan shades, but the faceup itself is pretty much exactly like the promo pics.

 

For some reason, I thought I had posted my girl in this thread when she arrived last November--and now I realize I never did!

Anora is an nYID Soo with a simple custom faceup. She needed a natural look and brows which would match the character's dark grey hair (which she sometimes dyes brown). Eventually (after scouring the website for the right faceups to cobble together) I sent this to Iplehouse:



After I had ordered, I was concerned that they might not paint Soo's slightly-visible teeth, since I didn't explicitly mention them, but they absolutely did!



They did an amazing job.

This is my Mari with Elemental Guardians faceup A, purchased through the Custom Doll Choice System on an nYID body. I love this faceup so much, I think she looks so sweet and innocent~ (//> w <\\) Definitely spot-on from Iple's promo pics. :3

Any of Luo's default faces? He has his wig on in all the promo pictures. I'm leaning towards B but I'd like to see the others better.

 

Lahela HID from the 'Bring It On' Limited Edition Series. I choose her in peach gold, with 'D-type' face-up. The face-up was shown on realskin Lahela. I am well pleased with how it turned out.

I purchased Zera from a collector friend, in September of 2014. The notes I have from when I bought her, that her face-up was 'A' for Zera. I believe the 'A' choice now is different.
