Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID ) Part III

Oct 19, 2014

    1. i have so many photos of Ember too, she got all kinds of goodies like the spoiled child she is lol

    2. Hi, Selenae!! You might want to check out the Dairyland BJD group (they have a website here, although I think they may also have a meetup thread in the Meetups section on here), because there are nearly always people who are happy to share their stringing expertise :)

Stringing tension can be a personal taste -- I normally *don't* restring my Iples when they come home, and many of mine have never been restrung unless I was doing some kind of maintenance or blushing.

In terms of "issues," Iple dolls are actually really high-quality and seem to have a pretty high rate of customer satisfaction.

There is occasionally some grumbling about shipping times at the beginning of each year (they usually run a Christmas event that creates a lot of incoming orders at the same time), and some people have preferences for stringing that are a little different than the stock (but stringing too tight increases the likelihood of breakage in transit.)

There was an "issue" at the beginning of 2014 when they had to change their resin suppliers, so the doll colors changed slightly -- now, they have been producing consistent, beautifully-colored resin for many months now. (The reason they chose a different source was that the previous one was unreliable -- now, they have a reliable supply of raw materials, and the colors of new dolls have been very consistent for many months now.)

I think you'll be very happy with your choice, if you go with Iple

SD13 clothes are going to be a mix-and-match -- SD13 boy shoes should fit, but a Volks SD13 is shorter and chunkier than an Iple nYID boy. I've had good luck with mine wearing SD17-sized clothes, a smattering of 70cm/Dollshe-sized clothes, and they can wear EID female clothing, as well as Dollmore Model female clothing. (I don't particularly cross-dress my boys, but black tank tops and ripped-up leggings are pretty much unisex, in my book.)

I haven't found a great non-Iple source for jeans, so if you want your boy to wear them, splurge on jeans from Iple, and you can save on things like t-shirts.

I'm also disabled (I'm a wheelchair user most of the time due to a genetic connective-tissue disorder, and I have neuropathy in both hands that messes with my grip strength and dexterity), and your BEST FRIEND in any dolly restringing endeavors is to buy a couple of pairs of hemostats.

You can buy them from some doll companies, but it's a lot cheaper to buy them from a hardware/medical supply store, or from Amazon (free delivery on this one!) You want the straight ones, not curved. They are also interchangeably referred to as "forceps" or "locking forceps," but if you look for a "hemostat," you know that you're getting the right tool.

The other tools that I recommend are a head puller and string puller, both from Luts.

The reason I specifically recommend this brand is because I've been using my Luts string pullers since 2005, and I have only had to buy a replacement once -- they've held up through literally *hundreds* of uses. The head puller is a more recent invention, but it's incredibly handy (one-handed!) in conjunction with a pair of forceps -- you hook the head stringing, pull the head away from the body, and nip one of your hemostats into the gap -- that will hold the elastic tension, so that you can remove the head easily in order to change the eyes or the stringing tension around the knot.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about stringing or dolly maintenance when dealing with a disability -- I'm happy to offer whatever techniques/suggestions that I can!

(BTW, these tools will work on your Volks girl, as well -- and the hemostats and head puller will still be helpful for your Oceanmoon tiny, although the stringing tool will be too big to go through her little limbs.)

      * * *

The Raven, congratulations on Lydia's arrival! She looks fantastic, and I'm sure Henry will be delighted to have his glamorous partner-in-crime finally home to stay! :D

Jo, your Stella/Ausley hybrid is so pretty -- and I love that antique outfit on her!

In response to your question about Makos -- yes, they normally do a really good job of fitting corner-to-corner (better than Dollshe eyes, which are a little too highly-domed in the overall shape of the eye, and tend to gap a little bit -- I still use Dollshe eyes for my JIDs and my Vamp!Claude, because their metallic copper is such a fantastic color, and I'll take the slight gap as the price I pay for awesome), and while they don't fit every eye socket perfectly, they're the closest to perfect that I've found :thumbup

Since we're speaking of Stellas . . . here's Eva, my Stella, in Mako eyes -- as you can see, they're a great corner-to-corner fit for her:

      Hope that helps!

      -- A :kitty2

    3. Look at Masterpiece eyes - soft-glass, goes down to 5mm in size. Their 11mm has a slightly larger iris than eyeco 11mm, so their 9mm might suit you. Lots of colours too.

    4. If you try that bit that I told you about (pulling out each limb separately one after the other like it says on the restringing instructions) that should help and keep you from having to restring any time soon hopefully. I'm also planning on putting a bit of hot glue in Lydia's knee if it keeps bending like it has been.

Thanks! I'm so happy with her :D

A congrats to you too! lol. And you got a JID Amy? I wasnt sure if that was just the name you gave her or if that was the sculpt name too ^^ I've never been to an EXPO so I have no idea if I'd buy a doll from there or not. But she sounds like a steal even with the yellowing!

You forgot that they dropped the french resin mix because they couldnt get it anymore. Hence why the colors changed ^^ PG and RS most noticeably since they are no longer translucent.

And thanks! I really really want to make their victorian clothes and do some photoshoots. I might just do one of the photoshoots with the clothes I have for them since they are period looking enough to work for the time being. First things first, Lydia needs switched into her heel feet, I need to body blush Henry, blush their hands, and learn how to use my new sewing machine... plus Lydia's wig cap needs to arrive to prevent her hair from falling off constantly (I hope it fits... got her a 7/8 one from MoC because I already have the 8-9(9-10) one and it is too big).

    5. I changed Haraces eyes again today - these are 10mm Leekeworld eyes, and they appear to fit. I accidentally knocked one of her eyes lashes out though, so that was a faff about gluing it back in. Also, tried out a new wig. I love this colour, but the fit is too big. She does have a small head
      [IMG]

    6. Went to our area meetup yesterday and scored a free dollheart wig for Bibiane. She's a natural red-head, although this one is anything but naturally colored. It makes me want to do something streetwalker or Pretty Woman -esque with her:

    7. She's lovely, lyrajean! What color resin is she? I can't tell if it's WS or NS...but whichever, she looks great as a carrot-red girl! :D

    8. Ah, you actually reminded me that I have an account with them! I created it a few years ago when I was looking to get into the BJD hobby, but Tumblr's nasty confession blogs made me waffle and lose interest. Thank you very much for the info on tools and such, I seriously appreciate it! By the way, for clothing, would SID men's clothing fit, too? Or would it be too big?

Oh, and has anyone here had issues with IH's darker clothing staining their dolls? I really like a lot of the things they have for YID boys, but I'm concerned that the darker stuff will stain.

    9. I feel your pain. Mystic Eyes makes custom sized urethane eyes. They have pre-order periods, I have contacted them to ask when the next period is. They replied around February or early March, but no news yet. Their waiting times can be for months unfortunately. But I want their eyes so bad, they look amazing. :drool

    10. I wouldn't worry about the tightness of the stringing. All of my dolls fom Iple have been strung really well and one was actually strung a little TOO tight. I had to just pull the limbs and stretch the elastic. The only Iple dolls I have that were too loose were ones that I got second hand. And once you've restrung a few times it's like second nature. But you must have the tools for it to be easy. Two forceps and a string puller. I have a large string puller and a tiny one for my LUTS HDF but it was really useful stringing the calves of my JID.

As for nYID boys able to wear SD13 clothes - nope nope nope. I have found MOST SD17 pants to fit but they're long. Freedom Teller jeans and SADOL pants are tight around the crotch. Iple boys are.... more 'endowed' than other boys. I did buys some TTYA SD17 pants that fit perfectly. Shirts don't fit. But some SID shirts and SSDF shirts fit them. But SD, SD13, SDF shoes DO fit. I was happy to find out that I can keep all my old shoes. I've started a list of my stuff from TATA Paradise that does/doesn't fit. I'll eventually make a database :sweat

As far as eye companies go... Mako Eyes are pretty good but it depends on the sculpt and I know you have a Harace and honestly... she has very very small eye wells. I have a Harace as well and I find Makos to be too big. SO I bought her (my Harace is actually a boy named Emil) some 'Frozen' Dollbakery eyes in 10mm and I really really like them. They work pretty well. BUT then she sent me these 10mm eyes with "small iris" in Moss for my Sage. (Which look terrible in a Claude, but awesome in Stella, Harace, and even Lawrence). I realized THAT is what Harace needs. Currently I have them in my Bambi.

      by animerockstar, on Flickr
(This is a crap picture because it was windy and his wig wasn't cooperating. You can check out Flickr to see the other sculpts in the Small Iris) http://www.dollbakery.com/ She is having a premade sale soon so maybe she'll have something you'll like!
I actually was on their previous pre-order in .... August? September? I can't remember... for some eyes for my Harace/Emil. I got the custom eyes... 12mm with 5mm pupils? I can't remember now but I know I got 12mm eyes with the small pupils. He's supposed to be a vampire so I wanted the pupils to be small. I saw this picture of an Arvid and I was like :o I WANT THOSE EYES!!! Anyway... I still haven't rceived them... but I think they are shipping this month? Hopefully!

    11. I'm going to second Pionitar on the admiration for Mystic Eyes. I've done a few orders and they're gorgeous in person. You can definitely ask for custom sizes (e.g., 12mm eyes with 5mm irises). The wait times are excruciating though. The reason the next pre-order period hasn't started is because we're still waiting for our order from the last one (from last August). In my experience, you should be prepared to wait 8 or 9 months. But they're totally worth it and great for a more realistic look.

    12. Thank you. I can't remember WS or NS I got her secondhand off ebay with that lovely faceup etc, for a good deal. The Bichun standing next to her is NS and yellowed.

    13. omfg... why did I not look at dollbakery before? I want these but with a colored pupil for my future grey skin lawrence: http://www.dollbakery.com/products/flame

edit: and omg... the pancakes O.o...

    14. Aw thank you! And I look forward to more photos of Lydia--I'll get around to looking at them closer one I get back on my laptop. I cutrently have my JID in pieces in my lap and her head getting ready to be painted. She is an "I" not Amy, that's what I started calling her but she has since told me she likes either Rose or Amelia so uh yeah lol

    15. lol. I wondered ^^ I actually really like the I sculpt :) Had almost thought about getting one, but then the EIDs sucked me in XD I dont know what it is about SD dolls.... but I have far more of them on my wishlist than anything. Also... when people say they are leery of the big dolls... I was actually shocked/pleasantly surprised with how light my Pamela is compared to my Douglas! She's also shorter than I was expecting.... I think that will change once I put her heel feet on though.

I plan on taking some more pics of her eventually... I have quite a few I havent posted on flickr yet also XD

    16. Can anyone tell me about the Iplehouse jeans and how well the EID/SID woman can sit in them?

    17. Gorgeous jeans, they look fabulous and are very hard for them to sit in. Not -impossible-, but very hard. If you wanted to wash them and soften them a bit, that would improve them a bit I think. That said, mine are several years old, plain dark blue, and they don't have that exact pair listed on the site anymore.

    18. Just popping in to share a tender moment between hubby and wife at their reunion. Really should have shared earlier, but never really found the time :XD:

Just want to ask other Scarlet owners... Those of you who ordered the long wig that Scarlet has on in the promos, did you find it extremely large fitting? Lottie has the blond version of the same wig and it seems more suited to an EID male than to her. It is really loose and the slightest movement risks it falling off :( Should I query it or does everyone else find theirs does the same? I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the fact that she may have been intended to be a SID rather than EID, but they both wear the same size as far as I'm aware. It's left me confused *_*

And if anyone is interested, here is a link to Lottie's box opening (finally:|) A tip to anyone with issues of the system timing you out when writing a new thread and taking a long time to type it, write it in a word document or something first and then just copy and paste. I learned that lesson the hard way as it wasn't auto saving the post as it usually does :...( Anyway enjoy :)

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php/665108-Lottie-Love-(Iplehouse-EID-Scarlet)

    19. I think it depends on the wig (unfortunately). I bought two Iple wigs 8-9 for my SID Claude that were showcased in his casual shots and one pops off at the slightest touch while the other engulfs his head. Now.... Does every wig of this particular kind swallow every Claude.... I do not know. This is why I buy Leeke. And why I'm buying an Iple wig with Vera's order. Wait, what?! Now I'm just a wig hoarder...

    20. Not a Scarlet owner, but for sure there is variation in head sizes, so wigs that fit one SID may not fit another. Solutions for an oversized wig? Silicone wig caps are often enough, but if that doesn't work, you can wrap a large rubber band around the wig cap for added thickness...or you can just use one of those rubber bracelets you get at charity events or really cheaply at someplace like Claire's. Or...you can do what I do as a last resort, which is to cut and restitch the wig to the correct size. ^^;

    21. Is that this wig: [IMG] IHW_M014 ?

If so... mine is too big on my Pamela too. Not huge... but she needs a wig cap. This one [IMG] IHW_M033 is bigger on her than the other.

I ordered a 7/8 silicon wig cap from MoC. When it arrives I'll let you know if it helps (if it fits x.x)

    22. I have silicone caps but their all to big or too small. Then again, I'm not too sure if they'll work anyway. I could put a finger in the gap if I wanted :XD:, but I'll look into your suggestions thanks.

Yes it's the IHW_014. Do please share if the cap fits, I'm having difficulty tracking down that size, so I may need to get one from MoC myself. Thanks

Kind of figured that may be it. I guess I'd rather have too big over too small any day. At least something can be done to keep it held or alter it if needs be. I must say though I do like the Leeke wigs from the two examples I've received recently. Yes you may well be a wig hoarder... But you're not alone there ;)

    23. Yeah, I had one of the 8-9(9-10) ones they have listed but it was too big and just barely helped with the wig sliding around on her head. I'm not sure when it is going to arrive since they didnt give me a tracking number, but I will let you know after I get it and am able to test it out.

    24. Speaking of wigs, has anyone tried Crobidoll's wigs on their IH dolls? Unfortunately, they seem to be the only ones who sell what I'm after both color and style-wise, and seeing how inconsistent IH's own wigs are size-wise, I'd rather not go through that frustration.

    25. I looked at theirs and they look like the exact same ones MoC sells. Here's the pic of the caps on MoC's site with writing to say the size (same price also):

edit: went with them since they are north of me and closer shipping wise... and I also wanted to buy a couple other things ^^ Either dealer is good to buy from so I would just go based off of where you are located in the U.S. (I also like that I can check shipping fast in MoC's cart vs. having to email Denver doll to find out prices)

    26. Yeeeesssss. In fact my Jude wears a Crobi wig and my Emil wears one. I THINK this is Jude in his new wig. I'm almost positive. I'll admit that the 8-9 Crobi's are a little tight with a silicon cap. But everyone in my family wears a silicon cap. Standard. And once again... it's another picture of Fem-Jude....

Sorry... I have no decent pictures of Emil....

    27. Gosh... he's so pretty as a girl :love I had thought about getting crobi wigs at some point... good to know they will fit.

    28. Oh, thank you very much! Your boys are charming, especially Emil. Do you think Crobi's 9-10 would be a better fit on an EID woman's head? Because honestly, I'd rather have wigs that are a bit loose versus ones that are tight. Loose ones are easier to deal with.

ashbet: thanks for the eye advice everyone! I know someone brings it up once a month but everyone is so gracious about repeating haha. I remember there was a big eye discussion about a month ago and I was like oh I need to remember these names! and then I stupidly wrote nothing down :doh

I Loooooove dollbakerys eyes and have been lusting after them for literally years but I feel like its so hard to catch when she has orders. Looks like I may just have to start stalking her website haha

I'll definitely have to look into masterpiece and makos! Anyone try enchanted doll for their babies needs?

lyrajean: Wow that is one gorgeous Bibaine!

I can't help too much with the wigs but I can say that I have 2 7/8 leeke wigs and 2 8/9 and none of them fit on Harace D:

    30. For any of my doll stalking needs I sign up on their newsletters. I'm signed up on the dollbakery newsletter and that's how I found out about the last preorder. This upcoming sale, I just happened to be reading artistcadelle's post about going to Resin Rose and then saw Dollbakery was going to be there and I was like wikipedia, following the blue links.
EID women are supposed to have the same size head so I would say.... no. I would still stick with 8-9. They aren't terribly tight (not like sticking a 7-8 on these dolls - I don't know how people do it) and honestly I think they look better. I just use silicon caps on all my dolls... and it can be a bit difficult to get a snug wig on, straight, in the right position, just enough forward, but not too much that they have emo bangs, on the first time. :sweat That's what I define as... "a little tight". Unlike some Leeke wigs where you can just pull one side of the wig and it just slides but it looks like they have giant Anime hair in some photos.... I really really like the look of the Crobi wigs. Especially on boys. I don't know about girls. I prefer my girls to have that big volume that Leeke gives. I don't like it so much on my boys. For a while there Emil didn't have a silicon cap because he was new and I hadn't put it on him yet and the wig went on just fine with no effort. (And slid off with no effort) Leeke silicon caps are freakin' solid. Nothing moves on those. They may be a little large but chello... razor... trim it.

    31. Hmm, so 8-9 it is, then. Thanks! Yeah, I really like the boys' styles, too. I've been scouring Google to see if anyone else owns a boy Yur, but to no avail. Surely someone out there owns one? :XD:

    32. My big Iplehouse girls usually all wear size 7-8. Monique or Leeke usually, some Iplehouse. Every stretchy 8-9 wig I have is just plain too big for my taste - I much prefer tight wigs. But it does depend some of the wig; the Iplehouse updo ones, while technically still too large couldn't be smaller, as they can't be turned inside out to get them on and must therefore be slid on straight.

    33. I have that wig in several colours and they are all considerably bigger than my other wigs from that size range and I had problems with them slipping and sliding around. I found using a 7-8 inch silicon wig cap solved the problem completely.

    34. That was what I was referencing, with the resin color and the supplier :)

Oh, awesome! And, yeah, I *loathe* confession blogs and avoid them like the plague -- no better way to destroy enjoyment of the hobby, IMO :P

SID male clothing is mostly going to be too *wide* -- if you don't mind a baggy look, it's an option. I'd stick with nYID male clothes, if you're buying from Iple.

I haven't had any staining issues, and a lot of my Iple dolls primarily wear dark colors, and may go some time between clothing changes. Jeans seem to be the biggest staining culprit, across all brands and types of dolls.

One potential thing might be to look into Volks SDGr Boy clothing -- I hadn't thought that they were equivalently-sized, but I have my SDGr Kei standing next to my Iple nYID Vamp!Chris, and they actually look like they could share clothing. The nYID body gets wider just below the nipples, and they have broader shoulders than SDGr boys, but not by so much that I think it would make the clothes unwearable.

Unfortunately, I only have one set of SDGr clothing (Kei's fullset), and I don't want to risk stretching his tight leather pants . . . but if someone else has both Volks SDGr boys/clothes as well as an Iple nYID, they might be able to provide some further feedback. I'll try to get a shot of them standing next to each other at some point.

Definitely go with the 8/9 -- I don't have any of my Iple crew in Crobi wigs, but I have quite a few of their wigs in other sizes. The 9/10 fits my Volks girls' big noggins extremely well . . . and they're often bigger than EID males in terms of head measurements.

      -- A :)

    35. I really hope it's okay if I post this photo, it's just too precious for me to not share and she's kinda blurred out so I'm going for it. If not let me know and I'll put it in link form.
So... Andy doesn't have siblings in his story but um... oh no... I think Rose might be his little sister. I mean, I just, look at them.
Dammit she wasn't even supposed to BE a redhead or have freckles but I have ZERO self control when it comes to my dolls. Okay well the redhead thing was that I found that wig in a bin of $10 wigs at Resin Rose and it fit and was cute so "hey temp wig here we go" but now she's keeping it. Well upside is now Andy isn't the awkward 5th wheel in the doll family anymore lol

    36. You have been a gigantic help! Really, thank you! :D By the way, do you have any dolls in normal skin and peach gold? I'm having a hard time finding true-to-life pictures of these skintones, and the ones I am finding make normal skin look sallow. For this particular character, I want a skintone that has a healthy glow to it, but I'm afraid to order peach gold. I worry that it might turn up 'sunburned' in person. :sweat

    37. I have four, five? (She's second hand and super yellow to the point I can't tell if she's white or normal), and I really like normal skin resin. The picture I just posted of my boy shows his color really well. He looks more pink because he's next to my really yellow girl. I don't have any PG dolls but what I did was order one of those wrist parts, the little C that goes to hide the joint, in peach gold to see it in real life.

    38. That's a great idea! Thank you!

Edit: Ouch, $25 just to ship a couple of joint covers. EMS y u do this?

    39. My couple is NS (Jude - YID Juan) and PG (Sage - SID Claude). This is outdoors and is as close to their true color as it gets:

Here is a picture of them in a little bit of "sunset light". I don't think the NS looks sickly but it does look pale. And PG doesn't look sunburned it just looks a healthy peachy to me :)

And I apologize to everyone who keeps seeing this same set of pictures. They just happen to be really good pictures for resin reference. (There is no editing in any of my pictures)

    40. I thought so, but I figured I'd elaborate a bit for the newbies so they knew what you were referencing :)

I have a normal skin guy and a peach gold girl. I can try to take some pics this weekend with some daylight and without flash.... with flash my normal skin guy is super pale and weird looking... it is a little difficult to take pics of them next to each other in low light too because my camera over corrects and likes to wash my guy out and focus solely on the girl x.x

This is a pretty good pic of him, although he's still a tiny bit washed out: https://www.flickr.com/photos/97451804@N02/16804199866/in/set-72157651313324846

these are their hands... not sure how close it is to their true real life colors, but it will give you an idea of how dark she is compared to him:
      https://www.flickr.com/photos/97451804@N02/16207724794/in/album-72157651313324846/

this is one under my fluorescent kitchen light... dont remember if I used flash or any settings on my phone, but I'd say this is closer to what he looks like in person:
      https://www.flickr.com/photos/97451804@N02/15472288094/

Here is a pic of them together... I used flash but I cant remember if I used any of the color settings or not....
      https://www.flickr.com/photos/97451804@N02/16592976047/

    41. Yeah that's why I waited until I ordered some hands and other things.

    42. Ashbet, Which color eyes is Eva wearing in this pic? I'm going to be ordering a few pairs of Makos soon and I think my Xandros/Leonard would look fabulous with this color. I have a couple of pairs of golden brown on my wishlist and I'm wondering if Eva's are one of them.

    43. Here's one discussion of eyes . . . hmm, there was another one where I did a really exhaustive listing of which eyes I have in which Iple doll. Give me a bit, and I'll see if I can dig it up :)

And here's the last fairly exhaustive going-over that I can find. And it has a link to my Asa, Kumari, wearing Enchanted Doll urethanes -- but here's another photo:

Crud, I'm glad I keep the e-mail archives -- this had been posted in a Waiting Room thread, and has since been deleted. Sorry about the links being screwy, it doesn't keep the BBCode in the plaintext e-mail.

The rules say that as long as there is one doll (or head/body, if it's a hybrid) appropriate for the discussion/photo spam thread, you can totally post the picture :)

And OMG, they're so cute!!! :D

Aw, thank you! I'm glad to help -- the DoA Iple crew is always really friendly and helpful, in my experience. I've met some lovely people here!! :D

Sadly, I can't assist with the NS/PG question, because I don't own any PG dolls (I have NS, old-RS, new-RS, and LB.) I don't find the NS to be sallow, just paler than some other companies' NS. A lot of people really like PG -- I got turned off when some of the current-resin PG dolls were shipped with very pink resin (when Iple switched suppliers), but they do seem to be more peachy now.

I prefer pale to pink, and actively avoid any resin that's too pink for my tastes, so take this with a grain of salt -- but I don't think NS is sallow (old-RS is a bit sallow, but still a nice color!) And I say this as a person whose skin has yellow undertones and who is definitely somewhere in the "sallow" color range myself! ;)

They're Mako PI-007 (all their old Zodiac colors/styles are out of stock for some reason, but you could ask if they're restocking -- I bought them in January 2014. They might be open to a special request!)

    44. I'm going to throw this in because I found it so useful. I started an eye topic awhile ago when I was looking for suggestions, and I got so many replies about familiar companies and some that I'd never even heard of before! You can click here if you're interested.

    45. I just recieved a iple chase magician boy..his ankles flop over..is this pretty common of iple eid boys?

    46. what do you mean "flop over"? If you mean, move around a lot... (i.e. shift from side to side when posing) then yes. They are a bit annoying but I've gotten used to playing with them for poses. Still not used to my EID Pamela's yet though.

if you mean, move and stay that way/they are difficult to keep from bending one direction, than either he needs his tension in his legs readjusted, or if that doesnt work, he might be too tight.

    47. I don't really know what you mean by 'flop over' either, but mine stands as firm as any of my other Iples.

    48. thanks The Raven and celga.
yes my boys feet slip to the side when I stand him up...not every time but often enough.
he is strung tigtly so its not a stringing problem. I guess thats just how my iple boy is going to be .
maybe I will find a modder to put an edge inside my boys feet to prevent this.
      thanks again...love the iple boys

    49. EID ankles are problematic for me, too, especially if the doll is strung too loosely. I've found two things helpful, which are not difficult to do:

Smear a very thin layer of hot glue into the socket of the foot part. It acts to increase friction and the foot slips out of place less often.

      Or--

Put them in well-fitting short boots. The boots help hold the foot and ankle in place as it should be. I have the most trouble with my guys when I try to pose them barefoot.

    50. you dont need to mod him. Just put a bit of hot glue inside the edge of his ankle joint (thin layer). That will give it some grip ^^ I am thinking about doing this myself... he is pretty steady most of the time, but I've had a couple scary moments.

      edit:
got logged out and Jill beat me to it.... I also have my guy in boots too ^^ which helps a ton!

    51. Oo, I second and third that! Sueding and/or boots have fixed almost every balancing issue I've had with any sort of doll in the past. ^^

Chase is a gorgeous sculpt, btw! I can see why you love him, floobly ankles and all. :D

    52. Thanks!! I was over there looking yesterday and the homepage says they're not taking orders from the 12th(IIRC) through the 28th of this month so they can catch up on their current backlog, so I'll be looking through colors and whittling down my list between now and then so I can place the order as soon as the start accepting more orders.

    53. Yeah...I find that they wobble a bit when not in shoes so I tend to put them in boots. I think it's because the doll is so heavy that their ankle joints just can't deal with the stress?

    54. My Zera is home, had her on a layaway since December and used that $40 discount coupon for a sweet total I could manage. Would have painted her today, but I had too many people at the house today. Will take a quick pic of her tomorrow in her outfit from Iplehouse and wig from Leekeworld. Looks like she has some extra markings on her from Iplehouse in case anyone tries to copy her. I did get a wonderful calendar which is too nice to throw away once this year is up.

    55. Ah, thank you very much! I feel much better about wanting to order peach gold now. Now, if only $900 would magically appear in my wallet, I'd be good to go. -sob- Iplehouse, y u no offer layaway on Doll Choice orders? Oh, and I was wondering if anyone has had luck with Freedom Teller's clothes fitting?

    56. Freedom Teller only makes clothes for EID and SID. Not sure what sizes for girls but u can be assured they will fit.

    57. EID & SID for girls too... I asked if they could do nYID Cosset they said no :(

    58. Thanks Ashbet! Andy is enjoying having someone else to play with, and Rosalie is totally spoiled by her new big brother.
I think these two will be going with me to another expo in a few months in costumes. I'm thinking of dressing Andy in his Spider Man costume I made and then having Rosalie be Mary Jane Watson. I'm a big comic nerd ^^

    59. Well, Vera's other outfit pics are up, though TBH all of them are a little bit... uninteresting. I feel like they've done more variants with their other dolls.

However, you can definitely see more of the Emma Watson resemblance with the red mohair wig. ;) My boyfriend and I will be getting some money in the tax returns, but sadly I don't think I'll be able to get her in this order period. Some other purchases need to be made first (curses, being an adult and stuff). We'll see.... maybe someone in my family is going to be nice enough to offer a graduation gift or something.
