Did you go with an Iple face up?

 

No ... I like the A faceup (the darker one), but I usually go for blank and paint them myself. I handle my dolls a lot and I feel more comfortable knowing I can fix or re-do a faceup if anything were to happen to it

Sadly my Rachel's head is currently missing. ...went to Russia for a face up over 4 weeks ago, BUT seems to have vanished even before getting out of the United Kingdom.

 

Oh my gosh, @StrontiumDog, I hope it was insured? Even if it were, though, how would you get a new one? Ugh, I sure hope it shows up!!!

 

That's horrible situation . Fingers crossed it was only caused by summer traffic and they find it in the end. I assume when the package leaves the country, they should scan the code (I am sure that packages going in EU are scanned all, but I am not sure about those leaving EU ).

 

Oh no @StrontiumDog, that sounds like the ultimate nightmare. I hope the head turns up, all fingers crossed for you!

 

Ugh, some of the best faceup artists are in Russia or Poland/Ukraine! But I am too afraid to send my stuff there

 

@Jany Congratulations, and I know you have been wanting and thinking of this girl for a long time so Im excited to see your vision of her complete

@StrontiumDog I hope with all that is good that she turns up and that it was a missed scan. Did you try 17 track?
I really really think its the mail being late, because when I order from the UK sometimes it arrives within 2 weeks, and sometimes 5-6 weeks AT MOST but it always arrives

I would not lose hope yet, and if there is problem, you can go to the post office and have them place a track on it, which sometimes helps it move along if its stuck somewhere

 

@Jany - Do you have a character and name for your Rachel?


@IngieBee - yes it's insured, so if it comes to I'll claim, but as you say, it's replacing an Iple head that could be the problem. Never had this happen with anything going to or from Russia. Infact in over 15 years in this hobby there has been only 2 parcels go missing completely.

@boudica ...yes, perhaps it's just busy, but, I would expect to see a scan at the International Hub just before it leaves the UK and that hasn't happened.

@GreenTeaSlug - I have not lost hope...yet...and have been chasing it for a while. *crosses more fingers*

@StrontiumDog yes - unless she has other plans I think her name is Heather, and she's definitely going to be part of my main story (minor character though, kind of an NPC if you're familiar with RPG terminology). That much I have, but I've learned to wait for a doll to arrive before making any definite plans for details, I've had too many ideas thrown out the window once I had the doll in my hands. They do have a mind of their own sometimes.

 

You are soooooo right about plans and BJDs...rough ideas and vague guide lines help, but sometimes they do get their own ideas and there is no forcing something else on to them.
Heather is a lovely name. Looking forward to seeing if your ideas work out.

 

Fingers crossed for your Rachel's head. I sure hope she turns up. I have had very few packages ever go missing, even international. One pkg going to the UK, arrived/scanned and then left going on to Austria before it turned round, came back to the US then back off again for the UK. All in all it was 3 months, but finally got delivered.

I did have one domestic package go missing to a face-up artist, BID head. Other collectors I knew, had used the artist. I am not 100% convinced it was the postal services fault. They showed it delivered, she claimed it never got there....soon after that the artist seemed to drop out of sight. I talked to Iplehouse about the problem, but because the the postal service would not confirm a lost package I could never get Iplehouse to sell me a replacement head.

There were a few times I could not track my package, like, the tracking website was showing that it stuck in one place for a very long time and did not update the current place of the package, but then the package arrived safely after that.

 

@LaurieESW and @taykung ...thanks for the good luck wishes. Yeah, it's the replacement head thing that's my biggest worry.

Will be having a stern word with the courier this morning to get an update.

 

Oh no!!!!!! I’m sorry she’s gone missing . I also hope it’s just that some scans have gotten missed or is delayed and she arrives at her destination soon. Keep us posted.

Well, a possible indication of the state of things is the fact that one of my INCOMING parcels had been sat at the international hub and customs for 10 days...
No one has gotten back to me about my OUT GOING missing parcel, despite assurances I would hear something today.

OK, leaving this mess aside for a few days and gonna have some positive happy time playing with the BJds that are here...
and some Lego

 

Fingers crossed for you. Hopefully it is just a delay or backlog and both packages will be on their way really soon. Enjoy your play time. That is a good plan to keep yourself distracted.

Enjoying reading about Iples. I had a questions that maybe someone could answer at some time. I wanted to know if the newer SID female bodies are still able to fit an older 2013 EID head? I have read on there that the new SID body's neck is a bit smaller.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Unless someone else beats me to it, I can put an EID head on my Rachel's body once she arrives (paying her off this week once the paycheck comes in). But knowing customs she'll be a while.
I guess it wouldl work, though. nYID, SID and EID girl heads and bodies are interchangeable, and if the old SID sculpts can go on the new SID body, so should the others.

@RacerGT I agree with Jany, theoretically it should fit the neck ok... my concern would be the shoulder width. According to Iplehouse’s dimensions the new SID body has narrower shoulders than the nYID.

@Jany I haven’t seen any yet. I would definitely like to see how the EID would look on the new SID body

 

Thank you for your kind messages on here. I think SID EID can go on SID bodies... however, I did not know that YID heads could go on a SID body too? So EID, SID and YID heads can be interchangeable on EID, SID and YID bodies.

You’re very welcome yes, Iplehouse makes the EID, SID and YID women interchangeable... it’s very handy. I have my EID Carina head on the older SID body

 

@RacerGT - if this helps at all, here is an HID Aileen head on the new SID body ( don't own Aileen anymore )
The HID head was very similar in size to my SID Rachel's, but I get the idea that both heads are a just the tiniest bit smaller than average for both size ranges. There was a slight difference in the neck hole in the bottom of the heads, Aileen being bigger, but I feel the HID head worked on the new SID body...hope that makes sense.

A WORD OF CAUTION!!! If anyone is doing a transaction with paypal for an Isis doll(buying/selling/etc.) Do NOT put the word 'Isis' in the comments. They will flag the transaction and do an investigation!!!

I'm sure this has potentially been touched on before, but does anyone know why Iplehouse has been getting rid of so many pages of clothing they used to offer for their SD-sized dolls?

 

@StrangelyAngelic Not really. They stated that they would stop offering clothing, except for what they have for releases (exactly what it means, I am not sure) However, SartoriaJ used to do most of their clothes and offers them up for sale on Etsy now???

 

In a nutshell... cut backs... they just do not have the staff and means anymore to do it. They have downsized by i think they said half?... it's info that is out there somewhere and that the recast issue is 'part of it' meanig if we buy and support
them they can do more maybe.

LMAO oh it HAS happened ... here lol... two ppl did a spit for the Isis full set and on a payment send for "shipping cost for Isis dress" I believe was the wording... they got nailed and had to prove it was for a doll dress and not less than 20$ going to fund terror... so yes ..... do NOT use red flag words .... period. lol we all had a good laugh at the audacity of that one...

 

SatorialJ was part of Iple staff and like Freedom Teller went solo. I think they do what is called 'piece work' in fashion industry? like being commissioned for a set amount of something?

 

lol yeah, I remember that coming up in the Waiting Room. Pretty much the silliest thing ever. Can't have been fun for anyone involved, but from the outside ... well.

Also, guess who just paid off Rachel? And honestly I can't wait to get my hands on the new SID body, after posing my Model SID guy with one of my EID girls I realized just how "brick-like" she feels compared to him ...

Beautiful photo! I just got back into the hobby after being gone for so many years and the first thing I did was fall in love with Bichun haha. Ended up hunting him down and was able to get him second hand with his Korean outfit. I am very impatiently waiting for him to come home so I can take so many photos. So many plans. I feel bad though because Asa has been on my wishlist a lot longer and I still haven't gotten her.

@IngieBee Every picture I see of him in all the different mods and faceups I see on him I love him. I was heartbroken when I missed him twice and through the roof when I finally got him so that is how I know he is the one that needed to come home haha. You should totally get him

 

I'm trying to force myself to wait until next year. I've gone overboard on getting dolls this year, and planned nothing, all impulsive, it's been horrible of me. I need to deal with what I have, find their place in the world then move on

That dress looks like a medieval shift linen dress, but comfortable and classy, simple but elegant! And her eyes glow in it! Absolutely beautiful! @IngieBee Thank you Glad she was inspiring. Her eyes look almost eerie, it's not her dress (and not her color), but I love it on her and how it makes her eyes glow. It's a very simple musslin low waist dress

Yesterday I went to DollPaCa and also brought my boy with me to try some clothes. I found that Nine9Style SD17 shirts fit good on him, maybe a little bit loose but I like that Also, today I just tightened his elastic a bit and he can stand much better and does not fall backward so easily like before. It was my first time restringing a bjd. I was afraid I would break his resin but everything went well, and my hands hurt a little bit
