Aw thank you! I also moved Lacie's birthmark, the dang thing kept getting scraped with it being so close to her shoulder joint so it's on her collar bone now, and repainted Rosalie. But didn't photograph Lacie and Rosalie doesn't belong in this thread lol

I'm busy with a faceup that doesn't belong here too Expect an update on dA tonight ... hopefully.

 

The names grommet and eyelet are pretty interchangeable aroun here as they are basically the same thing. Quite a lot more shops here call them eyelets here so that's what I tend to look for. They never seem to have the smaller ones in stock when I'm looking for them though -_- Which reminds me, I'll need some for a corset soon.

(Oh and the tip of a shoe lace is called an aglet )

 

Well since you asked, here's the only one I took and it was a joke for a friend of mine and I can't look at it and not laugh. Pretty dang close to novel!Lacie's actual facial expression, damn I love open mouthed dolls.

I took this photo before taking the scissors to her wig, so now she has a lot more front layers, something that's bugged me. Her novel form has lots of layers in the front.

As Forever mentioned, the word you are thinking of is aglet. Also spelled aiglet, from the French aiguillette, or "little needle". The eyelet is the hole, the aglet is the metal or plastic tip that you thread through the hole when lacing shoes or a corset.

As for a source of small grommets/eyelets, try http://dollmakersjourney.com/supplies.html. They carry cloth doll making supplies. The grommets are halfway down the page of general supplies. A package of 50 costs $3. This site also has various kinds of hair for anyone who makes doll wigs. They also have hemostats in sizes from 3.5" to 12".

Question for anyone with YID Oscar... What size wig would you say suits him best? (don't want a repeat of the really loose fitting one i got for scarlet lol) And anyone know where I can find nice pale blond with loose curls in both short and long lengths that comes in multiple sizes? As I'm getting them for Eve and he's a bit of a cross dresser, they need to be able to make him look feminine and I'll need the same styles for his younger counterparts too hense the different sizes. I hear monique wigs are good but where's the best place to find those?

 

I'm just chiming in on the monique wig part; I get mine from directly Monique or ebay, just depends. The two I've bought from ebay were both sold out on Monique. You can also buy them through facets, but generally Monique has a larger selection of styles/colors. (and while I don't have an Oscar, for nYID boys I'd suggest 7/8 or 8/9 for Monique wigs. 7/8 if you want a shorter look and 8/9 if you want longer or more shaggy. I can try some of mine on Andy if you like, even though he's a different sculpt.)

Speaking of him, did anyone see the KID Millie that was for auction? I wanted him SO BAD but doll funds are lacking and Zander IS next (I'll be dammed he is)
But the reason I'm bringing this up is

he'd make the perfect baby Josh and I was thinking this sculpt would work. But DANG, he looks just like him!! (and of course I have a baby Lacie picked too )

Airike, yes, he has! I didn't finish his faceup yet and I don't have his wig, so I only have a WIP pic. Sven looks like a teenage boy next to him! If I manage to make the headswap work, he'll soon be on topic here ...

on the subject of which: In case anyone was wondering, Iple guy heads almost fit on Granado bodies (they can be made to fit with a neck donut), but Granado heads on Iple bodies are more of a challenge:

Oh yeah, I wouldn't get him without Lacie, couldn't do it in their big forms won't with the small. And baby Lacie will be a NS Lonnie with Bliss's faceup

Does anyone has a SID female and a YID male? I would really like to see if the SID female head would look good on the YID male body.
Hope somebody could help me have a visual understanding of the proportions.

 

I have both of those and have taken pictures with their heads swapped. I'll post them when I get home a little later. I think the SID female is okay on the boy body, but it could also be that my girl has a VERY feminine faceup lol

 

Hello everyone!

Happy Saturday!

I have a new doll! He's an EID Special Forces Rex, and I named him Jack.



His clothes even fit him~! Although, I don't think I want to keep that wig. I'll need to get him another one...maybe a darker one, even.

There's only one small problem; he refuses to sit down. Is this a typical problem with Iple EIDs?

 

Is he on the old or new body? I'm assuming new? make sure the little hip things are properly positioned. He might also need his tension in his legs adjusted. Just pull one out at a time with the legs straight and let them go back in. Then pull up on the S-hook and elastic in his head. Should hopefully fix the problem. My guy sits like a rock now as long as his leg things are positioned correctly and he's not sitting on something awkward. I also hot glue sueded him and that made him a lot more sturdy. For the most part, the new body is pretty good. Not the greatest of posers, but hot glue sueding the arms helped.

It depends on the head sculpt entirely. I have my SID Harace on an nYID boy body and I think it looks great. You can also look at the Iple BJD section on dolls and some of the SIDW sculpts they will put on boy bodies (and vice versa). That's how I found out that Harace would make such a great guy!

LOL now you want to get a Millie for your baby Edan?? I've heard the KID heads work, but I think it's too small for my taste and I want to get something smaller than a JID, plus the JID bodies aren't my favorite, even though I own one lol
I'm mostly motivated for kid versions of Lacie and Josh because we see them as kids in the books but ALSO, Josh weighs four and a half freaking pounds on his own and Lacie is 3. I want to take them places but for two, that's too much doll.

And thanks for linking it, still, here's a picture of boy!Ember I took forever ago of her on Andy's body with Alex's wig. Lol she still looks like a girl, Em could never pull off being a boy.

Hahaha yeah my little Rosalie wants an Edwin someday, I don't know if it will happen or not, but she can dream and big brother Andy is thanking me (and kinda mad I'm not getting any of his friends from his story, sorry bud, maybe Julie can come home someday too)

I just more mean when I travel. I go to Oregon every year and it's just my mom and I, in one car, with two big dogs and all our luggage, so ti makes it hard to take more than one SD since they go in their boxes; Rosalie rides in my travel bag since it's open and she's small, so it'd be nice to only have little ones who travel in the bag. But, baby!Lacie and baby!Josh are at the end of my list right now, I've got anOTHER SID boy who's next and I've begun saving for with my new job (awww yiss!). I'm going to end up with four SID boys and two EID men if I can shell my list and god why, why did I do this. Who let me get into this hobby.
Hey, at least I have some level of self control and can keep it to one book LOL

Oh yay congrats!! I can't wait to see her!! I just ordered some eyelashes for Rosalie so if you can't find yours I can tell you were to get really nice ones that match Iple's look.
Also, 1000 posts, don't we close this one down and make a new thread? I have no experience with this so I won't do it but I'm just pointing it out.
