Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 14

May 28, 2024

    1. @Quirked - I love seeing the older sculpts! Your Evan is adorable and it's nice to see him get an updating. I also love Akando (my first Iplehouse doll) and still one of my favorites. <3

I have an Evan head...he could use some new updating too. But till then, here's a photo of him to keep the love of older Iple sculpts alive.:daisy

    2. Hey, new here - this year I finally got my first ever Iplehouse doll! He is to date the most expensive doll I’ve ever bought and he’s totally worth it. Sorry for the crappy night time photo! He’s EID Rex, faceup type B, in peach gold. His name is Dean :kitty1

For some reason he feels a bit loose to me (but to be fair, I do prefer my dolls tightly strung). And omg his head cap, it keeps popping off at the smallest nudge lol. What do you guys reccomend for keeping his noggin on? Any more and his brain’s going to fall out.

I also have some shoes in the mail for him, god damn his feet are massive!

    3. Congratulations on your Rex. He is very handsome! Great face up!! I'm sure you will enjoy him very much :)

    4. @sunhellion - Congratulations on your handsome Rex! He is a great sculpt. <3

    5. @Sianserais - Akando is such a great sculpt! I'm hoping to work on mine soon. The repair needed is to file out the elastic channel in one of his thighs. It looks like when he was originally assembled at Iplehouse, they started to drill in the wrong place and then corrected. It created this little overhang area that the elastic gets stuck into, and then his leg doesn't work right, lol. Just working up the courage to take a file to the resin and contain and dispose of the resulting mess. :sweat I'll definitely properly share him once he's back together! Though I do have a picture of his head on my Evan's body. It's a bad resin match, since my Akando is in Light Brown and my Evan is Real Skin.

@luluna - Thank you! Love your Evan, and that wig that's on him! :D

    6. Thank you! The face-up on the promo was what made me “have” to have him :D I am very weak to a well-done beard…

      Thank you so much!!

Your Evan is so beautiful, I adore the long wig you put on him! I definitely need a Real skin Iplehouse one day. And thank you :dance

    9. @Quirked - Thanks! Your Akando is lovely...so handsome! Love his big soulful eyes. Akando was my first Iple love and what got me into bjds again.:3nodding:

@Nikki'sNewObsession - Solene is stunning! Who did her wonderful faceup?

While I'm here...I'll share one of my favorite dolls...my RS Akando...Vyktor. :XD: His faceup was painted by SDink. This photo has wonky lighting...but it makes him look so real to me.<3

    10. Thank you. I love the style she's taken on.

Thank you, she's painted by Angel Toast Aesthetics. I've decided to get Soo and planning to have AT paint her too.

      • x 4
    11. Hey my Soo is painted by AT too!!

    12. Hello again

I recently got my first (albeit snall) SD girl in well over a decade, and was surprised to find that I didn’t think she was ‘too big’ at all, like I feared. The realization opened up my eyes to the possibility of maybe ordering one of my highly-sought-after-but-out-of-reach grail dolls - an Iplehouse SID Mari.

that said, I was hoping someone in here might help shed some light on a few things:
      1) compared to other SD’s in the same size range, would you say Iplehouse SID (on the newer body) are good posers?
      2) Do they ‘feel’ heavy and clunky (I used to own a Supia Rosy and a Feeple65Dia - Rosy posed really well and my Dia felt like a floppy sack of bricks)
      3) I like the aesthetic of the new body type the most, but which would you say is better at handling? The new or the original?
      4) Do they fit normal SD clothes/shoes? And which wig and eye size fit them the best?

any other insight you might have would also be appreciated ❤️

      • x 1
    13. @Fractal - The ankles on the newer SID body are much nicer. It is probably a better poser as well...but I'm not very good at making challenging poses. There are some aesthetics I still love about the older body. The newer body has a longer neck...and not as nice knees.
Here is a shot on the left is a Stella on the newer SID body and on the right a Stella on an older SID body (I think). The nSID is not this much taller...I can't remember., why she is here...maybe the Stella on the right is on a nYID? LOL

    14. When you say the new body has ‘not as nice knees’, do you mean aesthetically or functionally? Because I quite like the way the look (I prefer them over the old body), but I’m worried about her ability to pose and hold poses

    15. My nSID Soo was my very first doll, so I'm sentimental for her, I think I can confidently answer these.
      1) I'll be completely honest and say no. The body is pretty, but posing is not a strong suit. I did improve it a little by using thinner elastic, but that is a body where I only expect it to sit and look nice. Also I find my mobility thigh pretty much useless, just stick with the standard thigh.
      2) heavy, not especially for me, but then again about the only dolls I feel are heavy are my 75cm boys. Clunky, kind of? I think I would say not super responsive I guess.
      3) Haven't handled the original, but I do know they have the resin hooks in the feet which isn't really my fave idea since it means the feet have to be static basically.
      4) They absolutely will not fit standard SD clothes, not even SD16. SartoriaJ clothes fit my girl just fine, and I got a secondhand outfit that happens to fit her. If you want a wider selection of clothes, go with their small bust. It still looks nice in clothes :) Wig wise, no I really should've done a smaller SD wig on my Soo. I was naive and assumed iplehouse's standard 8-9 would fit. It does fit looser than I'd like, but with her bonnet, no one can really tell. Also eyes aren't going to be standard 14mm, I believe my Soo has 12mm eyes.
Sorry about the blathering, but I wanted to answer all of your questions :) This does remind me I should prolly update her profile pic and my own...
If you have more questions I'm also happy to answer over dm too!

    16. I'm still alive, but still only a hobby lurker cos not exactly in the best place to do hobbying at the moment. :P

But here's Okuni, nSID Mari, posing with a mixed-media artwork I made of her two companions, Guórén and Adhara. She's probably the best-posing Iplehouse in the crew right now.

    17. @Fractal - Aesthetically. :) I couldn't find a photo...but where the knee doesn't fit together to give a full line when straight. (I'm not explaining it well. LOL :XD:)

      Edited to add:
I found an image of the nSID knees...

I find her posing to be good but then I have mostly Iplehouse, one SartoriaJ, Granado, Soom and Fairyland in comparison. I'd love to know which other dolls people feel pose better (I'm considering an Impldoll) ;)

I sew so I can't comment on dressing them. They are the slimmest and smallest out of my 1/3 scale girls. Their feet are Iplehouse wider feet of course. Overall though I love Iplehouse :) I'm really a fan of their largest HID girls.

      • x 5
    19. Impldoll for me are way way better than iplehouse, basically most of my collection are better to me :sweatSo basically Asleep Eidolon, Xagadoll, Loongsoul, DF-H, Coral Reef, Telesthesia Doll, even Evantasy.

      • x 1
    20. This has all been really helpful, thank you so much ❤️

in terms of their ability to pose - so long as they have a better range and control than Fairyland, I’m fine with it I think. Out of my current collection, my Minifees are the worst at posing, but they’re stable and can stand on their own/hold poses well enough.

my biggest concern now is finding affordable clothes for her :c based on measurements, am I right in assuming the SID girls will fit stretchy Feeple65 clothes? Are there other brands and bodies that I can compare them to from stores like Dollmore/similar? I would really prefer to not have to fork out 150-200 just to get her a single outfit with shoes

      • x 1
    21. That truly is the issue tbh. I only dress mine in a couple outfits unless they're a special exception, so I'm more willing to fork out the big bucks. I think BIA on legenddoll's website does SID sized clothes, and if you get a taobao proxy it's not too much. I don't really think Dollmore has anything unfortunately either.

    22. Gorgeous dress @LyanneNZ !!!! Superb fit - what a great job you did!!!

      • x 1
    23. Thanks very much Robyn! It took two attempts on the bodice. I had to reshape the top part above the bust to get it to sit closer. I've been wanting to work out a pattern for the HID ladies for a while. Now to make one for the smaller bust :)

      • x 2
    24. @LyanneNZ - Totally gorgeous dress and print! Your Elle is stunning in it. :)

      • x 1
    25. I’m very impressed @LyanneNZ that it only took two fittings to get that amazing fit!
I doubt very much that most folks realize how difficult it is to create such a lovely
fitted dress. And the larger busts make it a lot more touchy! GREAT job!!!!

    26. I am back with even more questions, because I just discovered Iplehouse’s Doll Choice system (better late than never I suppose)

is there anyone here who has an EID girl head on an SID body? I’d love to get an EID Doria on the New SID body because she’s my absolute favorite sculpt next to Mari since they use the same wig size, and the new SID body is slightly taller than the original, so y’all think it would be fine?

    27. I think it should look totally fine! Here’s a pic of my EID carina on a SID body

    28. she is so sophisticated! you do such lovely work ;)

      • x 1
    29. here is my EID Aaliyah on old SID large bust Yui tattoo body.
Also, take in consideration that the NEW SID body is thinner all over, and some of the EID sculpts my look too large on it unless you have a wide shoulder dress/blouse on them.
Here is my elf Vera (she is considered YID size) on the NEW SID small bust body wearing a SJ dress. I wanted her on the "thinner" SID body because it just looks more to size for her YID elf eared head. I had her on a reg SID but I wasn't happy.

    31. Thank you so much for the amazing photos ❤️
I’m not terribly worried about the EID head on the SID body after seeing your photos, even though it’s slimmer. I plan on giving her a kinda tactical/streetwear style with a bomber jacket and such

    33. @Fractal Have fun with the Doll Choice system :) I'm sure lots of heads would be interchangeable with the SID body. I just have Kali, Vera and Wendy on the new SID body and I have a Lahela on the older version.

Closer shot of my HID Elle while I'm here... :)

    34. Such lovely dolls posted since the last time I was in here! :D

A word on Doll Choice and EID heads on smaller bodies -- I think the EID woman heads work just fine on the SID and even the nYID bodies. I have an EID Luna head on the nYID girl body, and she's actually one of my favorites of my dolls. :) She's pictured in the front here:

    36. She's lovely and what a great setting too!

    37. Which eye size would you say fit the SID/EID girl the best? Google says 12 or 14mm eyes, but that's the same as most of my MSD dolls. My only other SD doll uses 14/6 eyes. Personally I prefer larger eyeballs with smaller irises, but I can't remember if the Iplehouse dolls have proper eye wells in their heads, or if it's just a smoothed out hole through to the outside (meaning that if the eye is too big, it won't fit)

    38. They have proper eye wells, and depending on the sculpture will be sized for 12 or 14mm eyes. I keep a 5mm iris in my iplehouse dolls, but 6mm irises look alright too to a lot of people.

      • x 1
    39. @Fractal I have Doria and Kali in 14/5.

    43. I'm loving all the nice doll photos in this thread! :love

Also, I'm happy to announce Leon on model EID will be my first male doll and Iplehouse!

I have high expectations for a character I want to interpret -- Dream of the Endless, whose combined chiseled face and ethereal presentation is still rather elusive to me, but I was floored by how strikingly similar Leon's nose is to the character's TV actor. Thus, I found my sculpt. It also greatly helps that I've seen many amazing Leon owner photos :3nodding:

    51. I'm (im)patiently and excitedly waiting for my soo (yid) in dark brown to ship, and I was wondering if anyone has a photo of dark brown? I'd greatly appreciate it. I've seen lots of brown in this thread as well as part13, but they are not labeled.
I ordered at the start of the event in November, so I'm hoping she will be home soon, to join her bestie and beau.

My girls also have pets (a Border Aussie and a black Turkish Angora), something for me to consider further down the road :sweat

    53. I only have dark brown in FID size and I looked to see if I had photos of both together and I don't but to be honest it would be hard to distinguish them side by side. My FID Isis is the darker brown and often in photos she still looks quite light as can my light brown girls. Rest assured it's a nice colour :) I hope your girl arrives soon!
