Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 13

    2. My split fix (nSID body without thigh joints) ordered, and big kitty ordered! Weirdly, Iplehouse insisted on separate orders. I did a combined pre-order (budgeting), and the difference was, like, $7? *shrug* must be a software thing for them (using their website with their accounting software).
In the interim, head swapping! I think Doria is going on the nSID body once it arrives, but I'm trying Mari out on different bodies.

      • x 4
    3. @MaleficentMrsofEvil I do *love* my Mari in the nSID body - perhaps you might
have her steal the new nSID body?? I think Doria would look lovely on that body too.

I wonder if the reason for the insisting on separate orders was that Iplehouse’s
largest box cannot hold both the (very) large kitty and a doll??? Otherwise, it
seems strange to ask you to do them separately.

      • x 1
    4. By large kitty, do you mean the Puma? If so I would guess it is a very diffeent box and I believe there is an EMS weight limit.

      • x 2
    5. Yes, @nancy_schroeder_ca I believe she was ordering the gorgeous Puma.
And what you suggest makes very good sense! I’d thought it might be
the size, but the weight limit makes more sense.

    6. My Iplehouse nSID rs Mari just changed into a blond! I tried a
Monique Gold Paris wig - and now I'm even more taken with her!!
      Mari's such a marvelous sculpt.

She wears Gumdrops urethane eyes, Flowergirl hand dyed silk robes,
Magalie Dawson organza nightgown, and a gold plated necklace I made.
Default paint by Iplehouse. Gorgeous manicure by @Jay

    7. That's so cool and she's so pretty. Also agree that the blonde look amazing on her :3nodding:As someone who really love Chinese Hanfu, I really like that nightgown.

And one more image with some hairpins in to tame Manu's hair a bit XD Andrei's niece Anja joined the image too :chibi

And here's my HID Falcon finally home :D His name is Manu. These 2 are my OCs in The Sims 4, and married with 2 young kids. In the Iplehouse world their kids would be BID and KID size. Their future kids will be a BID Bordy, and KID Esi, both girls.

They live in a highly advanced and futuristic world so both their kids are biologically their although they are a same sex couple. In their world the possibilities are far beyond what we got, and I envy that. In their world the people have long moved past any anti-LGBT+ views. Their world don't have what we call a marriage, so there are no wedding rings to show that they are what we we call married. The people of their world got something else equivalent to a marriage but it is called something else that I have not figured out what to call. And instead of wedding rings there is couple bracelets which I need to get made for them.

Their journey started as characters in The Sims 4 somewhere in 2019 if I remember it correctly. Originally I were meant to have an EID Taregan but he got discontinued. I were so sad I missed my chance at ordering Taregan. But now I could not be happier it took so long to get here, because I love my HID Falcon far more than I would Taregan at this point <3

I got a few things that I need to do. Neither of the boys have shoes or much clothes at all. And I would like to get dreadlocks for Manu, he currently have this hard to style afro. And then Andrei need his eyebrows color adjusted a bit so that it fit his ginger hair more.

    10. Well, in good news, apparently Iplehouse is going to be offering a 30 percent off sale for Doll Choice in March.
Feels a little like being spat in the face, seeing as how I told them in advance I was ordering a doll via DC, but... sigh. My fault for not waiting. Live and learn, I suppose. (Spending $2K - ouch. Realizing if I'd waited a week, I could have saved at least $300 - priceless?)

I did indeed order a puma! And the split-fix doll! The puma is still open, which surprises me, but I think someone else ordered one too? So maybe they're hoping for more orders. You can do layaway with the puma, by the way.

    11. As much as I'd love to get a puma, I have no uses for one unless I dyed it, and that is too much work for a second big cat. I own my Panther I will be good with just that. *talks self out of another cat*

    12. Where did you see this out of curiosity? I checked dc prices today, and they’re still normal! I was hoping to score a HID girl if there’s that much of a sale!

      • x 1
    13. Buddy of mine saw a promo for it. Maybe check again in 12 hours? They should be open then.

    14. Sounds good!! I’ll check back then and let you know what I find!

      • x 1
    15. The 30 % for item seems to be for clothes. You click on it and that's where it takes you. I don't think I've seen Iplehouse give 30% off dolls in Doll choice. But I could be mistaken.Tho they do sell them at regular price at times

      • x 1
    16. Good catch!! I am mildly disappointed I won’t be grabbing a HID girl this time, but I’ve never heard of 30% off DC before, so I guess it was a stretch!

      • x 2
    17. Just checked Iplehouse's website again - I think buddy was confused. I suspect that the SID add-a-head sale might be coming back though? The SID limited dolls are all listed as "Coming soon."
      Sorry, everyone!

    18. I have a question. I know Iplehouse says 9-10 wigs for HID men, but would it be possible to to make a 10-11 size wig work with a bit of padding on the headcap?

The doll I'm going to order a wig for is my Ebony Skin HID Falcon. He needs dreadlocks but it have not been easy to find.

Currently I'm speaking to someone on Etsy who make doll wigs for various dolls including American Girl dolls. Their biggest size is 8-9 and 10-11. But the wig I want they only got in the 10-11 size. It is a pre-prder, and ordering the 10-11 dreadlocks preorder will be a lot cheaper than having the exact same wig custom made in 8-9 size.

The seller said that a custom order would be pricy, but if that is what I have to do, I will. But first I want to hear here, if a 10-11 wig can work on a HID Man?

      • x 1
    19. For a wig that is too large for a head, I prefer to sew a tuck or two at the back of
the wig @manabusama . I’ve done this several times over the years. I don’t
know that I’d be happy with padding a head to be larger. those AmGirl heads
      are pretty big… Iple HID heads 23.5cm = 9.25”

Also, many wig caps are stretch-able to a larger size - if this person uses very
stretchy caps - the 8/9 may fit the larger head too?
If the etsy person is handmaking the wig - it would seem very simple for them
to sew the cap smaller before adding the dreads?

      • x 1
    20. You mean sewing on the inside of the wig at the back? I have never touched a needle in my life, so I hope it is not to hard to sew a bit :sweat Maybe there's some videos on YouTube to guide me.

I think it would be safer to go with the 10-11 wig and do as you suggested, as going for a too small wig would be worse. At least a bit larger wig can be fixed. I'm a little bit worried about appearing as a difficult customer and asking too much. So I think I'll just contact them and say I take the chance on the 10-11.

      • x 1
    21. I'm certain there are lots of tutorials for basic handsewing on YouTube! It's also a nice skill to have if you need/want to mend a piece of clothing. ^^

I've sewn tucks into wigs that are too large to get them to fit as well. Wig caps are usually made up of 3 pieces -- 2 side pieces and a center piece. I usually just flip the wig inside out and pinch the wig at each seam and do a straight stitch with a needle and thread starting from the bottom of the wig and work my way to the crown. If I end up not liking it, or I either took in too much or too little, I can just snip the thread and pull it out. I actually don't put too much thought into to doing the stitches neatly or even, since it's on the inside of the wig and won't be seen. :)

      ~*~

With that said, my Vanessa arrived back home today from the faceup artist. I just wanted to share a photo of her like she's my firstborn child because I am floored by this doll right now. :fangirl:

    22. Oh she's lovely @Quirked. I love that goth/punk girl style she has, her lip color is just fantastic!

      • x 2
    23. Thanks for the reply :) I actually did not find much on resizing BJD wigs on YouTube, I found 2 different videos. And the rest were how to resize human wigs. But I'm sure it won't be too hard. One of the videos at least gave me an idea of how I could do it. And like you said it is definitely a skill that is worth having.

Your girl look really cool :) Do you style the hair in place a lot before taking images?

I feel like my images get so untidy. Strands of hair going everywhere :sweat The doll always look fine before I take the image, but then there are strands of hair showing up in the image where they shouldn't XD Could be my camera because I use an old phone camera and iPad camera. The flash always make the image look worse!

      • x 1
    24. @Tippetarius - Thank you! I adore how her lips came out, the artist did a fantastic job! I think this doll might have the biggest inspo board I've made on Pinterest, and has more items that inspire me more than the boards for some of my other dolls. I've really got the zoomies about her right now :sweat

@manabusama - One thing I will say is try not to get too frustrated if it doesn't work on your first try! Handsewing takes some practice. A good pair of small, sharp scissors and a seam ripper would be useful to have. :)

And thank you! I do spend a little bit of time styling the hair before pictures. What I usually do is take the wig off and lightly mist it with water and brush/comb it. I also usually take my pictures next to a window in the daytime to try to avoid using flash. A ring light or lamp with a daylight bulb might help with lighting. ^^

    25. I have 0 interest in sewing myself, so I envy people who have that interest. To be able to sew anything for my doll would have been something, but going outfit hunting online can be fun too. A little bit of stitching in the back of a wig does not sound too hard at least XD

Although I've been in the hobby a while, I haven't been the most active image poster, or doll hair styler :sweat I do have chronic fatigue (ME/CFS), and that have kept me from doing a lot of things in the hobby. Hair styling is one of those things. I ususally stuck to decorating with hair clips, bands and hair ties, and just hoped for the best with the hair while taking images

I know it's just an image of their arms, but my boys got their couple bracelets today. And I can't get over how amazing the Ebony Skin are :D

    27. I got my Mari and Scarlet (and Granado Noah) back on camera despite the long string of unfinished projects. Been very busy with work and other stuff, so hadn't been giving the dolls too much attention. :sweat

For the blank auction dolls, can a faceup be purchased separately at an additional cost?

    32. Officially joining this thread. After a long time of longing I finally decided to order my grail sculpt iplehouse SID Claude. I have own 3 iplehouse bjds before but one was a JID size and the other two FID size. I had an iplehouse fid Claude si e 2019 and I loved him, but he was so small for me. So I end up selling him last year, and I always planned to order a SID Claude, but other dolls I really wanted got in the way

But finally today I decided I need it my hunk boy back in a bigger size. God willing I will get him soon. Do you guys know how long the waiting time for iplehouse is now days?

    33. I just finished a new gown for my hybrid Siean Elf on the *wonderful* Iplehouse
SID body - still my favorite doll body. This is the first time Siean has tried a
gown in a color other than blue or green. I do love this raspberry dance fabric,
not 100% sure that it is Siean’s color tho.

    34. It's a very pretty dress even if Siean isn't sure about the color.

    35. @Robyn_in_WA I know you love your blondes, but maybe a brunette wig would help? I love this dress color. Absolutely stunning.

    36. Hmmm... I'd say around 3 months. Your boy might pop up suddenly at your house, be aware! (When I last ordered, Iplehouse didn't send any delivery notice so I got pretty suprised when the postman rang, holding an Iplehouse size-ish box).

Anyway, congratulations on Claude! I wanna get him too because I love his smile!:love

    37. Thank you. I hope to get him before or by my birthday:)

I know I love his smile so much too. He just has a sweet smile. I’m so excited to see him in SID size. The fit was gorgeous I’m sure the bigger one will be even better because you will see the factions more detail :)

    38. Would you please let us know what they say? I'm curious now, too.

    39. Head's up (eh heh heh) - after the EID buy-a-head sale ends, Iplehouse said that they're opening up HID buy-a-head.

    40. Uuuuuuugh I’m going to have to spend money now that I know about it. Thank you for the heads up

    41. I wish they would combine the EID and HID women...in their head sales.

    42. Well, I sent them a Q&A about that, and here's their reply->

Hello. We will add EID heads when the HID additional head event is held. Thank you.

      >
      > Hello!
      >
      > When you have the "add a head" event for HID, can you please offer the "EID" size heads also?
      >
      > As a collector of the "1/3" size doll (I have the HID size) there are times that I put a EID head on the HID body for photographs, and because EID head looks better on HID body.
      >
      > Please consider adding a option of "add a head" EID when you open HID.

I will experiment with different hair styles, but dreads are something that the Sims 4 character he's based on always got, so he needed some too. It is an American Girl doll 10-11 size wig from an Etsy store. I took my chance because he really needed dreads!

And it fit. It did not seem too big, loose on his head.

    46. Thanks :) He's so big and heavy though XD But I'm starting to really like the size an weight of him.

    47. Ooh that's a great fit! He looks awesome!

      • x 2
    48. I were worried that a 10-11 size would be to big, but I were desperate for dreads XD I were willing to do some sewing in the back if it didn't fit, so glad I didn't have to do that!

    49. I’m getting close to completing my Captain Jack Aubrey outfit - finally.
Using inspiration from the “Master and Commander” movie with Russell Crowe
      in the Aubrey role.
My 2011 Iplehouse EIDm (now-glow) realskin Luo painted by the incomparable
Lyn Raftis is my Captain Aubrey. He has Gumdrops 14mm urethane eyes and
a customized MoniqueGold Paris wig. I found a replica UK naval sword for
him and made the scabbard with ApoxieSculpt. His boots are customized
      Iplehouse.
Sophie (Jack’s wife) is an HIDw glow-realskin Rebecca - paint and manicure
by Iplehouse. She also wears a MoniqueGold Paris wig, eyes by Dollbakery.
      All clothing made by me.
