Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 12

Sep 9, 2020

    1. Ugh, I know that this experience will leave a bad taste in your mouth, but I hope that negativity will fade because WOW! I love the way the wig and outfit could almost have a sepia look to it. And your picture taken with a grey "curtain" enhances that look really well. The tips look lilac , but they give off a silver vibe here which is totally stunning, all the similar hues. She is so stunning!!

    2. @Kaname Kimura Thank you!
@IngieBee Thanks! Well, atm the negativity is far from fading, unfortunately. But I have to admit the wig looks quiet good together with that outfit. The tips are silver :) The grey curtain is actually a green blanket, I am always surprised, how much colors can change on pictures. But in this case it looks better than the original ;)

    3. I also think the wig looks lovely on your Lahela. I love the ombre dye. It's so hard to find wigs that are a little different. They are not easily and readily available it seems.

    4. LOL, I'm having trouble with my camera getting colors right as well, @Ashemanu but it's also just a phone camera :P

    5. An older sculpt you hardly ever see...Zera.

    6. I still think of Zera as a NEW sculpt, LOL. That's how slow my mind and how fast time moves for me @luluna . She is one of their most beautiful sculpts, and I always think "strong and statuesque" probably because she always reminds me of Linda Carter (wonder woman of the 1980's)

    7. Oh wow, that's a very different look for Vera, @avrilpaeony , like an Irish lass :D

    8. @IngieBee - LOL! Well...what is old can be new again, I suppose! ;)

@avrilpaeony - Oh another Zera! She is so different! How lovely she is too.:)

    9. I have an oddly specific question. I have an SID boy from 2012 and his shoulder sockets are so, so, so tight I really struggle to move his arms sometimes, not to mention his painting was ruined literally the moment I strung him. :doh Does anyone who have the new model body or at least a more recent SID body can tell me if they've ever fixed that issue? I'm debating replacing him with the same sculpt but in a newer body, but having trouble deciding if the muscle or the model one.

Here's a photo of him for tax

    10. @Yuns - I'm confused by your question...I'm not sure I understand how the shoulder sockets are too tight...other than if they are strung too tight? I have SID boys from 2012 and after...and I've never encountered that issue...ever. Maybe I'm not understanding correctly.

    11. @Yuns - I've never had that problem either, but just to be sure - those are probably the regular arms, not the "strongman" arms, right?
(I don't remember when those were first offered for the SIDM, anyone know?)

    12. @Sianserais - No the strongman arms were not available when SID men first came out...I think it was Edan who first were offered with them. (I think.)

    13. Like, the shoulders fit so tightly into the socket that lifting the arms (into a T pose, for example) gets super hard sometimes and I have to pull the whole arm out of the socket, put it in the position I want and then put it back in the socket. I imagine if the arms were too tight that they'd be more difficult to deal with in other ways, but it's just that. I can easily pose them otherwise (I hate those elbows, but still) and just as easily pull on the pieces to see the elastic. I have a friend who said hers are very tight too but I don't have any way of comparing how tightly strung they are.

@Sianserais He has the regular arms, not the strongman ones! I think @luluna is correct in that they weren't available when he was released, but honestly I would have probably gone for regular anyway

    14. Ah, so mid-2014 then? Thanks! I knew it wasn't an option from the beginning, but I just couldn't remember when it appeared.

@Yuns - Understood. I was just playing around with some of my guys, and some are a little stiffer than others (mostly due to differences in resin texture), but not to the extent you seem to be describing. Have you considered or tried sanding the inside of the shoulder cup just a little bit to see if it improves?

    15. @Yuns how odd. I have SIDs from 2012 and my guys are not tight at all like yours sound. What others have mentioned would be the reason why they may be that tight. You may want to loosen the cord in the arms if possible or get a new set if they are cut to short. I even have a Claude, which is what I think yours is and his arms are fine moving up and down and holding a pose.

      @luluna
Yep, you are right. Edan was the first SID with the strongman arms. And even mine with them, are not hard to move around.

    16. @Bren He's an Eric, but close enough  I'll give that a try and see if it helps at all since that seems to be the general consensus, fingers crossed!

    17. @Yuns - Hmmm...that is odd. I just looked at a SID guy and moved his arms...and don't recall ever having that type of issue. Hopefully adjusting the elastic will help. :)

@Sianserais - Yes, I can verify because I had a Lee, Ryan, Claude before they strongman arms came out and got my Edan with them. So he was the first. (My other older SIDs were miffed...wanting to have more muscle suddenly.)

@Bren - Thanks for the verification! :thumbup

    18. YES, my SID Claude from the Elemental Guardians release has this issue and it's so frustrating! I've restrung him four or five times and nothing I've found helps, it's just the way the shoulders are shaped I guess... His shoulder (on the torso piece) actually chipped because of it, I was super bummed. That T-pose is definitely the hardest, and I do the same thing you do--pull the arms out and reposition them before letting them sink back into the socket. I don't even bother trying to redo his body blushing because I know it'll just scrape off his upper arms as soon as I put him back together.

If you ever find a way to resolve the problem, I'd love to hear it.

    19. Interesting! I wonder if the resin got warped somehow... Does the cup part of the joint appear to be properly circular?

    20. Ah, so I'm not crazy! I agreed to look into the stringing (which I haven't been able to just yet) since nobody else seems to have that issue, but he doesn't feel strung too tight to me really. If anything, I think his elastic is getting old and needs to be replaced soon. That's so weird that it doesn't seem to be a common problem though!

    21. Yep, heโ€™s perfectly fine. Just always been this way, ever since he came from Iplehouse. Iโ€™d assumed they were all like that.

    22. ahhh yes, an Eric. Of course. Claude's Twin. I swear I always seem to have trouble telling them apart. I even have Erics and I still have problems.:blush:blush. I do love both face sculpts. Smiles and all.... Got to love the lt browns.:dance

    23. I had been torn between Claude and Eric for this guy, they're so similar and both look great. In the end, since I got him second hand, I went for the one that was more convenient at the time, but it's grown on me so no regrets there! I'm thinking of replacing him with a new Eric in their dark brown maybe (he's dyed and blushed, and I'm tired of the airbrushing on his shoulders getting ruined by the aforementioned issue), and get a girl in light brown when the money allows it, which will be a while from now

    24. Eric does look good in any type of brown shade. Just curious did Dr Krow do his face up? It looks very similar to a Claude I got from him and he did the face up.

    25. He really does! His body blushing and faceup are both by Synthetic Ephemera actually!

    26. @Yuns - I'm wondering that since you said your Claude was dyed...in that ..it somehow made the resin...swell or slightly change the texture and make the socket more...tight? Or even the 'airbushing' on his shoulders might have changed the texture of the sockets...like a reverse sueding? I can imagine any painting would change the smoothness of the socket.

I had wondered why you said his painting was rubbing off....:)

    27. Well, I've heard that sometimes resin can get warped if you pull it out of the mold before it's fully cured, but I don't have personal experience with that. But if it looks circular, that's probably not the issue. I assure you it shouldn't be giving you that problem, though. My RS Claude is also from the original release, and he's fine. Strange.

    28. I don't think that's it, since @Myuuchan has reported the same issue but hasn't said anything about her boy being dyed or airbrushed. I can't say what he was like before though, because when I bought him second hand the previous owner shipped him unstrung directly to my friend who dyed him for me, and he wasn't strung again before that because well, why bother  The rest of his joints are perfectly fine though so if that were the case, wouldn't it have affected other parts as well?

    29. Hello, Iโ€™ve received my grail SID today:dance , her clothes havenโ€™t arrived yet though. Sorry iโ€™m posting this in the wrong place.

    50. Hello, I recently got my very first Iple girl and I'm having a problem with those little things in her wrist joints... they keep falling out :? Is there any clever tricks to make them stay in place??

      • x 1
    51. That one looks really open?! Try heating it, either in boiling water or a hot hair drier (not too hot, like a heat gun, you can scorch it) It may close up a bit (usually resin will spring back to it's original molded shape) Otherwise, I have lost mine so many times, I just keep them seperately and if I remember to put them on before a picture, good, if not, so be it, ROFL. Sorry, not much help @Lotte Rotten
