Iplehouse CREAA Doll

Apr 10, 2018

    1. CREAA sales are open quarterly, more or less, usually with one new sculpt available each time. So it works out to 3 or 4 times a year. In between times all the CREAAs appear to be sold out. I get new-dollie-wanties all the time. Sometimes I manage to tell myself no, but not very often.:3nodding:

    2. Ah quarterly makes a lot of sense, I can see how they can better control their production times and supply lines and such that way. I'm excited to see what they do next! It looks like they oftentimes have a fantasy and human version of each release so there's variety in each one!

    3. Oh god, new dollie wanties. Yes, I have been to this room. Frequently. Possible permanent residence there.

      • x 2
    4. Hahahaha!!

The more I take photos of them, the more I want to try new dolls :P I'll have to be careful not to visit the new dollies wanties room when Iplehouse posts more CREAA's. They're like the top of my "I'm not going to buy anymore new dolls, but IF I WERE" wishlist.

    5. I'm in the situation right now where I want to buy a doll in the MP but the seller hasn't been on DoA in literal weeks, hasn't responded yet to my PM and I'm all like, "Come back! I want to throw money at you for the pretty boy! I promise to love him and play with him and give him to two other pretty boys who want him very badly."

      *sigh* First world dolly problems

    6. Hello everyone =) While I'm working in quarantine and self-isolation... I had just a bit of free time, so I took some pics of my sweet couple
      [IMG]

And here one more pic of Clive
      https://flic.kr/p/2iSn7JF

@Iron_Dog I know that in Instagram there is one Cree boy that is still not sold =) If you're interested =) Also I do remember that in Russian BJD Community there is also another guy...

    7. @Helgovochka Your couple is lovely. Also thanks for the tip about available Creaa's but the doll I'm pining for is OT for this thread. When I hear about sales through Instagram I think about making an account there. Then Responsible Adult takes over, smacks me in the back of the head and rightly states I have enough trouble staying out of the MP here on DoA and I REALLY don't need another source of dolly temptation.

    8. I love your couple, @Helgovochka. I can't wait for my Noel to arrive so my girls can have a boyfriend. Trouble is, I don't know how well they'll share.

@Iron_Dog - Your Responsible Adult could use a smack in the head. Tell her to keep quiet and let you have a little fun. Just saying...

    9. @vermont chick Responsible Adult has been shouted down by Dolly Hoarder on this one that I'm pining for. It's a good thing my wallet isn't more assertive or there'd be some double-teaming going on for Dolly Hoarder. Wallet usually just ends up crying pitifully in a corner while rocking back and forth and begging for the hurting to stop.

      • x 1
    10. @Iron_Dog - Have you seen the TV ads for Blue Bunny ice cream? Instead of a full-length freezer full of ice cream and a bunny saying, "Give in to the bunny," picture a room full of dolls and a celestial voice saying, "Give in to the dolly." I don't know if it will silence the Responsible Adult but it's worth a try. Dolly Hoarder should love it. Don't know if anything can help poor Wallet.

    11. @vermont chick No, I haven't seen the commercial, but I also haven't had cable TV in.... 4? 5? years. I really do want to throw money at the seller for the doll (REALLY want to) but I'm at the mercy of waiting for a response. *sigh* Hard to be patient and wait when I've wrestled the RA into submission and want the pretty resin taunting me.

    12. Ohhh I love that pointed finger! Such cute hands! :)

    13. @Iron_Dog - Dare I say it? I hope your seller isn't laid up with the virus--or taking care of someone who is. I hope you hear soon.

    14. @vermont chick Yes, I really hope for their sake that it's nothing serious (like the virus for them or a loved one). Now that I've finally decided to buy, I'm impatient to hear back. Waiting is the name of the game in this hobby and sometimes it just seems really hard to have the patience needed. More so when the doll is already made and available for (relatively) immediate gratification as opposed to the possible months and months of waiting when ordering direct from a company.

And I saw this today and thought I'd share the link as finding smaller sized eyes for these guys and gals can be a giant pain in the butt. Swan Doll (SWAN DOLL) is now making eyes as small as 6mm. They only have 3 colour options right now but at least it's something. They remind me a LOT of Oscar Eyes (so sad they closed) so if you're looking for jewel eyes, they might be an option for you. I can't comment on the eye quality as they're a fairly new find to me but I like to collect resources for the odd dolls as that seems to be my thing to collect *sigh*. They also have a notice up that some areas they can't currently deliver to via EMS due to the virus so you might want to see if other delivery options are available if you choose to order.

    15. @Iron_Dog - I saw that ad for Swan eyes, too. Much as I'm tempted, I usually don't spend that much money on tiny eyes that you can hardly see. I might order if I can narrow it down to the right doll.

I hope you hear from the doll seller soon. Unfortunately one party in a transaction doesn't always feel the same sense of urgency as the other. One can be all now-now-now while the other is I'll-get-to-it-when-I-get-to-it.

    16. @vermont chick I hope so too. I may have to consider how long I'm willing to wait for a reply before I sigh softly and put the sale in a box and tuck it on a shelf. I'd had an incident before where DoA hadn't sent notice to a seller about a PM for a doll and I'd given up hope of getting that boy. Then the seller replied about 2 months later saying they just saw the message and was I still interested? I was and I bought the doll. I actually think it was shortly after I bought Kai-Wen off you (whom I adore and thanks again).

I can say from personal experience that 6mm are challenging eyes to make. Even when you're being super careful during the pour and think you've gotten all the air bubbles out, the failure rate is still on the high side. I haven't made any 6mm with pupils as I'm lazy and don't want to futz with making a pupil that small. But I'm quite pleased with the way Wisp's eyes have turned out. he was tough to find just the right colour as he was being inordinately picky.

    17. I've tried different eyes... And my investigation is following:
Leah has the smallest eyes - 8mm with 3 mm iris
all others - 8-10 (10 probably better) with 4 mm iris.

I bought eyes from Reinstudio and Enchanted doll - both of them make really nice eyes... I'll also try one local master oddpage (as I really like her eyes too).

    18. This thread has been quiet lately. I'm still waiting for human Noel. I figure he should be ready soon, but who knows how long shipping will take. While waiting I crocheted a dress for Zelda (my Zinnia) because I can't make anything for Noel until he gets here. Measurements don't do it for me; I need to have the doll in hand to be sure something will fit.

    19. That's a lovely dress @vermont chick What size of insanely small hook did you need to use?

    20. Oh! I really like her look! Colours especially =) It suits her very well

Also... As I've heard IH starts to delay some orders.... and I'm also waiting for my Noel...

    21. Glad you like it! The yarn is laceweight, which I find works well for this size doll and smaller. I used a 2.75mm hook. I keep my really tiny hooks for when I'm crocheting for 1/6 scale.

Thanks! The blue on one sleeve--as well as the blue scarf--are meant as an unexpected touch of whimsy.

It seems a strange time for IH to begin delaying. Many places are now opening for business.

    22. @vermont chick Really? I'd have thought you'd need a smaller hook than that to get the scale right. Then again, I'm pretty basic when it comes to crochet. Knitting is my thing (although I haven't been able to knit in several years due to arthritis & tendinitis) and I've only knitted stuff for my MSD boys with baby yarn and 3.5mm needles (they were also meant to be winter sweaters so...).

    23. @Iron_Dog - Baby yarn is thicker than the laceweight yarn I use, which is sometimes referred to as "thread". Also I work tight so my stitches end up cramped regardless of the size hook I use. Much as I try to keep my tension loose, it just doesn't happen. You know how lace is supposed to look airy and full of holes? No can do.

      • x 1
    24. @vermont chick When I crochet, my tension is wicked tight, too. When I knit, perfect tension. Maybe that's experience for me as I've knitted for... 40-some years and crochet is more of a newer thing (a couple of years). Ahhh, thread makes more sense to me. I've never worked with laceweight yarn because I'm lazy and don't want to hassle of it.

    25. @Iron_Dog - I used to knit but nowadays I can't manage two long needles. Either I got clumsier with age or the needles have grown longer. Like you, I've only been crocheting for a couple of years. Hopefully the tension will work itself out in time. My first reaction to using laceweight thread was: You've got to be kidding me; I can't do this. But I can. It just takes practice.

    26. @vermont chick I use circular needles when I knit. I used to use traditional long needles but after an incident with one of my cats where he "played" with my yarn and managed to pull half the stitches off the needle making me need to tear the whole work out and start over (it was a cable lace pattern *sigh), I switched to circular needles. Circular needles meant that never happened again with slipping the stitches off.

I actually use a needle system where the needles have varying lengths of "wire" that you attach to the individual needles. You can even join multiple wires together if you're working a large piece or have 2 different sizes of needles on one wire like if you wanted to do a sort of broomstick lace pattern. The company offers this system for crochet hooks, too, if you want/need to work on larger pieces or do Tunisian crochet. The needles are nice and light in the hand and smooth for effective yarn working. I don't remember the name of the product off hand but I could dig it up for you if you wanted. I believe it was pretty reasonably priced, too.

    27. @Iron_Dog - I can't picture circular needles for crochet. Do you end up with 2 hooks? I would be totally confused. Since most of my work is very small--in some cases extremely so--it seems to me I'd be carrying more wire than yarn. I'll have to look for examples online.

How did you manage not to kill the cat?

    28. @vermont chick there's a "button" you put at the end of the wire to keep your work from sliding off into nothing if you don't attach another needle. The cat was adorable. Not terribly bright, but very loving. A complete lap kitty. He did avoid me for the rest of the day though as he knew he'd been bad. I suppose the temptation of the yarn was just too much to resist for him.

      Still waiting for the Noel...

    30. @Helgovochka - Very nice set of photos. I've been wondering how online cons work. Can you see and talk to people as if you were face-to-face? (Everyone would have to have a camera attached to their computer, right?) Or do you post photos and talk via text or email? I wouldn't know what to do.

I'm still waiting for Noel, too.

    31. We have prepared our compositions and have send pics and videos to host of this event one week before and it has been posted on a web page. Later during the event host has been talking about our compositions and also there were several skype chats with different bjd shops (even with Russian doll maker) (unfortunately only on Russian). + there was online chat and you had possibility to answer questions.

    32. @Helgovochka - Wow! Thank you for the video. It has to be viewed on YouTube, but that's no problem. It's very long so I just skipped around and watched bits here and there. I want to go back and look at more of it. (I didn't get to yours yet, but I will.)

Noel is shipping!:celebrate:cheer:dance It's been so long since I ordered (March 7) that I had to go back and see exactly what's coming. He'll have the human head, normal skin, faceup B, and the sword (unbrushed). I vaguely remember ordering the sword. It will be interesting to see how long his travel time is. In other words, how long will he sit at the airport before he's allowed to fly. I have two orders from other companies that appear to be hanging out at airports. It's the new normal.

    33. Congratulations!!!! Hope that my boy also will start his travel to me soon =)

    34. @Helgovochka - I hope your boy ships soon, too. They're working on CREAAs, so maybe this week?

    35. Hope sooooooo!!!!!

    36. I've had two dolls and two doll heads ship within the past two weeks. Noel was the most recent to ship and he's the only one who has been received by the air carrier. He and one other doll have flight numbers--but there is no indication of what day or even what week they will fly. I keep checking...

    37. Here's Noel. He's wearing the only outfit I have that fits. It's a set that SoulDoll sold for their Winter Prince SoulKid. There's a coat, too, which I haven't tried on yet. I had to take the pants in at the waist but I left them a little loose. That way they sit on his hips, which makes the legs appear longer. All he needs now are decent shoes. He's wearing Dollmore sneakers. They're long enough for his feet, but make his narrow feet look gargantuan.

    38. Here's another shot. You get a better view of the outfit here. It's too bad SoulDoll has so few outfits for their dolls and then lets them sell out. I really wasn't expecting any of this one to fit. Now that I see it does, I want more.

    39. They look adorable!

    40. I definitely want to see more pics of HIM (as my boy still in IH) and them together tooooooooo!
And thanks for the notification regarding SoulDoll... I'll try to find anything too.

    41. Thanks @ResinRapture and @Helgovochka. Here's one of Noel and FID Claude in case anyone wonders how the two sizes look together. (I'll post more of Noel and Leah later.)

    42. wow. the two men look good together. the outfit on Noel gives him a bit more substance. they're both very handsome.

    43. Thanks! The minute I saw Noel on Iple's site I saw a resemblance to Claude, although in person it's not as great a resemblance as I initially thought. But that's okay. Brothers don't look that much alike unless they're twins. Noel definitely looks like a lanky teenager next to Claude, who is on the original muscular FID body. I'll have to try him next to Baron, my model body FID guy. Noel's outfit is just loose enough for me to hide the doll stand under his clothing. Luckily it's a stand with a very narrow waist. I want to try him with some different wigs. He already looks a bit girly, so the long hair doesn't help.

    44. I think the Creaa boys in general tend to look on the girly side. Perhaps because of their overall slenderness/delicate look?Wisp is rather feminine looking regardless of what wig he's wearing but that's also part of his personality.

    45. @Iron_Dog - I tend to agree. Noel doesn't have a personality yet. I haven't quite figured him out. It will come.

    46. I found another outfit that fits. :celebrate It's from Dollmore for their Kid boys. Like the SoulDoll outfit, I haven't tried the coat on yet, but the other pieces fit pretty well. A little on the short side but that's to be expected. He's wearing white loafers from Iplehouse for JID boys. I have another outfit to try on--this one for JID boys and girls--that has never really fit anyone. I can't wait to see if Noel can wear it. His wig is by F Styler, sold by Facets by Marcia.

    47. I love that pic!

    48. Thank you! It struck me as I put them together that they're dressed in the opposite colors of Thomas Gainsborough's The Blue Boy and Thomas Lawrence's Pinkie (also known as The Pink Girl or The Pink Lady). And I confess I thought they were both by Gainsborough until I looked them up.

my psyche, with a new set of eyes (they took almost 2 months to get here). She’s not a very popular mold it seems and for the life of me I can not understand why.

      • x 3
    50. She looks lovely, @WickedNightmares! Psyche was the first CREAA released. With the unusual body (at least for Iplehouse) and the really big eyes, I think it took people a while to get used to her. I wish they would re-release her because now I'd be interested in getting one.

    51. She is sooooo cute! I was trying to get her with reasonable price, but .... At least I have her body with butterfly wings =) I'd be glad to see your girl more often =)

@vermont chick Yes, we were asking IH to re-release her too =(((

    54. Yep... Actually I'm planning to modify hook from FID Victor for Noel (An-Shi) right hand. Hope to have enough time to make it nicely =)

    55. Sounds like an interesting project. I'd love to see it when you're done.

    56. I have a Leah on a boy body and I was curious about what everyone does for their Leah's wigs? None of them fit on his head because his ears are in the way...?

    57. Do you have pics how it's looking like?
Hmn.... I have Leah with human head, but to my opinion there shouldn't be any problems... I used IH wigs (long hair) and Monique with short hair cut. IH short hair cut looks bad (I have one and I really hate it). So I guess you may also try long hair cut wigs too (like on promotion pics) or you may try to make wig by yourself... Actually my Leah have wig that I made by myself

    58. I have Leah with the fairy head. She easily wears size 5-6 wigs from Iplehouse (pic below), Monique and Luts. I don't think I've tried any others, but so far I haven't had any trouble with the ears getting in the way. Wish I could say that of other makers' dolls that have elf ears.

    60. I contacted Iplehouse to find out the status of Creaa dolls. I want a ws Sara. I also told them that they screwed the pooch not offering more clothing when they brought that line out. So now Soom is back with Rosettes and Creaas are languishing. It's always something with these companies.....
