I haven't taken pictures of Samir in I-don't-know-how-long, which is a damn shame because he's so lovely and there just aren't enough Gentle Soo Ri photos in this world. I put him into Soom Heliot's "Desert Hermit" outfit, a magnificent quasi-Arabic fantasy of winding veils and bared midriff-- it is a Super Gem size, so YID is a bit lost inside it, but he still wears it beautifully.

Ohh, the Midnight Plum Fer! : I always wished they'd make that one in a boys' style too! What a gorgeous color.

And I like Iris's hair-- she looks like she worked all morning to get it to look that perfectly tossed-around. "Oh yes, I just tumbled out of bed like this."

Thanks! The Soo Ri Eagle Profile is and automatically looks perfect with any kind of Egyptian or Arabic or Eurasian fantasy-drag. Always wondered why Iplehouse never did any clothes like that... Soom gave us Euclase's Egyptian-God getup & Heliot's Prince-of-Persia set here, even though Soom guys have little perky Euro noses. xD

I think Karim (tan Lion) is next in line to get his slinky golden ethnically-ambiguous self inside this outfit. ^^

It was his first time to visit a beach!

 

What an adorable family beach photo! They all look like they have just stopped walking, posed & leaned in for the camera.

I've got the black Fer for boys and as long as you keep the jacket on, it's totally elegant... but yeah, the pants are throwaway, my boys always wear more interesting pants with it. ^^ But they've only ever made the one black set for boys, and I think that maroon color would be great for men. I suppose a YID boy might fit into the girls' coats, since they're so skinny. (Then again-- I should just admit to myself that none of my YIDs go for the frilly goth look, anyway. ;; It's better on the Volks guys.)

Quick question: has anyone tried jointed hands here? I've always wanted jointed hands for Axis but I'm not so sure which one to get.

 

I'm sorry if the question has already been asked here, but would this be an appropriate place for a hybrid of the oyid body and a different head?

JN, your boooyyyyys, they melts me. 3 I just love Remy. (I think he could totally rock the frilly goth look, even if he's doing it to be annoying to some of your guys who take it more seriously . . . xD)

I have never tried jointed hands on my Iple boys, but since I actually traded in their Iple bodies for hybrids, I am not the authority on this. I would assume that the only thing to worry about is resin-match, since they are a standard 60cm size (not all beefy and nonstandard like SIDs and EIDs).

garrenn, as far as I'm concerned you can post here if all you've got are oYID s-hooks. xD What head did you use?

I totally missed lovely Sonia up there! That is a beautiful red in her hair. May I ask what colour that is and from what company? It looks like Monique Gold, but looks lighter than the Carrot red, and the Triple red.

And Brendan (my YID Soo Ri) tried on the pants, and they were too short for shoes! You could hide them under boots though.
The shirt fit, but he didn't care for the coat. I don't know what it is with this boy but he looks better shirtless than in frilly stuff.
I wish he could be a bit more frilly, but he just won't budge. I do have to say though, he didn't misrepresent himself so far. He was an "alternative" mix right out of the box. This is a picture from his box opening.

Reeeeid!! @cads, Reid has never looked fancier or foxier. His gold fingernail extension was exactly what was needed. He almost looks like he's been transplanted out of Samir's photoshoot with all the swirly scarves. We could always use one more harem-boy around here. ^~

Brendan! Rocking those classic Iplehouse fashions! Yeah, YID guys are always too long-legged and narrow-hipped for standard SD13 pants... And now that this body shape is kinda going out of fashion & nobody's making clothes for it anymore (Sadol & 4D stopped making Lati Red sizes ;; ), I'm glad I bought up all those YID-shaped clothes back in the old days.

I could never get my YID guys to wear the frilly look either, especially the Soo Ri twins... Soo Ri is such a fiercely aquiline sculpt, I just never thought it would suit frills. Brendan is TOtally more of a tank-top guy.

Heh, Remy, he's a flibbertigibbet. He and Samir are roommates at boarding-school-- Remy is the playboy whose flitting about scandalizes the more staid Samir-- Well, normally Samir dresses more plain-and-nerdy than that glamorous Desert Hermit outfit, so right now you can't tell what a nerd he is. ^^ I'm still being infatuated with Desert Hermit Samir this week, so here is another one of him being radiant.

Brendan looks sharp in a suit jacket, but you are right. His best looks are tanktops and plain t-shirts
We went to a meet a couple of weeks ago. I sold the suit, and he was wearing the jacket with a shirt and tie, and the pants from the vest set.
I was shopping elsewhere and told the girl to go ahead and take the jacket off Brendan... I came back to find him shirtless. Nothing new there.
Then I logged in to see the pictures of the meet, and this is what I saw...

I like the layers on the tunic & the colors match his eyes. :3 YID body is a wonderful clothes-horse & makes a great model.

Resin match is also my problem. I'm not very knowledgeable with which resin matches which, so I kinda need to ask around first. Also, I'm not sure if I won't have a problem with the wrist size of the available jointed hands out there.

: Oh wowww, more beautiful Marses! It's a cavalcade of prettyboys. Seeing this many Marses in a row makes me happy all the way down to my toes. Reid and Remy have the come-hither thing going on, Axis looks soft and clean and sweet and almost sleepy, and Lucy looks like an energetic rock-star.

I almost hate to break up the progression, but now for something completely different... original open-eyed tan Soo Ri. Ilya was my first Iplehouse doll, and started the addiction that led to the crazy population I have today.

 

Ahaha, thanks, folks! 3 Reid is the one who gets most of the attention in my house when it comes to YIDs, but I've made it my goal to do more with poor Lee so he's not feeling quite so put out. ^^;; I just love Mars so much; I love seeing everybody's and how different they can look (even without super-dramatic changes made in face-up and styling).

Ilya is gorgeous. 3 I love his eye color with his skin, so pretty. ^__________^

I love checking back in this thread to see any new lovelies who have appeared here. Sonia and Draco are both beautiful! - I especially like long hair on an Aaron. he's such a beautiful sculpt. And Lee! Lee doing yoga!! He is so amazing.

Samir has come out for photos for the second time in a year (woohoo!)... I took him hiking with me up on Mt. Tamalpais in the rain. He's usually such a nerdy urban schoolboy, but I've found I really like the earthy hippie looks on him.

This is my YID girl

I ordered her on the last day before the original recipe YIDs were discontinued. I had always loved Freezia and figured that if I missed my chance to get her in real skin resin, I might never get it again! She sat in my closet for about 2.5 years (I never even removed the bubble wrap from her body) while I was busy with life but I recently had the chance to get her finished up . Sooo worth the wait
The only thing is I'm really disappointed in the YID body. I had to string her so hard, use alll the KIPs and hot glue and she still can barely stand. Also, why did Iplehouse make the front of the hip so low?! Poor girl can't even sit properly.

 

She's gorgeous! And wow, one of the last they made!

I just got a Barron head off the Marketplace. (The seller had already sold the body.)

I love that sculpt so much. I already have two other Barron's, but I just had to give this boy a good home. Im such an original YID fangirl.

He's pretty old, the owner said, so I'll have to figure out what body will work with him after he arrives. *is all excited*

I love him to shreds after all this time - and despite having newer Iples in the house! I just do not enjoy this body's limited poseability skills, though; I'm looking into getting him on either a LUTS or a Spiritdoll Elegance body.

 

What a saucy and beautiful Mars! I love that fey white hairstyle on him... it brings out those dewy eyes.

Sometimes I think about getting less-muscled better-posing bodies for some of the YIDs, but then I remember that they're all old Tan & Realskin resins, so NONE of their resin would match anything on the market today! Alas. YID isn't an action-figure body, but it does pose well enough, especially for the languid poses that I need from my guys... and it is so willowy and pretty, I don't think I could part with it anyway. Too much fangirl. xD

Speaking of body-hunts, good luck on yours [MENTION=12930]Rabbit-moon[/MENTION]! - Congratulations on finding a Barron ( ), and I hope you can scare up a suitable body for it. He deserves to be paraded around. And now you have a triumvirate of Barrons? Three in one house, aiee! *swoons*

 

Thanks Jenny! Im so thrilled to have another Barron. That is a sculpt I fell for hard. I know finding a body is going to tough, but I'm on a mission now.

Can you believe that both of these boys are white resin? Soori is from 2006 and the Dreaming Lion is from 2007.

 

Ahhh, Dreaming Lion! He is every bit as elegant and beautiful in pale skin as he is in brown skin. You remind me I don't change Karim into his Sleepy Karim head nearly often enough. ^^

I have faith you'll find a body that fits & suits! There's eversomuch more body choices out there now than there used to be, so I'm positive there's a good Barron-bod out there.

Rabbit's Dreamy Lion has inspired me to take some nice new shots of Karim. But he's still wearing his usual big-eyed head, even though I'd intended to change him into his Dreaming head.... because that gaze of his absolutely makes me weak in the knees. Ohh those eyes!! His power to knock me out has not diminished one notch after all these years.

JennyNem - it also doesn't hurt that Karim has those delectable molten-honey eyes!

You know how it is around here - almost nobody leaves once they have a name...or something close to a name. Or a character. Or an outfit... In November, I dragged out an old once-white Gentle Soo-Ri to a meet - and he's only got the handle of "Seer"! (His wig isn't actually pink. It's pure white, just does that in photos sometimes. And he will never let go of that pleather kimono)

 

Jenny, your gorgeous Lion makes me swoon! *sigh* What an elegant and regal sculpt.

Hobby, seeing your handsome Gentle Soori makes me so sorry I didn't get one/him when I had the chance. He's beautiful!

Time and tide have not changed how beautiful these sculpts are. As a matter of fact, in my eyes, it's only made them more wonderful.

 

HUZZA! I have found a body for my newly acquired ancient Barron head!

I lucked-out and already had a POPO 63cm boy body in normal resin from 2011. I'd say the resin match is almost perfect, and even more so to the naked eye. (Please forgive the flash photography) And, the POPO body is a dream to pose compared to the old YID bodies. I like slender bodies, so this worked out great for me.



I haven't even put eyes in him yet, because when I get the chance/time/money, Im going to send the head out for a new face-up. I like my Barrons to be hot, sassy, shaven blonds.

I tried to get a gentle head for my Soori, when they were selling off the last of the heads around the time they were discontinuing the sculpts, but someone bought it before I did and my sale kept failing :P Poo to whoever got him :P lol

I haven't taken pictures by the way, because Claire (YID Iris) got a chip on her faceup, and I am looking for an artist. Once I find one, I am going to clean off her faceup, soak her whole body and head, and then I'll send the had out, and try to not fidget too much till she comes back But yes. I can't post her all chipped. She would kill me in my sleep.

Hobby, the mod looks great. I love how different he looks with that one small change.

And if its resin is a good match for the pale old Iplehouse NS.... now I wonder if I should take it upon myself to make a doll out of that random floating Louis head I got as an event-gift back in 2007 or so. I only have tan YID bodies so the poor guy has never stood a chance of becoming anything, the head's been floating for over 7 years now. Never could find a resin to match that chalky-pale old NS. And the Popo body is also not too overly-muscled (Louis is such a toyboy head ).

It's good to see the Seer again too, @hobby-- what a beauty! Gentle Soo Ri is such an elegant face. All those old-style sculpts have the elegance market cornered....

(Yes, Karim still fills me with I Am Not Worthy vibes and I have the urge to bow down and leave the room backwards. xD)

 

Great to see this thread all active, it inspires me to give Kevya some of the attention I definitely owe him now that he has a better faceup. I should get him all dressed and go out on a shoot.

This POPO body matching old Iplehouse normal was such a random stroke of luck! *does the happy dance* POPO normal resin is very pale and creamy, at least it was in 2011 when I got this body. I sure hope they haven't changed their resin colors because I'd love to get another.

I feel your pain, Giodrakes! I also missed out on getting a Gentle Soori when I had the chance. So, that makes two of us looking for a Gentle Soori. I wish you luck. As, I recall, you did get a regular Soori; would love to see pictures of your handsome boy.

Oooooh! Another handsome Barron! Rosslyn, your Barron looks so different with modded eyes. Actually, the open-eyes make him look more stalwart and heroic. I like it! And, yes, you should dress Kevya up and take him out for a shoot! The more old YID love, the better!

 

Thank you! I did his mods myself, as he is an OC I've had for over a decade. No other BJD would work to shell him, since the Barron has got that stalwart jawline of his. He's had his eyes, chin, earlobes and lips modified, but I think he's still pretty clearly a Barron. I moved house last year so I am still unpacking art and dolly stuff and just the other day I finally found Kevya's actual clothes and personal effects- most of them anyway. Now if I can just find his boots!

 

Rabbit - that's a great match! Good "find"! Alas, all the Barron's are getting shaved. Rosslyn, yours had a beard too, right?

 

Ah yes Rabbit's does have a blush-beard, doesn't it? Nah, Kevya's never had a beard. His character cannot grow one at all. He never has to shave, though, what you see there is pretty much his state of looks all the time, which must be an up-side.

There's only one little draw-back with this body, the range of motion for the head is good except he can't bend his head back to look up. He can tip his head forward, and side to side, easily, but lifting his head to gaze at the stars is out. It's not a big deal for me, but I though you should know.

 

Has anyone ever tried changing the hands of their old YID boys? I'm on the lookout for a more graceful pair; I find the fingers on the default hands quite chubby.

 

I took a look back at the facial hair thread I'm subscribed to - Rosslyn, apologies! I was thinking of your Lupin, Lir.

 

Yep that's the one! No problem. Lir and several other dolls I have are very scruffly. Lir is getting a repaint once my backyard studio is done at the end of this month, and to be on topic, Kevya my Barron is also gonna get a better body blushing than his current provisional placeholder work.

 

I have not-- all my old YIDs are dark resins which would never match with other hands. ;; But I am curious to know if the NYID hands are compatible size-wise with the old-YID bodies? Because the NYID boy hands are absolutely beautiful, slender & expressive, unlike these old vestigial slabs.

Has anybody got both old & new in the house, who could try a hand swap?

(Now that I think about it, I have a local friend who has both in the house, and I will make it a point to ask him next time I see him.)

 

VESTIGIAL SLABS! But, yes, that would be lovely! I'd even like to see if the nYID girl's hands work, lol. All I have here are EIDs and SIDs.
