Iplehouse B.I.D. Baby discussion part 9

Thank you, I’m looking for a more colorful outfit, she needs warming up. She is on the q body but I feel like she is photographing thin? I need to work on a better picture for her because it really is not doing her justice.

 

The 'Q' body explains the thinner, longer neck. You could always add a bit more blush to her cheeks, without sealing it. That's what I did to my fair Elin. She was also very pale and needed some warming up.

 

I was thinking about enhancing her faceup a bit but I have never done it so I’ll have to do a little reading on the topic.

 

My three 'new to me' girls.....Elin, Aki & Erzulie. They are almost ten years old, and are in the original Normal with the French Resin - which I prefer to the current Normal. I already have another Elin in SR, so this one will be named Erin. She was very pale so I added a bit of blush (no sealer). I also have another Erzulie in Light Brown, so this one will be named Lizzie.

 

What medium did you use? I need to buy some pastels and brushes maybe even a practice head.

I’m finding it difficult to find clothes for the q body, not many sew for them specifically and I didn’t realize how much of a difference there would be.

 

I used some quality chalk pastels. Created some chalk dust on a nail file, and used a soft brush to pounce it on. I didn't seal it, so it can just be wiped off and reapplied .

 

I will get some supplies, I was going to use new makeup brushes but I forgot to get some while shopping yesterday but I’m in no hurry since I’m waiting on a dress to be made. I tried on a pink outfit I have from another doll line, it doesn’t fit but I could see she looks better in brighter colors. I also got her a better, more realistic wig so she will come together eventually.

 

I ordered some supplies to enhance Elin’s blush and lips. I’m also waiting on a more colorful outfit, but in the meantime I got a new wig and I’m working on her angles. Add a little golden hour magic light and she already looks like a different doll, I was not happy with her last photo.

 

She is really lovely - so soft and gentle

 

My Bordy’s new eyes have arrived! She arrived with green ones from Iplehouse which I liked, but I think these smaller brown ones seem to “fit” her better.

 

The smaller eyes really make a change.

Same with my Bono. First with the bigger eyes from Iplehouse.

The green color is beautiful, but i like her better with the smaller blue eyes.

 

@BrigitteJ - Wow, what a difference! She looks so much better with the smaller eyes. I also love the darker wig. Iplehouse does send nice eyes, but they are too big, and it seems so wasteful to constantly have to replace their eyes, when it makes their dolls look so much better. I wish they'd send their dolls with a size smaller. As it is, I have one HUGE bag of rejected 12 mm eyes, some in very beautiful colours, that no one is ever going to wear.

@BrigitteJ it is crazy what a difference eye size makes! Those look like the same eyes I received from Iplehouse, they’re beautiful but IMO too big for the BIDs. My SD girl is currently enjoying them

@midget16 - Thanks. That's my second Coco. Yes, there's some adorable sculpts, especially among the earlier BIDs. I think Ringo is my most expressive....

 

@MB Lilac your Ringo is adorable! I just got back into the hobby this spring, I missed out on both Ringo and Coco from the winter sale

I’ve been debating getting an Eros before the sale ends, he has the same smirk my 6 year old gets when he’s being mischievous!

 

Both Ringo and Coco have been discontinued for years (in 2014) and you can only get them on the secondary market. It's funny how certain dolls remind us of certain people. I never cared for Ringo at first, but then I had a granddaughter who used to pout like that all the time, so when Iple decided to cancel him, I thought I should probably get him, and I'm so glad that I did.

 

I enhanced Elin’s lips and cheeks a bit with chalk pastels. I also swapped her and Bono’s eyes, now Bono needs a new picture too but I didn’t have time this evening. Besides I’m waiting on new dresses for both of them.

 

@MB Lilac I missed them by quite a bit more than I thought!! Ringo’s pout is adorable, I don’t blame you for ordering one when you had the chance!


We went to the Dollar Tree earlier and found a doll house that is a great yosd size! There were a couple different colors, my girls have taken this one already so I’ll have to go back tomorrow and grab another one

 

I bought new dresses for Elin and Bono quite awhile ago but have not had time for pictures. Today I had a chance so I wanted to share.

 

Olivia (my second Bono) is playing the part of a Naomi as a young child in a story I'm currently working on. She loves to read and imagines herself as the heroine in all her favourite stories. Like Alice, through the Looking Glass....

 

Dear NineOneThree, Your Elin is adorable. I love that color of blue with her hair.

 

Does anyone have pictures of Naias handy? I was hoping others could share any pictures not already posted. I bought my first second hand bjd from marketplace and with the old body I thought she’d make a good boy for my little crew. With the shipping disaster off the west coast everything is taking forever so I wanted to dress her in what I had available. I took a quick phone pic last night in the dark because we’re still renovating and I haven’t had time for a photo shoot.

 

Manon got a new dress and a new dolly for Halloween!

Thank you! I knew I'd seen one somewhere but couldn't find him. Mo-A as a boy is definitely going to be the next one to join my ever growing group. I keep saying that I'm not going to add anymore dolls until the ones I already have are all properly clothed. Right!

I have finally found time to get new pictures of Elin. I recreated a photo I did with Bono but I’m still not happy with it. I’m struggling with my photography and editing partly because of time. Anyway I’m working on making her into a mini me, I like the Bono sculpt more I think but her skin tone didn’t look right with blonde hair. I was a little bookworm, dolls and books were always my escape.

 

She is so cute! I love the way you have her dressed and posed .

 

Thank you! It’s interesting how you can have a look in mind for a doll and it doesn’t look right at all, their character can really show itself over time. I’ve had her for almost a year and it has taken me this long to figure her out, then everything takes so long to find or ship.

 

This thread is quiet, any b.i.d additions or updates lately? I finally found Bono the perfect wig and commissioned a dress that reminds me of the way I dressed as a kid in the early 90s. She kind of reminds me of Rory Gilmore with this wig.

 

She's really cute. I like that style of dress - back from the days when little girls actually wore dresses.

My BIDs haven't seen a lot of action lately as I'm trying to catch up with dressing a bunch of dolls that finally got painted after the pandemic. I did make some new blue dresses earlier this year because all five of my little Princesses (Nami, Bonnie, Judith, and KIDs Fay & Paige) were asked to be flower girls at an upcoming wedding. I didn't want all the dresses to be identical, so they could be worn again, so made three different blue combinations.

 

I love the variation in the dresses, beautiful work as always!

 

Thanks. I already had two of them , so made a larger version of the one Nami is wearing, and a smaller version of the one Fay is wearing, and then a new design for Bonnie.

I also had the red removed off of Judith's nose since that last photo was taken, and I like her so much better now. She no longer looks like she has the flu or has been crying.

 

Her faceup does look better, I didn’t notice too much until you pointed it out but she looked like she had the sniffles

I always love to see how two different faceups can change the look of a doll.

 

Resin colour and wigs make a huge difference as well. I have four duplicate BID sculpts, and they are all unique. Most of my BIDs are in this photo, including the duplicates. There's two Bonos, both in normal resin, one with the IH face and one with an artist faceup. There's two Cocos, both SR, one girl with IH faceup, and one boy with artist faceup. There's two Elins, one in NS with IH faceup, and one in SR with artist faceup, and there's two Erzulies, one in NS with IH faceup, and one in light brown with artist faceup.

I’ve just ordered a Bono but a boy (Adam at the moment) - ‘A’ face up and normal skin tone. As I only ordered him about a week ago I don’t expect to see him much before November. But can’t wait!

Holly on her birthday. I usually keep my sculpt names, unless it's a boy with a girl's sculpt name, or in Bono's case, because it was just plain bad. Since she was released right before Christmas, I named her Holly. She has an artist faceup, and started life here with a special order red/blonde Roxie wig.

 

Here is Noelle, my Bono. Bono was not exactly a name I wanted to keep, since like Martha's she had arrived around Christmas, I renamed her Noelle.

I found a photo of Holly and Olivia together (my two NS Bonos). Holly has been on a lot of adventures and has yellowed considerably. Olivia has an IH faceup, and hasn't been out much.

 

Yes, I’ve seen this photo before but didn’t realise that your Holly had yellowed. If my dolls go that colour I shall be pleased because it looks more natural to me. I guess my Bono will look more like Olivia. Both are gorgeous.

 

Yes, my Holly has been on several big trips, where she was sometime sin the sun. But the Normal resin does tend to mellow with time. All my older Normal girls have yellowed, but I don't mind.

 

I’m glad to see the ns mellows nice, I have Elin in that color. I think the peach gold is mellowing nice too, the redness is fading to a nice natural skin color.
