Iplehouse B.I.D. Baby discussion part 8

Apr 22, 2015

    1. it just looks like she has some "grow room" very important for small children! ;)

    2. But the color suits her skin so well -- she is adorable.

    3. My Chloe arrived yesterday, along with JID "I". They are both real skin, but I ordered "I" in Glow RS. To be honest when i first took them out of their box, I couldn't tell any difference at all - not in their colour or texture. In bright natural light there was a bit more difference, but nothing pronounced. "I" is a bit darker, and ever so slightly more 'shiny'. I stripped my Elin, who I've had since 2011, and she's has two face ups so far, and her resin isn't any more yellow than when she first arrived. So here's the comparison photo of the real skin resins.....
I'll need to take another comparison photo once they get their face ups.

      • x 1
    4. Great comparisons! My Bonnie is a regular real skin from April 2016 and looks similar to your Chloe. Who did your Elin's face up?

    5. Charie Wilson does all my face ups. I can't wait to see my two new dolls painted, but I'm expecting I will have to.

    6. Is Charlie in Canada, Martha?

    7. thanks mblilac, thats good to know. if you can't really tell the difference, its not worth paying the extra for. especially since the sealant that i use is ever so slightly shiny and adds that slight dewey touch anyway.

    8. It's 'Charie', without the 'L', and yes, she's in Canada. She lives in the next town over from me, so I always deliver and pick up my dolls in person.

That's what I'm thinking too. I don't know if everyone's Glow RS looks almost identical to the regular RS, but I can definitely see a huge difference between Glow and regular Peach/Gold in owner pics, so it clearly makes a difference with that resin colour.

    9. Old eyes. Thanks!! :)

    10. and that's why i usually wait for owner pics, before making a decision....

    11. I usually do too, but then they had to go have that discontinued sale. My JID was already 20% off, so it wasn't a big deal to gamble on the Glow skin.

Well, back to our BIDs.... My Holly got to be a lilac fairy earlier this week....

    12. @MB Lilac how sweet!! She's the perfect lilac fairy.

My Peekaboo is kind of changing personality on me- I imagined her as a kind of spoiled, pampered little girl and was calling her Pandora in my mind but now I've got her and she's coming across much more wispy and thoughtful (still grumpy!) so I'm poking around a bit for a new name.

    13. how pretty mblilac. lilacs are some of my favorite flowers. i have at least a half dozen different varieties. though we had such an early spring this year they are all done blooming already. my husband and i spent today moving a 10'+ lilac that had grown too close to the house, and was blocking our fireplace vent. i'm hoping it survives the trauma...

    14. So pretty I can almost smell them! I do enjoy all your photos so much Martha.

Also good to see that comparison, it makes me feel much better at not bothering with the Glow Skin.

    15. I'm personally rather disappointed in the lack of difference with the Glow RS. Right now I don't see that it's worth the extra price.

My Nami was also a lilac fairy - a White Lilac Fairy....

    16. Simply gorgeous! :aheartbea You must have a beautiful garden Martha.

    17. Thanks! My garden is okay, but for many things - like these lilac pictures - I take the dolls away on location to where I know there's lots of lilacs.

    18. The jean overalls from TTYA arrived this morning! I love them!
The straps and bib are much too long for Ringo, so I tucked the back bib down into the pants. It will need to be permanently sewn down. Either that, or I'll have to shorten the straps.

Since the top and legs were so long, I thought I'd try it on a KID to see how it would fit them. The top fit perfectly, but the legs are too short. It reminds me of Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn.....or a boy who's just had a growth spurt....

    19. It would probably be easier to shorten the straps Martha, and perhaps what you take of the legs of Ringo's could be added to the bottom of the KID's legs like a cuff?

However, they do look sweet as they are. :)

    20. I'm not going to do anything to the length of Ringo's pant legs. In fact both coveralls are for BIDs. I just wanted to see if they fit on KIDs. I'll take a closer look to decide if I want to shorten the back bib or the straps.

    21. Fair enough. I am glad you showed us both though, because I might get a pair for my KID and add a contrast cuff and patch, just as I used to do for my kids when they had a growing spurt. :)

    22. i used to do that to all my son's pants. not just when he had a growth spurt. he was so skinny that i could never get pants long enough. that would be a cute thing to do to some of the dolls pants though, to make them look as if they had grown.

    23. Now I'm starting to think I should maybe do that. I'm trying to get some dolls ready for a road trip out east to Newfoundland. I'm thinking something frugal, like adding cuffs to too short pants, would be just the thing they might do out there.

    24. Mayhem in the lab, on 'Take a Kid to Work Day'.

Everyone's kids descended on Leona's lab to play with her animals....

    25. @MB Lilac - LOLOL! That shot is so cute....and it really made me laugh.

    26. Thanks! I especially love Ringo with a rat on his head....

      • x 2
    27. @MB Lilac - YES! Ringo is perfect with his eyes looking up! And even the rat looks startled! LOL LOLOL And I also love the one on the left releasing the frogs! LOLOL

    28. Martha these BID's of yours are having so much fun, I love them all! :thumbup

    29. MB Lilac, your photo of the kids releasing the test animals is hilarious! It brightened my morning.

    30. @MB Lilac , what an incredible set of photos! Your library of props must be massive :D

My new girls got faceups today, but they still need proper wigs and outfits...
      I modded Coco's tongue into a smile.

    31. My Light Brown Erzulie just arrived from Iplehouse and I thought I'd add a comparison photo. I'll add more body comparisons later. She is brand new, standing next to my Light Brown Efreet from 2012. Definitely a difference in skin tone (doll on the far right is Bonnie in Real Skin):

      • x 1
    32. She's really cute, and looks great in light brown. It's a very nice colour. Your older Efreet almost looks like a resin colour between LB and RS. Personally, I don't mind the colour differences, as real people are quite varied as well. The only real problem I see with the constantly changing resin colours, is that you can't buy extra hands or feet later, since they probably won't match.

    33. Thank you! I really was hoping she'd be darker than my older Efreet; based on what I'd been hearing from collectors it was probably going to happen. I'm very happy with her skin tone. I agree, my Efreet's skin tone looks to be between RS and LB. I am happy to have three distinct skin tones in my collection! I don't plan to buy extra hands and feet but it's something to consider before they change the color again!

    34. I'm on the hunt for BID compatible shoes. The catch is that I'm looking for inexpensive shoes. Under $10 is ideal, though under $20 also works. Any thoughts?

    35. They both look cute! Is that ebony or LB?

Adorable! I do like the variety in skin tones as well.

Have you checked Denver Doll? They have some that will fit BIDs, and they list the length for most shoes. I get most of mine straight from Iplehouse, though.

    36. I love this pic! It's good to see so many different resins in one photo. :)

This is my new Wren (Iplehouse BID Peekaboo in light brown skin), who arrived yesterday.
He came with a lovely set of green eyes, so no need to change them. I was unsure what the face up would look like on this colour resin, but it's really nice and natural. I also love the way the blush emphasises his little chubby cheeks.

    37. The best fitting shoes I have found for my Iplehouse BID (and KID) dolls are shoes which also fit the Bitty Bethany dolls. Look on Ebay (Juju's Dolly Mall) for the 47mm doll shoes (for Kish, Bitty Bethany). There are many shoe styles and most start around $8 per pair.

Here is my Bono PG Glow wearing one style of 47mm shoes.

    38. I have several pairs of Monique 37mm Summer Floral Sandals for my BIDs and Kids. I like the smaller size for their sandals, so they don't stick out way beyond the doll's toes.

      Holly is wearing a pair....

    39. Thank you so much.

    40. has anyone seen a picture of the bull terriers with a bid or kid? they are really cute, and im tempted, but wonder if they would be out of scale with my girls?

    41. Sorry, I've not ordered any of their pets. I just use resin figurines for my doll's pets....

      • x 4
    42. your pets are wonderful!

i have a couple eve-the-cat siameses that i love with my kids, but they are smaller than the iple terriers, and i don't know if they would work well together

    43. I have a bull terrier ordered so hopefully I can show some photos soon :)

@Zardi, they are both light brown skin.

@Xanadu Dolls, he looks great! That's the company faceup?

      • x 1
    44. @Cydril Thank you, I love him and yes it is the default face up C. :)

      • x 1
    45. It's hard to believe this is the same sculpt even though they have similar color eyes and hair.

    46. Luluna... Two of my favorite Elins in the whole world! They do look very different.

MBLilac, I love the photo above - those resin pup figurines fit in perfectly with your little ones!

Nothing like a sculpt retirement announcement to get me to order double-quick!
I looked high and low before I hit the Buy Button, but never did find photos of a light brown Chloe... I sometimes have trouble envisioning sculpts in colors other than Iple shows, but I took a chance and got Chloe in LB anyway.

She arrived today, and I'm very, very happy with her.

    47. @Jill in WV I have a Chloe in NS and as much as it was love at first sight, I have never quite bonded with her as much as I would have liked to, but I must say she looks absolutely gorgeous in light brown! She does have that island look about her too.

I think it's such a pity we can see the dolls in several different colours before we make our purchase, but sometimes we just need to take that leap of faith. I have no regrets on ordering my Peekaboo in light brown.

    48. @Jill in WV: Your Chloe is absolutely gorgeous! Is that an IH default make-up?

    49. Your Chloe is gorgeous! Her wig suits her perfectly!

I just got Chloe too - also a retirement impulse buy - but mine is real skin, and came blank, so it will still be a while before I can take pictures.

    50. Your Peekaboo is darling! I can understand why Iple can't show all dolls in all colors - they have SO many now, it would keep their photographer too busy to work with their specials. ;) With Chloe, at least there were three different resin tones and three basic faceups to look at, and I did try to photoshop a light brown version - with limited success. I'm glad I took the chance in the end.

Thank you so much! Yes, it's the default Chloe faceup C. I also have this faceup on another of my BIDs (my Naias) so I knew I would like it. :)

Thanks - I love my little ones in Monique's Roxie - what a great, versatile wig it is. If I hadn't had specific character plans for this little one, I probably would have ordered her in RS, as that's my favorite of the resin tones since the basic formulas changed. I look forward to seeing how Charie does for you with this sculpt.

      :) :) :) :) :)

In the same order, I also ordered Coco. I swore I never would. The sticking-out tongue just wasn't versatile enough, I was certain... But faced with his/her retirement, I had to make a quick decision.

And then it hit me - I had a character that needed both a body of his own (he was sharing) and could definitely make good use of an alternate "sassy" face!

A while back I scored a RS Bonnie head in Iple's last ten-second surplus head sale. I'd had him faced up with Elin's freckled default faceup and he became LT, son of one of my oldest, most-beloved EID characters.
But hey, wait a minute........... his facial features bore a very strong resemblance to Coco's.... now wasn't that lucky?

So I ordered Coco in RS with faceup C and was most pleased with the results.

Now I have LT, v.1, the "innocent" version, and LT, v.2 - the naughty version...

    51. @Jill in WV: Elin's face-up with the freckles works so well on Bonnie. And your Coco is also darling. Congrats to your super dolls!

    52. Wow she's gorgeous! :D Looks kind of Hawaiian to me (though I've never been there so my judgement is questionable:lol:). She looks fantastic anyway! LB suits her very well which is quite a surprise after seeing all those photos of white-skinned blonde sweet girl on the site :aeyepop:

You have a perfect eye! I was never able to see how similar these two are before you posted this photo! :doh Hope to see a lot of stories with this little prankster! :love

It's so nice to see all those rare sculpts (especially Peekaboo - I think I only saw one photo before) At least this discontinuation have produced one good thing... :sigh

    53. oh gosh my Anne had a rush! She travelled within of only two days from iplehouse to germany! To bad that our customs are like snails and I have to go to the hospital without seeing her (but my boyfriend will free her togehter with her and my Bonos wig).... but on the other side she will be waiting here when everything is over. Blank but finally mine after 1 year of drooling over her.

    54. @Xanadu Dolls: I love the Peekaboo sculpt - yours is very cute. Do you have more photos of him?

    55. Thank you . Not yet, but I plan on taking some later today with his friends. :) I will post them when done.

@Jill in WV Thank you, and I do understand they can't photograph all the dolls, but we can still wish. :) I think I may try a similar style wig as yours on my Chloe and see it she looks any better.

EDIT: Here's the Thunderbird Gang down at the railway yards.

    56. Hi - looks like notifications aren't working properly and I've missed a bunch of updates and pics! : ( Loving the snaps of the new/discontinued arrivals. I've received some shoes from Dollmore, here are the pics and a comparison with an Iple BID/KID shoe:
Dollmore deardoll shoes, on an Iplehouse BID (4cm) foot
I'm sure my boy won't mind modelling girl shoes for you...
Dollmore deardoll shoes, on an Iplehouse BID (4cm) foot
Dollmore deardoll shoes, on an Iplehouse BID (4cm) foot

They are usable but quite big on their dainty feet. IMO socks/stockings are needed. I have a couple more Iple shoes coming at the end of this month.

Your boy looks terrific! I didn't know you could ask for different sculpt's faceups.

    58. You can, and I've done it four times now. Only two of those times was it on a Doll Choice doll.

When not using Doll Choice, order the doll without a faceup and then add an order for a Simple Custom Faceup to get another doll's default. It costs a little more than a basic faceup, but it's great ot have options.
In Doll Choice, you pay the extra regardless, so you might as well order what you really want, even if it's a different character's default makeup. There are some limitations to what you can choose, but I've found Iplehouse to be quite accommodating of simple requests.

My Naias was ordered in Doll Choice with Chloe faceup C:
