Iplehouse B.I.D. Baby discussion part 7

Feb 15, 2014

1. Such cuties in this thread :aheartbea

On the subject of PG: I'm a little scared to buy dolls in PG now because I'm afraid I won't like the pinkness of it. I love my PG KID Lonnie, but I sold my BID Bonnie in PG because the colour disturbed me, it may have been the make-up too, but somehow she just didn't feel 100% right. I do still love the Bonnie sculpt though, but if I decide to buy another I will probably choose RS instead. The thing I do like about PG is that it yellows very nicely, I almost like my PG Lonnie more now that she isn't as pink anymore.

I think Iple's WS is really nice, my Elin is in WS and I love her to bits!

2. Just noticed, Forever , that your little sweet Elin might be WS?!

Dark_Reila, this Elin in WS looks good, indeed. My only doll in WS is a KID Addiction Lisa with very dark eye brows and eye make-up and a grey-ish lip colour. I like her very much, but she doesn't seem to be so versatile. Might be because of the strong make-up and a bit unusual lips.

3. Yes :) Eve is a WS fantasy Elin with the addiction fantasy A face up. He is so adorable and his skin is lovely.

4. I have three Iple white skin and they have all been different shades when they arrived. My Elin was VERY yellow. My Lisa was white white and now my Bono was pinky white. I'm a bit scared of the new PG too. It looks nice in photos but I've heard quite a few complaints about it.

5. I won't be getting any dolls in PG. Last year I had the chance to see a PG doll in person, and it looked nice enough on it's own, but it made my brand new RS Ringo look awful beside it. And my Ringo is the new RS which is way more pink than the old RS which is way more yellow or olive. So if the PG made my RS look awful beside it, I could only imagine how bad all my older RS dolls would look beside it. It was something I had been concerned about, so it was good to be able to see the two resin colours beside each other.

I suppose I could always keep a PG doll isolated and only photograph it with other PG and normal resin dolls, but that's too limiting.

6. i wouldn't get the pg again or recommend it. i like my rs, ns and lb dolls much better and they photograph nicely together. i find it annoying when companies change their resin colors dramatically like that, especially when they sell optional hands. it's such a pain when the option parts don't match! i like to have just one set for all dolls in the same resin color not have to get new ones for each doll :( and i know it is possible to keep the resin the same, at least for ns. my fairyland dolls from 5 years ago match the dolls i got a couple of months ago, so it can be done!

7. I bought optional hands for my two RS BIDs at the same time I ordered the dolls. The resin colors no longer match. (We're talking old RS here. The new RS is supposed to be more stable.) The dolls have faded/yellowed while the hands, which were stored in a box in my closet, are closer to the original RS color. I guess the moral of the story is to change hands often so that any fading affects all parts more or less equally.

As for PG, I'm not going there again.

8. I must be weird... I don't really care how a resin will look 'with other dolls'... to me that would be like saying don't stand next to me you are an odd color to a person... we all have different tones so why not dolls? but w/e... so fare I've not gone to the PG because I liked my girls in NS and my 'big' guys in RS... I'll be getting JID Edwin eventually and he will be my 'test doll' to see if I like the PG color in person on it's own merits...

As for spare hands/feet... ya I ran into that the other day when I swapped out feet on a doll lol... I still have blushed EID hand with the tissue on them from almost a year ago... I'll just let them lay out in indirect light for a while :XD: No more keeping 'parts' in differing storage for me...

9. i think it's more that the new pg looks unnatural or makes the other skin tones look unnatural. i have a whole slew of different tan dolls as well as different ns from various companies just because i like to have a variety of skin tones just like "real" people. but the new pg just looks too fake to me. i'm still trying to make it work 'cause i hate selling dolls unless i absolutely have to, but i'm not sure i'm going to be able to get this one to fit in with the rest of my crew, and i like my dolls to interact.

10. I found that initially the PG was too strong, but it faded quite fast and it looks much more natural 6 months later. I still prefer the old PG though, and I'm much less likely to choose PG for new dolls now.

I'll note that I do have my dolls out. Never in direct or bright light, but they aren't in boxes or anything.

11. Just remember to 'exposes spare parts' equally too! lol...

12. Interesting...I have a Byuri in the new PG as well, and she has not changed noticeably compared to a pair of hands that I have stored in a drawer. I keep my dolls displayed with ambient lighting as well. She is still equally as pink as the hands.

I did her faceup with a layer of Pearl-Ex powder underneath all the pastel, which seems to lessen the plastic-y look of the new PG, but I'm still not a huge fan of the resin posed with my other Iple dolls. She looks fine posed with my Volks girls, but I had intended her to be part of my Iple universe, and I'm disappointed that it didn't work out.

The new RS, on the other hand, looks great with the other Iple resins, despite its opacity.

13. I also have Byuri in new PG. It looks terrible.

I'd ordered him in PG because I was using old PG as a reference point. This was before Iple decided to tell us about the resin formula change. So when he arrived, I was very confused about why my doll's resin looked nothing like other people's. It is flat, lifeless and looks like cheap plastic.

My Byuri is not going anywhere, but definitely will not be ordering PG again (unless I get the older version of my Byuri, in which case they'd have to match). Such a shame, because old PG was luminous!

14. Just so you realize in case you hadn't seen anything before... IH currently has no intention of changing back to the 'french' additive for translucency. I was asking a few questions on other things and tacked on if they had plans for bringing back the 'french'. (They originally said they couldn't find a cost effective source). They said they did not, there were no plans at all to alter the resin formula's ... I took this to mean 'unless they had too like before'. So don't bother waiting and hoping for them to bring it back... they are not looking for a way to get it back even.

15. that's what happened to me too, i had seen the pg, got a bunch of people to do comparison pics for me before i ordered it, and then they changed the formula without notice after i ordered. i was very disappointed as i put a lot of though into the color and would have gone for real skin instead if i had known. :(

16. Your Elin looks stunning in WS, I'm so pleased you posted her as I have been debating about getting a WS girl. Thank You! :)

17. You're welcome! :) I love my Elin in WS, I was worried when I had ordered that she would be too white and look odd, but it turned out that I really like Iple's WS. I've had her for two years now and the colour is still very pretty too! Here's another pic for you:

19. I'm exercising with crocheting, and I decided to use Emma as guinea pig... she's gonna have some new dresses soon, starting with this ^^

20. Thank you so much :)

The dress looks great, good job! I love her shoes too, so cute :D

Oh and I just saw that BID Bono and KID Bambi have finally been added to doll choice :)

21. Hello! I'm new to this thread ^///^ I'm considering buying a BID near the end of the year, so if I may can I request some images of Serca NS with Default face up B or Customized.
Bonus thanks if she has brown eyes/hair (Or close too)
Thank you <3

22. oni-chan, that's my Fleur - she's NS, Default face up B and has brown hair. No brown eyes but hope she is close enough to whatever you need :):

She's adorable! I have a Nami too, have to take a new photo to show. :aheartbea
Do a reply-with-quote to see how I got the picture to show up - you didn't get the right link off flickr. ;)

27. Welcome! BIDs are great...I've got four of them! You won't be able to stop at just one ;) Serca is the first BJD I fell for, though not the first one I got. Mine is in old PG skin, though.

28. I have normal, real skin and the old peach, but never got round to buying a white, but after seeing your Ronja, I think a white BID will be added to my wishlist soon.:)

Zardi: Your peach Serca is gorgeous! :thumbup

29. ktk8, yes this is my Nami, I am new on DOA and still have to figure out how to add photos :-), she is our (me and my two daughters 13 and 10) favorite, I am itching to buy her a iple friend :-)

30. I also have Nami, and she's one of my 'favourites' (if we can even have a favourite). Good luck choosing her a new friend. These Iple BIDs are rather addictive. Nami was my second, after Elin, and quite a few more have come to join them since.....

And how much fun that your daughters are interested in your dolls as well!

31. Emma (BID Bonnie) with her Baby!Black Widow t-shirt

MBLilac, your babies are soooo cute!

32. i think we all have favorites. mine are the ones that always get to come on trips with me while the others have to take turns. somehow they are just a bit more photogenic or easier to pose, and usually my older dolls so i'm more used to them

cute shirt!

33. She's a very pretty blonde. :) The shirt's really cute on her.

Here's my Ivory ~

34. Ivory is lovely, Xanadu Dolls! Is that the same iple wig? ^^

35. Thank you Enid Black and yes, but I have since given her a new wig. :)

36. IH said they will be offering ebony skin for May's Doll Choice, so I may finally bring home a little girl whom I've dreamed of for a long time. I missed Erzulie and Efreet when they were brought out as Elemental Guardians. For quite some time I was completely ignorant of Iple's Doll Choice. I have longed for an ebony babe since the days of Aaron and Cocori. This is one of two final dolls I left open for myself, so I will be as giddy as a school girl when she is here in my hands.

I truly enjoy seeing everyone else's little ones, so..thank you!

37. MB Lilac, I love your collection of BIDs, also thank you for your patterns on your website, love your style.

38. Thanks, and you are welcome! I'm glad you find the patterns useful.

Here's my three boys pigging out on Easter chocolate.....

I came across the chocolate Darth Vadar head at the dollar store, and was inspired to shoot a little story....http://www.antiquelilac.com/darth-chocolate---fav-photos-2015.html

39. Awwwww, MB Lilac, the photostory was too cute!

40. TOO CUTE, MB Lilac! Your Ringo just slays me. I love how you made him look like he's puckering his lips on chocolate rather than pouting.

41. I never imagined Ringo would be so versatile, but I love him

42. It's funny how all three of them look just a little bit sick to their stomachs. I hope Ringo didn't eat that Darth Vader in one sitting, because the chocolate head is bigger than Ringo's!

43. You're right - they do look like they've all had a little too much.

44. MB Lilac, your boys are adorable, nice shot :-)
