Iplehouse B.I.D. Baby discussion part 7

Feb 15, 2014

    1. Lots of adorable Bonnies here. It makes me want to buy one!

    2. Ohhh that's a good idea! Plus the boy and girl bodies barely have any difference to them, maybe I could have one of each eventually, they would make adorable twins >w< But I'm trying to limit myself to a doll a year for now, so it would have to be a long term plan. Now if only the change rate could get better, it's not very interesting to buy anything in USD right now OTL

BTW, I've been browsing the thread and I am so amazed by your photography! You manage to make scenes that looks so real, I was especially impressed with the one where they are making a snow fort outside, it looked so real.

    3. the exchange rate is making it really hard to get the dolls on my wish list, it takes a lot longer to save up for each one right now.

    4. Ready to practice hunting Easter eggs?? Cordelia wants to practice with Maria, she heard the winner at the park Easter egg hunt wins a bicycle!

[IMG]Maria and Cordelia by LaurieESW, on Flickr

    5. Yeah, it's really frustrating :/ It's the same product but because IH uses USD for international orders, we have to pay 25% more for it. That makes the price climb pretty fast. Hopefully that'll get better eventually, I kinda wish I had gotten into BJD when the CAD was actually stronger than the USD haha

Oh and a question for you folks, do you think that the Mobility Joint is worth it with those little ones? My EID dude has them and they really help with posing, but I wonder if it changes something on a smaller scale.

    6. Yes, the mobility joint is definitely worth the $10 extra. Most of my little ones have it, and now I wouldn't order a new doll without it.

But, as you say, with our dollar being so low I'm not buying anything at the moment. I believe it's not supposed to get any better any time soon though. At least it's not down to 60 cents yet like it was back in the 90's. Oh yes, hindsight is so much clearer - I think I'd have purchased a lot more dolls when our dollar was on par if I'd known it was going to take a nose dive.

    7. Here too, alas! I actually sold a doll to get US$ in my paypal.

      Beautiful photos, everyone!

    8. Me too! The exchange rate is a real pain in the butt here as well, but I think the CAD and AUD are about on par. It's a real Catch22, I keep thinking I should wait till better times, then I think what if it gets worse.
      ---------------------

Thanks for all the spam guys! Loved seeing all those Bonnies, now I think I need to change the wig on mine. :)

    9. luckily i got a lot of the dolls i wanted before the dollar fell too badly, so now i'm holding off on all but a couple of limiteds i've been waiting for for ages that are finally being released. unless i can sell a doll in us funds first. it's probably good since it makes me really think hard before getting a new doll. i had another bid i was hoping to get, but she'll be waiting for a while now :sigh

as far as the mobility joint? yeah i'd agree it is worth it, i'm all about posability for my dolls so i'd rather pay a little bit extra to get them to pose better.

    10. Awwww, they are so sweet!! I hope they win the bicycle!

My Bono is on her way! Saw the shipping status last night when I checked the website. :) My poor BIDs have just been sitting around and it's been ages since I played with my Erzulie/Charlotte. She really needed her elastic tightened because she was so incredibly floppy that I didn't want to play with her. So I finally got around to tightening it today. I gave her an eye change and wig change too. I forgot how beautiful she was.

      [IMG]Charlotte by dancingbeedolls, on Flickr

    11. DancingBee, that is a gorgeous wig! Where did you get it? Your Charlotte is just all around beautiful~

Also I've decided I really want the light tan skin for the Bonnie I want so that won't be happening right now. I refuse to pay the DC price for a doll on top of the additional price for the skin. Not when it's a basic doll. I guess I'll be saving up until winter and cross my fingers that they have their DC-for-regular-price event again. I also want to get a KID in ebony so I'll be saving up for both of them. In the meantime I'll have to exercise all of my self control!

    12. Thank you! It was limited wig from jpopdolls.net from about six years ago. I don't think they don't carry it anymore, but they have lots of other great wigs.
If you can stand to wait to order, that's probably your best bet. They have been pretty consistent with the winter event. Gives you time to save up too. :)

    13. that is a gorgeous wig dancingbee, do you remember what color it was?

    14. I can't remember the name of it. I think it started with a "D". I keep thinking deviled or something like that. Sorry, not helpful at all! I wish she kept a record or catalog of past wigs and colors. I can never remember when people ask.

    15. The style reminds me of their Juneaux wig, while the color looks like Blood and Chocolate Dark. Their current colors are totally different.

    16. I too think the mobility joint is worth it. I have had BIDs with and without it. The ones without seem so 'stiff'.

DancingBee thank you. Love your Erzulie, fantastic wig!!

    17. i think you are right, it has that sort of deep auburn color. i wish jpop would do more wigs in that color it looks so nice on the tan dolls.

erzulie is lb right dancing bee? she looks a little darker than my erzulie who is realskin, but that might just be monitor colors

    18. It's just been so long that I can't remember. Yes, she's light brown. I think she's faded a bit though. I can't believe I've had her for four years!

    19. [IMG]
Does anyone have an Elin with this make-up A?
I don't think I have ever seen owner pics, and I would really like to see how this lip colour turns out.

    20. Sophie has makeup A. Its very pretty up close in person. The lips definitely aren't as orange-ish as the company pictures, they're more like a dark cherry/rose colour.

    21. I'm beginning to think I made the wrong choice when I ordered my Elin face-up, the A is so very cute. :)

    22. Thank you all for your answers about the mobility joints! Seems like it's worth tossing the extra 10$. I think I'm pretty set on having a BID as my next purchase now, unless I come across a killer second hand deal for another doll I'm interested in. Gotta start saving! I haven't had my tax return yet, so I'm crossing my fingers that it's going to help me put some money aside for this new doll. I'll be sure to pop back here once I get it

    23. Thanks Pixel-Dust for thephoto of your Elin. I like her very much - sigh!

    24. She's adorable, DancingBee! She looks very Wednesday Addams in that wig and outfit. Congrats!

    25. what a pretty girl dancingbee! she has a slightly wistful look that is really sweet.

    26. What a beautiful little girl Dancing Bee, such a soulful look. My Aki finally arrived and I'm excited to finally be able to play too!

    27. Oh she is delightful! Now I wasn't keen on Bono until I saw this photo, what have you done to me!! :drool
      Is she white skin DancingBee?

    28. Finally here, my little Aki! playing with wig and eye colors to find "herself" and her name :love
      [IMG]

    29. Your Aki is beautiful! I like her hair and eye combo.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments! Yes, she is white skin. I wanted her to be a little goth-y and I thought the white skin would be best.

    30. sisen: How cute she is and I love the colour combination you have used to dress her, very pretty little Aki! :aheartbea

DancingBee: I think the white has come up really well, she is definitely "Goth-y", and is the best Bono I have ever seen! :thumbup

My latest do over for Ivory (BID Elin) showing off her new wig and dress that I finished sewing yesterday.

    31. What an adorable dress on your sweet girl Xanadu, may I ask what size backdrop you are using?

      Thanks Dancing Bee!

    32. Ivory is so beautiful! Her dress is super sweet!

Awwww! Thank you!! I adore her. I put her in something a little less gothy just to see. :)

    33. Thank you. :) It's one sized for 12"dolls from http://www.raihing.com he has heaps to choose from.

Thank you. Your Bono seems to look great in everything! :thumbup

    34. Your Elin is so cute! What make-up is this - Serca A?

    35. Thank you Eilidh, no it's the Addiction human faceup. Changing the wig has made a big difference. :)

    36. she looks pretty in that combo too. her dark hair and eyes keep her from looking too treacley sweet or washed out :)

    37. I wanted to give my new Bono a flowery name like Violet, Willow or Meadow, but the name Dylan popped into my head. Seems like she keeps insisting that's her name.....still debating.

    38. LOL! Well at least she's giving you a name. My little one is still being tight lipped, and I really don't care for the name Aki :sneaky

    39. Your Bono is adorable in both outfits DancingBee.

      Ivory is so sweet Xanadu.

    40. You know she'll get her own way in the end, dolls always do, so you may as well just give into her now. :)

Asako: Thank you, I think she is too!

    41. Xanadu Dolls, would you have a close-up of your Elin? I am very curious to see her make-up.

    42. I hope this will do, it's a bit grainy:

    43. I love your Bono. She's such a beautiful sculpt!

Mine went out to look for pussy willows yesterday....

    44. All the Bonos(and all the other sculpts of course) are amazing :aheartbea I love coming to this thread to look at all the pretty pictures!

    45. I love all the Bonos here, too. They all look so different, and every one is a real cutie!

I' m so glad I caved and got mine in the Christmas event. For a while "we" weren't sure if she would be a girl or boy, but I think we've finally settled on her being a little girl (she has a girl body, so that's a good thing). Personally, I think it's because she got a look at all the cute things available for the girls to wear, and howl little there is for the boys.

She's real skin, faceup A, and doesn't have her name yet. It's coming, soon, I hope...

    46. Thanks, Xanadu Dolls. This make-up looks also very nice on Elin. I find it very hard to decide on one.

    47. I adore your girls Bono, they are adorable. I would gladly have ordered one also but we cannot have everything
      :D

    48. Awwwww, look at the adorable Bonos!!! I'm so glad I ordered mine! I think she's even with my Elin right now for favorite dolly. I think with the right faceup Bono would make a really great boy. I plunked a really short wig on her and the one boy outfit I have and without the bright lip color...perfect little boy. Might have to get a boy Bono someday. "DYLAN" says she isn't a boy and to not even think about it.....

    49. Does anyone have pics of Chloe they would like to share, preferably with a non default face up PLEASE!!!
I am debating about removing my girls default face but I'm really not sure if I would be doing the right thing.

Here she is with Elin and Efreet
      [IMG]

    50. Love your girl! She looks amazing in real skin!

    51. love your girl in realskin! Jill in WV. i have an erzulie in realskin with the same color wig i think
[IMG]aerin pixie hat by onebluestocking, on Flickr
      it's a great color combo;)

    52. This girl is magnificent, I like very much her outfit. She makes very natural and modern.

    53. Love the real skin girls. :) Here's my Raven (another real skin).

HEY ANYONE OUT THERE ~ I'm still on the lookout for some Chloe spam!! PRETTY PLEASE. :)

    54. [IMG]
That's Chloe in the old PG resin, IH default make-up B and Bonnie in the new PG resin, but old IH make-up B.

    55. the new pg looks nice in pictures, but i'm still undecided about it in real life. (i have a kid i got in pg right after they changed the resin) your girls are both cute though eilidh.

    56. @Eilidh Thank you so much. Your Chloe's face up looks much nicer on the PG skin and softer. My Chloe's face looks quite harsh in comparison.

    57. Eve is enjoying his first Easter at home. He's not quite got his head around the concept of the Easter Bunny. But he's young, little one's always question ;)

Eve - "So a magic talking bunny left these? Are talking bunnies real?"
      Me - "Sweetie, you're a human/cat mix... I don't think you're one to quibble dear."

Are these all for me? by LovesBloom, on Flickr

    58. I hear you, auntbear. My two most recent Iples are both PG: JID Daniel and BID Bono. Somehow she looks much pinker. Love her sculpt but I'm not sure I like the color. Below is Bono with a NS Naias. As you said, it looks good in photos. Much darker in person, however.

"I didn't think the Easter bunny would be so BIG!"

    59. I found that it often depends on the make-up, if PG looks ok or not. It would be great if IH offered some tool with which you could see what your doll looks like with any possible make-up/skin tone combination. Having said that, the 'real' doll might still look different from what you hoped for. I am also tempted to try a BID in white skin. But there are so few pictures around.
