Iplehouse 70cm EID Akando Discussion Part 2

Oct 30, 2008

    1. Iple's own 9-10 wigs fit EIDs perfectly, because they made that size just for him.... But Iple's 8-9s will NOT fit EIDs, sorry, I shoulda mentioned that. *blush*
Iplehouse's 8-9 wigs won't even fit most 60cm dolls (Volks, CP, Soom, etc.), because YID heads are very small. The only other 60+ brands I've met who can share Iple's 8-9s are Lati or Souldoll, the really pinheaded guys.

So! For EID, do trust Iple's 9-10s. I have three of those wigs so far, and all are great.

I also have a bunch of basic 9-10 wigs by Volks, Leeke, etc.-- standard SD-size big wigs-- and many of those fit EID fine, too. His head is sorta tall/oval/egg-shaped, so the "round-headed" wigs don't fit well, shape-wise. But the elastic-capped wigs, they're fine.

(The main problem with putting those cute/pretty Volks wigs on an EID is style, not size... :mwahaha: Radu & Bijan both look like complete MORONS in schoolboy-straight bangs, floppy j-rock forelocks, or wispy ear-tails.)

    2. I got a 9-10 wig from Iplehouse for my Akando and it's a perfect fit. Both in size and style. ;)
      Haven't tried others, yet.

    3. Ok, good to know about the Iplehouse wigs. Thanks.

As a side note, I never thought there would be confusion about these guys being girls. But when I first got mine, my sister said he was effeminate. Then the other week I went home to visit my parents, and my mother thought he had a girl's head. (Ok, maybe I'll let that one slide, Evan is cute) Today my sister kept asking me if I was sure he was a guy because "Both his face and muscle tone look like a girl's." I'm left wondering what kind of girl's my sister is hanging out with?:?

    4. LOL! I've seen heads here that could go either way, or look more girly than a boy. I love these boys because they ARE deffinatly a man!

    5. Wha?!?!? I'd say EID boyz are most definitely MAN!!! lol Maybe she thought the eye-make up was girly? (coz human boys don't wear make up)

I do agree many other BJD boys are very unisex and could be girls too (for example, Iplehouse JID Ryan) XD

O, Thanks for the Wig info! now I'm confident to buy from iplehouse!!!

    6.*rolling* If they all look like "Buck Angel"! Trying to push your buttons are they?

Yeah, "coz human boys don't wear make up".*_* ;)
Truly compared to most BJD males, with the exception of Hypermaniac's boys, the EID's are rather sedate

    7. Wiccat ~ I've been reading about your problem and Im wondering if aerosols sprays are used in your home? Like maybe Lysol or air freshners. In my home no aerosols sprays of any kind are allowed...not even the aerosol underarm deodorants or aerosol body srays. I also don't use aerosol hair spays either.

And how close is he kept to the bathroom, kitchen or maybe even the laundry room? This are all places that cleaning sprays are used and can also have the the strongest chemical smells when cleaning. For this reason, my dolls are not kept close to these areas and when I clean the bathrooms I close the door and flick on the fan to push those cleaning smells out while Im cleaning and will open the kitchen windows when cleaning there too.

It's also not good for us human and our pets to be constantly exposed to aerosols and cleanings smells so I also do it for my family and pets too.

      Just something to think about...

    8. Hm, no I don't use any aerosols at home. The only aerosol I use is hair spray, but I don't use it at home. Only on campus cause I do theater. As for cleaning... I use Drain-o and Comet, but not often and I keep the bathroom door closed cause I hate the smell. That's about it.

    9. Ok, been playing around with the two extra wigs I got here. I now can confirm that a Monique Gold wig size 8/9 will fit Akando. Also, that wig I got from Tensiya from their closing sale is an almost perfect fit, though the wig-cap's not particularly stretchy. The info on the website says it's for a 9 inch head.
      It's this one here:
      http://www.tensiya.com/2004_en/index.htm?mode=product_view_save&num=169&bignum=7&midnum=6&smallnum=

Seems to be still available, and they also got it in black, brown and blonde. (Also, they still seem to be selling some longer-haired 9 inch head wigs.)

And this his how it looks on Akando:

(Now, I'm only pretending to be putting this up for reference - fact is, I love this new look so much I can't resist showing Morgan off to everyone who's not running away by the count of three ... *lol*)

    10. Was this a commission??

    11. good morning!
Let me introduce my new boy! Never thought I would get one of these guys but yay....thanks Wiccat!
So here is Fabio Antonius Kermit Beefcake (tempoary name :))
the girl friend is an IH Iris but before you use this for a height comparison, she is wearing heals and is on a 1/2" riser (the base of her stand).
So the question for all of you is what to do with green beefcake?
Water God? (in a land locked state) or just blush him back to normal.

    12. Woohoo! Iris looks deliriously happy. ("MINE!") You'd better not try to take him away from her... Might lose your fingers.

Oh, but you'll have to take him away from her for painting. That's a good question. Does he feel more like a froggy amphibi-god, or does he feel like a regular dude who's looking for corrective makeup?

Maybe you should leave it up to Iris. After all, she's the one who'll have to bunk with him. Does she like 'em warm, or does she like 'em slippery?

    13. try the Nikki wig from Kemper
I'll post a pick of it on my boy in a bit. Its ok, not bad at all really. Oh and I'm using the 8-9 but the 9-10 would fit better.

    14. See, even green these guys are lovable! You could turn him into the god Poseidon?

    15. Thanks for the tip! :)

    16. :D Whoot! And wow, somebody give that guy a sword and let him swash some buckles!

Gaugh! sorry for the multiple posts, too many windows open and thought I was on two diff rooms.

    17. Just thought I'd jump in here and show how a JoJo wig size 8-9 looks on my Logan. It fits really well. His friend Ansel is wearing Leekeworlds Kosha wig which does not fit EID boys.

    18. congrats shoko86, love his faceup

    19. What a cutie! He barely seems old enough to shave that beard. ^.^

    20. I am totally in love with the basic, which is a good thing as I think anything else would put me in the 'can not afford school' section XD But man. He's perfect for my character named Tiny. I mean, really, what else would you name a rugby playing bodyguard? (He's a prop for those who may or may not want to know...)

    21. *prepares to duck*

I tried, really, I did, to search this thread....but am coming up zeros. Will Akando's clothes fit the new Dollshe body?

    22. I don't think it's been mentioned here.
Just had a look at the Dollshe measurements on the Dollstown site, if they are correct, it looks like shirts would fit but be baggy, pants are gonna be too short for the Dollshe boys though.

    23. no darlin...not even close.
      He is unbelievably big.
some of his clothes fit the Bishonen boys so that gives you an idea how big he is.
His pants are a full inch bigger than my Dollmore Model boys pants.
And his arms bust the seams on the shirts.
About the only commonality is the 70cm height.

    24. If only it was the other way around - those Bishonen jeans at last years San Fransisco doll-con were to die for!

    25. yeah...I saw those....I need to make some rocker Jeans but dang they take sooooo much time and just can't get the money back for the effort when it comes to selling them.

    26. Actually the new DS is 74 cm. And I did have an Akando here...so yeah, totally familiar with his Hugeness....but I think the breadth of the shoulders might be similar....and I'm wondering about the arm length.

Are the Akando measurements out there and I'm just missing them????

    27. Ok, I'll ask. What are rocker jeans?

    28. Iplehouse site should have measurements on any male EID's sales page... At least they should be in the Option Parts body pages.

Zag, I've just met one o' those giant new Dollshes, who was standing next to a Mecha Angel, & he's gotta be at least 76cm in real life! ;; But still so scrawny. Sleeve & torso length might be close, though, if he doesn't mind the baggy look.

(And EID pants, you could probably fit one Saint in each leg. It was St.James's boy, if you're wondering; he was wearing SD17 pants. A tad short, but :thumbup.)

    29. Thanks, JN! Exactly what I wanted to hear!

      Where are detailed Akando measurements????

    30. Iplehouse.net > EID> Option Parts > Superhero body listing. Has measurements there. (Am typing on my iPod & can't paste links. XD )

    31. I created a thread to database as it were that which fits these boys and that which does not. It got moved to the gallery section here.
I'm going to ammend the top post to keep a list as folks chime in. Spread the word and come join the fashion show....:)

    32. I Love the black-haired one!!

    33. Sorry for the delay - I was offline for the past week or so. Yup, the face-up was a commission. It was done by Eviechan from my German doll forum. She did a fantastic job, didn't she? :aheartbea

    34. Not sure what Pam's answer will be, but I'm thinking:
Levi type 501's old, tight and faded (at the right places; to enhance the form underneath).
One or two of the button on the fly refuse to stay closed, frayed at the bottom of the legs, knees,
fly, top of the front pockets. The rear pocket showing the outline of whatever was kept in it.
Sometimes enhanced(repaired) with studs and/or leather.
That's a lot of hand work to create that for a doll!

*You know the kind of jeans men love but their wives throw out*:...(:

    35. Zagzagael, Miss Ally has both boys. I can ask her to try the EID clothes on the Dollshe but I strongly suspect that they will look way off. Was there a type of clothing in particular you wanted to check out?

    36. ok, so here is my poor humiliated Ginger modeling the EID clothes for you guys..... the pants length is "almost" ok, but way to big around, the shirt? maybe if you like an oversized look, and rolled up the sleeves

ok Ginger, smile for the nice people.....

    37. I always think of them like the kind Jon Van Jovi wore....or with leather yokes and mock chaps on the front hems.
      or like these...

    38. Miss Ally, it looks like a weight loss commercial. These are the pants I use to be able to fill out. LOL!

      -Anneke

    39. .... Or a "bulimia kills" poster....

    40. Ah, that explains it. Thanks.

    41. Oooh! Thank you, Miss Ally! That helps more than you realize!

    42....... well, your welcome...... Ginger is humiliated...... he is insisting on buckets of ice cream.....

    43. Ginger deserves extra Haagen-Dasz for that! Good man.

    44. And if you feed him enough of it, he might finally fit those clothes...

    45. Okay, this is probably an awful thing to say, but... If you gave him sneakers or work boots, corn rows, put a pair of red boxers on his butt (keep those jeans at that same height, if not a little lower) and put him in a slouching position... he'd look like a lot of the kids that go to the high school near me. >_>;

    46. A note on the green Akando issue. I have now noticed that the face, chest and upper arms of my chap are starting to take on a lighter, slightly green tint. It is not glaring, just enough that you would notice it if it were pointed out to you. Now, I haven't taken the care I should have of my resin and he has once been out in bright sunlight and spends about half of his time sitting out in a not-too-bright room. He is also stored fairly near a radiator, although with his feet towards the hot area and these are fine. So, I really can't blame Ip for this. I will just blush a bit of red over the areas and give him a coat of UV Cut.

So, not a disaster, but I thought it worth flagging up in case other people abuse their dolls in the way that I do. We don't need more RealGreen EIDs, do we?

    47. O_o...!! Hoshit! Well, now we know... When those webpages warn about not leaving Tan Children in too much sun, they're seriously not kidding around. Aww, poor Horse! Hope a little blushing & UV-cut sets him right.

Bijan mostly lives behind a drape, & I'm relieved to report that his color is still fine. (I just had to run & check. ;; ) If he'd turned green in the dark, then we'd've had some weirdness on our hands.

    48. :horror: *sucks in air and clenches teeth over scream* I so do not want to be reading this. As the freaking out owner of three real skin EID's I so do not want to be reading this. I also don't want my guys stuck living in their boxes in a 60 degree storage room either. On the other hand Nori has a full body blush job and was sealed but his joints are starting to show that annoying white area where the friction does that weird thing to the sealer. Is it just the real skin guys that are doing this or are any of the NS or WS trying to go Hulkish on folks? Is this going green trait one of the reasons we keep seeing the EID guys showing up in the MP?

    49. I did buy one there (MP) but it was Wiccat's and she needed to fund the replacement. As green as his head cap is its not that bad over the rest of the body yet. I have him living in a bag right now until I get get the full body treatment for him. Its not Hulk or kermit green either, just not that nice tan he was to start with. When I find the battery for the camera I will post better pics if you'all want...
(And yes, I have deciced what to do with him, but its either find a customizer for full body work with an airbrush or buy the airbrush myself...)

    50. Don't worry too much madera. As I said, I really didn't treat him the way a tan half French resin doll should be treated, so I sort of asked for it. And I am incredibly picky about what my dolls like, and it is not so severe that it particullrly bothers me. I will blush it more red next time I have to do his upper body. But in the meantime it is really not at all noticeable

    51. OH NO @@ another greening ><

When you UV coat your dolls, do you disassemble the body first? so you won't miss the hidden area, or just spray the whole body?

    52. disassemble is best

    53. I got Morgan in early March. He's a NS Akando. Ever since I got him, he's been sitting next to Luken on that little wooden bench in my living room/bedroom. Not in direct sunlight but the room gets plenty of sun. Just took a closer look at him and found no sign of greening. My guess is that it's a Real Skin only problem. (And now, I'm actually quite glad I didn't get a real skin one cos I'm just not the type to stick a doll in a box. Guess that means no tanned dolls for me.)

    54. My tan dolls don't live in their boxes either! I just put a drape over their shelves while I'm away at work during the daylight hours. (Of course if you work nights, this tactic wouldn't be so practical...) Tan resin is not so hard to take care of, but you do hafta be willing to take an extra step or two.

    55. Random tidbit on the EID Superhero clothes: apparently, the jeans fit female Mecha Angels as hip huggers. Perfectly, actually. Frighteningly well.

I'm dragging one of my girls with me on a road trip since I'm bringing knitting, and she's the fit model for the sweater I'm working on, and didn't want to drag her nekkid. I have... well, not much in the way of clothes for the MA girls, so I thought, "Dang, I need to just put SOMETHING on her, maybe I can get the EID jeans on... oh, whoa, that works!" The waistband -just- catches on the fullest part of the hips, which means the jeans come right down to the top of the ankle joint. Score! They're very much the 'casual baggy' style, but they look pretty good!

    56. Nice find!!!>surreality
I like when some clothes fit the other dolls XD

    57. If you haven't seen it already, I've got a little Mad Science Experiment going on with an Iple tan foot-change part (regular tan, not RealSkin) here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298408 -- with rather terrifying results. :aeyepop:

    58. On the subject of the greening Akandos, I just did a shoot with mine and you can just see what I mean about the colour change. You can see that his face, chest and trapezoids have got a little lighter and are slightly green. It doesn't look much more noticeable in real life and will be easily solved with a bit of red blushing to it. And, because of the isolated spots of colour change, I can tell exactly when it happened. It was when he was at a meet that was outdoors in bright sunlight and he was covered except for the areas that have changed colour. So, he greened after one afternoon in the sunlight. Scary!
