Iplehouse 70cm EID Akando Discussion Part 2

Is his body the same as EID Super Hero body? Because I want him so badly. I love the thickness of the neck but I wish I could have a different head. I can't wait till he goes standard!

I think $650 is a very reasonable price for a basic doll this size. I wonder if he'll have the option of a jeans + shirt outfit like the YIDs.

 

but he's gonna be heavy!!!! so the shipping fee will probably be $70+ for me. XD;

I asked about an Akando standard and they are looking at early November, but with the delays in Akando-Pierrot shipping, I'd say mid-November. XD;

 

I cannot wait to see the standard release Akando come out. How long was it between when Iple release the twins and Amy? I would love to see what other EID boys come out.

Do you think they will ever have the regular darker tan as an option for the EID?

 

I've been stalking these discussion threads about Akando. I'm hoping when he is released as a basic, I can purchase him during the summer. I hope they'll let him be in the tan skin that they have for the limited.

 

I sincerely doubt he'll be available as tan- that was the point of him being a limited. Also; someone asked IP about it and they said no...the basic will be NS only.

Hmph. I have just contacted and heard back from Iplehouse about the shipping. Seeing as I bought and paid for him straight up on the day he was ordered- they have predicted his shipping to be from the middle to the end of November...how can that be when they said the shipping should most likely be this week?

 

They've been pretty up front about the difficulty in getting the casting right. I would imagine it's causing more of a delay / headache than they initially projected.

 

Basic Akando ought to be available soon. Iple's news section (top right on their main site) has a bit where they're offering free dreaming heads to customers who buy dolls between Nov 7 and Dec 8, and if you buy an EID, they're offering a dreaming Akando head.

yeah I asked them about it and they said they were having difficulties casting him (even more so than they had anticipated)...i'm sure we'll have him really soon! I was just a grump yesterday

 

So, is the dreaming head the same as the gentle head? If so, it's my turn to grump. The gentle head was one of the main reasons I emptied my savings account into Iplehouse (as they said clearly that it would only be available for the LE). If they are now giving it away free with a standard doll, I feel a little cheated. I would probably have been prepared to forgo that wonderful tan for the sake of $600. Hmm.

 

I bet it's a closed eye version of the basic head. That would be some dirty pool if they just renamed and re-released the gentle head.

Ah, yes. Completely closed eyes. But OMG! That Akando sleeping head is so beautiful. Shame it wont go with the LEs. Anyway, same face, different eyes. That mouth is so yummy and looks much better in that lighter colour. I really can't wait until our chaps to come in.

EDIT: And I've just seen on the Q&A board that the standard Akandos are due to go on sale on the 7th November. Normal and white skin tones. Just in time for Xmas!

 

I got charged shipping for my clothes too, and they put it in with the other order, without me asking them to :/

 

I asked in Q&A whether they could refund me shipping and just include the clothes with the doll and they said they couldn't refund. Claim the shipping will increase because the clothes are in the box. I don't buy it.

That's strange, I asked them the same thing and they said they couldn't refund the shipping, but that they'd give me store credit for the overpaid shipping. Maybe you should ask again to make sure they are going to give you store credit?

 

dear lord look at how handsome he is asleep (disclaimer - I don't like sleeping heads as a general rule), I DO NOT need Akando twins, sweet baby jesus someone hide my wallet, change the paypal password, knock me out, WHATEVER when those go up. I'm having such a hard time resisting this man.

I had that instinct too! But it's not the same as the special Gentle Smile head (half-open eyes, smiley mouth) that comes with the Pierrot fullset. At least that's still unique. But it's almost prettier. Aaah, I don't care how much of a long-shot it is: I gotta go ask them if he'll ever be Dreaming + Realskin at the same time.

(That's a stunning faceup on Mr. Dreaming Normalskin, too, btw.)

I'm hearing a whole lot of "I never like sleeping dolls, but"! ^^ The Iplehouse Dreaming guys & girls will do that to you. I too was a disliker of closed-eyed dolls, before Dreaming Tan Lion swooned his way into my life. And then I saw the light, alleluia. They're amazing. Gaaaah, so amazing, now I also want a Dreaming Ryushin! Lookit hiiiim, he's just ready to pass out in your arms from sheer joy, isn't he?

that dreaming Akando head is absolute love, but it looks like the dreaming heads are LIMITED. if you guys the read the rest of the News from Iplehouse, they said that the dreaming heads were made in certain amount and if they're gone then customers will recieve wigs as replacements. XD;

and I quote:

"2) The event head can be sold out so quickly, and when the head is sold-out, this will be replaced with the wig."

I'm looking forward to Akando basic, but I doubt I'll buy him in time to get that dreaming head XD;

 

Ooooooh dreaming heads! I agree, that Ryushin dreaming head is pure So is Amy - she's so cute, all snuggled up and sleeping soundly! Me wants her.

Akando's still not tempting me enough though - I'm gonna wait for more sculpts before I plunge headfirst into an EID's strong embrace.

 

The event heads are limited... But sometimes event heads may come back later, as option heads, or as other releases. Dreaming Lion & Gentle Soo Ri both had a couple different incarnations, if I recall. And I remember some of the Gentle-eyed girls debuted as the Swan Lake LEs, but I think those heads were also given as event heads too at one point, weren't they?

The only event-head I've gotten was a regular-eyed Louis in '06-- for some reason, they gave me an NS Louis head when I bought my Tan Soo Ri, even though I only had a tan body. (They hadn't quite figured out the logistics of the event-heads in regards to coloring, yet. Their system makes much more sense now. XD) My other Tan fullsets had Dreaming/Gentle option-heads, but since they were tan, they weren't part of the regular event-head promotion. Which makes more sense to me-- because as pretty as those WS/NS heads are, they're no use to me without a WS/NS body to put them on. *more sepulchral sighing*

(So it goes. I want one of those multitudes of Akando NS Basic buyers out there, I want you to post lots of pics of that sleeping beauty.)

Iples know what they're doing, too. You don't get an event-head if you just buy a headless body, you have to buy a whole doll. ^^

OK, I'm eating my words. When I saw the special set Akando, I thought that he wasn't mature enough for me but my this boy is yummy!!! I'm now trying to decide what all I need to get with him.

Also what are your opinions on the mobility joint? I know Iplehouse has had some problems with them in the past.

 

Oh Day-Um!! Suit!!! *hemmorages all over computer monitor!* Holy crap, he looks so amazing in it I can't even STAND it!!! Those back shots just...... I lust after that body......in that suit. *winces at heavy price tag* Damn, it's expensive though. I would love to see him in some sort of Uniform too.

Iplehouse's clothing department is just having a field day making stuff for Akando, ain't they? I didn't expect them o come out with so much stuff for him so quickly.

 

I think it's good that they're making stuff for the Akando so quickly. So that when people get their Akando they can have nice clothes without having to wait for a long time, unlike other companies that don't even have clothes.

Also... Is that Seijuro Shin from Eyeshield 21 in your icon Miss-Pygmalion?

 

Ho jeez, that suit is adorable. : The more they try to make Akando look tough and suave and and grown-up, the more they succeed in making him look like a sweetfaced teenager who doesn't look quite comfortable buttoned into his first Graduation Night suit. And can we tawk about how adorable is that hat-and-scarf combo?! Nosebleed-level cute. XD He is just so very endearing.

The clothes look exquisite, btw! You will find that painful price-tag is worth it. But, as always, I am saddened that not many of them are my style-- otherwise I would love to have them. Their suits are so flawless, they must've been tailored by pixies.

(Do you remember Tan Lion's default suit? http://iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=565 = XDD I almost wept when I had to sell it, it was so beautifully-made. But I kept laughing whenever I looked at it, and I could hear my Lion cringe when he looked at it. If you can hear a doll cringe, it's got to go.)

I only heard that the girls had problems with them..

For a brief period they made mobility-thighs on the boy body-- v3? the one in '06, before Model came out. Never had any problems with those. In fact, they're incredible and amazing and wonderful and I MISS them! A boy should be able to sit cross-legged. My old Soo Ri can practically do tantric yoga (one-piece torso notwithstanding).

This new mobility joint looks a little different from the old ones. It looks more like the ones on the JID girls. I'm really eager to put the new body through its paces. :}

I think that's just those of us who placed multiple orders-- we had to jump quickly to get the Pierrot LE, so those orders got placed before any of the clothing came out. Now we're ordering clothes separately, & trying to cajole Iples into combining the shipping. Akando's shipping-cost, as you might imagine, is very OUCH.

 

I love the clothing but I have to echo what a few others have said and they're not really my boys style. It's so nice to see piccies of him without the Pierot faceup though so we can get an idea of how he looks. I'm so tempted to have twin Akando's (albeit one being tanned..) lol!

 

Though tempted, I will sit on my hands for a while( I didn't with my Saints) waiting to see what's around the next corner.

 

I'm debating the mobility joint- I don't think the character I'm getting him for is the type to cross his legs.

I am curious about that extra bum piece though- anyone have any idea what their function is?

Well, he doesn't have to cross them like a girrrrrl. I mean figure-four style like this (EID), or this (YID). It also allows the legs to splay apart in a 'natural' way, like a man's do when he sits down.
(I would show Ilya in an indian-style/lotus position too, but I don't have any PG13 rated photos I could share here, i.e. with clothes on. ^^ Perhaps someone else with an oldstyle body could oblige! Or, Mr. Lapin, perhaps little Ithaka could demonstrate?)

The butt-pieces are rotator cuffs-- like the shoulders on LUTS or SD16-- that allow the joint to stay in place, while moving all the way through the full range of rotation allowed by the ball. You know how you can sort-of get a regular-jointed doll to spread its legs or do the splits, if you dislocate the thigh entirely from the butt? If you have a rotator cuff over it, you can move that joint much further without having to dislocate it. It's a fab invention, and I can't wait to get my hands on a large-male body that has this feature.

I would only avoid a Mobility-joint if the doll's sculpture is more important to you than his poseability... The joint does interrupt the lovely line of his upper thigh. But this doesn't personally bother me, because I'd rather have him poseable. It depends on your own preferences/priorities.
