Introducing Késhav and Charisma! [New Pics! 2/09/07!]

Hi andarton! I can't say what the exact edition number for these guys will look like just yet -- right now I'm still concentrating on sculpting, design, and a bunch of other issues.

But both molds will likely be very limited releases, yes. A limited release is the only way to give each one the attention it deserves. Batchix and myself (and possibly another artist) will be the only ones working with these, and we want to do an excellent job of them!

 

Hi again andarton! Right now I have no idea what pricing will look like. Please, er, continue to stalk the thread to find out more about that. *laughs* ^_^;;;

As for a waiting list, I'm actually putting one together now! Should I put your name on it?

As for me, I've had some hardware problems. I'm so sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to post pictures tonight! Charisma is so very close to being finished anyhow, so assuming I can post pictures this weekend, the wait will hopefully be worthwhile!

As for making their lips, I recently put together an illustrated guide to lip sculpting. Unfortunately, however, it seems that trial and error is the best way to learn. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies! I hope to post important ordering information soon. It might be a bit out of order (you find out the ordering info before you see the dolls finished) but I figure there isn't any point waiting!

The first important bit of info is that the ordering date will be March 3.

This is the same day as Girls' Day (or Hina Matsuri), a Japanese festival, as well as Holi, an Indian festival (they both fall on the same day, March 3, this year!). As you'll see, both of these holidays will figure prominently in the dolls' characters!

So wish me luck -- I hope to post all of that info this week!

This is some information that I just posted in the News section! It includes everything I can say about the dolls so far, including how ordering is going to work!

~ ALL ABOUT THE DOLLS (Who and what inspired these dolls? Spoilers ahead!) ~

March 3 is a very special day this year. Two major holidays from different parts of Asia: Hina Matsuri and Holi, will both be celebrated on this same date this year. In honor of this occasion, Rarah Aevis will be presenting a series of four very limited dolls to celebrate the new spring season.

Flying Colors~
In India, one of the most important festivals is Holi, welcoming the spring. This celebration centers around a colorful game of tag. Friends and family wake up early, chase their near and dear ones, and throw colored powders and scented water on each other. Nobody is exempt from the fun! At the end of the day, everyone is covered with colors of every shade, just like the spring that's being welcomed!
In the myths and legends of India, there are two main patrons of this holiday: Krishna and Radha. It is said that in a picturesque forest, many years ago, this couple used to "play Holi". He would get all his friends together, she would get her friends together -- and with the girls' team and the boys' team would duke it out. Their mischievous games are said to be what is passed down to this day.

Flying Colors Késhav
In Indian myths, Krishna was a cowherd in his early life, a philosopher king in his later life, and a gutsy hero throughout. Késhav takes on Krishna's image from his younger years, when he was a carefree prankster, an awesome dancer and a dashing ladies' man. With a princely suit of silken embroidery and the ethereal blue skin that is the trademark of his namesake, he is an updated rendition of the enchanting hero.

Flying Colors Charisma
In Indian myths, Radha was a milkmaid whose friendship with Krishna grew into love as they grew older. Articulate and passionate, she singlemindedly defied the social conventions of the day so she could be with him. But she was equally sweet, caring, and playful. Here, Charisma plays the part of Radha in one of her joyful moods. With a soft and flowing dress set, she is like a flower in its first bloom.

Meiji Hina~
Every March 3, families all over Japan celebrate Girls Day, or Hina Matsuri, by displaying an elaborate set of dolls representing the Japanese imperial court. The prize of this set are the Emperor and Empress dolls...

~ ORDERING ~

This is our first ever doll release, and we want to devote our full attention to doing a wonderful job of each one. So, we will be making only 3 dolls of each of the four different types.

When to order: ordering starts on March 3, 2007, at 12:00 noon Central Standard Time (CST).

How to order:
1) Send an email to [email protected].
2) Please set the subject to "Order for [your DoA username]"
3) In the message, please include the following:
- Your full name
- Your DoA username
- Email prefer to be contacted at
- PayPal email address will be using
- Full mailing address
- Full name(s) of the dolls you'd like to order.
4) Hope for the best! ^_^;

Finding out who won:
1) First preference will be given to fitz, andarton, and glyndon, because they expressed an explicit interest earliest.
2) All other orders will be considered on a first-arrived-in-inbox-on-or-after 12:00 noon CST, first-served basis.
3) I (Sheila) should be able to get back to you in 48 hours, letting you know how it all turned out!

Two really important updates!
(Sorry I can't answer everyone individually yet -- laptop battery about to run out, eep!)

First of all, one of the releases has changed considerably!
Flying Colors Késhav will no longer be blue. His costume will be a dusty blue instead of gold ^-^. All sets will now be a head only and costume only.

Secondly, if you are planning to order any of the 4 sets, please vote in this poll!
