New Feature Introducing Doll Profiles

Love this feature!
It's so much fun to see all the dolls
thank you mods

is there any way we can see all the dolls we've "liked"?
oh and a suggestion! adding a tags section so that owners can add keywords to make their doll more easily found by the search feature (ex. my doll is a Megu so that's what I put as her sculpt but if someone searched "Four-sisters" or "F-01" then she wouldn't appear in their search, but a tags section would fix that)
scratch that, I must be blind because I just noticed that there is a tags section
I just can't figure out how to use it...

 

No suggestions on my end, I just wanted to pop in and give a HUGE thanks to the DoA Admin Team for this feature! I personally REALLY love having a way to organize my dolls in such a way and I'm looking forward to when we might be able to load more than 5 profiles in the future. So yes, just a big thank you from someone who really appreciates all the work that's gone into this

 

Has the number of profiles allowed been increased from five? I just saw someone with seven and I'm a little confused.

 

I don't have any feedback that hasn't already been suggested... so just a general thumbs up from me. Looking forward to the limit increase. I have 17 dolls so only picking 5 was rough.

 

It's too bad about the randomizer not being possible, but I understand it's better not to break the whole site for one feature haha. I have to say I would LOVE to comment on doll profiles, not only for compliments but to discuss the character and personalization of the doll but I feel it would be weird to PM someone about that out of the blue to ask a silly question about their dolls personality or something

 

It would be neat in the Character section to maybe have a space for a little blurb about the world or story that character is a part of, and maybe what other characters they're associated with. I realize that can all just go in the general about the character text field but it could be useful to have it separate? Overall really liking this feature though!! It's making it a whole lot easier to keep track of my dolls and their stuff.

 

@Dezarii I'm not sure... I'm trying to thing of a brief way to say "Story or world the character belongs to" but nothing is immediately coming to mind... some sort of Character Provinance... then maybe a World Overview field for a description of said story setting/world.

Thank you so much for creating this feature and for raising the limit! This is probably one of my favorite things that DoA has ever done. You guys are awesome!

 

Gotta say that I LOVE the Doll Profile feature! Being able to see such a range of dolls and their different styles is really helping me pin down the themes and styling for my resin crew. I'm definitely looking forward to some kind of 'favourites' collection as mentioned already by another forum member.

One thing though - I made a draft profile, saved it. Edited it, saved it again - and now it's totally disappeared. I'd only filled in basic info so far so it's actually no big problem, but I saw somebody else had had the same issue earlier in the thread and I just thought I'd mention that it's still cropping up. (I'm using Firefox/Win7 if that's of any relevance.)

 

@Dezarii I saved it and it gave me the 'Draft saved' message, then I went back to the main Doll Profiles page and started browsing some other people's profiles (I was looking at how best to fill in certain parts of the profile) When I went back to edit the draft a few minutes later (probably less than 15mins) it had vanished.

 

yay!! I have more than 30 dolls so 5 wasn't enough and I really couldn't choose :P

 

I'm trying to see what the system's limits are over here... I'm probably not going to do my entire tribe, but I do want to see how the forum handles and displays seriously silly numbers of dolls.

One observation so far... Apparently the "Dolls" tab on the Profile page has a set display limit. If you have more than that number, older entries on the list "fall off the page" so to speak rather than spawning a second page or some such. I'd call that a low priority bug given that the display limit is 50, and so very, very few people are likely to run into it... But, that's why I'm being a little ridiculous. It's good to know limits like that exist.

 

Great idea, DofA! I'll use this feature once I get my dolls more customized!

 

I can't seem to find the create profile button? Is it suppose to be at the bottom of the page in profiles?

I really love this feature! It's so fun to just browse through everyone's dolls It's probably my favorite part of the new site!

One thing though... I don't know if it has been mentioned (or if I'm posting in the correct spot), but it seems like the "unoa" tag isn't working for me. I posted profiles for my two chibis in the 20-39cm section, tried adding "unoa" to their tags multiple times. Every time I edit, it seems like everything is okay (no errors or anything) but the unoa tag doesn't show up. Other tags seem to work just fine.

So, I'm assuming, if you end up selling a doll you've profiled you can just delete?
And, if so, should you wait until it's actually sold, or as soon as you put up a sales thread?

Comments would be fun to have, but it's cool as is (just having Likes).

And, wow, I have too many dolls... hit the limit already, but it took a while to get 25 uploaded! Shows that I need some better photos of some of my dolls, too!

 

Treat it as you would a database entry, waiting until it's actually sold.

Maybe also it would help to put the "like" button into the bottom bar? Maybe in the center? (ie between "color options" and "home" - otherwise it could be easy to miss or look like content? Just an idea.

Hello, I've been trying to change the thumbnail photo for one of my doll profiles. I'm having trouble with it; I deleted the original thumbnail and tried to upload a new one, but when I do, even if I think it accepted my photo, when I upload, there's no photo, not even the old one I deleted. The photo is 165kb and 360x360 pixels. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it could be a bug. I'll try again later, maybe in a different browser.

Thank you for the quick response! 'Dalia Dalhart''s thumbnail on this page shows as just a grey camera icon crossed out for me. In her profile, she lacks a 'profile' tab as well. Do you see something different for her? Maybe something is up with my computer? Doll profiles from almyki | Den of Angels

I tried to change the profile image by deleting the old one and clicking the 'upload a file' button at the very bottom next to save and preview. I don't think the upload 'sticks' when I click the file I want though. I tried it with another doll I have in drafts and I have the same issue. I may try again on another computer when I have the chance.

I don't think I have myself listed as a profile? I only see my four dolls: Dalia, Candy, Byrne, and Stirling.

Wow, this feature is awesome (even though I should have seen this months ago)! Can't wait to make my dolls profiles! Even though i am having some trouble with my dolls characters, maybe this will help me!

What's the policy on off-topic doll profiles? I've been noticing a few pop up here and there that seem like they might be off-topic. I'm not 100% sure on which dolls are and aren't acceptable though so maybe I'm wrong! Is anyone moderating the profiles like they do the forum posts?

Hi there! Is there a tag for "guu doll"? When I made a profile today for my Guu Doll Verona I received an error stating the company tag didn't exist... but I'm wondering if it's under some other variation I didn't try.

Anyway, just wanted to ask/mention that here. (Apologies if I should've posted in the Ask the Mods section, instead.)

Did the file size for profile pics just change or just get strictly enforced? Just now, a picture I uploaded this morning was suddenly too large when I actually made the photo smaller, and the photos I'm trying to upload are below 800 pixels but they still won't take even though previous ones have apparently been well over 200KB.
