True but you could get a piece of elastic and cardstock with your phone number and tie it around they're wrist or get a plain shirt and a pet name tag with your info on it and sew it on it would make finding it a lot easier for someone who doesn't open up the doll
The other day, I stumbled over a Facebook post where someone had put their small dog into a mini tactical vest that's originally a beer cozy. First thought: Daaaaaang, that's doll-sized! So I went to Amazon and looked for thoses mini vests. Found them, ordered one, got it today and, yup, it's MSD-sized. It's a good enough fit for my slim mini and I guess it'll also fit FID, Raccoondoll and the fashiondoll-sized Dollshe guys. Not sure about the ladies but I'm waiting for a Raccoondoll lady and once she's here, I'll test on her whether that vest fits her, too. Anyways - neat find when you're trying to piece together a zombie apocalypse outfit for our doll(s).

I found a mini cabinet that came with two wooden bowls at a local consignment shop that's the perfect size for my mature tinies. One of my dolls is standing by it to show the scale. She's about 30cm tall. Perfect Scale
I just found this and it looks like it could work for either SDs or MSDs. That it pretty cool!! Now I wish my dolls weren't all set in medieval times Are you going to get one??
Such a cool find! I love both retro/vintage stuff and SD size dolls so this is really tempting. It even has little legs Are you getting one yourself?
I work at Michaels, and the kid-sized wings they were selling for Halloween fit my SD-13 boy perfectly.
Has anyone seen the mini brands surprise balls? I’ve found them at Walmart once and I regret not buying more because I haven’t seen them since. The little items are basically real brands but miniature size—perfect size for smaller dolls! I can’t say I ever thought much about “brand” items for my dolls, but these are just so cute. I got a little shopping basket in the ball I bought and it held the items and fit on my doll’s wrist perfectly. Has anyone else tried pairing some of these as “accessories” or a scene set up for their dolls?
Try checking online! My mom recently bought a whole bunch of those online. Regrettably, i have not taken any pictures with them and now they're all packed away because we're moving. I hope to once we're all settled though! They're definitely perfect size for smaller dolls
I love them, even if I didn't use them as props for dolls I would get them. Some of the miniatures aren't the right scale, but I just say they're the "Extra Value" size. so adorable! And I love using them to create "clutter" in my room box.
I saw them before Christmas, but then they only had the boys and unicorn squad ones. I'd like to get the shopping baskets.
I have a bunch of them! I kinda went nuts buying them when they were finally in stock again... but I still only have about half the collection (including a TON of Hormel Chilli ) They’re super cute props for dolls, there is a Facebook group specifically for doll collectors who buy/sell them! Of course there are always people out there who will take advantage of their limited availability and price gouge, but others aren’t out to profit, and it’s fun to trade duplicates Here are my Harucasting Maji and Bunny Nine Potpourri with some of them! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49278426382_e8ae51abe1_z.jpg
I bought one but I only have SD size so most were too small, though one bottle of lotion worked well as a ‘travel size’. They’re adorable and great for MSD or tinies depending on what you get!
You can find them on eBay or on Instagram if you search for 5surprise! A lot of times, people will sell lots of items or you can choose certain items that they have available (I bought like 3 from someone on ig) because finding the balls is kind of a pain lol! Def check eBay though!
I'm sloooowly starting to accumulate all sorts of props and accessories for my dolls from all sorts of places. It's so dang difficult to come across 1/3 scale props, one has to get creative to find some. This photo has quite a lot of them: - The sakura mochi, green tea, and saucer were from a Japanese eraser set - The noodle bowl was a ref magnet obtained from a Japan-imports shop - The soup spoon was from a miniature plastic tea set costing around $1.50 - The "tray" was supposed to be a wooden stand for small vases and plants - The teapot is a small yixing teapot (a cheap mass-produced slipcast) that I also use to brew tea in - Her earrings were human-sized jewelry repurposed for doll use 02 - Scorpion by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Off-topic Azone Picco Neemo dolls are the perfect size to be a "1/3 scale" doll for 1/4 scale dolls XD
Hello! Recently I went to Hobby Lobby, a craft and home goods store in the U.S. and discovered that they sell doll stands there! I've been looking into getting a doll stand for awhile but didn't want to pay $30+ for one. Luckily I was browsing the store and found some doll stands for a great price, and they come in different sizes! Brown Doll Stand - 7" | Hobby Lobby | 158188 I bought the largest one they have for my 60cm girl. It works pretty well but I do have her resting close to a wall. For the largest doll I wouldn't go past 62cm unless your dolls knees can lock in place, since my girl tends to buckle because of her single jointed knees. My partner also got a stand for his yoSD and it fits perfectly. His stand cost about $2.50 and the one for my 60cm girl was $3.50 or so. Hobby Lobby also sells doll shoes and some clothes. I'm pretty fond of their doll hats, which look like they would fit 40cm and 60cm+ dolls. I've also come across doll sized stuffed animals and pets there. They sell some intricate doll houses too but I'll admit I've never seen those up close since they keep them off the sales floor. After finding that stuff I knew I had to let others in the hobby know about it. I'm not sure if they ship to other countries, though. If anyone here has had some luck at some local craft stores please let me know! I'm always looking for things that can work for my dolls that I don't have to wait weeks or months for.
I find furniture that will work from time to time. But I also had to realize while an item or two will work for one, it may not for others. I have had to give away so many items I spent good money on. So just try to think ahead before you buy.
Often the benches, chairs and tables meant to hold potted plants or for garden decoration work well for dolls! It's usually best for 1/4, but I've found some that are good for 1/3. There are often jewelry boxes and cool decoration boxes that work as nightstands or dressers for dolls too.
A couple of days ago I found a really cute, fully functional lace parasol at Hobby Lobby for my 65cm girl. It was in the section for wedding decorations.
It wasn't exactly cheap for a prop...$15, I think? And I saw some at Michael's the next day, too, if that's a store that's closer to you.
Those stands are surprisingly sturdy! Mine broke on my way to my Vegas, but it survived an entire year of traveling and being tossed into my doll bag multiple times a week before that eventually happened. XD It passed the stress test as far as I'm concerned. That stand will definitely last you if you're just displaying your dolls, or ya know, not constantly taking it places. Once in a while will be fine. I haven't tried it myself, but around the holidays, there will be little wine sweaters and the other clothing for things that probably don't need clothing at craft stores. A few people in my local community will have dolls rocking the wine sweaters, and without them telling me, I probably wouldn't have guessed the sweater was for wine.
The wine sweaters work great, and they are easy to alter if the fit isn’t perfect. You can take a look at the sweater garlands too. Often those are actual doll sweaters glued to a hook. Just pick of the glue and you’re ready to go. You can find good props at the party decorations section too. Especially wedding decorations and baby shower favors. Think small champagne glasses and itty bitty prams. Garden centers have nice things too. The small benches and chairs someone else mentioned. And stuff to make centerpieces or tiny dioramas. Oh and dollar stores. The perfect place for cheap novelty items that work perfectly for dolls. And last but not least: check if your doll matches the scale of a major brand doll like barbie, american girl or sylvanian families. Not only can you buy the brand stuff, but small brands often mention if they are compatible with one of them.
Cross-posting this image I originally shared in this thread. One can never be too creative when it comes to searching for doll items, especially if you favor 1/3 sizes and up. Be it craft stores, the department store household decor section, or antique shops, you may be surprised at what you can find. - The sakura mochi, green tea, and saucer were from a Japanese eraser set - The noodle bowl was a ref magnet obtained from a Japan-imports shop - The soup spoon was from a miniature plastic tea set costing around $1.50 - The "tray" was supposed to be a wooden stand for small vases and plants - The teapot is a small yixing teapot (a cheap mass-produced slipcast) that I also use to brew tea in - Her earrings were human-sized jewelry repurposed for doll use 02 - Scorpion by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Not really a craft store but since wine sweaters were mentioned I'd like to mention there's also "tactical beer vests" (read: beer holders in the form of mini tactical vests) out there that are a good fit for 1/4 sized dolls (probably best for slim minis) and come in quite a few different colours.
At a fabric/craft store in México I found a bag full of acrylic eyes (Maybe 50 pairs) for around 1 usd, they're not the best but I can remove the iris and make custom ones!
So I had a nail appt today, which is very close to a thrift store I tend to visit. It was also Senior Discount day, and though I tell most people I'm barely 40 (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) I do qualify So in I trotted, gracefully, not like an old Mare, and proceeded to look for treasures. Now on most occasions, I might find a bit of goodies, but today! DANG HOWDY MABEL! I hit the jackpot and had to share with my DOA gang! I found all kinds of great fabrics for asst bits and pieces, A lounger Folding chair for when I insist on my kids catering to me on camping trips, a shirt for hubby ( Bribery for how much I spent) and...DRUM ROLL..A DOG FIGURINE for my girls because, well, they wanted a damn dog! He needs some love, some paint, but he's a perfect size and was 2.99! Found a Big Teddy Bear Figurine for cuddling with my Tiny that's arriving soon, again, like 2 bucks. but Then, THEN, I wheeled my cart around a corner and Lo and Behold, A WOODEN 2 SEATER BENCH! I died right there and went to heaven! Just kidding, I'm still alive, but I felt a tad light headed.. ANYWAY, I am sending my good Thrift Juju to all of you , GET THEE TO A THRIFT STORE! You guys are awesome! I need wine.... 0204201705 by Kimms.Kouture, on Flickr
That's a reallycute bench! I love the thrill you get when you find something awesome at the thrift shops (doll related or not ^_^)
Check antique stores too. A shop near my daughter has a doll section and I found a wonderful chair there.
This is the cutest thing I've read all day! I am so happy this made your day, I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!
I guess they would count as "props" because they aren't jointed as BJDs should, but some articulated animal figures are nicely to-scale for 65cm++ dolls. So if you want a cat, or some more unusual pets, Japanese figure stores are your best chance at landing one. The chubby Siamese-colored cat was bought at a local store and I couldn't find any online listings for it, so I'll just share the info for the others (sans the Nendoroid). - The wyvern-like critter on her shoulder is a Molten Tigrex (from the Monster Hunter franchise) articulated figure, released in the Revoltech Vulcanlog series. - The stubby snake is a Tsuchinoko figure from Sofubi Toy Box. - The marmalade munchkin cat is also from Sofubi Toy Box. They also released a pure white version. Note that all three were sold only on limited runs, so one has to get creative if you want to chase them down online. Ran into Ikea today to pick up some stuff I've been needing for a couple of months, and found the most amazing little keychains! (Modeled here by my MNF/Doll-Legend hybrid, Alphonse):
If anyone is in the market for 1/3+ sized furnature, it's currently a bit trendy to buy your pets "chairs"! Check out "pet furniture". Some are more proportionally strange than others, but something like this in an apropriate size could probably pass as a nice SD couch. They make all sorts of styles, including ones with real legs and a bit of height. I love finding stuff for my dolls, this is pretty much all I ever look for when I'm out and about. One of my favorite things to find is mini books! Theres a series of extra-mini pocket translation dictionaries I rarely find. They look like tomes for my smaller dolls. I'll have to grab a pic someday, i currently have 2!
I managed to snag this at Wilkos for 25p... I am very proud of not buying it when it was £4, 44.5cm tall She fits sitting with her knees slightly bent (not shown in this photo)
Umm... I just realised I never uploaded a bunch of other finds (These are 1 year old) Rocking Chair was found at a flea market The bag is the live-action Marry Poppins Merch from Primark- would probably look like a cute handbag for a 1/3, look like a luggage bag for 1/4 The backpack is from flying tiger The teapot is a collectable I also found at a flea market in London- I like the more unusual shape compared to the dolly tea-sets, I regret not buying random teacup and saucer sets even though they didn't match (One lady had a cute sherlock holmes themed set ) The pocket watch is a little large for her but might work better for a 1/3 size doll, bought it from a street vendor- it was originally a necklace.
Some fake flowers used for scrapbooking or millinery are usable as props, if you're in a pinch. The calla lilies were made of some cheap foam material, the purple flowers of silk, the hair flowers of felt, and all are workable for 1/3 scale. Welcoming Committee by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr EDIT (just so I won't double-post) If you've ever come across those travel-sized Chinese calligraphy sets, they could work for 65cm+ dolls. They're a tad too big for 1/3 (at least, for my taste). Likewise, some travel-size folding board games (specifically those for games like go or checkers) could be used as a jumbo game board by large dolls. I stumbled across this about a month ago, finally got around to posting it here. Bottle for scale. I found this for $10 at a secondhand shop. I'm not sure if it was originally intended as furniture for dolls (I'm not sure what else it might have been for, if not), but it works beautifully as a bench seat for two 1/3 dolls side by side! Only issue is that there's some water damage on the seat, right in front; I need to figure out what to do about that, or perhaps just make a small cushion to cover it. I'm very pleased with it though!
For the first time since the pandemic started, I had a chance to do a bit of thrift shopping at a couple of local shops. I ended up hitting the jackpot at one of them: a beautiful SD-sized bench, a SD sized dark wood-stained chair, and a couple decorative MSD sized side tables. I've gotten lucky and found several random chairs, beds, and even a functioning SD-sized dresser (one of these days I need to get some photos of them all). My bench find with a couple different sized SDs for scale reference: Canopy bed I found at the same place before the pandemic hit, with cat included for size reference (she's taken to it like it's her own to sleep on. I plan to change out the canopy curtains and bedding from what came with it when I get the materials and sew it, so I'm letting her use the original bedding on it for now): It'll either make for a large MSD bed, or a little love-nest seat for a couple SDs.
That bed is highly collectible! It looks like the original retired American Girl Doll Felicity bed, it even has all the linens! Your shopping finds always impress me.
The guys have new letter-opener swords! I'm very pleased with the rapier, in particular. I like the longsword hilt but it's a little too heavy to be held unassisted. But it came with a cool sheath so maybe I can make a belt for it.
I dont have pictures, but that brand of surprise toys 'mini brands' would be great I think for yosd-msd size dolls! If anyone has pics of their dolls next to that brand tag me so I can see!
I have a bunch of those but for some reason only uploaded two pictures... Here’s my Bunny Nine Potpourri (35cm) with some donuts I’ve also got one of my Harucasting Maji (MSD) with a jug of soy sauce over here https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49278426377_9271aa216b_c.jpg
lmao yeah I saw that they generally dont work out to being to scale the same. Giant mentos might be fun though!
So these have been gaining popularity where I live- A teaspoon charm that's supposed to attract money to your wallet (Yeah, Lucky coins aren't good enough anymore) Finally found a cute design that's about the right size!
I have a couple of suggestions and a question or those of you who have musical BJDs. The Teeny Tiny Turntable (Amazon) and the 25cm mini guitars (Amazon, AliExpress, Wish) are perfect for 1/4 BJDs and make amazing props. I've ordered a Marshall Mini Micro guitar amp which I'm hoping will work for my 1/3 boys. Now for my question - has anyone managed to find a 1/3 scale mini guitar, electric or acoustic? I think it would probably need to be between 30-35cm to work. The biggest I can find is a 25cm. I would love one (or two) for my collection. Stay safe.
I have had luck finding a 1/3 guitar on ebay. I had a Fender Stratocaster for awhile and it was really nice. It was like the one in this listing: Guitar Fender red stratocaster 1:3 scale + Display Stand gmp diecast | eBay Axe Heaven makes very high quality detailed replicas of celebrities' guitars too, though I think they may be closer to 1/4 scale.
If you want an acoustic, the guitar that American girl used to make looks pretty in scale with my 1/3 boys
It's also possible to have it 3D printed in the right dimensions, but the end product will take some work.
Popping in again with a find from the Container Store! They've got tiny totes which just happen to be almost exactly 1/4 scale. The look great in my minis' "basement" tiny totes by Jessicat P, on Flickr
