Haha ty, though mostly I just find tutorials and follow them. XD;;; The wig-making endeavor was really fun, if you're interested in a diy project for one of your dolls! I did it based on a video series by Nicolle's Dreams on youtube! And I have to say, Alpaca hair is the most amazing hair for dolls! So soft and so smooth and the perfect scale fibers for heads that small, I highly recommend it for everyone, if you have the time and energy/money to do it!

 

Actually I've been watching a bunch of wig making tutorials and tried making my first wig with really nice finely wefted alpaca but it is too thin and I need to add to it and re-do the part. I think this stuff is simply too fine and doesn't cover as well as something made thicker

 

Ohhh, yeah, I've seen where people have wefted alpaca hair! I also saw styles where people made wefts from the loose hair they'd bought and was considering doing that for my Narae, but decided to just go with the glue method. You can get it to cover well enough, it just takes a bit more then you might realize, which is why I went with unprocessed hair - you get more of it and it's cheaper then the cleaned/combed stuff. I think I was able to get the hair for Robin for...maybe around $10 on etsy? Something in that range. It was definitely worth it!

For the doll I'm getting the body for, I'm going to do something in Auburn with a sort of Gibson-girl style. Possibly braids? Some sort of updo, at the least.

i messaged them 2 weeks ago asking them how it was coming along. they said they were just making the free event head. messaged them again yesterday and they said they were just waiting on the event head and it would be shipped soon...i cannot believe it takes 2 weeks to make one basic doll head. jeeeeeezeeeee.

 

They probably do things in batches, and after what happened with Souldoll, where their casting company (probably a one man outfit) 's person got sick and was in hospital, I am starting to think these companies outsource this stuff.

 

Opened my doll body, and recorded a little box opening! if/when i post it ill link it here, as well as if i do a box opening thread.

I just got confirmation this morning that Impldoll has my order and production has begun!

 

Well Impldoll said it was too late for me to change anything as that order is finishing up (didn't know they changed the legs and I wanted what was shown on the site, but alas, it's fine because I think it still looks good) So I'm hoping in the next 2 weeks??

 

another week has passed and alas impldoll has not sent my package even though they said it would be "shipped very soon"
im hoping it gets sent before the holiday rush...

 

I worry about the Holliday rush as well. Hopefully all will be well.

In the mean time, I joined their Facebook event and ordered both the Lydia and the Dylan heads

 

I have a lydia head in grey incoming. I couldn't resist. Then the next day bought a grey idol body for her as well and will have a grey teno as its part of the event. I figure it won' get here until Jan or Feb. How's the wait been?

 

Well, people have fallen off the update waitlist wagon it seems. Nobody has posted sine September So it's hard to tell?? I knew mine would take far longer because I ordered through DDE. But prior to that, it seemed like people were getting their dolls in 2 months?? But if that is still the case, I don't know

 

I've been waiting 2 months now still not sent so I dunno

 

I ordered in August and again in September, but I knew that it would take a while because I ordered through DDE. But the last orders that were marked were June So here's a call out to ya'all to put in your dates if you received a doll since June/July please, those dates are awesome to check when you're waiting Helps with the waiting pain, LOL

 

I made an order for heads on Oct 25 and impldoll told me it would take 4-5 weeks to ship. We shall see.

 

That would be nice. I'd probably get the event heads faster than my full doll and bodies that I ordered in August/September! LOL.

 

I asked them a while ago how my order is going.. they said "very soon" and they just need to make the event head. they will ship. few weeks later still no shipping so I messaged them again...now they said that they can ship the doll body and one of the heads and send the other 2 heads septratly later. how long does it take to make a head. I dunno. do i wanna pay extra for shipping to send the rest later and ship my body now?

 

Well, after understanding what happened with Souldoll, maybe the casting company is separate for Impldoll as well. If so, it could be that they are doing everything in batches? And then Impldoll possibly does the painting of faceups and packaging of orders to ship along? I'm just guessing stuff like that could happen?? Anyway, I hope they can do that for you @jamie5m without charging you for extra shipping!?!?!

they said they would ship the stuff that is ready right away for me though for no extra charge to shipping so that's not too bad.

I asked Impldoll when my first order would ship and they said they planned to ship it out Dec 10-15. So if its true it would be 6.5 to 7 weeks from the date of ordering. Which isn't the 4-5 weeks that they originally said but it isn't bad either. We shall see. I might actually habe them for Christmas.

 

AHAHAHA Ugh. So the shipment finally landed in US ports, and I'm expected to get her on Monday. The day I leave at 10:00AM for a road trip for, four days, to Grandma's house, 6 hours away.

Looks like I'll need to tell my mom to keep an eye out, and then worry that she won't be able to get back to the Post Office in time to pick her up before they Return To Sender, after they can't get someone to sign for her at the door.

Maybe I'll call the post office and see what they say.

Edit: Ohh, looks like she'll show up on Friday, now! YAY!

yeah me too.. they said they would ship part of my order 3 days ago. still nothing. I'm getting really frustrated.

 

I have no reason to check, I haven't even been waiting two months yet...but it would be nice if he shipped lol
in all seriousness he's an OC and I haven't made an actual OC in several years, so it's extra exciting. Which is probably why I'm getting impatient.

Honestly, I don't know if the website updates, anyway. After they sent me my tracking number, it still showed "producting," so I stopped checking there.

Yeah, they sent me a tracking number by email. I'd been emailing them back and forth pretty regularly, and it took so long that they might have just figured it was easier to do it that way.

If you don't hear back from them around the few-months mark, I'd recommend sending a polite inquiry about the status, though hopefully you won't need to. Unfortunately, I had to ask for all of my updates first, they didn't offer them without me sending an email first. Sometimes multiple times.

I don't want to say they had bad service, though. My order had some unusual issues, and I think it just caused it to get lost in the shuffle sometimes. When I sent an email, they were almost always extremely prompt and very nice about their replies.

email them back asking if they've had a chance to get it sent yet. I had to do the same thing.

 

they told me they would ship the half of my order that is ready right away a while ago...i messaged them asking for a tracking number and now they said I have to wait another 5 days for them to ship....this is not a good first impression for buying from them...

I just got my order in! I tried to record a box opening, but my phone stopped recording halfway through...

Amusingly enough, instead of the Cloris head that was supposed to come with the order that I didn't really want to begin with, I got a free tiny to correspond with the later event they had after the one I'd ordered during! I didn't have much desire for one of their tinies, either, but I'll take it over another random floating head! I just need to decide what to do with the little guy!

Also HOLY MOLY, Dis gurl is THIC. She's SO MUCH HEAVIER then my Soom girl of the same size, I was shocked! Also, for those wondering, the Delf heads look a little small on this body then usual, but nothing extreme. Like the 45cm Fairyland dolls that had surprisingly small heads on mature bodies! And the resin match they did was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

But I suppose now that I've got my doll in, I'll hop over to a new thread? Since I'm no longer waiting, and I think once you get your doll, you're supposed to leave the thread, if I remember correctly.

How long does it take for them to normally cast just a head? I've never ordered from them befor so I'm just really curious

 

I really don't know? It seems like people get their orders pretty quickly, like less than 3 months when ordered directly. I sure hope I'll get my heads quickly (my fingers are crossed)

 

Me too, it's only been a month for me though. I'm hoping that the holidays don't make to many horrific delays.

 

I have a doll on order for 4 month, but through DDE, I also have another 2 bodies at 3 months from DDE, and finally, I ordered the two heads from the facebook event directly, but that was only 1 1/2 weeks ago. DDE gave me a waiting estimate of 4-6 months, so...I just gotta wait

 

Yeah, I've never order a bjd this time of year. I usually try to avoid it. Because of all the holidays and new years stuff. Messes with shipping and production.

With any luck both of us will get out lovely bjds soon.

 

its now officially been 2 months after the 3-4 weeks estimate they gave me. i messaged them a week ago and they said "it will be shipped within the next 5 days" still nothing. getting really aggravated that they keep making these false promises. if they need longer then just tell me instead of getting my hopes up and lying.

 

That is so weird. It seems like everyone else gets their dolls in less than 3 months! Ugh, hang in there, I guess (what choice is there?) And most of all, try to release the aggravation and don't let that get between you and your beautiful doll I'm so sorry this is happening to you

 

I wrote to them yeaterday, and they told me that my doll should ship befor the end of the month. Hopefully that's the truth and I luck out with it not getting gummed up in a holiday shipping fiasco.

 

I'm currently waiting for a normal pink Azalea head through Angelesque. Ordered back in September (27th, to be exact), so I'm looking at 2+ months so far. "it seems...everyone else gets their dolls in less than 3 months"? That might mean I might just get her in time for Christmas, or even early in the new year. Still, she wasn't actually meant to be home until next year. Her 'coming together' as another hybrid was to be my 2018 doll plans. She still can be, at this rate...

I'm a little over a month into my wait on my order through AC, and all these long wait stories in this thread just make it feel so much longer.

Just placed my order for an attempted-color-match no-horns Moon head (the email person was super-duper-nice in helping me figure all the things out). Time to set up a tent, make a Very Big Popcorn, and get ready for the loooooooong haul. X3

@clericriff , unfortunately, it usually takes much longer when going through a store, hopefully AC is faster than DDE!

 

I just got my tracking number for my heads. I am very excited to move on to the compulsively checking the tracking updates.

 

Awesome, @Reslie ! It looks like we ordered on the same day... Did they email you? I ordered via email, so it was never associated with my account. Thus I have no way to know if it was shipped unless they email me

 

I ordered though facebook messenger. I always ask how long things take so I have an idea of the wait and can ask when it gets closer to just check in. I was sent a tracking number via Facebook messenger.
