Impldoll Waiting Room v3!

Jun 10, 2015

    1. yay! i picked the fantasy karena head because they wouldnt let me choose the new hannah head haha :)

    2. I went with either Tank or Glenn. I let them pick XD
I could use Tank for a number of things, but I am fascinated by Glenn's face. Not sure what I'd do with him, but he would be fun to faceup.

    3. @VampireAngel13 I've been very keen for a Glenn so please, update with pics if you get him.

I'm flip flopping on whether I want to get this event or not. I've been hankering after both Acorn and Avery and this is the first time I'll be able to get both in one fell swoop. What is the average wait time for IMPLdoll at this point? How long must I yeeeeearn?

    4. I gave in to my weaker self and bought a Tank, along with jointed hands and an Avery, on layaway! I'm at 200/600$ and hoping to pay him off by the beginning of next year! Bless their layaway option, really...

    5. Congratulations @Mayhem ! Tank is so cute!

      • x 1
    6. @Mayhem Aww Yiss, Tank with jointed handddddsssss! Avery's so precious, I can't wait for snaps.

      • x 1
    7. @A Wee Tiefling Ahh, thanks!! The jointed hands are very important to my Tank (and his daughter, my Dikadoll Monica, who'll get an Impl set eventually...) since she speaks in sign language and he picked it up from her. (She's not deaf, though, so him signing is superfluous but adorable.)

    8. @Mayhem That is an adorable use of jointed hands! Does impldoll make female or male size jointed hands? I didn't see any on their site?

I ended up buying some from Resinsoul. I figured I could blush them to fit the resin:eusa_pray. That is if I have the right colors available! LOL

    9. @IngieBee Oh, woops, look like I miss-remembered! Impl has ones for 70cm males. I thought there was a company on AC that had 1/4 hands for like 50-60$ and that they were Impl, but apparently not? So she will get hands from Resinsoul instead! :XD: Maybe when I get my Bei...

For the curious - Dikadoll, DollLegend and RS all have 1/4 jointed hands~

    10. Resinsoul has gotten very good reviews on their jointed hands, and they are by far the cheapest too. I just know the resin won't match, but it's a small item to blush, so hopefully I can make it work :)

    11. @IngieBee both Impl and Resinsoul do resin matching though, so you shouldn't have a problem

    12. @A Wee Tiefling really? Well, shoot, I didn't ask for that, just bought them per their colors, LOL. Oh well, no biggy

    13. I hope more people are able to catch that event! I cant wait to see everyones stuff.

Since my body has been paid off, i think i might send DDE and email about the order progress soon. I promised myself id wait till early november before asking, so i dont drive myself crazy, but i think asking soon and then maybe again in december will be enough to satisfy my curiosity until it ships!

Also, i think ive finally come up with a character idea for this doll that might stick. Its just a shy person who likes sweaters and scarves and has medium length curly hair. Ill hold off on most of it until i have the full doll in my hands, though! Luckily i just won and MSD sized scarf in a giveaway, so ive got one foot in the door already! :D

    14. @theWK please post here what they say ;) My order is probably with yours then ;)

    15. @theWK I'm trying to make this my Xmas present to myself. I don't know who I want to order through. I need to find clothes to fit an Idol man that look relatively stylish

    16. They say they havent had any updates from Impldoll, so theyre pretty much just waiting on Impldoll to ship the order out. It'll still be the same wait, late december or january!

    17. Alas, that's what I figured :(

    18. I kind of understand why it might be hard to get updates from them right now. I realized today that its monsoon season over there, so its probably more difficult than usual to get good casting done right now. I wouldnt be surprised if our orders (and many peoples orders from other companies) get delayed a bit because of the poor weather conditions, and all the holiday events.
The antsyness of waiting is starting to set in, but i feel like ill be happier waiting a little longer for a body with no casting issues than get it sooner and possibly have something go wrong later on, especially with my first bjd, i dont want to be even more overwhelmed than i will be already :'D
Still wont make the wait easier, though!

      • x 1
    19. LOL, That actually makes me more nervous, @theWK ! But I'm sure they have decent quality control. I was always under the impression that the monsoon season was more of an issue for faceups. I didn't know it could affect the resin, UGH!

    20. yeah if the humidity is too high, it can make more bubbles form in resin. im sure theyre very used to it by now though, it might just take them some extra work and time to get perfect products out!

    21. SO MY ORDER ARRIVED TO DDE TODAY UNEXPECTEDLY TWO MONTHS EARLY? im so shocked and thrilled!!! Hopefully someone elses things also came in that order!!!!

      • x 1
    22. @theWK Oh my gosh!!! Did they write you? Wow, I wonder if my order is with yours? I ordered just before you did on one order, and just after on my layaway order. Now I'm going to be on pins and needles waiting to hear from them!!

    23. They wrote me yesterday around three EST to say its in, and this morning to say theyre shipping it out later today! Let us know if yours comes in early too!

    24. Aw shucks, no email yet :( LOL so probably mine will come in later. I do have a faceup included in mine :(

    25. im wondering if someone might have cancelled their layaway, and they just passed the doll down to me cause i was the next person in line for it? who knows. a few days ago they didnt have any update from impldoll about the order!
Im rooting for yours to show up ahead of schedule, too!

    26. Thanks, make sure you post lots of pictures! Who's head will you be putting on his body? I hope you get a fantastic match! I have two other bodies coming for Fairyland heads (fingers crossed that it matches some!)

    27. I have a 5StarDoll Mu Ran head ive been modding for the body, i heard they have a pretty close resin match! The head is a little older, but i dont think its really yellowed. I cant wait to stick it on a body!!! Ill probably make a box opening video, and put up a little thread in the box opening thread :D (and probably a picture or two here!)

    28. Oh, he is so CUTE! That will be an adorable boy!

    29. Just added myself. I ordered a Hannah head, an iris head and a Joshua head. Impl said 4-6 weeks, but it’s looking longer...

    30. Well, I was hoping to get notification from DDE since theWK got an early notice, but I don't think I'll be lucky :(

Oh well, I've finished 2 months, so per DDE's estimate, I only have 2-4 months more to go! :doh LOL. I don't think I could have done this when I was younger. I didn't have the patience!

    31. You know, I sit here thinking I haven't had a longer wait like this in a long time...But I ordered twice from Dollzone in the last year. And that's a 6+ month wait if you're lucky lol. So. I guess I can be patient. But my Dollzone orders were randoms, my impl order is an OC I really want to try out as a doll, so it seems way more important somehow. Thus I am that much more impatient. Lol

    32. These impldolls seem to go out in 2.5 months unless you buy from a dealer? How long ago did you order, @VampireAngel13 ?

    33. mid October I think

    34. Directly from impl? I bought through DDE so it'll be a lot longer most likely than buying direct. But there is a substantial savings in shipping costs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    35. I ordered my tan Joshua today through alice collections. I am so excited about him. He's the first doll that I had an idea of a character and went looking for a sculpt instead of the other way around. Fingers crossed he won't take too long to get here.

    36. Congratulations, @clericriff I really think Impldoll makes awesome boys! Joshua is a real cutie! what color did you get him in?

    37. I ordered him in tan, so I'm excited to see how his face up looks on a darker resin than the company pictures.

    38. yep! Directly from Impl.

I should probably subscribe to this thread so I know what's going on and it doesn't take me 72 days to reply....

    39. My doll body arrived this past friday, but i havent been able to open it yet! i was away at a convention when it showed up, had to drive a friend home out of state which took all day yesterday, and had class all day today. no time to record! ill hopefully be doing it tomorrow, and poking around with the video.

    40. Oh my goodness! That would drive me bonkers knowing that my doll is waiting for ME rather than me waiting for my doll! LOL. Poor thing, @theWK. I sure hope you can open it tomorrow :D

      Anyway, congratulations!

    41. I'm suck an impatient person. I've been waiting two weeks since I ordered my impldoll Hannah head and I am going nuts waiting. :XD: I've seen some people post photos that they've gotten theirs already (on Facebook I think).... But it is really early, considering it was only released not too long ago. I hope it doesn't take too much longer... I have a body in mind for the head. but I need to see if the resin will match.

    42. What colour did you get yours in? I’m also waiting for a hannah head!

    43. I just realized I'm at 3 full months today. I have up to 3 more months according to Denver Doll Emporium :( I don't know why Impldoll would be that much slower to send dolls to dealers?? I hope I hear from DDE soon :eusa_pray

    44. omg me too. i ordered a body and then once i saw the hannah head release i added it to my order...been over a month. im being super impatient but i want it!! lol

      • x 1
    45. Alas, neither patience nor impatient will bring the dolls home any faster :huh?:. 'tis a suffering we all seem to be addicted to. For as soon as the shipping and arrival releases us from the pain, we overwhelmingly dive Right back into the waiting room again as soon as funds allow it. LOL

    46. I just placed my order for Trista! I'm really excited - I've been eyeing her for over a year now and with the new event, I just couldn't resist any longer.

    47. Congratulations, @plumandplume :) she is amazing! Will you have impl do the faceup and body blushing? What a cool doll!

    48. I placed an order today for Gia and Aimee through Angelesque (my first BJDs!). I hope the wait won't be too long :atremblin

    49. Congratulations, @catghost87 , did you order direct?

    50. Thank you @IngieBee, I ordered through one of their agents, Angelesque, so I'm unsure of how long the wait will be.

    51. Denver Doll Emporium said it would be 4-6 months, and I just hope they were over estimating it to under promise and over deliver! LOL. Directly, apparently, it only takes 2 months or so, though nobody has updated the waitlist in a while (hint hint people, LOL)

I'm waiting until December 10 to ask for a status, that's 4 months for me.... :atremblin I want my dolly!! :...(

    52. I finally got my tracking number today! :dance Barring any unforseen circumstances with shipping, or with the order being wrong, my wait is finally coming to an end!!! AHHHHHHH!

Now to go try and figure out how to update the waiting room wiki...>m>

    53. Congrats, @hellsingmongrel :D I hope it arrives quickly and safely... maybe the other way around??

    54. TY! :XD: TBH, I'll be happy if it arrives in either combination of the two. I'm just glad that the wait is finally over, it's been almost a full year, and I was starting to go batty!

Now that she's finally getting a body, the job of repainting my Lu-Wen head and sewing her some proper Victorian lady-clothes can finally begin.

This is only the beginning...! :?

    55. Wait, @hellsingmongrel , you're not saying that the body took a whole year to get to you, are you? I think I'll faint! LOL. Oh, I think you're saying your Lu-Wen has been without a body for a year?? Actually, please post pictures when he comes because I have two bodies coming in for my old luts heads or else my Fairyland heads, depending who wants them :P And I'd love to see how it matches to today's luts resin. That is if you got NS? Thanks :D And again, congratulations :D

    56. No, the body has in fact taken almost a year. I've had the Lu-Wen for a few years, now, and was finally able to get a body for her. There were problems with the order, after the color samples I sent got lost in the mail or "return to sendered" for unknown reasons for 6 months. At that point, I decided to do some internet sleuthing and grabbing screenshots to compare colors in MS Paint to try and figure out the right pantone color, which I finally was able to send to them in email. After that, they had some problems getting the color right in casting, apparently. They were always pretty good about giving me updates when I asked for them, but it did take a while, so...*_* I think it was just a case of really bad postal luck and the fact that resin color matching can be kind of tricky.

I plan on totally taking tons of photos! I ordered a Star body with the medium bust, and the custom color was to try and resin match to the now old and now understandably slightly yellowed head (though thinking back on it, I probably should have color matched her a little more red, so that the body would yellow to match it over time? But it's not that big of a deal to me, tbh.)

I'm not quite sure what color the head is? I know it's not white, but it was purchased second-hand at the local doll shop for $20, and I'd wanted a Shiwoo for so long that when I found a headsculpt that was so close to it for such a good price, I was like "GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!" I didn't know who or what I wanted it to be, so I decided to make it a practice head-painting dummy, but when I finished painting it's first face-up, with bold purple and blue eyeshadow and dramatic lipstick, I was like "OH. I KNOW WHO YOU ARE, NOW. YOU ARE A GIRL AND YOU ARE DONE!"

Years later, After finding a wig for her and just admiring her as a disembodied head for a number of years, the sealant is a little chipped and she's looking a little dusty, and no self-respecting, high-class Victorian lady would dare be seen with make-up on, so I figure it's time for a repaint, now.

    57. Wow, that was unfortunate! I sure hope it all works out beautifully in the end! She sounds like she will be lovely. I love natural faceups. Most of my mini dolls are like that, I'm sort of going for the "make up" look now with the SDs which will be nice in a different sort of way :)

    58. Yeah, it was boggling for a while! But hey, it's nearing the end of my wait, and that's what matters to me! :V

I usually do more natural/realistic faceups, too, but there's something about those high-fantasy faces that just give me starry eyes irl, and I was trying to go for something like that at the time. It doesn't fit with the character, so I'll just have to use another head as my fantasy guinea pig, I guess. Luckily, I ordered in an event period last December, so I should have a blank Cloris head coming with the body that I have no real use for, so maybe I'll just use her. She's not really the type of doll I would normally go for (something about her makes me :nowords:, I'm not sure what it is) but I know face-ups can do wonderful things, if you know what you're doing, so we'll see how that goes!

ETA: Ooooh man, now I remembered I need to actually make her a proper Victorian wig, too! Hhhhhh...time to start looking on Etsy for Auburn Alpaca fibers. :|

And lotion. Lots of lotion. Washing and processing the fibers for when I made my Narae's cyan-colored wig washed all of the oils right out of my skin!
