Impldoll Waiting Room v3!

Jun 10, 2015

    1. @theWK and @IngieBee thank you both! She's still being held by customs unfortunately. Impl marked the value down to $16, despite me asking for it to be at least $100. $16 on a box holding an idol sized doll just isn't going to look right, so I hope this doesn't cause any issues. UK customs are slow though, so maybe once they look at it they'll just let it go!

    2. Hopefully UK customs is stupid as well as slow - or lazy, LOL

    3. Still waiting on a Glenn that I ordered during an event in June, and also a free Colby. I'm getting anxious because I'm shelling him into a youtube character and I just want to customize him already!

    4. One of my orders was 2 dolls in a massive box and marked down, so customs just waved it by. They took a good week or so to process it which had me worried though. I was concerned thinking "the box size will no way not flag their interest!" but go figure. Fingers crossed they wave it through, otherwise prepare to give them reciepts.

Btw, last year they had an anniversary event about now right? Think we'll get one as awesome this year? Last year's was incredible with the free doll deal, I just didn't have the money to take advantage of it at the time.

    5. FREE DOLL??? LOL, I get too excited, must calm down... I keep wondering if I even get any goodies when ordering from DDE?

    6. Whoop! The parcel has left customs with no charge from what I can see. Now to wait for a delivery and see how Impl have worked with my custom request. I'll post in the discussion thread depending on what I'm presented with on arrival.

    7. Don't forget to do a box opening, LOL, and which thread will you be on?

    8. I just got a tracking number for my Glenn and he should be here tomorrow! Must've sent him out last week before the holiday.

      • x 2
    9. Awesome! Congratulations! He has so much personality, I hope you post a lot of pictures!

    10. YAY thank goodness for customs ignoring the box! what a relief.
Did you purchase direct from Impl?

    11. Good news: I got my Glenn today! Weird news: I also seem to have gotten a mystery blank 65cm boy that I certainly didn't order. Is it possible to send him back to the dealer? Or am I stuck with him? Don't get me wrong I like him but I didn't order him.

    12. My custom resin Vanessa on the idol body arrived today and I am absolutely in awe. She's beyond anything I'd hoped for! I'll post a quick picture in the discussion thread in a mo!

      • x 1
    13. Yes please, pictures everyone :)

    14. random surprise doll? I'd contact the dealer and ask what's up. Maybe you got someone else's order?

    15. I contacted the dealer so all I've gotta do now is wait for a reply.

    16. Whee, I woke up to a shipping notice for my Nicolas! That made today a lot easier. Now I'm just hoping I don't get slapped by customs. Buying dolls was so much easier when I lived in the States, I really took it for granted...

      • x 1
    17. Yah, I agree, after hearing everyone always complaining about custom charges, it's really nice we somehow still have it simple in the states. I'm just waiting for it to all end, ugh.

    18. @beatnik @paxambabes congratulations on your orders arriving, and @Havra congrats on the shipping notice!!! Im glad to hear everything got to you guys safely. I cant believe you got a bonus doll though, ive heard of that happening very rarely, i wonder if theyll have you send it back or just have you keep it? I cant imagine what the shipping cost back to them might be for you. What sculpt did they send you?

    19. It was someone else's doll so I sent it out to them today. Once I get my boy customized I'll post him in the discussion thread!

    20. That's super nice of you @paxambabes! I'm sure that other person was anxiously awaiting their doll :D

      • x 1
    21. That was kind and honest of you, hope the dealer was grateful.

And ooo yay more stuff on the way! that clear red girl looks AMAZING.

I'm waiting... to order lol. That's kinda waiting right? I'm getting impatient though.

    22. I've hit the two week mark. DDE said it would take up to 6 months, so I brought my fold out bed, my favorite pillow and blanket, my mini-fridge, laptop and portable TV .. oh yah, my microwave too, and boxes upon boxes of popcorn!

I might as well wait in comfort. I got Netflix, what do you guys wanna watch?

Oh, BTW, Now I've bought more floating heads and I am thinking of putting them on the model body, LOL. I am insanity incarnate.

I'm watching a lot of doll opening videos, and I'm wondering if I'll is still sending out doll carriers with their dolls? That would be so cool!!!

    23. ive been wondering the same thing! ive been hard pressed to find any kind of unboxing videos of an impldoll young recently, so it might be a total surprise what the box will look like when my body gets here!

A carrying case would be SO amazing though. Maybe someone in this thread will get one?

      • x 1
    24. Yah, I'm really hoping they do. I have mini dolls that I got fur lined flute case. Covers as doll bags. They're barely big enough for Iplehouse JID dolls, but work well and are great for all my other mini dolls. But what kind of bag would work for SD size, I wonder? Clarinets get wider, but not long enough, LOL

    25. Ive been dreaming of using an old repurposed violin/viola case to transport my doll in the future! If i can find one that maybe has some damage to the inside, id love to do that. Otherwise, i may peek around at carrying cases offered by other companies! Theres a lot of nice ones out there.

    26. I'm about to hit the order button at DDE for 2 model doll bodies for an old CP Luts head and a newish fairyland head. They were once the same color but the cp/ Luts head has yellowed a wee bit. So I am ordering a real skin and a pink skin, but I hesitate because I don't really know which to choose!!!

OK, I'm in the waiting room for another extension. I just put an order in for 2 model bodies in pink. That's 3 floating heads covered, one to go! I think that will be another Supiadoll and I am finished! No more dollies... Oh, except for that.......pretty..... and that handsome.....

    27. Hmm, so it's friday and still no word from impl. I wonder if all those new heads they've been showing off are related to their anniversary. Still, i'm getting impatient. I wanna order Trista *whines* we got a tax rebate so I have the money now and nghhhh.

re: carrying cases. Resinsoul sends their dolls with little leatherette cases. One of those with some padding inside would probably work. The small ones are excellent for carrying minis but the big ones are quite... large. Maybe a laptop case? Might be too small for an sd though. Hmmm. Some sort of long not too narrow instrument case? Violin might be too bulky but certainly the hard outer case would be good for protection.

    28. I have my second layaway payment coming up in a few days, and im both excited and dreading it. on one hand, ill be that much closer to having paid off my doll! its a good feeling knowing ill finally have a body for my poor lonely head. after over a year having it, ill finally have a complete doll, and be able to really do something in the hobby!

on the other hand, there goes more of my money. i cant help but think of all the other things i could be saving it for. thats just part of having a constant guilty conscience about spending money on myself, i guess. im a very frugal person in general, and its typically really hard for me to justify spending money on myself outside of food or convention merch. Ive saved plenty for my upcoming convention, but i dont think its a feeling ill ever be able to shake.

Either way, in a few days ill be another payment closer to my msd body, and soon ill hopefully start making things in preparation for when it arrives. I have a wishlist of clothing going, but itll be a while before i can budget in buying any of it. I guess ill be trying a bit of sewing (or trying to convince a friend to make the poor piece of resin a pair of pajamas!)

Are you guys typically excited or bummed out when your layaway payments come around? i hope im not the only one with mixed emotions..

    29. I really like the resinsoul cases ive seen people get in their box openings! They seem like theyre pretty nice, too. If i do buy an "official" bjd carrying case, itll probably be from them or a random brand, whoevers' i like at the time.

I honestly wouldnt mind the bulkiness of a violin case, i used to play so im not a stranger to carrying one, it might feel cool to carry one around again to a meetup or something (i would feel so fancy, maybe id get my doll a violin and case to match..) Plus with all the space, it would be able to carry multiple dolls and/or supplies, clothes, and other things inside as long as its all padded nicely!

    30. I have a doll scale violin somewhere, it having a case was one of the selling points lol. And a little bow.
I love miniatures so dolly instruments are just wonderful.

I get what you mean about the spend guilt. I get that ALL the dang time.
One of the main reasons I havn't gotten around to buying this impldoll in a year is that every time I save up the money I sort of... freeze. The cost is just so much more than any other MSD I own (they're all rs lol) and it terrifies me. "what if I don't like her?" "what if I then can't sell her?" "Should I really be spending nearly £300 on a DOLL?" and so on.
My nagging brain tells me i'm not worth it, that i'm being silly and over spending, that I should be saving for more practical things.
the only way i've found to ease the worst of that is to have a very clear separation between family household money and "buy ridiculous things" money. Every month a small amount goes into my account and that's what my paypal, my amazon, all my "impulse purchase" accounts are attached to. Anything that's not practical that I want (so er.. dolls) has to come out of that money.
And while it helps a little bit, I STILL get the paralyzing "I can't do this" when I go to click "buy"
I agonise, it can take me days to work up the courage to click "buy" even on £100, but i'm slowly getting more and more used to the idea of spending more on less because bjds do give me better value for money than my other dolls who I get, open, look at them put on a shelf and pretty much forget about.
And i'm consoling myself that the price of playline dolls has become ridiculous (£20- 25 is the average price for a regular fashion doll now, wth?) and you're really not getting value for money.

And i'm doing better. I mean, 2 years ago the idea of spending more than £50 on a single doll made me hurt inside. I just could not justify it.
A year before that I had to argue with myself to spend more than £30!
Right now the limit I feel comfortable with it about £180. Anything over that and I start getting jittery. Especially if there's a long wait as well and especially once i start thinking about outfits and wigs and eyes which all add up fast.

My mother FINALLY agreed to sew some clothes for me, but it took comissioning outfits for like 6 dolls before she agreed to help. *sigh* It'd save me sooooo much money.
I'll pay her in wine lol.

But yeah, the spend guilt. I keep a strict wishlist for a reason, it's to stop me getting overwhelmed but also so I can cost things.
I did a quick cost up last night and everything on my wishlist except the discontinued LE? It's about 3k
      OUCH
And of course my brain goes "okay, what else could you spend that on?"

If I spend absolutely nothing in a year and just saved, i'd have £900
but that's not actually realistic as I have birthday and christmas gifts to buy for other half as well so it's more like £700-800. So it's gonna take me a while to get these dollies.
Still, there's birthday and christmas money right? Which helps.
That's what I put toward my last two dolls. The second time I saved up the £300 for trista (oops)
this is the third time i've saved up that money. THIRD TIME! So it's not like I can't save, I just... I feel guilty spending that much in one transaction and then I buy other, cheaper things instead and blow it on lots of little things.

    31. @purple_monkfish I wish I were more like you! I've been on a horrible binge because I haven't bought a doll in years, then one day I couldn't stand looking at my floating head anymore and came back to DoA to find her a body and ended up buying 3 more heads and needing 3 more bodies! And now I have a whole new list of wanna have and an entire imple Alma on the way! Just shoot me now, honestly!

    32. haha if I had the disposable income, i'd do that too.

Heck, it's taking all I have not to blow this cash on an order from RS but impl said they'd have an even t in october so I gotta wait... and hope its a good one. I suspect it may involve all those new heads, which will be interesting. They've been super busy with new heads.

    33. I don't really. I had savings and am blowing it in an uncontrolled fashion, ugh.

Ooooh, so quiet here. On the 3rd, my order at DDE will be one month old, LOL. So is anyone else waiting on an order through DDE in an earlier order? Maybe with valuable Intel, like how long it took to get your doll? LOL, I'm not impatient, honest!

    34. I contacted DDE the other day about paying off my layaway early, and i just did it today! No more payments for me for this body! Now i just have to wait for it to arrive. I brought up holding onto the package until after the holidays if it arrives around that time, and they agreed to do so. If it doesnt arrive at the very beginning of their expected dates, ill be waiting until the middle of january for my package. I say now that ill be fine with it, but we'll see how im handling the wait once new years passes!

    35. @theWK , could you please share when you ordered and when they expect it to arrive? I'm curious as I also have bodies and a full doll on order since August 10 and a week later or so. I just realized I am approaching the two month mark. In all honesty, time is going really fast. Thank goodness I won an auction and had two dolls come in. They are keeping me busy while I wait :)

    36. Just ordered my impldoll today and im like already sick of waiting hahaha. :)

    37. Yeah, of course!
I placed the order initially on August 27th, but it actually went through on the 30th (my name was misspelled in my email for the invoice, it happens more often than not so it was no fault of DDE's) So thats when they placed the order for my body or added it to whatever bulk order they had, and when they sent the first invoice. They told me in that email that the wait would be 16-20 weeks for the order to arrive in Denver, so that would pin it between December 18th and January 15th. Since we ordered in the same month, maybe ours will come around the same time!

    38. Thank you, @theWK :XD: ugh, it's gonna be a long wait! LOL

    39. Yeah, I've been waiting over 5 months for my doll, and that's not counting the about 6 months I'd waited before that for them to receive the color sample after I did the initial order last year, so the wait will probably be a long time.

I'm trying to decide if I should wait until the 2 month mark since I last emailed them to ask again, which was about 6 or 7 weeks ago. They'd told me at that time that they expected to ship her out in 2 or 3 weeks. At this point, I'm getting a little cranky, even though I'm trying not to.

It doesn't make me feel any better when I see that most people seem to have a two-month turnaround...? :sigh

    40. Sorry it took me so so long to respond to this, thank you for sharing. It makes me feel a little better to know theres people struggling with the same thing as me and slowly getting past it. I, fortunately, dont have any bills i need to set money aside for, but having a specific little savings set aside for hobby things is a good idea. Ive had a jar as a piggybank for saving up for a specific artist sculpt BJD for almost a year now, but i keep dipping into it because more important things come up, even though i put money in it so rarely and its so hard for me to justify it.

I guess i just have to work it out with myself. my income changes drastically depending on what i produce but ill have some new stuff out soon and a convention where im tabling so maybe if i make enough, some of that money can go to a doll for myself! Ill probably still feel guilty for... a very long time. but hopefully soon itll be easier to spend some money on things that make me happy. (starting with some clothes for this doll body, whee!)

    41. I would write them at a minimum every two weeks. You've been more than patient!

@theWK I know how it is. I've been gone for at least 4 years not buying anything because I couldn't, and being tempted was awful, and endangered me! I mean, look at me, I've lost control. I was only going to buy one doll body, and now I've got tons of things on order! All because i managed to save a little money, now I've spent it all, very stupid! Still, I didn't hurt anything, so it should be OK. I have a bit of income now. I hope your situation will calm down a bit too. Life is often going from tight to plenty, and if you've worked hard for it, and it's a good time, enjoy a little bit of a reward, you DO deserve it. But being responsible is most important, especially if others depend on you. ::hugs::

    42. Hi everyone :) I just fixed up the wait lists wiki from the first post, and am amazed how that works! Quite brilliant! Anyways, I added my order to it and added missing months to the list. Please add your order so we can watch stuff come in and how long it takes :) Just find your month, choose "Edit" then make a space in front of / in back of / next to the spot where your purchase fits by date and answer these questions as succinctly as you can:

Order date username - size (if applicable) sculpt, resin, body, faceup, extras, LA/PO(if applicable) SHIPPED ARRIVED

Just copy and paste the format everyone else used and change the info to your info. Three ' means to bold the word within, like this '''bold'''. Have fun!!!

    43. Should we wait until our orders arrive to fill it out and have it complete, or should we fill out what we have now and then go back later when out orders arrive and finish it?

    44. Well, I know a long time ago we used to fill them out as we ordered? I filled in my orders?

    45. Added my order to the Wiki! Looks like I'm in for a real wait *dies*
That'll give me time to.....I don't really know what. I can't do much to him until he has a body lol

    46. I find, with these long agonizing waits, it is therapeutic to wail, howl and cry while throwing myself on the ground flailing my arms and legs. It's also good exercise for the body and the lungs :D

      • x 1
    47. LOL I may try that in a couple months when I'm over waiting!!

      • x 1
    48. I finally ordered my Impldoll Avery on DDE after wanting him for a year! DDE has said that it should take about 20 weeks

    49. Congratulations!!! Hopefully those 20 weeks fly by!

      • x 1
    50. Yah, they said the same for my order which is 2 months old now. But that doesn't stop me from checking my email 3-23 times a day, hoping to get a shipping notice :...(

      • x 2
    51. how long does processing usually take? i ordered about a month ago now :)

    52. @jamie5m it depends. It looks like just over 2 months if you order directly and I simply don't know if DDE exaggerates the time when you order through them or if it really does take that much longer. They estimated 4-6 months with my order. Why order through DDE? Well, if you live in the USA, the difference in shipping is significant. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    53. oh i live in canada, so i just ordered though the impldoll site. shipping always hurts to get to me hahaha

      • x 1
    54. Woo. Yet again I order right before an event starts. That is literally every time I order anything ever.

    55. Ugh, @VampireAngel13 , that's a bummer . At least my order was 2 months ago, so knowing it's further along makes up for missing out :shuddersort of, LOL

    56. i actually messaged them and asked if my order would still count for the event since i ordered right before it too and they said yes and added my event items to my order! doesnt hurt to ask them :)

      • x 1
    57. And you ordered about a month ago? huh...maybe I will ask!

EDIT: Ok I asked. It won't be the end of the world if I don't get a free head, but it would be nice!

    58. I'm in the waiting list, I ordered an Impldoll Ives through Alice's Collections nearly two weeks ago. Mine said 1-3 months waiting time, which isn't so bad....fingers crossed it's sooner over later.

    59. Thanks @IngieBee ! They said I could be in the event! Now I have to pick a head D: I have no idea which one I want!
