Impldoll Waiting Room v3!

Thank you! I was wondering if you all ordered through Alice or through the official website. I ordered from Alice March 10 but I don't always receive an email or update on when my Impldolls have shipped, sometimes they just arrive on the doorstep. But I also heard that sometimes Impl doesn't ship to Alice first, but goes straight to the home, so she may not know when the items have been shipped. Glad yours is ready!!!

 

I ordered via email. It’s the only way to get a custom colour, though now I’m regretting not going through Alice’s bc I feel like it would have been cheaper.

I ordered my blank Lanny and a 65 male body March 10 and I just received a tracking number! Do it does sound like a lot of March orders are being shipped this month.

 

I ordered my new Model Body in March and she came the other day. I was very pleased.

Yeah, I ordered in March, and when I emailed them, they said they screwed up my custom colour, and so they can’t ship until next month. At this point I can’t say I highly recommend their custom colours, because the upcharge was significantly more than it used to be, and it’s delaying my order significantly. Next time I’ll dye the bodies myself, probably

Almost two weeks since I paid the shipping invoice to BJDivas and I'm still waiting for a shipping notification. Hopefully next week!

I'm so sorry - I saw they goofed on your custom color. How frustrating.

 

Yeah, so far I can’t say I recommend Impl’s custom colours so far. I hope the colours are accurate, and I don’t have to return anything, like the last person I saw get a custom colour did. I know which of my custom colours is the delay—my light blue will have been easy, but my dark blue body is probably the holdup. It’s probably not an easy colour to cast.

 

Update regarding Impldoll’s custom colour ordering process: they sent me a picture, and it was the total wrong colour. Maybe half as dark as it was supposed to be. It was awful. After a very terse email exchange, they’re redoing my dark blue sample, and they haven’t even attempted my light blue yet. This makes me wish I could get a refund and just go to resinsoul, but they won’t let me because they’ve already attempted my wrong colour. I’m not gonna let them rest until they get it right though. I won’t accept the wrong colour and call it good enough—they charged me an extra $100 for the wrong colour lol.

Alrightie, so impldoll has decided to ship me half my order (without showing me the colour, so I’m scared it’s gonna be totally wrong!) but the other half, from March, still isn’t done. Their customer service on custom colours leaves a lot to be desired

So the match on the first body is impeccable. It’s literally perfect. They got this one majorly right.

 

After hearing so many people say that Impldoll's production timeframe has gotten quite long lately (6-9 months), I was really worried that my Eudora was going to take much longer than I had anticipated, especially given I ordered her in brown skin and chose one of the newer bodies. I think I have ended up being one of the lucky ones though, as I got a notification yesterday saying that she has been shipped! I ordered her July 7th, so she was just barely over 3 months. I'm just hoping that when she arrives it'll actually be what I ordered, as there seems to be a few recent horror stories of Impldoll sending people incorrect orders. I'm feeling hopeful though and she should be here within the next week, so fingers crossed all is well

 

Someone mentioned... somewhere (BJD Discord, maybe?) that production isn't based upon when orders come in so much as when they have enough orders in a certain color to fill? So part of the delay (or quick turnaround) could be that Impldoll finally got enough brown resin orders to cast a batch of dolls.
I can't confirm this, but several other people got their dark tan dolls recently, so the explanation appears to track. I'm thinking that maybe not a lot of people have ordered peach gold resin, so that's why I'm waiting.

 

I'm glad people are getting their dolls quickly. I paid off my BJDivas layaway four months ago and Impldoll is taking their sweet time shipping dolls to them.

 

You may want to read some of BJDivas' service reviews. I had a similar issue with them that I wrote about here. Tl;dr - I paid off my layaway, and Impldoll still didn't receive my order until eight months afterwards.
All that to say, you may be in for quite a long wait, and it may not involve delay on Impldoll's part.

 

It's strange because I've gotten an Impldoll from them before (5/6 years ago) and it didn't take long at all. It's definitely making me rethink using them in the future, though.

 

So it's not widely acknowledged/discussed, but dealers generally have quotas for orders. They have to have a certain dollar amount before they can place an order with a company, and they generally wait until a certain number of orders are ready to ship. Both of these waiting periods can add to your delay, but both are pretty much standard business procedure between dealers and companies. It's an economy of scale issue: larger orders means companies can make dolls in batches, and shipping dolls in batches saves on postage.

When you're an older, established dealer like Alice's Collections (who is also located in China, which is why they primarily deal with Chinese doll companies), this wait time is considerably less, because they receive lots of orders.

However, if you're a smaller dealer like BJDivas or Jane's Dolland, the combined waits can extend order times considerably.

Denver Doll Emporium works around this by buying extra stock to have on hand - which is why DDE has a large in-stock selection. For example, I believe they buy dolls from Resinsoul and Fairyland on a weekly basis. It's also why DDE generally doesn't offer discounts as large as other dealers, because it's a trade-off between shorter wait times and having to front more money for dolls that aren't claimed by pre-orders.

Editing to add: the reason why my review was distinctly negative, even though I was fully aware of the above, was that it was represented to me that the order had already been submitted to the company; whereas the company was caught off-guard by my complaint to them on Instagram.

 

Just posting in here to say I am waiting for two orders from Impldoll: a 68cm female idol body in tan ordered on 9/16/24 through Alice's Collections, and a Sicily head in real skin with custom makeup ordered on 9/30/24 direct through their site.

I know they have had delays with custom makeup lately, and they told me 3 months when I placed the order, but I'm expecting it'll be longer than that now based on their recent update saying 5 months. Layaway isn't paid off for the body yet but head was paid in full when I ordered, so I guess we'll see how long it takes.

 

Well, no photos, but I have a tracking number for the second body I ordered from Impldoll. Again, I’m almost sure the colour is going to be wrong.

I ordered Madeline on the Idol body and a Kamara head in dark brown resin back in July, and I suspect my order might have been the tipping point for a lot of dark brown resin orders, since several folks have received theirs now. I wonder if mine will be shipped soon too?
Still waiting on my peach gold resin 62 cm Vilma from April. Did anyone else happen to place an order in peach gold resin? I'm wondering if Impldoll is waiting for more orders.

 

Update on my order!

Impldoll has told me the reason I haven't gotten my order yet is because they want to make the new muscular body for me instead of the old one! (BJDivas had not told me that). But then I told them I ordered the Idol body, not the Star body, and they said the order didn't reflect that, that it only said "muscular body"! Oops!

They'll get to work on it right away!

 

I received my second impldoll shipment a couple days ago, with my second colour matched body. I’m not allowed to lift more than 5 lbs for medical reasons, so I can’t put the head on until December, which is annoying.

the colour ended up being close enough that I can live with it. It’s a shade paler in natural light, but it’s about a 90% match. I’m still not thrilled with the amount of arguing that was necessary to get this colour, or that after I said one colour was wrong, impldoll stopped showing me colours before shipping. I’m not thrilled that I ordered in March and I didn’t receive my dolls until the last couple days of October, but I am satisfied with the products that I recieved, in the end, which is a huge relief, because it would be too late for a PayPal claim.

At the end of the day, I’m actually thankful they’ve suspended custom colours. I don’t think they have the bandwidth to do them right now, and I think they tried to cut corners with the first wrong colour they to expedite production, because of how busy they are.

If impldoll brings back custom colours—which, I don’t know that they ever will, with how much hassle it creates—I would only consider going through them for lighter tones, I wouldn’t go through getting them to make any more saturated, or deeper tones again.

 

Alice has informed me that my tan 68cm female idol body will be ready to ship "very soon." I just finished the layaway. Initially ordered on 9/16/24 so it has been under 3 months. Looking forward to seeing it! This is the body I sculpted a custom head for (my "human Violet" one if you want to find my progress thread) and I'm excited to pop the prototype head onto it and see how it looks. (My proto has a smaller neck diameter than the version I'm casting though, so it won't be exact, but I think will be good enough to give an idea of the look).

While I am excited to get the body, I will be out of town for a week before Christmas, so I hope it doesn't show up when I'm gone. I do have a trusted neighbor who could retrieve it for me if needed though.

I'm still waiting on the Sicily head with custom makeup, but there's no rush for that as I don't have the body for that character yet.

Vilma arrived recently, and she is stunning. These bodies are so beautifully sculpted, and there's hot glue sueding inside the joints.

Impldoll shipped my order today (the tan 68cm female idol body)! My local post has lost a few things of ours so I'm a little worried about it going through usps; I have a hold mail thing for when I'm out of town next week and I'm going to see if I can put a hold on that specific package if it arrives after then, since the problem seems to be once it gets "out for delivery" in my area. I hope it gets here safely.

 

My 68cm female idol body has been in transit since November 13th. Canada post went on strike before the package was delivered. The strike is over now but I am worried that it will be lost in the mail.

 

Got my order today, in dark tan. It was supposed to be tan.

I've contacted Alice about it and hopefully they can do something. I'm really disappointed. What usually happens when the order is the wrong resin color? I sculpted and had a head cast for this, in a tan color, so I can't just adapt the body to something else.

It's funny because I know this color was one they were having issues with, but they just made me an extra one, lol. But damn, I don't buy dolls often and I'm pretty disappointed.

 

I’m also in Canada, and I had a package hit customs just after the strike, which is out for delivery today (not from impl). If it’s any reassurance to you, things seem to be moving at a normal-ish speed now that post is reopened. Hopefully, you see your doll soon!!

 

"Re-joining" the waiting room here as I am now waiting for my replacement tan body, lol. Fingers crossed the order is correct second time around.

They didn't ask for me to send the dark tan one back, but I'm going to hold onto it until I get the replacement in case they ask for it.

 

Welp I caved and bought the new muscle body for a floating head. It is a big goal of mine to finish as many dolls as possible this year and I'm trying to fufill it. I say as I have msd heads that need bodies and two SD+ heads that still need bodies and yet I'm grabbing more floating heads.

 

My new boy body I ordered from Alice's in the end of October shipped. I'm anxious about the shipping, but excited to see it.

 

I got my replacement body today, with the wrong bust size and possibly the wrong color. The tan looks very light to me, and pink, so I thought they sent me peach gold or something else, but I've been asking around and people are saying it might just be a really light tan in general. Either way, the order is still wrong, but if this is indeed their tan color, I cannot use it for my project, so... I'm going to have to delay putting this doll together for a while. I'm moving over the summer, so I'm not sure I'd have enough time to order a different one.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Alice because I'm double checking whether the color is correct. Honestly at this point I'm not invested enough to post more photos on here and have another big discussion about the color; I'm just going to wait and see what she says. If she says it's tan, I don't know if I will ask for a replacement bust in the correct size, as I won't use it for this project anyway.

I think I have basically ended up with two dolls I can't use though, and if they still don't want me to send back the first dark tan one, I'm going to endeavor to sell them so I can at least afford to order a body in a color that works better for what I'm doing.

 

That sounds incredibly frustrating!!! Without seeing the colours, I can say that Tan and Peach Gold are very similar colours, just looking at their colour chart, and what you expected from tan was probably more like “brown skin”—which is frustrating, because I swear they used to do a “tan” that was similar to what’s called brown skin now. And I believe some of the pages have older colour charts that show that old tan. I also don’t think “brown skin” is a particularly accurate descriptor for the colour they’re calling that, with how warm toned, and light the shade is.

I also think it’s likely they’re just going to let you keep the “dark tan”/really dark brown body you received. They let Iron_Dog keep two extra full dolls when they got their custom colour wrong a few years back. They gave me three heads I didn’t order over my custom colour debacle (one in each custom colour, one as a gift for the wait). They seem to give out freebies in the case of order messups pretty freely.

This sounds incredibly frustrating, so I hope Alice is able to do something to get you the body you want after this long saga of wrong bodies!

Fortunately, I was able to quickly sell the tan one, so was able to afford a replacement. I hope it can arrive before Resin Rose so I have a way to display the head I sculpted.

Also, I had asked Impldoll about the head with the custom faceup I'm waiting on; they said it should be done within the next month (that would make it about a 5- or 6-month wait). I ordered that one directly from them rather than through a dealer.

Just wanted to say thanks for your message/info. I literally only own one other bjd that I haven't sculpted myself, so I'm still learning, but basically (and I already knew this from just, art) lighting can make colors look like anything, so there's an inherent risk in my ordering any color, lol. I'm just thankful I was able to turn around one of the bodies to try ordering it in brown.

They did indeed not ask for the dark tan one back too, so I'm having that one up for sale as well. It was pretty useful in the interim while I was ordering clothes, though, lol, but I'm sure there will be someone else somewhere looking for that color eventually.

 

He has arrived!! And doesn't match the head I needed. They've changed the real skin since I ordered my Pei Ying, and he looks rather pinheaded on the body. Neck is long and large, but I think with hair and different clothes it will be good enough. I also managed to chip his face up somehow...

I’m so glad I could help! It is incredibly cool that you sculpt your own dolls—that gives you knowledge about parts of the hobby I have no knowledge about, but would love to one day get into. And I’m glad you got a chance to order a body in the colour that will most likely actually match your heads!! I hope it ships soon!

 

For the head I ordered with the custom makeup, I asked Impldoll for a partial refund and to just send me the blank Sicily head so I could do the faceup myself. They agreed and said they will send it next week. For the sake of sharing info, they had said they would be done with the makeup on March 18th (I had placed the order on September 29th), so that would be almost a 6 month wait.

Tbh my reason for having it sent earlier isn't the wait, but that I want to do it myself, now that I have decided to get better at faceups. I want to put more of myself into this character, and feel like it would be more special for me to do the faceup myself now that I have the materials to do so.

Anyway, they said they'd send me an extra head as well, which is cool I guess? I can use that one to practice as well.

 

My muscular body has already shipped! Just a little over a month! I ordered through Alice's Collections and Impl is shipping directly. My Candice will have a new body soon. Hopefully the brown matches well.

 

Got the Sicily head two days ago; they didn't include an extra one (I don't care tbh but I worry about them not having their shit together when they say stuff like that lmao). Idk if this is normal but the inside of the head is lumpy in some places and there's a very thin spot on one of the temples where you can see through the resin. Kind of weird because I spent forever making the inside of the head I sculpted smooth and symmetrical when I printed the master but, yeah. I wonder if they're rushing the casting a bit or if this is just how the artist sculpted it. It looks fine from the outside, so it's alright

I do want to point out though, that I didn't get a CoA with this head. I asked around on Discord and this is not normal. I mean, it's for one of my own characters and I likely won't re-sell the head, but I do think it's kind of just another negative mark on their side that they would forget to send a CoA with it...

(further edit re the above; it appears as though they sent me one that was an older version of the mold, maybe the first? Unsure on whether the color is also the older version or not, and whether this was recently cast or if it was just older stock. It's possible the older ones don't have a CoA.)

Still waiting on the body; hopefully I can be one of the people who are surprised at it shipping earlier than expected.

 

I got an email from LegendDoll this morning that my Impldoll body (68 cm idol, brown) is ready to ship. I ordered it on 2/12/25. I hope everything is right with the order. Feeling a bit of dread tbh.

 

I ordered another Star Model body in peach gold - I love the 1/3 (62 cm) body, but Mari's head looks a little too big on it. Looks like the original head is getting its body back! (Vilma, I think?) Ordered direct from Impldoll, and they threw in optional hands free, which was nice of them!
And now, I wait...

Moira is breathtaking, but she's not staying unfortunately. The body has been stolen by my Candice. They've darkened their brown resin, which is good, but that means I need to do a new faceup.

Well, looks like I get to hunker down and join the wait in here! I ordered a Moira in dark tan on the new muscle body as I like the sculpt way better for a character of mine than the doll she is currently shelled in (Iplehouse Camilla). I ordered on April 8th from ACBJD
