IMPL dolls Star, Model & Idol Discussion 16

Sep 2, 2022

    1. So the Ransom I ordered as part of the Thanksgiving even is already here! He's GORGEOUS and actually more masculine than I thought (in a very good way). He just looks so friendly! I love his cleft chin and his lips are to die for. Album

    2. @Thymeseer He's so cheerful looking and I love his ears!

      • x 1
    3. The only things keeping me from not getting a Ransom is that I don't have a character for him and I'm running out of space to store boxes. Otherwise I would absolutely get him 'cause he's so gorgeous!

      • x 1
    4. He has a swell cleft in his chin! Damn, if I'd seen him in tan, I'd be in danger

    5. I see a lot of heads posted but not a lot of bodies. Are the imple bodies not good posers? Is there a recent body comparison thread?

      • x 1
    6. @Subzerolover I have four male bodies (72cm version 1 and 3, two different old 60cm) and two female bodies (both the 65cm, one muscular and one not). I really like them, and think the posing is great with some caveats (they're very heavy, come strung really tight, etc.). I just don't want too many of my dolls to have the same bodies; I like variety.

Did you have any specific questions/comparisons you want to see?

      • x 4
    7. @Thymeseer I want to know how well they hold poses. The dollshe I got does not satisfy my pose-need. Which body holds poses the best?

      • x 2
    8. They're equally good at posing in the arms, a little suedeing at the shoulders really does wonders. The elbow peanut in the big boy's arms have to be engaged by pulling it out a bit; for me it's a two-handed job. But they do stay put. The bicep swivel I'm ambivalent about. It's ugly out of clothes, but my guys have covered arms.

The legs is the big difference for me. Version 1 legs make me want to YELL. There's no front string channels (they're hidden on the side), so to get him to sit I have to twist the top thigh section around to actually GET to a channel so the string has a place to slide down so he can sit. I'm planning on cutting front channels in with my Dremel. That should fix the issue.

My version 3 body is a lot stiffer in slouching/torso in general. I think it can be fixed with restringing, but I haven't gotten the string yet. He can sit with ease however. Both stand well, and easily. But they're VERY heavy. My chunkiest, weightiest boys. Solid.

I do have to say is they're not going to be as good of posers as Dollshe. They just are too heavy. So they might not be the guys for you.

      • x 2
    9. Flat out best all around posing would be my big LoongSoul dolls. To be fair, I haven't really handled my big DollShe dude enough to properly compare him to the LS boys, but straight out of the box the LS boys have been better/easier than any other doll I've handled.
I have a muscular body Idol girl and her pose-ability is pretty good - better than my 65cm DollZone girls, not as good as my LoongSoul and Twigling girls, as good as, maybe slightly better than, my older Soom girls (the old 65cm girl body from way back in the day). The Fairyland F65 isn't included on my posing list because the engineering on that body is absolute crap - she can't even sit upright on her own.
My Impl girl arrived very tightly strung, but it doesn't really bother me. I'll eventually restring her with thicker elastic which will improve ROM and ability to hold poses, but am in no real hurry to do so

      • x 5
    10. @Subzerolover I have two Impl bodies, the model male v1 and the...TGB 72cm body. They're both decent posers, I do find the bigger body very heavy. I can get him into stable poses easily but he would be difficult to manipulate if you struggle with mobility in your hands. I removed his channel stopper in the torso and it helped with his tension a lot. I agree with Thymeseer, they look nice in clothing and they sit and lounge great. I also find the feet are too small for the weight, so you will definitely need to stabilize him when standing, but that can be easily replaced with bigger feet.

      • x 4
    11. You may also want to email Impl and ask if the body you're looking at has single or double jointed knees and if they have the mobility thigh or not. I say this as Malachite (the 3rd Ziv they sent me) had single jointed knees and no mobility thigh. When I asked them about this (Kulfi; Ziv #1, and the 2nd Ziv) both had DJ knees and mobility thighs. Impl told me they were re-designing the bodies. Bear in mind this is for the male Model bodies and may not apply to other sizes. But asking doesn't hurt.

      • x 5
    12. I wish I could help with the question but I don't want to play too much with my doll unless she's got clothes on, and she's meant to be a character doll and I haven't made her any clothes... so she's sitting in my closet naked. But like someone mentioned, they're strung very tight and are heavy, so take that as you will.

    13. Hello, I have a question if anybody can help me.
I plan to get and Irvin head and hybrid it with a different body, to join my crew of big boys, who mostly are Loongsoul. But Loongsoul is known for how pinheaded are the recent ones, so I was wondering if anyone has some Impldoll and Loongsoul at hand to show how they look together?
Many thanks is someone can help! :chibi

    14. I did it,I ordered Ransom!
This was my first time using paypal and first time ordering outside the EU(I'm aware with the tax I have to pay extra).
      Now the waiting time begins....:shudder:dance

      • x 5
    15. Congrats on ordering! Ahhhh, the dreaded wait time. I think Impl is pretty good for their waits compared to some other companies. But others would have better info on that than me since my doll bought directly from them was a custom colour, Covid interrupted his production in a huge way and there were errors in the colour he was supposed to be that Impl needed to correct.

I'm waiting on a Luts unicorn boy that I ordered in January. Because he's limited and was only available during the winter event, I likely won't see him until June *sigh*. I'd really, really like to order a body from Impl to go with the prototype head they sent me but I can't afford more resin at this time *sulks*.

    16. My heads came!!!!

zona is smaller than expected, which is actually perfect!

This is her on a dollmore glamour eve body—idk how getting that much smaller worked on her, but somehow, she looks perfect

    17. She looks lovely! That faceup is really pretty, is that the company one?

    18. could anyone that owns a eudora be kind enough to to measure her head for me and tell me if 14mm or 12mm eyes work better?
according to acbjd eudoras head is 21cm and wears 14mm eyes but i find a lot of the time official sizes either aren't correct or at least not what looks the best

P.S @Chameleon your zona is absolutely precious omg

    19. It’s a company one!! I linked one of their Instagram posts and went “are you able to do a faceup like this one again?” And they did her almost identical to the photo, but she has this slight shimmer to her! I’m so impressed.
      Thank you!!

I also have a blank Eudora and she’s in 14mm eyes with a 5 mm Iris, but you could easily do 12 or even 10mm probably!!

      • x 5
    20. @Chameleon I love Zona's sculpting as well as the company faceup, she looks like someone I know (and also like an actress) which is cool and makes her lively. It's nice to see the Impl heads on smaller bodies, I like the scale of them more than the big, thicc bodies. (Not that I dislike the big thicc bodies, but phew, I'm tired of carrying them around for photos)

    23. I want both Gemma and Kamara for different characters personally

    24. I received some of my Black Friday sale heads and I wanted to share the face ups because I am very impressed with them, especially given the low cost! For Azalea and Vanessa, I requested Ransom's face up, which I think turned out beautifully. For Sicily I asked for her default face up although I personally feel it came out way better than their official photos! Maybe they realized I prefer larger and fluffy eyebrows from my other makeup requests. Sicily is pink skin, Vanessa is cream white, and Azalea is real skin. There is only a minor difference between the cream white and real skin, it looks like the same tone just lightened a little bit.

    26. Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience hybridizing impl with dika doll.

I am wanting to get the impl 70cm female idol body for my dika doll Felis head. But I am not sure how well the head would fit or if it would look too big. I am also not sure how the resin matches. I can't seem to find any impl and dika doll resin comparisons. Does anyone know what resin colour would most closely match dika doll white?

      • x 3
    27. @Zacarias DikaDoll has two white resins one is more of a cream color and their pure white is a papery white color, Impldoll white is definitely more of a paper white so would be better match to the DikaDoll pure white color :)

    28. @Jareth thanks for the information. I unfortunately already purchased the head in white resin. The head already arrived so there is no way to change my order. Would you happen to know what impl normal resin looks like? Is it more yellowish or creamish? Could it be a possible match for dika doll white?

      • x 1
    29. You could have the head blushed to match the body if it's blank and the colour difference is noticeable. If the head is already painted, you could get a custom colour match for the body by Impl. They're quite reasonable on pricing for that. If that's the route you'd go, I'd highly recommend you send them a physical sample to match over something you email as colours can and do appear different on different monitors. You can send the head cap but, again, I'd highly recommend sending them a paint chip (free from any store) instead as if that were to get lost in the mail you're only out the cost of the letter sent to them instead of losing a head cap.

I had a custom green Ziv made by Impl and had a hiccup with the correct colour when it was initially done via a selection digitally. Once I sent them a physical sample, the result was absolutely dead on. They were phenomenal with the customer service as well in getting my order right. This is Malachite, the final result of sending a physical sample of the colour he needed to be. He's a bit darker in person (my camera loves to "correct" my photos). Face-up is custom by Dr.Krow.

    30. @Iron_Dog : I have not seen him since the faceup. He looks stunning!!!!

      • x 2
    31. @TasiaChiba Thank you. I'm super pleased with the job Dr. Krow did on his face-up. It's beautiful and unique and completely Malachite (he is the God of Crystal & Stone).

Funny enough, it was a bit of a miscommunication between what I said and how Dr. Krow took it that resulted in this face-up. He wasn't supposed to have the blue swirls of colour on his face. I'd sent a photo of azurite as an example of the shade of intense blue I wanted included somehow in his colour palette (azurite often occurs with malachite) & Dr. Krow took it to mean give Malachite some azurite deposits. I was surprised at first but after letting it sit in my head for the night, I realized it was perfect for Malachite.

Malachite also wasn't supposed to have the cream white wig he's wearing. I had bought him a charcoal mohair wig tipped in steel blue annnnnd he hated it. I tried the cream wig on him for a giggle annnnnd he loved it. The white does sort of make sense in that white/clear quartz is frequently found with malachite deposits, too.

    32. @Iron_Dog Thanks so much for the information. Your doll is absolutely gorgeous.

If I order a colour match will I have to order directly from impl or is it possible to request through a dealer? Thanks for the tip about sending a paint chip, I just had a quick question about what exactly you were referring to.

By paint chip do you mean one of those cards paint stores carry that show the different colours that can be mixed?

      • x 1
    33. I think I might be able to answer these
for a custom color request I would absolutely order directly from Impl - they have really good customer service and the fewer people an unusual request is filtered through the better

One of those paint cards (with the color really clearly marked, just in case) or I've also heard of people ordering custom colors from other companies by providing the Panatone number or CMYK breakdown

      • x 2
    34. @Zacarias Yes, a "paint chip" is one of the cards that you get at a paint store that has the colour on it, usually with the name of the shade on the back. I recommend the paint chip method as you can bring in the head (or just the cap) and match them as closely as possible together in the store. The paint chip samples are also free. Generally paint stores will have a very wide selection of shades so you'll likely be able to find something very close if not exactly the shade you need.

I ordered directly via Impl and they were fantastic. As I mentioned, there was a hiccup with my original order in that the 1st Ziv they sent me was far too light (the colour blender company messed up). I notified them right away and they agreed that the doll I was sent was not even close to the sample I choose via a digital selection. When I offered to send the "wrong" Ziv back, they told me to keep him as it was their error and that they'd make him again in the proper colour. Then Covid became a thing not even a month later *sigh*. That screwed the world over and it was about a year before they were able to make and send me my Ziv.

      Only....

They had to use a new colour blender (the original closed during Covid) and the Ziv I was sent was literally half a tone darker than the first one. If they weren't in strong light you'd think they were the same colour. I again told them he was wrong (and provided photos of the 2 Zivs together). I offered again to send the 2nd Ziv back and they again said to keep it as it was their mistake. I then sent the physical sample and the result is the gorgeousness that is Malachite.

I kept the 1st Ziv who became Kulfi and obviously kept the 3rd Ziv (Malachite). I gave the 2nd Ziv to a very good friend of mine for her birthday. I'd initially put him up for sale and she said if she had the cash she'd have liked to buy him as he was perfect in size, colour and face for one of her characters. Impl also sent me an utterly gorgeous head with the 2nd Ziv (that I'm 100% keeping). The head is a prototype and aside from Impl itself, I'm likely the only person who has it. He doesn't even have a company name yet and hasn't been released yet (they weren't sure when he'd be ready for release).

    35. @Girrl and Iron_Dog: Thank you both for the information on paint chips and about ordering customs directly from the company. I am so happy to learn impldoll does custom matching. I have another head that I was having such a difficult time finding a body for.

@Iron_Dog: I'm sorry to hear that they messed up your custom resin colour twice and you had to wait so long. But I am happy they made it right and it's really awesome they sent you a free prototype head. Have you posted photos of it on DOA at all?

    36. @Zacarias Impl was stellar in their customer service. A large chunk of the delay was completely out of their control (Covid) but they did their best to get the problem corrected as soon as they could.

I did post a pic of the head way back when I first got it as I couldn't figure out what head it was (I'm face-blind so that was making the task near impossible for me) and asked here if anyone could tell me what head it was. Nobody here could identify it so I emailed Impl to ask what sculpt it was. That's when they told me it was a prototype they were working on and that it didn't even have a name yet. This is the head. I intend to get him a body from Impl (when I have discretionary funds to afford it).

    37. So I received some semi-bad news currently Impldoll waiting times are now 4-6 months instead of the 3 months I was expecting,at least that's what Alice-collections told me I don't know if its different when you order from the company directly...

    38. My wait for my Mona (full doll with a faceup) was 6 months, and I ordered directly from the company.

    39. With the heads I got from the Black Friday event, I thought I would show what they look like hybridized with various bodies.

This is Sicily on the 65cm double jointed Supiadoll body. The pink skin is an excellent close match for Supia rose pink.

More photos of other hybrids under the spoiler tag.
Another picture of her because I can't resist, I really love this combination:

And this is Azalea on a Feeple65 body. Real skin is an OK match for Feeple normal. I think the proportions are great for the hybrid.

And this is Vanessa on a Miracle Doll 68cm (taller I think) muscle body. Cream white is lighted than their normal yellow.

    41. @Ardent : Thank you so much for these headswaps! Azalea looks WOW on that F65! Lovely seeing the Supia65. I have it on my wishlist, and good to see the Impl heads hybrid so nicely on it.

I can also confirm the Impl woman heads look rather nice on the 62 ballerina. ^_~ Just a teeny bit more room at the neck, but not really noticeable. I have Azalea, Alberta, Aurora, and Lydia. Aurora seems to have the larger neck hole of the four and I have intentions of hybriding her on an undecided male body, but I also think that the 65 would do perfect as a hybrid with that particular head!!

      • x 5
    42. Beautiful photos @Ardent! I really admire Supia's bodies, and good to know that some heads could work as a hybrid for it.

Haven't really been posting much here because my restless self is seriously considering changing up my preexisting Impl hybrids (some of them may no longer be hybrid anymore, or other heads may be assigned to them). Call it a case of my doll preferences changing once more. But while Adhara is still on the Starwoman MGB, I can spam her somewhat:

    43. I finally got my Sicily in the mail recently and love her, weird ankles and all, but I'm not exactly sure how the MGB body works restringing wise and I didn't see on here or on impldoll's website a restringing guide. If anyone has a specific method or knows how impldoll does it, I'd love to know.

      • x 3
    44. Sorry I only got to reply here now. I use two loops of strings for my MGBs. One loop for the arms+torso, and a longer one which run from the neck to the ankles. It's actually a very straightforward setup, none of the cross-pelvis stringing in some bodies that may cause posing problems.

    45. Thanks a lot, one other question, I got some wire as a gift with the MGB body, is there a spot you recommend it for? I was probably going to use it in the shoulder and neck joints but I wasn't sure if that's the most effective spot.

    46. @Haven_Of_Dolls336 My MGB orders never had wire, so unfortunately I cannot help you with that. I sueded my own dolls, so they never needed the wire to pose.

    49. @Iron_Dog : Thanks for showing me your prototype head. (Sorry for my super late reply life suddenly got super hectic.) It is a very cool looking head. I really like the ears and chin shape. What scale is it? Other then finding a body do you have any plans for customization?

      • x 1
    50. @Zacarias He's an SD and would fit on the Star/Idol body (12cm &12.5cm neck respectively) I haven't measured the neck hole but just for personal height preferences I'd likely go with the Star body (64cm tall doll).

As I'm writing this I don't know who he is yet and he's not said a peep about who he is. But I've also just received 2 dolls (OT for this thread) so I'm a little occupied with them. I do, however, plan to pair him up with one of the other floating heads I have (BiDoll CS). That head was, for the longest time (like literally several years), supposed to be Qayin, one of the dolls I just received, but the difficulty of finding him a body that met the requirements of the character had me switch him to a completely different sculpt... one of the ones that just arrived yesterday.

Qayin (Luts Unicorn Dian, 65cm) is partnered to Malachite (Impl Ziv, 58cm) and Ji-Sun (SD Juhl, 62cm). I'm so very pleased to have that thruple all together finally after so long (literally 4 years). I don't have anything but some less than optimal phone pics I've shared with friends as when I took Ji-Sun out of his box I discovered that I need to either tighten his elastic or replace it all together as he will not stand unaided. If his elastic is original (I got him 2nd hand), then it's def due replacement as it's probably easily 10 years old.

The top of Malachite 's head only comes to Qayin's shoulder but I'd written him as being very short compared to other men. Originally Qayin was supposed to be around the same height as Ji-Sun but now he's taller and I'm okay with that. Kulfi (Ziv) also has a significant size differences with his husbands Rhyia (Soom Euclase, 67cm) and Akusuo (Dollshe Hound, 68cm) but again, I wrote them that way.

    52. @Shawir I love your Darlene, she's so colourful. Did you do the faceup yourself? Also, is that one of their brown skins or one of the tans? I'm hoping to get a dark skinned girl from them (to shell a Southeast Asian character) and I want to avoid the orangeyness of some tans.

@sylvesther I'm curious about this too! I wanted to replace my Spiritdoll Proud body with a Resinsoul body because I want something more in scale beside an Impldoll Idol. But so far everywhere I look seems to suggest it won't be proportionate.
      --

Also, I regret and hate my Idolman choice of body. His bootay is too hard to sew for! (Is working on a top secret project and has had to take one too many measurements of Massimo's bootay as a result).
