IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread part 12

sword sticks are the funnest, eh? @rubydoll? LOL. Maybe a dip in a sauna/Jacuzzi or hot shower?

 

So our local dealer has informed me that my MGB order is already on the way to my country. @IngieBee we placed our orders at around the same time, so fingers crossed that you may indeed get a shipping notice soon!

 

My fingers are crossed, but I did go through Alice's, so it might take longer... Plus the color change, etc... But I do hope it ships soon or I'll have to ask them to hold it until after the holidays because I don't want toworry about delivery when I'm doing so much running around!

 

@IngieBee I do love it when we get to play with weapons - when I got my black belt my mum asked if I'd quit and I said no way, we get to do knife defences now! And swords are always cool - had a go with a metal one and they're so heavy! Was actually nice to get the wooden one back! A sauna or jacuzzi sounds lovely but I think I'll have to settle for a nice hot bath - and I should probably try to move a bit more - do some stretching.

Actually I do want to change my dolls' outfits to update their doll profile head shots which requires getting down on the floor to pull stuff out from under the bed. That could be interesting! But I'm determined my crew are not going to change from Halloween costumes into Christmas jumpers - although it is nearly December I've done separate doll profiles for heads that are sharing bodies but can I do it for two bodies that are sharing a head??

@AntarelNefertili I misread that as already *in* your country rather than on its way but still it's exciting hope it arrives safely and that @IngieBee doesn't have to wait till after the holidays!

 

Ooh, do you do competitions? You should be a film stunt woman! LOL And when you become a Sensei you can use your dolls to explain the moves?!

My dolls have changed so much since I last photographed them in the Summer.... new wigs, outfits, etc... I also need to start taking updated shots!

I'm still waiting on my Aurora on the muscular Idol body. I think my order has been in since... Um... mid June, but I went for fullset (for a different doll of mine) so that probably explains it.

 

i have Aurora but on muscular star body, so now i waiting her new body as her character is Queen, so she dont need muscular body, i will leave that body for her guard :-) im now waiting mgb body on real skin as well, and hope so it will give us much more posing possibility as it looks on pictures :-)

 

@IngieBee I've done about two competitions - I'm not very competitive to be honest - grew up with an older brother who threw a tantrum whenever he lost so I learned the only way I could win was to not win XD Besides, there's something not right with my hips so I have poor rotation in them so I struggle with kicks - only way I'm gonna land a head kick is if you're already kneeling down XD Funnily enough though I do think as my hips as stung wrong and picture "heel feet" when doing a front kick but it's bad enough that the kids rob me of my phone so they can play Pokemon Go on it at the end of class, never mind them getting hold of my dolls XD

I'm part way through changing everybody into something their character would typically wear so I can take new profile pics. At present it's sort of like what they would wear around the house because I haven't dug the shoes out yet. And in the case of two of them it's what they'd typically wear after a disastrous trip to the barber because I haven't got the wig box out yet either.

Your Delia looks so good, i like this hybrid. i still cant find any time for my dolls now, but in holiday time i will, i promised that for myself already...

 

@IngieBee The head is the old RS, I think (not UV protected!) It's a very creamy, cafe au lait kind of colour, there's no pink to it at all. The body is also Spirit doll's old(er) NS. They don't match exactly, the head is paler than the body, but it looks super close in yellow light so I don't care. And in white light, it just looks like she's wearing pale concealer.

@Anita2006 Thank you! I really like how you've been accessorizing your dolls and right now my Delia's just wearing scraps and hand-me-downs. She doesn't even have her proper wig! But I love the proportions of the body, I was surprised how nicely the head and body fit. Only, she tends to look down for no reason, because of the shape of the head gap.

 

Cool, I think she looks awesome, @A Wee Tiefling and I'd love to see more pictures, especially of her face as I've seen so few Delias!

@chalyss @IngieBee @rubydoll Thanks! I wasn't sure what to buy her since the Proud body is a weird in-between size. All her clothes except her bra are Tensiya and Sadol EID men's. Including the ballin' jacket. I'd estimate she's an SID woman. I'm glad the resin discrepancy doesn't show in pictures.

 

oh, thanks for all compliments, my dolls clothes still not finished, still need to work on them, but its always nice to hear that someone likes how it looks :-) this one more week will be hard for me, as i agreed to work full time to cover my colegue, but i will have weekend for play with sewing mashine... i realy hope so i will have any power left for this....

My heads arrived yesterday, no shipping notice, just a box turned up. I finally have my second Iris head! She's going to need serious blushing to match - the April Story body which seemed too pink for a yellow toned head suddenly seems too yellow, lol. My older pink head has mellowed out quite a lot in comparison with the new one. You can see it here; 0ld Impldoll Pink, New Pink and Old Real Skin

The Dorisy head however...Apparently they're using the mould for the head they adapted to fit the new Star body. This is a tiny head, even in comparison with my Models and why you would put it on a 65cm body, especially when it looks great on the 56cm body is beyond me. So the poor girl has a ridiculously enlarged neck hole. Here she is on the Model body.

She looks great where you can't see the "neck" part they've added to the head. I'm going to have to take a Dremel to her >_< I might widen her eyes a little too - she's meant to be a younger character so I think bigger eyes will suit her. She has quite big lower eyelids so I think it's do-able. She will be going on a Resinsoul body which I will be modding to be shorter. so, my redo golden eyes arrived and it looks so good on my queen Mary, ( impldoll Aurora). im more as happy. its 12mm eyes, with small iris, and i like it. it fits her character :-)

 

one more picture of how she looks with new eyes :-) i will try to add eyelashies for my King Francis, as he looks blank without them and lashies will give more express on his face. even i like him more because i know his head scoulpt was limited just 10 of them. i dont know if blackcharie still makes him :-/

 

Oh @rubydoll so sorry! I think the lesson I am learning with Impldoll is to expect NOTHING stays the same. Color, size, design, etc! I have to remember that if I want to hybridize in the future again!

I love the new eyes, @Anita2006 , they look beautiful and soft! Just perfect!

 

@IngieBee Yeah, I probably should have sent them a picture asking for this version of the Dorisy head but given that they sent the Dorisy head out to someone and she hated it (who would want this? Photo by Miku Mildrum) why would they keep that mould? Why not send her on the old Star body by default? If they don't want to encourage people to have that body over the new ones, why not change her classification to a Model and put her on that one? My brain is just boggling with the whys! When I can understand why something is the way it is, then fair enough but I just...it must have taken extra work to make the Dorisy head fit the massive new Star neck - I could understand if they'd cast the head, realised it wouldn't fit and drilled it out, but they made a new mould? And at no point thought this neck is like two thirds the size of this head and all the other heads we put on this body are twice this size, maybe I should check this is what they really want...

I spent part of yesterday evening chipping her neck down to size - only meant to widen her eyes but the razor blade was cutting through the resin nicely so I carried on. It still needs smoothing out with sandpaper but it already looks better. Luckily I don't mind a bit of neck gapping >>

In the case of the colour mismatch, it could just be yellowing. My yosd who lives on top of the wardrobe does seem a bit pinker - I could dig out her fantasy parts which have been in a box for comparison. But I like the toned down colour of my older NP girl over the strawberry Starburst pink of the newer head.

Her wig is ridiculously big on her - at the very least it's a generous 8-9 when she could use more of a 7-8 and if she's perched this high on her own body I might shorten her neck a bit, but here's how Dorisy looks now;

@Anita2006 her right eye looks great, her left looks like it has dropped just a tiny bit - probably the eye putty coming loose. Because it likes to stick to my fingers more than anything else, I sometimes use a tool like a thin chopstick or an orange stick (is that what they're called? Those wooden sticks you're meant to use for pushing back your nail cuticles) to poke it against the resin so it holds better. I've got silicone eyes in Dorisy and they're kinda tricky sometimes because they squish. You get them just perfect then by the time you've got her wig on they've settled and shifted out of place XP I really like her jewellery - I keep thinking my princes and princess could use a crown or a diadem or something

 

@rubydoll i found some crowns and jewels on ebay and on aliexpress, and they was ok, i like them as well. For eyes i will fix that one eye later, but now im happy how my Queen looks.

 

It is really satisfying when a doll's look starts to come together, the right eyes, the right wig and your Queen does look fab I was thinking I might try making a crown but I can see me bending some wire about a bit, then giving up. Someone once made me a crown like Thranduil from the Hobbit so I feel like that shouldn't be that hard ... Well, we'll see XD

 

OMG, @rubydoll, that's just WRONG! Yikes! Make them send you a proper one! Or if not, at least you've made her look very nice :P I get Monique wigs, and always get size 7-8 which fit just fine on the star and idol girl heads for me, so yah, I'd assume your Dorsey head might fit something even smaller? Of course, anyone reading this, Monique wigs are stretchy too BTW, I do like her neck length. Impldoll does give their dolls abundant neck lengths though

@Anita2006 I know how you feel, when I mess with those eyes, and then, after the hassle, take pictures, and find the eyelash fell, or the eye is popped in, or I didn't see the putty poking out, UGH! I just leave it and enjoy as is!! LOL

Yah, I agree with you @rubydoll! I spent the last 3 hours working on some of my dolls. One doll, I was really happy with, as she got the right wig (and it was even one rejected by all my other dolls!!!), and great outfit that ended up fitting. Tonight, she got her shoes, and I was just flipping tickled pink! Then I got another doll a wig I was hoping would bring out the look I wanted in her, and voila! Perfect! New tennis shoes, a sweater and she's completed! A third got some stockings and shoes, BAM! #3 finally complete! And then, last one for the night, I put my Aurora head on that real skin body I got (Aurora is a special order skin color because I wanted to put her on a Supiadoll body some day) Her head doesn't look as awful as my Lydia's head looked on that body, and so I dressed it up in an awesome outfit that barely squeezed on from SartoriaJ and she looks pretty darn fantastic! Especially with her natural faceup - she's a hippy chick. I hope that outfit fits the Supiadoll body some day, LOL, but until then, Aurora feels almost like a complete doll, and I'm going to take pictures of all of them tomorrow if everything goes well! (so tired now, I can hardly move!)

Oh but a very productive dolly day today, and I'm really happy

 

@rubydoll That is quite the discrepancy! Now I'm leery about getting some of the smaller heads. I was hoping to pick up one second-hand for some more hybridizing but if the size consistency isn't fixed then...

@Anita2006 I love that Aurora! I've been planning to get an Aurora on the muscular body, but it's nice to see her in any form.

 

@A Wee Tiefling thank you, i still waiting her new body, hope so then my Queen will be finished, i want to make her other dresses as well, but there is not inafe time for everything. I still want to put on eyelashies on my king ( blackcherry nikky head on impldoll idol body) now started to work on my blue dress wich is for azalea - my lady Lola, ant dress looks more better as was before. just need to finish all decorating details and buttons.

 

@IngieBee I've sanded her neck down and it looks okay now - I might adjust it a bit more but I'll wait until her own body gets here. I'm glad to hear about your lovely productive dolly day It cheered me up when I realised I wouldn't be able to work on my new heads' faceups as it was lashing it down with rain outside and I have nowhere indoors I can spray safely. Instead I took pictures of my dolls as they are now - some to update their doll profiles, but partly just as a snapshot of their progress right now.

@A Wee Tiefling AFAIK Dorisy is the only old Star head they've forced onto the new Star body - honestly she always looked a bit undersized even on the old Star body. She really is tiny. Here she is next to Erica who is also a Star head (and whose neck hole is fine!)

They did replace the Dorisy on the Star body with a version on the Model body so it would seem you can still get her with a more reasonable sized neckhole! I have several Model heads so if you need any size comparison shots I might be able to help.

Ugh, tell me about it, @Anita2006 , I planned ahead to do a quick photo shoot of my completed dolls (except Aurora is borrowing a body, LOL) And I got it done in about an hour, which is all I had, LOL. BUT I can show her off here now, I'm so happy with these dolls!

I love the small breasts! They seem to sit lower, making them look so much more natural (I really didn't think they looked good on the website, but definitely my favorite size now!) This body will go to a Cristal head, and someday Aurora will get a Supiadoll body (mostly because I want to be a little different, and the opportunity to get the head was there... so why not?) At least her head doesn't look as bad as Lydia's head looked on this body :P

She does seem like she'd fit on the model body best @rubydoll. I wonder what they were thinking!?

 

@rubydoll thank you, im thinking to pick up some holidays soon, just to have some time for myself and for craft, like sewing and dolls face ups :-D to relax and enjoy :-) i will show dresses when it will be completly finished.
@IngieBee does your clothes is from sartoriaj or im wrong? they have so amazing shirts for mens that im thinking to order just to look closer on how they was made. Your Aurora looks cute and great, so amazing and natural face up.

 

Yes, @Anita2006 but I gotta say the shorts barely got over her hips! Once they did, it closed fine, but i didn't lace it up completely due to laziness, and I just realized I don't know if she's be hard to sit if fully laced up?

 

@IngieBee Wow, that Aurora is styled so differently! I agree, the way her clothes sit on her chest look natural and that's quite nice, gives interesting options for dressing her.

Yah, I am one of those people that were given WAY too much in the chest department. I remember getting a traffic ticket one day, and the cop guestimated my weight at 180 lbs, I was so upset! I was young and not at all fat! I always had back pain too, and finally got rid of them and my back pain! Dolls with large chests actually make me cringe, but I do want clothes to fit them well, and most doll clothes are designed for at least medium bust...so I'm always afraid to get small, but I am so delighted with this body, I have the one I needed to reorder in small as well, but my Azalia is medium again, LOL

BTW why do you feel the smaller SD are harder to dress? I mean, I assume you are speaking of the model body? Because I find most SD clothes fit them super well?

 

@IngieBee Welp, my legs alone weigh what you used to so I guess I'm a continental shelf :P Comes with being a dancer.

Smallish or weird in-between sizes may have more clothing, but usually the actual fashion styles are kinda meh. I'm not interested in styling a 30+ character as if they're some scene kid teen with sparkles and ripped jeans and bedazzling everywhere. It's not my style preference, and it's not reflecting how I want to style my characters usually.

 

I can get that And I'm not small anymore either. Back then I think I was 140 lbs so finding out I looked like I was 180 was horrifying to me! Of course now I'd love to be 180, LOL Anyway, I totally get the problem with finding the right clothes for your doll. I did finally snag a few sophisticated suits/outfits which are just the kind of thing I wanted for my dolls, and you're right, my fairyland dolls wear the cutsie or jeans and t-shirts, LOL. I did snag an outfit that the maker called Mori style, which is a little hippy-ish and I love that kind of thing being a child of the 60-70's but even searching that style I don't see quite what I like. But that Sartorij outfit is one of my favorites So yah, I really wish I could get to sewing. I know the first few things I try might not turn out, but I can't get to refining my ideas until I can snag the time to sew! LOL

 

Hello everyone, I'm considering getting my first SD from Impl. Pretty sure I want it to be the Star female body, not certain about head sculpt yet, torn between a couple of them. I've been wondering, would Iplehouse SID clothes or similar fit the Star body? And would SD16 shoes fit? I'd appreciate help here.

 

@IngieBee Sophisticated! that's the description I'm looking for! I want more tailored, sophisticated styles available for my in-between size lady. Almost all her clothes are slim men's clothing that looked silly on my male-styled doll.

 

I think more EID, but some SID too. As far as I know, all the newer sculpts from the Idol line fit the Star body as well, as they're very similar in size and mostly different from leg length. Of course there are older heads, which were made to fit the old star body which was completely different. I don't even know exactly which heads start with the old bodies, but there seems to me to be a stylistic difference realistic vs more anime. I did put SID clothes on my star body, but the pants were tight I think EID is a safer bet especially if she is busty (even medium)

My girls have BIG feet. 7.7 cm long as it says in the website. The have another new body called the Star Mobility body MGB where it looks like they've reduced the size of her feet to 6.6cm but I don't think anyone has gotten it yet to see what shoes fit? If I'm not mistaken, I got these shoes from Dollmore:

Clothes are by SartoriaJ and the shorts were a tight squeeze but fit well once they got over the hips

 

Yah, and I find it so hard to find good outfits ;P There are a lot of adorable clothes, fantastic dresses, but it's that tailored look that's so hard to find :P

 

@Beatrix Helevorn I second IngieBee, SID clothes might sometimes be too slim, if they are form-fitting styles. I have a body comparable to an SID/Star body and she's still pretty busty and curvy. Slimmer styles would not fit her.

 

Thanks so much for the help. I was eyeballing a cool leather jacket tagged as SID size. I'll look into EID then. My heart is set on Azalea on Star body, not the mobility one though. Would that look fine? Does anyone have one in this combination? I honestly don't know which sculpts are new ones.

i found some patterns of feeple 65 in russian site and it was good for my two dresses, but im always trying to make some different style of clothes, first cut it larger and then stich by hand to fit my dolls body, still waiting my MGB body.... Think so it will come early in spring....

 

I really love the star body, I love the curves and sculpting. I have 2 bodies now, I've put Aurora's, Alma's and Lydia's head on this body, and they all look good. I also have another Lydia on a muscle Idol body. I honestly don't think there is much difference between them other than height? Might have a bigger hip circumference? I gotta look that up.... The regular non-MGB body is slightly stiff, and tight (mine are) and though they are double jointed, they don't do anything spectacular. BUT they're solid, totally solid! Balanced, pose well, just need to put a bit of muscle into it sometimes to bend them, so they slump "comfortably" LOL But that's undoubtedly more to do with size and tightness.

But anyway my Azalea is coming on the star mobility body. I think it depends on when the head was made. I came to Impldoll after they changed the star body and released the idol, in fact I came here just over a year ago, like a year and a month.... but their more realistic heads, I'm pretty sure, fit both the idol and star bodies for both male and female. I have Dylan on star, and Nicolas on idol bodies.

@Anita2006 I've noticed there are a lot of great patterns and how tos on Russian sites too (or could be Ukrainian or Polish as well) Absolutely fantastic looking sites, only I can't read LOL

 

AFAIK the female Star and Idol bodies are the same, it's just the legs that are different so the heads can go on either. On impldoll's site Welcome to impldoll the older sculpts are at the bottom of the page and a bit cheaper - they've also thinned them down a bit - when Erica first disappeared I emailed them asking if I could still order her and they obliged. The older sculpts are still shown on Alice's Collections tho. The old Star body is closer in waist /hip /bust to the Model but is much longer in the body so it used to be possible to swap heads between those two in some cases.

@Beatrix Helevorn I know @chalyss has an Azalea on the muscle version of the Star body, which is the same sculpt, just with more muscle definition Snow Ell'fh fabuloso! I can't remember what bodies her other Azaleas are on so it might be worth having a browse through her Flickr

I've used the translate function in Chrome on the Russian bjd forum - perhaps if I'd known I'd get into this hobby I'd have made more of an effort to remember the Russian I learnt! It's not great - body seems to get translated as corpse so right off the bat it's kinda creepy and any specialised terms don't translate at all. But it's better than not being able to read anything at all I suppose!

so i started to redoing my azalea blue dress added some details on it and it looks much better as before. its just stiching at the moment, but looks much much better. oh, and she have sword now :-) hope so to find time before Christmas to finish it. thinking t add some hood with fur and it would look amazing. she still dont have shoes, but is invisible when dress is long :-)

I've been lurking in this thread for a while now, and I'm loving everyone's awesome dolls. So many pretty Azaleas...

I ordered an Azalea on the muscular Star body a while back in a custom purple color, and it was super exciting when she finally got here last week! She arrived with human ears instead of the elf ears I ordered her with and the poor baby definitely needs a smaller wig, but I'm still completely in love with her. She's the perfect shell for one of the characters from my novel (aside from the ears, but her wig hides those right now), and her resin color is exactly what I ordered.



Also, I don't know if this is new information or not, but Mysteriousdollworld's shop on Etsy has tons of awesome clothes that are a near-perfect fit for the Star body. I got the dress my girl is currently wearing from there, and it fits her like a glove.

 

@Squishle your doll is perfect, i need smaller wig fow my Queen ( Aurora) as well ut for now she looks fine. just when playing with her i need all the time fix the wig :-)

 

@rubydoll oh no! I'm really interested in some of the older sculpts, do you think they're all gone?

 

Now here is an example where I can see Impldoll "updating" the feet to the new star body's feet with no notice. I'm trying to make a mental note for the future! It looks like they're 1cm difference!

@Squishle , I'm shocked! I've looked at her clothes so many times, but decided it was probably too small for my dolls! Actually, I had no idea what size those things were, so I figured it would be for the pure SD size dolls! Or does she do different sizes?

I don't think so, @A Wee Tiefling, I think Impl will make any sculpt if you ask them to, they have for others. I think they just weren't as popular, so they "put 'em away" ???

@Anita2006 She has a sword now - that made me grin - I love swords! I need to get some more weapons for my crew - I only have a couple of swords, a dagger, and a selection of guns...! I like the idea of a fur lined cloak too - I have some fake fur knocking about and I keep thinking I should dig it out - Heilan would definitely suit a Game of Thrones style outfit!

@Squishle your Azalea is lovely and that's a fab dress! Shop recommendations are always good - I just had a look on Etsy and there is now a couple of things in my cart, lol, but I need to wait and see how much I spend when I go to London this weekend XD Are you planning to mod her ears?

@A Wee Tiefling I think @IngieBee is right - they will still make up the old sculpts for you but they've just tidied up the site a bit. Most of my orders have been via email but if for any reason you would rather order via webpage, Impldoll : Alice's Collections still lists all of them.

And speaking of Alice's, I got a shipping notice! I ordered some hands for Mr Randall so I'm really hoping he will finally be able to play his violin! Most of the rest of the order is clothes so I'm going to be torn - it's Christmas jumper time but of course I'm going to want to try the new clothes on! I haven't actually got anyone changed yet, but the tree is up! Even if there is no batteries in the lights yet XP Heilan will also be getting some eyes so hopefully they will suit him - and I was right in my prediction that they'd arrive before I got round to making him new ones!

@rubydoll i like how this sword looks on dolls hands, and azalea looks dangerous with it but very femine, like dangerous lady... I would like to put on my Christmas three as well but im not sure how my dog will react to it :-D hope so it will survive this Christmas.

 

I just had news from my parents that my Alma head has arrived! I decided to have it rerouted to their address in the US due to the problems here with Canada Post and the union's strike causing a massive backlog (like come on guys, it's not that hard to pay your employees equally and take steps towards safety!) Anyway, now I have to wait until I go there to get her (a weekend in January). Luckily, I already have a body for her so I'm super eager for January to come now.

About a week ago, I took ALL of my dolls down from their spots and got a group shot. While putting them away, I took individual shots. I rather like this one of my Bernice, Rissa, so I thought I'd share that along with my Alma excitement.
