IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 15

Dec 23, 2020

    1. @Havra Davina had the three slots, but my Sicily head didn't. I also had fits getting her off the body, the hook was just a tad too big for her. Had no such problem with Davina.

    2. @Havra Thank you very much for your pictures. Please would it be possible to add some Davina pictures by profile? Thanks a lot !!

I also bought a Bianca head and a Zona head. I bought them both in Real skin tone. I made their face-up. The Bianca head is on a Dollzone B60 boy body (normal skin). Here is a picture:

    3. @Milka Your girls are lovely! Bianca looks properly proportional on a 60 cm. body. Did you have problems with the neck hole at all?

    4. Thank you. :-) Bianca head fits perfectly on 60cm Dollzone B-60 boy body. The neck hole of the body is 9,3 cm of circumference. Zona head is smaller than Bianca head. It can fit Dollzone B-60 body, but the head is higher on the neck. So, for Bianca head, there is no problem at all with the neck hole. Here is a picture:

    5. @Milka That's a great fit! Thanks for the picture!

    6. @Havra Thank you! That's certainly an interesting side profile, and no uber-long nose, to boot! As for the multiple s-hook slots, my IH Scarlet has those too, although I haven't exactly utilized it to my advantage because I prefer to let the silicone padding on the neck do the work for me with regards to mobility.

@Milka Thank you for the photos! I've been eyeing Zona for a while now, and while I'm still disappointed she's too small for my liking, it's great to see owner pics of her. Also, you mentioned they're in RealSkin? Bah, Impldoll's really thrown their darker, peachy iteration of RealSkin out of the window. :sorry

@Girrl At the very least, I've learned how to make neck adapters to fit huge neck holes to smaller necks thanks to my SartoriaJ/Impldoll hybrid. (Like @Isabeau I went the apoxie way.) I agree though, if you've built your collection around tall boys and girls, it'd be frustrating to see that size disappear on what was previously your go-to company. :sigh

    7. @AntarelNefertili My Tony is what they called real skin and he's what I would call normal or normal yellow. I was a bit disappointed.

    8. @Isabeau
Please share your Tony when he's ready. I have mine in Real Skin but it's definitely a darker than "normal" resin.

    9. @A Wee Tiefling Will do! Mine looks absolutely normal. I think he must have been made during their recent pallid phase.

    10. @IngieBee My boy(s) came from the 2019 batch, or 2020 depending on when they cast it. Tony is definitely not pale, he's almost as dark as my tan doll. I'll try and get some pics that compare him with a tan and an old Impl pink skin.

    11. I have received an Irvin head in real skin recently. It is extremely light colour.

    12. My thanksgiving sale heads were supposed to be Real Skin but they came as a really rather pale NS.

      • x 1
    13. Yah, that sounds like my RS dolls. I ordered a body for my old RS Plaice and got the lighter RS, which didn't match at all. It was SO disappointing after waiting 14 months as well. I still have a bitter taste in my mouth :(

But I do love Imple's dolls. Just don't trust them to buy a body for my old real skin dolls, even if I pay for color matching :(

      • x 1
    14. Yeah, this is my Tony. If you're hoping for dark, I wouldn't order Realskin until they get their act together.

I can live with it, because the character works as pale, but for someone who needs that dark skin, it's a no go.

    15. I am on the same boat as others who are still a tad disappointed about RealSkin batches not matching (and I even had a custom "Brown" that's even lighter than the peachy RS). While I still love the Impldoll MGB despite the work needed to be put in one of my dolls to fix short-shoulder issues, I won't be dropping dough on the darker colors anytime soon.

Speaking of the MGB and the old peachy RealSkin, here is Adhara showing off just how flexible she could be. Hidden under a spoilers tag because the photoshoot is on the steamy side. :P

    17. I'm not usually a fan of more realistic dolls but Taavi is just checking all my boxes. I'll have to get him after I get a couple other dolls on my list.

    18. These are absolutely gorgeous, thank you for showing them. You did a great job on their face ups. May I ask where Zona's eyes came from? Thank you!

    20. Hello, i'm wondering if anyone has the 58cm male body? I'm looking for a muscular body in the 50cm range and it looks like Impldoll's model body might be an option. I'm curious as to how good it is at posing or if there's any particular pros or cons with it? ;)

    21. @Epicari Granado has some nice muscular bodies in your size range and they sell bodies only.

    22. When I looked at Granado I couldn't see any male bodies in the 50cm range. Do you remember what the body was called as that might help me find it? :wiggle

    23. Oops! I was thinking of Raccoon or SartoriaJ. Soom Idealian 51 and Souldoll Vito are also in the range. What is the size of the head you have?

      Edit: Also Iplehouse FID.

    24. I have a model boy (Ziv). I also have ID51's, SD Vitos, Raccoon Doll, Batchix 51, Granado 53 Lucifer, DV 50cm body with a SD Kid head and Iple FID. I can take photos of Kulfi (the Ziv) with any of those other dolls if you would like.

    25. I only have the girls, and they look great with Fairyland f60 dolls, which are more like 56cm. But if what you want is a large mini, it might be too big. It certainly would not fit an FID head IMO, though I could be wrong??

    26. It most definitely won't fit an FID head. Kulfi currently wears a stretchy 7/8 Monique wig. A small 8/9 also fits him fine (I believe he's a dead on 8" circumference). An FID wears a 5/6 (6 1/8" circumference). I think it would give pin-headed new meaning to try to get an FID head on a Model body. Let me know if you want pics of the two together to see the size difference.

A Conarium body might be more the ticket if you're looking to put an FID head on a non-Iple body. I don't have one (yet) but I think they're roughly the size of an FID as far as neck diameter and they're 49cm tall. As far as I know you can also purchase just a body as well. SD Vitos are pretty chunky guys and take a 7/8 wig (7" circumference) so I have doubts that an FID head would fit on that body. ID51's have smaller heads (5/6 wig) but they are limited and to the best of my knowledge, bodies are not sold separately. Batchix 51's also have smaller heads (5/6 wig) but I want to say they've been discontinued?

Doll Family A does a 56cm boy but he takes a standard 8/9 wig (I have one and again, just ask if you want to see pics. SD Kids used to be taller (48/49cm) but they renewed the body and he's 46/47cm now I think.

    27. Thanks for the suggestions! I'm not so familiar with Racoon & SartoriaJ's dolls so will take a look. I did once have a FID but between the lack of posing and the very thin cheap feeling plastic I wasn't a fan and sold it on.
The heads I have are I.O.S ones. I have the panther head which is tiny (will dye body black to match) and I've had my class50 Cho head for sale for several years and if it doesn't sell then might just think about doing something with it.
This is what they look like with a DF-H 62cm body and a Dream Valley 51cm body.
The heads are a bit too small for the 62 body but way too big for the 51. The DF-A 56cm body is a reasonable size but between the single joints and softer young looking body it doesn't quite tick the boxes. So I think something in the 56-60cm range would work and i'm looking at the Magic Time 60cm body, the Alm 60cm body and the Impldoll 58cm body.

While i'm familiar with Magic Time and Alm, I have no idea about the Impldoll 58 body. I do great frustrated if a body doesn't have a reasonable amount of posing ability so that's my main concern about it. I think Luts have a delf body that 's around 60cm but it doesn't have the little bit of muscle definition in the arms that i'm looking for.

I would be interested in seeing how the Model compares to the DV 50cm body as I have a DV body so have a better idea of what that's like. I am curious about the ID51, SD Vito, Raccoon Doll and Granado 53 body if you have the time do do a quick comparison! :D

Thanks for the suggestions and help so far, it's appreciated :dance

    28. I might be a little long in getting the pics for you as I'm currently ill and barely managing to stay awake for longer than 2 hours at a go *sigh* (2 negative Covid tests so far so some other bug that's making the rounds and making me feel like poop).

But! I can certainly haul the boys out and take some shots of them. I can give you a neck diameter for the Impl Model as well if you want. Please note that the Granado 53 seems to have been a one-time production that they did as a crowdfund thing so finding one in the wild may be difficult.

Edit to say that apparently the Dollmore Adam is actually 57.5cm not the stated 60cm on the site. I got this info from someone here on DoA who has multiple Dollmore Adams.

    29. I think I might have an older version of the Model boy, but I have it hybrided with a Feeple60 head. I wire almost all my dolls, including this guy, so my opinions on posing are colored by that. I find the arms amazing. He holds poses well, can keep his arms up, and the biceps mobility joint is a little silly looking naked, it works well under clothes. I love the thigh mobility joint too. The main downside: his knees are single jointed. He does stand very well and sit very nicely, but the knees are very limited. He's a good sloucher, but lack of a belly joint prevents curling up. He can't hold a bend backwards but I bet a little lip of apoxie sculpt would be super easy to add.

My character is a rogueish type, so I'm no stranger to trying to pose him though I am a poor photographer. Are there any specific poses you want photos of?

    30. Model boy bodies from 2020/2022 have double jointed knees. They still have a 2-part torso though (joint under the bust). I'd say he poses well but I'm also not a demanding poser so my opinion my not be the best. He stands rock solid straight out of the box and I've done nothing like sueding/wiring to make him stand/pose better. I like the thigh mobility joint but personally hate the bicep joint because it does look kinda weird when the doll is naked/shirtless. I've toyed with the idea of gluing the joint into one piece because I dislike the way it looks when rotated so much.

But, this bicep joint seems to also be a thing with their bigger boys as my Miguel The Demon Hunter has it, too. With him, because of all the projections on his body, it makes sense to me and is less annoying visually to me. Again, purely my preference on this.

    31. I've gotten into realistic proportions, and I like Dolls that look adult. So to my eye, he looks perfect on the 62cm body and I can't imagine doing better :doh I guess that's what makes it so hard to advise, everyone has their own aesthetic:?

      • x 1
    32. i agree with @IngieBee. try a wig on him before you decide on a smaller body.

    33. Sorry for the slow reply, i've also had a health flare up so was out of action for a while. While I would appreciate the photos, there's absolutely no rush as i'm not going to buy a body until later this year. I hope you start feeling better soon, I know what it's like to only be able to do a little bit every day and it is quite frustrating! Thanks for the info on the Dollmore body, I've not delved that deeply into what's available over there so will take a look :thumbup

Thanks for all the great info on the posing! I haven't had much luck in finding any talk or photos of this particular body so that's really helpful! It's nice to know that the body is a solid stander, that's an absolute must for me as I like to stand my dolls a lot.

I was also curious about the bicep joint. I can see that it would be useful for posing the arms when clothes with long sleeves but wasn't too keen on how it looks. I would be thinking of having the character in sleeveless style outfits (which is why i'm looking for a bit of shaping on the arms) so that joint would be visible.

As for the posing, along with the being able to stand well, good arm mobility and being able to do a natural sitting pose are things I look for. It would be interesting to see what range of movement the joints can do. However I know that's a lot of work to take, process and upload the photos so please don't feel you have to do that :sweat

Haha, yes, everyone has their own taste when it comes to head and body proportions. Personally i'm not keen on the Asian style of teeny-tiny animal heads on humans bodies. I know the black panther head is hard to see in the photos but it looks so small that it's distracting even on a 62cm body.

As for the Cho head, it's not far off on the proportions, though the character I might even up using it for would be bald and would have quite a bulky outfit. Also the head was just perched on top of the 62cm neck as the neck hole is too small. I'm not adverse to doing some neck hole modification but like to avoid it when I can! Proportionally I like the head with the shoulder width, I think that works well.

One of the other reasons i'm also looking for bodies on the smaller side is that i've found the SD size is too big and heavy for me. So i'm trying to 'down-size' my collection where I can :XD:

      • x 1
    34. @Epicari Turns out that I tested positive for Covid after 2 negatives and days apart *sigh. Today is my last day of the 10 day isolation. I feel much better but I also tire easily and the darn cough just won't go away. I will still take the photos for you. It's on my to-do list.

The upper arm joint is fairly high up on the arm so you could probably get away with a short sleeve shirt and not have it visible. When the joint isn't engaged, the pieces fit together very tightly so the overall appearance of the joint isn't glaring. If you were to glue the joint in place it would be a minor line. Kulfi is currently wearing a short sleeve jacket sort of thing and you can't see the bicep joint.

Double check with the Dollmore Adam boys thread just to make sure with other owners on overall height. The information I have on those bodies is several years old and they might've made adjustments to the bodies since then.

      • x 5
    35. Been a while since I posted here! With regards to proportions, I'm on the same boat with @IngieBee that I prefer my dolls to be on the more realistic side. Also, the bicep joints might actually pretty useful if the doll's elbow mobility is meh. Aesthetically, I thought it didn't look too bad. Still, of all the dolls I've had, only my Impldoll Idolman FGB had it, and the other crew members got by just fine without the bicep cuts.

Part of the reason why I haven't been so active in the Impl subforum is because I've boxed up my Idolman body (basically, all my Impldoll hybrids now are purely girls). Guórén, who was previously a Granado Michael on an Idolman FGB, is now reshelled into a complete Granado Noah from head to toe, albeit with ongoing customization. I was worried he'd be too tall for Adhara, but turns out killer heels are all that's needed to give the Starwoman MGB enough height to help bridge the gap with Granado's 75Adagio body.

Now that I think about it, I avoided putting heels on Adhara because at her heeled height, she's almost eye-to-eye with his Idolman hybrid ex-shell LOL.

    36. @IngieBee I went for a short walk to the post office (about 15 minutes each way) and I was a little breathless by the time I got home. Not cool. Zero stars. Do not recommend.

I moved Kulfi the other day (he's sitting on the love seat with Rhyia and Akusuo) and when I sat him back down, I didn't engage his knees (bending them slightly) and now he's got a horrible case of flying feet. His feet are about 2" off the seat and it looks so weird. I keep meaning to fix it but I forget about it until I sit down and see it out of the corner of my eye and then I'm too lazy to get up and do it saying, "I'll fix it when I get up again." but I forget. Lather, rinse, repeat.

    37. Photos as requested. Please excuse the horrible apartment lighting. Resin colour has a yellowish tone because of the incandescent light in that area of my apartment *sigh*.

Group shot (left to right): Granado 53Lucifer (Syringa), Impl Model Ziv (custom green), SDSouloid Phiel head on DV 3-arm body (WS), Soom ID51 Gluino (grey), Raccoon Doll LE Elf Kai (WS). You can see fairly well in this shot how the bicep cut looks both aligned and when twisted/turned. I also measured Kulfi and he's dead on 56cm.
[IMG]1 by ID Locke, on Flickr

I've included this pic as well for comparison as all 3 dolls are currently available as standard ones (more or less). As I mentioned before, the Granado 53Lucifer was only available as a crowdfund event and would likely be difficult to find 2nd hand. Granado has never mentioned producing this size doll again to the best of my knowledge. Soom ID51's are still being made but when they're offered is random and limited. You can find them 2nd hand but they don't pop up all that often in my experience.
L-R: Raccoon Doll Elf Kai, Impl Model Ziv, SD Souloid Phiel head on DV 3-arm body
[IMG]3 by ID Locke, on Flickr

I do have shots of the Granado and ID51 next to the Ziv if you wanted to see those as well. Kulfi's face-up is the default Impl one, btw, and I think it's lovely. If you want different poses of the Model, I can do that as well. Just tell me what you want to see. None of my guys in this group are sueded/wired and all stand well straight out of the box (although Kai-Wen, the Raccoon guy, was being a total dick today). The Granado came with some silicone kips in certain joints. The DV body was re-strung looser as he was frighteningly tight when he arrived from DV (seriously, I was afraid to move his joints because he creaked so alarmingly). I am the first owner of all but the Raccoon boy (I'm his 2nd owner).

    38. LOL, Familiar on both counts, @Iron_Dog

      Awesome lineup!

    39. Oh wow, that's so fantastic, thank you so much! It's so interesting to see the bodies together as you really don't get any idea of what they're like when just shown individually on the company pages. I've quite surprised at the height of the Racoon body as didn't think it would be that tall. And the Soom is surprisingly thicc with it's wide body :XD:

The Impl is definitely looking the best with both the height and wider shoulders. It does look like you could glue the bicep joint and the line wouldn't be too noticeable which is good. But yeah, DV and it's notorious tight stringing, I wonder if they have someone in the company who's super strong and does the stringing

It's interesting to see the different colours too. I've always been curious about the Grando Syringa and it looks at bit darker and more purple than I imagined. The Impl green is such a nice colour, I had forgotten Impl did custom colours! Is that the 3rd attempt or is it one of the earlier dolls they sent?

Btw, hope you feeling a bit better!

    40. @Epicari Yeah, the Raccoon boy is fairly tall. They're very close overall (height & thickness) to SD Vitos. If you want to see that, I can do that as well as I also have Vitos (because of course I do). Soom boys are pretty thicc. There's also a weird peg sort of thing in the ball of the upper arm/shoulder joint that somewhat limits them being able to do a T pose with the arms straight out parallel to the floor. It's not a common pose but they can't hold them straight out like most other dolls which is ever so slightly annoying to me.

I have a serious weakness for coloured resin, grey in particular. I think I'm up to 11? 12? grey dolls from almost as many companies. The Granado syringa is a purple toned grey which makes perfect sense when you know that syringa is the genus for lilacs. It's really a beautiful colour. I have some nice pics I took of Liroshan in natural light for a Granado contest that shows his actual colour much better than in crappy apartment light.

Kulfi is the first Ziv they sent me. The 2nd one is maybe a tone darker at the very most. When they're next to each other, unless they're in strong light you can't tell there's a difference because it's that subtle. The 3rd one is still being made as far as I know. They received the physical colour sample I sent them about 1 month ago so I'm reasonably confident that he'll be the right shade of medium-dark green that he needs to be.

Yes, I am feeling better. Thank you.

    41. for anyone who's gotten just a head from impl in recent months-- how have the waits been? I've been looking for a specific head secondhand but not a lot of people seem to have her at all let alone have her and want to get rid of her, so I'm thinking i may be forced to order direct...hoping I'm not in for another year wait.

    42. My Marlon head with faceup arrived in 5 weeks. Ordered in mid January and arrived on Feb 23.

    43. I ordered a Davina head w/o faceup in November when they had the sale and I got her towards the end of January.

    44. A question for anyone who has had orders received with the new realskin color... how pale do you find it? I received my order and my realskin doll and heads are as pale as my resinsoul doll! (And RS has always been pale, lol) I was pretty shocked at it, not expecting the color at all. Even compared to the websites photos showing the newest color. So I thought I'd ask opinions.

      • x 1
    45. well those aren't bad waits at all. I want a blank head in normal/pink, so no faceup or special color to hold things up.

    46. @TasiaChiba Impldoll's RealSkin is P A L E these days, and so is their Brown, from what I've heard. I myself ordered a custom-color one that's supposed to be quite brown (gave them an online color reference), and what I got was comparable to a normal yellow or cream white. Not really happy with how the current swatches are going. :sweat

      • x 1
    47. @AntarelNefertili : Cream white is exactly my word choice when I first opened the box! Glad to know I wasn't just overthinking it. Thank you, thank you for your response!

I admit to be really sad, since it wasn't what I was expecting and I'd had it on a long layway, from before they changed the resin. Oh well. I just wish it was closer to the color they're advertising.

Other than that, I really, really love the body and how the resin feels! I need to share some comparisons I've done later.

I'm so waiting on the rest of my order, so there's that. ^_^

    48. Yeah, my Tony isn't what I think of as real skin at all (I tend to think Iple when I read real skin), and not like the pictures. He's definitely normal yellow.

    49. I've decided to just order the head I'm wanting direct from Impl-- I don't think I'm gonna have much luck with WTB threads and such, since I just don't think there are that many of her out there. I sent them an email about it today, but it got kicked back directly as undeliverable. I used the [email protected] address that is shown on their website under the "contact" link. Is there another email I should be using instead, or should I contact them on the message board instead of using email? I've never done a solo head order from them before.

    50. I've been using this email: [email protected] to contact them. It's listed on their website, tucked in on the bottom. I didn't see it at first either! They've always been speedy with replies.

    51. thanks so much! just resent my email to that address-- hopefully I'll hear back quick!

    52. You are most welcome, and good luck! 8D

    53. That was so speedy-- I used the email you suggested, and I got a reply almost immediately. My order is already placed, paid for, and confirmed :D

    54. Yay!! I'm very happy that they helped you so fast! You've had basically a mirror of the experience I had with them lol. Once I found the correct way to contact them, everything went speedy for me as well xD Now we just have to be patient lol
