IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 14

Sep 24, 2019

    1. Great ideas, @nancy_schroeder_ca ! I never seem to think outside the box! I've used plywood, but it's so heavy! I like the idea of paper board on a wood frame! Excellent!

      • x 1
    2. Ohhhhh I agree with @IngieBee, @nancy_schroeder_ca! It actually gives me ideas for actual home decor that could also be utilized for doll use. Even though it's been a long while since I've touched traditional painting media, a good printer should do the trick for making hardcopies of digital backgrounds. (Unfortunately, considering how huge Impldolls are, they have to be hi-res!)

      eeeeehhhooooooo...here's Dante. He's on a Star body,

    4. @IngieBee he's a little rebel Andre and just too effin pretty! The star body works well for scale and I love the posing but the resin match sucks. I know impl does matching but wev, I'm on a budget.

    5. He is a cutie fer sure! I don't see the difference much in the picture, he looks great to me :)

    6. @AntarelNefertili I love those pics! Blissdhara is a beautiful doll. Though I love the smile on the non-fantasy Adhara now. It's super cute.

@IngieBee I use filters for him to smooth out the difference. In reality he's really pink-faced. It makes it look like he's been working out (or getting busy with his FWB) I have to add tattoos and I might try to do some small matching on his neck and arms at that time. He's going to be a PROJECT for a while.

Also, is this scale comparable to SD17 because I am having the worst luck at finding clothes in his style (which is like the Artful Dodger in the 30th century)

    7. That's just too cute and funny, @AntarelNefertili , LOL :love:wiggle:XD:

@A Wee Tiefling , he looks so thin in that picture, is he the same star body available today on the site? If so, ugh, no, they are too wide. I had an outfit made at ACBJD and it was still a disappointment. I would save my $$ and hire a good seamstress and check out sartoriaj and Iplehouse SID clothes EID if a little bit large is OK.

    8. Great, I'm constitutionally incapable of patience and saving. Sid clothes are easy to find. He is...posso posand older star body. I'll double check. He's hefty though, not like my spindly spiritdoll guy

    9. Well, here is my star boy on the right . They are supposed to fit Sid clothing but I haven't confirmed that yet.

    10. @IngieBee I've been dying to get that shot ever since my ex-Azalea's new owner finally got to personalize her, especially since my other dolls didn't get to say a proper goodbye. I was simply too excited to get the badly-needed money from her sale (which financed my MGB) at the time, haha!

@A Wee Tiefling Blissdhara LOL. It sounds like they're being shipped together... which in all honesty isn't too far-fetched because Adhara's orientation isn't set in stone. But naaaah, she loves Guórén too much. :P

I was able to make EID clothing fit on the Idolman with some wiggle room to spare, so maaaaaybe SID will fit the Star? Despite the looks, Impldoll's male bodies are actually a little slimmer than Iplehouse's, at least from what I've seen in doll meets.

      • x 1
    11. :) @AntarelNefertili I'd ship a Blissdhara union! It's the AU version!

@IngieBee I think it's the older Star body. It is a slimmer body and the jointed chest is below the pectorals and not at the pectorals. Which means he can def also fit SD17 clothes because they're all a bit bigger!

    12. Cool, I'm glad you could ascertain that and you could also compare measurements :thumbup

    13. @A Wee Tiefling You're not alone! The moment I posted about Blissdhara in the local FB group, quite a lot of people went GO GO GO, haha.

There was an unexpected power interruption to just a select block of our condo last night (which unfortunately had to include our unit). While waiting for the power to return, what better way to keep yourself awake than to take doll photos using only powerbank-powered lights? :wiggle Really tho, I'm so happy with the way these two pose after fixing their strings.

    14. Hey all!

Anyone know of any clothing companies that make clothing to fit the new MGB body?

I was hoping Soom would fit, but their dolls are far too skinny!

      Height - 64cm with head
      Neck Circumference - 9cm
      Width of shoulder - 15cm
Length of shoulder to wrist - 19cm
      Chest Circumference - 30cm
      Circumference of Waist - 20cm
      Circumference of Hip -31.5cm
      Leg length - 38cm
      Thigh Circumference - 18cm
      Feet Length - 6.6cm

    15. The issue with MGB is that the shoulders are wide, I think this is largely due to the upper arm ball not sitting snuggly into the socket, and I still plan on drilling those sockets out for a better fit?? Other than that, EID clothes seem to fit well and some SID from Iplehouse.

If you search for these on Etsy, you will find a few makers of clothing in these sizes.

    16. @Muraki88

As @IngieBee just mentioned, the MGB's shoulders are often the make-or-break for tops. I've been able to make a sleeveless SID gown to fit on the Medium bust, but not sure about the fit of long-sleeved oufits. I was also able to make my girl wear thigh-high stretchy stockings from the Dollmore Model line (ambiguous "1/3" or "SD" sizes are almost guaranteed to NOT fit). I sew my own dolls' clothes, so I couldn't be of much help for what other preexisting sizes would be good. Good luck with your search!

    17. Welp now I'm depressed again because clothes shopping for curvy dolls is already painful

    18. If a female wrestler also was a space pirate

    19. I always thought this outfit was very pirate like?? They really have a lot of stuff on this site, I just have to compare SID and EID to MGB body dimensions??

    20. @IngieBee Hmmm...I always forget about SartoriaJ. Thanks for the link!

    21. Ugh! Still waiting on my Plaice's body and Leona head! I'm also getting a suit for my Nicholas in the order. I wonder if it's the clothes that are slowing down the order? I feel so impatient because after I painted Plaice's head, he was so cute, and I am dying to see him whole!

    22. Thank goodness it's a girl. I'm totally safe as I don't collect girls. She's lovely though.

    23. Aw shoot, she is adorable! I'm only safe because I have no money :...( LOL. I don't think she would fit in with Iplehouse FIDs, as her head looks larger to me and she would be much shorter - but she'd probably look good with the JIDs??? But I could be wrong, her head circumference ls about 6.2"

    24. Her eyes are bigger but her head is only slightly larger. Also I think she's 1/2 a cm taller than an athletic FID. I think she'd be cool next to an FID or raccoondoll especially because of the shrug shoulders. I like the hip/thigh mechs too. Not sure why her hands look so tortured?? I agree though she is super adorable :)
I already have two dolls that I'm waiting on so I DO NOT need to order her (yet).

    25. Wait, oh yah, JID are only 40cm!!! Oh boy.... You are right, @skyealloway !!

      • x 1
    26. So... if the girl is 46cm then a boy might be close to the 50-ish mark, right? If so, I'll need to back away slowly and not make eye contact if they should ever make a boy in this size as the 50 boys are my big weakness right now. Add in Impl's custom colour option and my hideous weakness for coloured resin and... yeah.

    27. Don't worry, @Iron_Dog , WHEN they come out, I'll tag you, PM you and stalk you until you look, LOL :wiggle:aninja:

    28. That's just mean, @IngieBee *thank you*

I'm good right now on dolls. I just had a new-to-me doll delivered today (Soom ID51 London who will be Sancire). I've also got Malachite (Impl Ziv) and Kyrieleison (Impl Teno) in production and a Dream Valley body for Kheima in production. I'm likely also going to be ordering Qayin's body (RS Mu) in the new year.

    29. @IngieBee You'rea problem child, aren't you ;)

(So glad I don't need anything else from IMPL at this moment. Want, yes. NEEEEEED? Nope. Not until Commander Luzzatto gets here)

    30. OMG! I just got an email from Impl asking for my phone number as my order is ready to ship! I placed my order October 9th and ordered a custom colour for Malachite and face-ups for both him and Kyrieleison (the free Teno I qualified for). Hopefully it won't take as long as my poor boy that recently came from Russia (EMS took 24 days as he was apparently travelling on a plane powered by a dozen underfed sparrows). If the dolly gods favour me, he'll arrive before Xmas. Not that I'll wait until Xmas to open him.....

    31. Whoo! My girly finally got in! I'm really impressed with the resin matching service. The head is a little peachier than the body, but that's an easy fix. xD amusingly she only likes the shirt that Impl gave as a gift. Rest of the outfit will probably go to another doll that it'd suit better.

:) say hi to Than, one of my shadow demons. She'll eventually get a face up and body blushing with a ton of tattoos.

    32. Aw, the little girl is cute! I love that she has the mobile body! But I don't do that size, at least YET, so I am safe.

      @Peneyofdeath Congrats!! She is lovely!

      • x 1
    33. @Peneyofdeath her head is super cute! Can't wait to see more of her

    34. Have you been talking to my sister???

      Congrats on shipping @Iron_Dog !!!

@Peneyofdeath nice shirt! It looks really pretty on her! (And as I posted earlier, she's cute and I can't wait to see what you make of her :)

    35. I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet (do they send one?) but they said my boys were done and ready to go. I was at an event at a local doll store yesterday and found a wig for Kyrieleison so yea! he won't be bald. Unfortunately they didn't have a black 8/9 wig for Malachite so he's not going to have a wig when he arrives *sigh*.

    36. I just got notice that my order will be another month :frownyblush: but such is life I guess. Congrats on finding a wig, @Iron_Dog :thumbup

    37. So I finally repainted my Bosco and I'm feeling fairly satisfied! He has joined the rest of the vamps but is a very very very nice guy. He needs clothes and a wig. But I'm still teetering on doing the story in old West setting (which would let me play more loosely with the clothing) or stick with the original Victorian.

    38. Awww! He looks like a very gentle guy. Good job on capturing that!

      • x 1
    39. @Thymeseer I love how you did the beard and facial hair. It really gives his face definition. I can recommend a few custom clothing shops if you're looking for clothes.

      • x 1
    40. @Thymeseer There is plenty of overlap between the "old west" and "Victorian." It's mostly whether you want to set it in a big city somewhere (either England or America) or out in the boondocks in America. Sounds interesting, either way!

      • x 1
    41. You really captured a nice thick bear, more like what my husband has than the stubble most people do, and his face really looks good with it :)

      • x 2
    42. @chalyss Thanks! I was trying to go for a softer, gentler expression. Glad that I succeeded!

@A Wee Tiefling I can hardly believe it's the same doll! Looking at his before and after is a bit of a ride. I'd love to see your recommendations. I'm trying to sew but it's not going...well.

@Audrina Mystique I think the significant overlap is what's making this choice so difficult. On one hand, big city intrigue, gaslight, running through cobblestone streets. On the other, cowboys and railroads and the fear of being hunted by something bigger than a coyote in the dark...

@IngieBee thanks! I started him off with stubble, but it just wasn't looking quite right. He needed a tad more shagginess

    43. @Thymeseer I wonder if you're familiar with Period Threads? I have a couple of outfits from Robin and they're fantastic. I commissioned a Late Medieval Huntsman costume with nothing but the body measurements and she made a perfect outfit. All the details look great.

      • x 2
    44. I can vouch for Robyn- she's amazing as a seamstress and just a person in general. Beautiful clothes, beautiful heart!

    45. I've seen her work and it's absolutely gorgeous! Great to hear from you both that she's wonderful to work with. While Christmas has definitely tapped out my funds for the year, I'm definitely going to keep her in mind. :3nodding:

      • x 1
    46. @Thymeseer Either of those ideas sounds very intriguing. Personally, I think it would be especially cool to see a juxtaposition between both of them. Which one is actually the most dangerous? Maybe not the one the main character expects.

    47. I keep forgetting to post here, despite lurking for some time. @Thymeseer I admire your patience painting those hairs! Hopefully he gets all clothed up soon, too. :D

Happy holidays from my female Impl hybrid (plus her mom and daughter)!

    50. Hi, my Leona on MGB arrived today and I am very grateful for the fast delivery (only 48h). I ordered small bust, but it looks so large and I wonder if it is supposed to be like that. =( Does anyone have pictures of the small bust? I am a bit depressed, cause I already have a 65 double jointed Supia body, whose breasts I don’t like at all, because they are so huge...

      • x 1
    51. No, it's not flat but is rather small. It looks like this. I'm really excited to see Leona, could you please post a picture?

Thanks for the update @chalyss !!
