IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 14

Sep 24, 2019

    1. You mean the new Star size body or MGB @AntarelNefertili ? Yah, I think the feet are all the same :) I've also gotten used to the lightbulb heads, LOL. At least the faces are well proportioned and it just results being hidden under wigs anyway it seems. I look at my fairyland sculpts, and they're just as bad, but kind of go to the back of the head. Of course they're not as realistic though. I do like that it helps their heads fit Monique wigs nice and snuggly too. (size 7-8 if anyone lurking wants to know)

Ugh, looking at Lydia, I almost want to buy another one :whee: I already have two, one that is a night elf, and the other who has a faceup by Angeltoast in their pink color. But I'd like a tan Lydia, LOL. I just won't be satiated, I always want more Lydias! LOL

    2. @IngieBee I'm honestly not sure yet. It's highly probable that I will order just a Delia head and see if it fits my MGB, scale-wise. If it does, then well and good. Otherwise, time to go body hunting (sounds wrong)! I just realized that Delia's downturned eyes and nose-to-face proportions are exactly what I needed, because she's meant to resemble her dad (my Granado Michael+Impldoll hybrid), who possesses those features. And LOL, with regards to having many of the same doll! I'm having that itch with another company's sculpt, but that's for Adhara. And Adhara already has two heads. I kept thinking, what the hell does she need more heads for? XD

Oh, I forgot that it was Adhara's birthday last Sept 14. She must have been mad at me, because I had a dream I was making this ugly birthday cake (blue-colored carrot cake that kept falling apart even with a ton of frosting). I like to think my other dolls gave her the celebration she deserves while I was sleeping, tho!

    3. At a certain point, women don't want to be reminded that they're getting older, LOL. She probably had a nice romantic evening with her Guรณrรฉn :)

    4. BTW usually Alice's Collection ( acbjd.com) has Impldoll's events posted, but they haven't posted the latest. I wonder why?

    5. BJD's are like the Borg... resistance is futile. You will purchase more despite all attempts (and logic) at doing otherwise.

I'm still resisting the doll purchase (not an Impl) that is singing it's siren song to me. I'm not sure how long I can hold out. Mad Dolly Brain is still making a VERY good case for it.

    6. @IngieBee I feel this way about Luts' Bory. I will not rest until I have a Bory in every size, if not colour and special edition. But Lydia's a cutie and if I could have a pretty lady sculpt just to wear pretty lady clothes, I'd have a Lydia too! But I'm trying to stick to the "only shell characters or important NPCs" rule. It's a bad rule. I should break it some time.

@AntarelNefertili I love Delia, though mine has the wrong faceup at the moment. Personally, I think she resembles Lauren Bacall and I plan to get her re-painted with more 1940s' makeup. And also, that pic of Adhara and Guoren is *chef's kiss* perfetto! Love the atmosphere you got with the lighting.

@Iron_Dog HAH! It's terrible. I'm trying to just buy new clothes and faces for the current crew I've got (seriously, there's a backlog of faceups and bald resin babies) and it's a trial and a chore. Why do I have to eat and pay rent? Why can't someone pay me to eat and live and I'll save my money for the dolls ;)

    7. @A Wee Tiefling I currently have 2 dolls who need face-ups but one will need to wait until he gets a body just in case there is some minor blush-to-match that needs to happen. I had initially put off the other face-up because of Covid and the challenges that has presented the mail system (although, truthfully, it's not too bad here in Canada and the artist is also in Canada). Additionally, I have another doll that I want to get on a different body as the current one (a Miro 60cm) is too beefy for his character.

Despite those things which are totally valid and should be taken care of before making another, unrelated to them, doll purchase, I'm circling a full doll and a head and trying really, really hard to NOT buy. And I found a wig I'd love to have on said struggling-against-the-doll-purchase but at least there, reason is holding firm as the wig is $212CAN+shipping and I just can't in good conscience do that (although the wig is beautiful and perfect both in looks and for the character).

I'm still waiting on my re-make Ziv but he'll be coming to me with a face-up, I have his wig, default outfit and I've made his eyes.

    8. Looks like a few of us would love to do what TeaPartyRevolution has done with her Lishes LOL Since I have so far been unable to make characters in my head, it's the pretties that I am drawn to with no rules to keep me under control. The thing that keeps me under control is 1. lack of money and 2. space, ROFLMAO.

I hate floating heads, and I currently have 5. NO! 6, as I have an incoming Leona! Why do I do this to myself?!!?!! I'm insane!!

@Iron_Dog I'm really trying not to be an @ss and encourage you to stray from the path, honestly I am. Just don't look below.

    9. So I recently got an Impldoll Azalea and my god she's so tightly strung I can't do anything with her! Or she snaps right back. I tried adding some slack but her legs droop and she cants stand. Is there as way around this? Help appreciated!

    10. @IngieBee I'm not a super fan of floating heads because of the "joy" of hybriding. I don't have a choice with Oleander (he of the Miro body) as he's an Angel Toast Crow head and there is/was no body made to go with him (irregular resin colour aside). Same deal with Qayin (BiDoll CS head) as he was a limited head for a BJD convention and no body was made for him. The head I'm contemplating went with a limited body and that body was only made for that run AND 8 years ago so... yeah.

Mad Dolly Brain is still saying buying the full doll & head is a perfect b'day gift to me since it was a big b'day. Rational Brain is cautiously agreeing, which is scary as hell. I know who they are, where they fit into my various dolly worlds and have tentative names for them. I think I might be a little bit doomed. I'm also kinda okay with that.

      • x 1
    11. I string most of my big dolls (all my dolls really) on the looser side with the thickest elastic I can stuff through the channels. They all can stand, and pose well, imo. No snapping back, no drooping legs

    12. Birthday? Did you say Birthday gift @Iron_Dog ? Well, then I have no trouble pushing you over the edge with a BUY! LOL. I'm one for instant satisfaction! And admittedly a very bad influence, LOL

I don't know what to say, @Riri'sdolls because I've never had trouble with moving my idol dolls. I've stuck a stick in the back of my Nicolas to make him slouch forward more, and hold it (he still hasn't stopped whining about the time I stuck a stick up his, you know what) Anyways, really, I wouldn't loosen them, as they will get looser over time as it is. Though mine are still doing well after a couple of years. Maybe I never got one so tight? I mean, these huge dolls do take some man handling, and caution not to get pinched, but that's kind of the reality of the hobby...? I don't think I'm being any help :( Sorry :(

      • x 1
    13. Yep. Turned 50 this month. I don't feel 50 and apparently don't look 50 (my son is frequently mistaken for my younger brother lol). I certainly don't act 50. Cautious Brain is saying don't do it because it would be a significant chunk of cash and would wipe out my dolly savings. With me now being unemployed (yea Covid), it makes sense to NOT make luxury purchases right now. But... Dolly Brain just gnaws at your resolve to Be Good, y'know?

      • x 2
    14. :( Stupid Covid!!! I'm feeling bad for being bad now :( . Not a good time I can tell. It's never a good time for me, but I've noticed a significant slowdown on DoA probably because the site is very addictive and makes you want to purchase new dolls. Stores are closed up everywhere here, looks like 2008 again, but in a much faster time frame :(

How about we celebrate the dolls we have at home, by giving them some love! I think I'm going to sort every floating head with a body that'll work and designate that as a shared body. And I'm going to NOT think about getting bodies for them until life gets better. My version of a hunger strike!

      • x 1
    15. I'll try to do this method, maybe some sueding god I hope my MGB body isn't like this. But I'll get around it.

    16. Oh no your poor boy, I don't blame him for that it's not a pleasant sensation. I'm gonna try some thicker elastic and see if that helps me but thank you!

    17. I have several floating heads I've had to do this with. In fact, my one Impledoll girl occasionally shares her body with a Peaks Woods head that represents her human self.

      • x 1
    18. @IngieBee In certain timelines, Adhara is actually over 80 (cos she supernatural). So I guess you're right, don't ask a lady what her age is! :XD: I thought I'd stick to my rule of NO FLOATING HEADS, but alas, it would seem that number will now reach four because I'm caving in and ordering a Delia head. A body of her own can wait. But really, who cares if Delia would have to temporarily share Adhara's body for nao?

@A Wee Tiefling What you mentioned about Delia's similarity to Lauren Bacall only made me want her more, d'oh! Oh, it was actually my first try taking a photo in near-total darkness, with the LED candles being the only source of light. I wasn't used to cranking up the ISO values like crazy. As per my IG post tho, that photoshoot has an, erm, more sinister side to it. (On a side note, at least I no longer have to worry about Guรณrรฉn's right leg being quite fiddly in certain poses -- thanks, RPG incarnation.)

@Riri'sdolls My MGB was strung pretty tightly too, but I've been able to make her stand on her own despite loosening her strings. I go the way of @Girrl and use thick elastic. She's still the most expressive of my dolls, despite the flaws in her shoulder engineering. Depending on the body, I also separate the leg elastics from the torso-neck elastic, to further alleviate snappiness. It certainly helped my Idolman FGB.

    19. Hey everyone, sorry if this seems random... I am thinking about getting an Impldoll Sicily but I'm on the fence. Does anyone have one of these girls? How do you feel about her? I'd love to see some photos, especially profile views and without a wig so I can get a better idea of what I'd be getting. I'm thinking of getting her on a model doll body but I'm not sure. Thank you!
P.S. Leona is really pretty, so if you have photos of her I'd like to see them just... because. :XD:

    20. She won't fit on the model body. The model body has a much smaller head neck. However, the Star body, although a big girl is awesome, IMHO. I have several. I'll show you a profile of my Lydia if that's helpful? Her body is the MGB, and it has a fault in that the shoulders kind of stick out, and it makes her too broad, but posing is amazing. The star is a real 65cm / 25.5" amazonian :) Love her, though, as this body, IMO, is a great poser, just tough to move, LOL

I love Sicily. I think she is inspired by Blade Runner, and Dayrl Hannah. I really want one too, but I've got to stop! I'm trying only to get boys as I have so many girls, and I almost never sell dolls :doh

      • x 1
    21. @Iron_Dog There's always the next major holiday, right? If there's no time-sensitive sale to buy the full doll now...

@AntarelNefertili Shoulder engineering flaws? Do they not hold in place or something?

      Also enjoying everyone's photos. :)

    22. @Valor I think, if I may speak up, it's that the sockets don't seem to be deep enough and in the end, the shoulders are super wide. I was going to try dremeling out the socket piece but like everything else, I'm slower than molasses to get anything done :(

I'm looking at my girl right now, and I'm pretty sure if I do that, I can shorten her shoulder width by at least 1.5 cm

    23. @IngieBee Just saw your post! Yeah, the shoulder width does seem more suited to a more muscular body.

    24. @Valor It's just as @IngieBee said -- those wide shoulders, and they could go only up and down; no front-back motion. The fashion-sized body shows how the MGB might look if the shoulder joints were shortened a bit, but it still has no forward-backward mobility. Indeed, I've made much more use of the neck joint than the shoulders so far, because my girl wears robes most of the time anyway. The shoulder width works for my character because she could land a sucker punch if she wanted to (at least, with her right hand), but it's pretty obvious why it would be a turn-off for others.

    25. @Valor The doll and head I'm eyeballing are 2nd hand so it's first come, first serve. I'm taking a chance in not pouncing now but the MP also seems a bit slow, most likely due to the uncertain situation of the world right now.

    26. @Iron_Dog Oh, it's not the Resinsoul mentioned in the other thread? *has been roaming threads in search of more dolls* No wonder you're having trouble then! Hope it turns out well for you.

More on-topic, I'm still considering whether or not I want to buy the body for my hybrid this year, or try for next year. I'm already looking at other dolls, too... :sigh

    27. @Valor No, the RS body I need is an always available thing so I'm not as grabby hands for it at the moment. One of his husbands is the Ziv that Impl is remaking and they said a couple more months for him to be completed and sent out so I'm not feeling super urgent about getting Qayin's body at the moment. I do have his other husband, Ji-Sun (SD Juhl), but I'm still not feeling the urgency to get Qayin his body this very instant (relatively speaking).

    28. I like the Star body too, but I need a more petite build for the character I have in mind. So if the neck is too big, does that mean it would fit but look bad? I may have to explore other options... Thank you for your help!

      • x 1
    29. Yes, the fit would be bad as the neck socket on the head would have a lot of gapping. That often limits the neck mobility too.

I recently tried out my Azalea on a more petite body (still tall, but slim), and the fit was good. Only thing needed would be sueding in the neck socket as the mobility wasn't the greatest. But the proportions were really nice!

    30. @ReniColi I have my Delia head on a Spiritdoll body and the fit is perfect! She's not exactly "petite" but she is less imposing than my muscular lady and she's in scale (smaller) with my Tony. Plus she poses so elegantly! Great hands!

      @Iron_Dog Happy Birthday!

@Riri'sdolls I'd say get help to restring and loosen it up a bit, see if that helps. I did Tony myself and though he's floppy for my preference he hasn't tried to knick me either.

@IzabethS Her eyes always get me!
      -----
      [IMG]

The legs are Tony's, but he's too big for the frame. I did get Kitten (Muscle Girl) to sit saiza very nicely. Delia is just behind her, and Dante flopping like a flounder on the dock into his muskoka chair.

      • x 1
    31. What size elastic did you use? I can't figure what would be too big...

    32. I'm getting that body and I can't waitttt

      • x 1
    33. I use 5mm. You can find it on dollmore (LINK) or if you want to get a bunch of it for cheaper, and don't care about the color, you can get spools of shock cord (same exact thing that dolls are already strung with) on Amazon, ebay, etc (LINK)

    34. ooooh, Shock chord it's called??? Thank you @Girrl because I used to find it at Joann's many years ago, but not since (at least 10 years past) And I just didn't know what it was called! Thank you for that :)

So I've been cradling my Plaice this evening, he is such a cutie, and has been waiting patiently for his body for over a year, and I'm getting super impatient now :( I so want to see him put together :( I just wanna cry :...(

On the other hand, I have an OT F65 on order, and I'm starting to see a relationship is going to form between them. Hey, I know it's neither interesting, nor deep, LOL, and it's probably based on the simple thought that they'd look good together, but I'm going with it. I want to see if this can't get my imagination going?!?

    35. @IzabethS Thank you for sharing the body comparison! It's good to know that one works, for those who are looking for a more slender body for their gals.

@IngieBee Bungee cord searches have also turned up good results, just don't get the neon-colored ones (unless of course, that's really your aim!). And, hang on there. *hugs* They really ought to put that high priority flag on your order. :o Hehe, I oh so understand the feeling of letting your imagination run wild just considering if this-and-that doll would look good with one that hasn't even arrived yet.

    36. I've paired up dolls I haven't even bought yet and am still waffling about buying so I can cast no stones anywhere.

      • x 2
    37. LOL, My Nicholas hasn't been paired, I just realized because he is such a geek. A loveable geek, but kind of a jerk who says the wrong things all the time, LOL.

I realized this a while ago. So personalities are coming through, which is progress :):thumbup

Dylan is young, adorable and goofy and the fairyland girls all have half an eye on him. Eclipse isn't there yet, and I have an OT Susu head from DFa coming from an event over a year ago who will be getting the 72cm RS body. I have no idea who he'll be though.

      • x 2
    38. @IngieBee Sounds like Adhara will get along pretty fine with your Nicholas. While not a geek per se, she tends to say things bluntly with no hint of sugarcoating. :P (But I guess she has a different sort of charm, else her love interests would have ditched her a long time ago.)

By the way, has anyone tried inquiring from Impl if they can do a custom mishmash of doll parts? Errr, well, not really a mishmash. But I really like the leg mobility of the MGB, and was wondering if I could hybrid them with the regular torsos and arms of the Starwoman SGB.

      • x 1
    39. If it can be done, I bet Impldoll would do it, @AntarelNefertili . They have always been accommodating in the past :)

    40. I finally put these jointed hands on my doll. They match the resin perfectly, but you can't see that against her face which has blushing, etc... (another reason not to fuss over perfect resin match! LOL) So what do you think?

These are Legend 1/3 Male Jointed Hands (Long Nail, No Vein)

I don't like small hands on my dolls (sorry Darling Daughter, yours are cute, but I like big hands on my dolls!!) Anyways, they are very slightly wider than Impl hands, and of course the wrist ball is wider, but it fits really well! I'm going to try an on-body manicure??!!

    41. I can count to ONE
      I can count to TWO
      I can count to Three
I can only count to FOUR!!!!!

LOL, now I remember why I haven't put his jointed hands on yet. He is SO FREAKING TIGHT! You can see I damaged his right wrist a bit, but it's not that bad and could easily be sanded out which I'm not going to do , LOL

Legend 70cm male jointed hands with veins :D No long nails.

I have a bunch of ResinSoul jointed hands from the 1/3 boy collection to put on my other girls, they're perfect for IMpl girls :)

    42. Aaaaaand continuing the theme of talking to myself, and tagging @AntarelNefertili , I just took delivery on over 5 lbs of white heat resistant hair, to be dyed as I see fit, and turned into wigs. But FIRST! I have two types of red, and I will be mixing them in my first attempt at making a lace wig. I'm not so sure about it though, as it seems like human hair, a bit thick for dolls :( But now that I have it, I'll either be making wigs for my dolls or for myself, LOL Just checked it against a doll wig I like, and it actually seems the same, but I think I need to get some anti static spray!

I also have to remember my hair is half as thick as normal hair :doh it's so dang thin!!! I actually measured it with the kids at a robotics class, I think you can weave with my hair and call it a luxury breed of wool, ROFLMAO

OK, I just compared it to a lock of The Doll Planet hair, which is nylon. That stuff is lovely and slinky and super shiny which isn't terribly natural looking but indeed gorgeous. The stuff I bought is less smooth for sure, and looks like real hair. I guess the big question will be, will it lay flat on the head, or at least almost flat, yet take to different directions so I can style the wig differently on a whim? We shall see?? I'm still waiting for the lace fabric to arrive :/

    43. @IngieBee What are the skintones of your sweeties again? Honestly it's good news for me if the hands' wrist balls don't sink into the joint, because it aids in mobility. And, my rehomed Impl body has nicks on the wrists and ankles for the same reason -- how did they manage to string these guys so tightly?!

Regarding the hair, congrats on getting your order! My notes on wigmaking may get spammy, so I'm enclosing it in a spoilers tag which people can just skip if they want to.

As far as thickness goes, I think even mass-produced doll wigs use the same type of synthetics as human cosplay wigs, hence they should be of similar thickness (at least the hair extensions I dismantled to obtain Guรณrรฉn's grays). If scale is really what you're going for, mohair or alpaca/angora may prolly be more up your alley. Whether the hair will go flat or not is dependent on the knotting direction. The reason I've started to ventilate my wiggies spiral-outwards from the crown is to avoid excess pouf, and yet provide enough variety in direction to still look relatively natural.

    44. @IngieBee Oh yay, I love seeing jointed hand comparisons...it inspires me to look into getting hands for my Larges.

    45. @AntarelNefertili thank you for those notes! Answers my question!, LOL. Both of these dolls are what is now called pink resin. My Eclipse, a modified Nicholas by Eastern light Studios/ Impldoll is in dollshe bronze and I want Another set of hands for him but have no idea how to go about matching the color :doh. Blushed hands require such care in handling, they'll look scratched and worn in no time, ugh! I wish Impldoll would make a few sets of poses for their magnetic system! Why has it taken them so long?! The hands Impl idol boys come with are not terrible, but do not look in any way relaxed. I'm thinking of just sculpting my own for Eclipse, and just swap out poses as I need them as I have all the stuff needs from my eye making.

@A Wee Tiefling thank you, glad you two came in and kept me company a bit!!! LOL

      • x 1
    46. @IngieBee Do you have a "nail polish" color planned, or are you doing a more traditional French manicure?

Also, what about using cheap conditioner (basically all silicones) for synthetic fiber detangling/anti-tangling/anti-static purposes? Maybe a diluted spray would work on the loose locks? That would dilute the preservatives too, but that'd probably only be a problem if the bottle is unused for a long time. Maybe try to stick to white conditioners if using as a leave-in...

    47. @Valor I would like to attempt a french manicure, but then again, this doll is rather a dressy dresser and she may need something fancier. She is my DnD character who is an Aasimar sorlock (sorcerer/warlock) and she does dress flashy (or will when I get off my bum and make her outfit, LOL. I've just recently been inspired by recycled knits which I googled, and I'm thinking of raiding the donation pile from my kids :D

    48. Maybe a non-traditional French manicure, if you want a fancier version? Instead of soft pink, something like dark purple, and instead of white tips, blood red, for example. Talk about a tiny surface to work on though. :sweat

    49. Yah, and I'm not that good! LOL @Valor

    50. @IngieBee Thanks for the info on the skintone! My upcoming Delia head is in pink skin, so at least I know there's something that will somehow match. I also forgot to note: when taming frizz, I prefer to use fabric conditioner as opposed to hair conditioners geared for humans (although I also use the latter in a pinch). Coupled with a quick boiling water dunk, I've been able to get shampoo-commercial-worthy locks that could afterwards be curled and heat-styled if needed.

    51. Thanks @AntarelNefertili , I do know the trick of fabric softener! If my wigs are old, and need cleaning, I usually use dishwashing liquid (dawn) then fabric softener, sometimes a soak, then shake it out outside, and the wig is usually like new after a gentle combing. I'm still waiting on the netting which may take until mid October :(

Does anyone know if EMS still suspended it's regular services? I'm thinking that's why my stuff hasn't been sent, though other people have been getting their orders, so no, probably not. Dang it's nuts! I just wish I knew why my dolls are delayed, even if it's just , oh we lost your orrder! Because it's just so dang weird! I've been talking to them since April or earlier about my order. Even if they lost it, they've had 5 months to recreate it. It's so freakin weird!

    52. I've read that fabric softeners have animal-fat-derived ingredients - presumably the liquid ones being used here. Does that not cause any problems? I suppose they might be processed enough to not act like oils on synthetics, plus their other added anti-static ingredients. Sounds like it smells nice and "clean clothing"-like though, after rinsing out.

    53. are you referring to lanolin? (which is grease from wool, btw) if so, that's not an animal-fat-derivative, but it is a sebaceous oil

    54. @Valor , It looks like the one I use does (dawn) according to this article I just looked up which says one of the ingredients is a version of fat mixed with ammonia and chloride? I never heard of this before. Of course fats are used to make soap, something which you wouldn't automatically assume is fatty yet comes from a chemical reaction of fat and lye. Fat can come from plants or animals and whichever ones they use, it is undoubtedly chemically changed, just as fat is used to make soap with lye, the fabric softeners are ultimately a combination of chemicals that bring desired results to fibers, in this case, synthetic fibers. So, yah, unless you have a moral reason for not taking a risk that the fat comes from an animal, which I can't find, and is undoubtedly hidden and needs to be researched deeply to discover what kind of fat Dawn uses, I don't think the fact that fat or oil are used in production alone indicates it will leave fatty material deposits on the fibers. The fat was chemically changed with the ammonia and chloride or whatever :D And it does give great results :)

I have to get the kind without a scent as my husband is allergic to most fragrances, and I don't want to listen to him complain!!! LOL (really, his sinuses go nuts and he has pain, so I don't blame him)

LOL @Girrl , I bought a little tub of lanolin to do something with, I think I wanted to use it to wash my wools, and other things I must have read you can do with it, so it arrives, and I'm thinking.... how do I use this in my wool baths? ROFLMAO. Why did I buy this stuff again?? LOL

    55. I mean, under capitalism there is no such thing as truly ethical consumption. But still, good to know about soaps and resin or wigs, not that I plan to ever make my own wigs (I'll pay good money for someone more talented, thank you!)
@IngieBee I think EMS now lists where it will do limited service. I've had things from Asia (South Korea) to North America (Canada) recently via EMS so they might be opening up services again.
also, do fancy nails like Valor suggested! It's so much fun to look up nail trends online!

    56. I'll give it a go, @A Wee Tiefling :D. Great idea to look at nail trends! Gonna do that next!

Regarding ethical sources, FYI , block chain technology , like that used in Bitcoin, is being used to authenticate origins of materials and products. Someday, we may have efficient and real verification of where our products come from. I find that super interesting. The world has been getting smaller and more cohesive every year, and I find this time to be alive the most stimulating time period in history. I used to thing this era was boring, no more flights to the moon etc... (I was born in the early 60s) but I realized I was so wrong. If we can survive each other in this global world, and stop the wars, we could actually achieve Star Trek like civility, I'm sure of it, or I'm a dreamer, LOL But these growing pains suck :D

    57. Not lanolin, but the tallow-based ammonia chloride stuff (on mobile right now). I'm more worried about its potential to attract pests, which means that it might affect resin (also my nearby wool stash). Animal-fat-based soap, for example, is typically made with extra, unreacted fat (super-fatted) for safety margins/comfort. Then again, (fragranced) dryer sheets are suggested as pest deterrent, so the liquid's probably fine.

@IngieBee Apparently you mix in a bit of lanolin in warm water to soften it, and then soak clean wool in the water to relanolinize. It's also really good for dry patches of skin! Messy, though.

Also, for nails, try looking up using nail templates and such? Some nail artists use Elmer's glue for easy peel-off cleanup around the nails, which I believe is also resin-safe.

    58. More cool ideas, thank you @Valor, I like that, as 1. I don't think I'll ever be able to get those hands off again, thus spraying them with sealer or even as a base coat is asking for trouble on the doll. 2. I never really liked jointed hands when they were blushed because it seemed to me that the joints were enhanced rather than disappearing. And 3 . Using Elmer's glue wood resolve all these problems by protecting the resin if I paint on top of the glue. Thanks for the great idea!

Edit: oops I see you mean to use the glue around the nails to get a nice clean line that's another good idea thank you!

    59. @IngieBee Use as "peel-off basecoat" is a thing, actually, sold in little polish bottles of probably-only-slightly-modified glue. I don't know how effective the glue would be as protection for acrylic paint on resin though, not to mention any missing of the protected spots when you paint. It's not very durable either (possible pro for changing things up).

Also, for any readers unfamiliar with the brand, it's white PVA-based glue that dries clear and is easily peeled off, not wood glue or contact cement or anything. Typically used by young children, since it's non-toxic.
