IMPL dolls 64cm Star, 58cm Model and 72cm Idol line Discussion thread Part 4

Feb 5, 2014

    1. that is a gorgeous, artistic photo Dobraya Vedyma :D

WOW SapphireStargazer :o he looks seriously beautiful :aheartbea and that look on his face - it's like 'yeah, I always knew I was meant for this kind of greatness' :XD:

ugh - today's ADAD challeng is '10' :? Although I confess every daily prompt makes me look that way LOL

    2. Hi everyone:) I was hoping someone here might be able to help me.

I recently purchased a Asleep Eidolon body in white skin, would anyone happen to know how close a match it would be to IMPL's white resin?

    3. elve, thanks very much! It took a couple of tries for me to figure out how to attach the wings, but finally... :aangel: Gabriel seems very pleased with himself since this turn of events. ;)
hmm...I actually thought today's ADAD was one of the easier ones. I'll confess that both 'box' and 'sky' had me thinking hard about what to do. It was actually the butterfly wings I used in the 'sky' picture (i.e. part of Grace's Halloween costume from last year) that finally helped me figure out how to attach Gabriel's wings. lol

I've been a little obsessed with intentional lens flare lately, and I like some of the effects that I can get from shooting into - or almost into - the sunlight. Some people might call this bad photography, but I think it creates a kind of dramatic effect. Now...if it would only stop being windy where I live, maybe my dolls could have a good hair day once in a while...:doh

    4. SapphireStargazer wow! Stuning photos! I think the lens flare fits very good for Gabriel :aheartbea He looks so satisfied and peacfully.
It´s a common mitstake to judge lens flare photography. I really like it. It gives pictures a very thoughtful and romantic touch

    5. SapphireStargazer: Those wings are gorgeous. How did you attach them if you don't mind me asking? I have... 3 dolls with wings (OT for this thread) and 2 of the 3 are ones that I had made/bought for the characters and they are a right PITA to get on. The feathered ones (for an MSD) are easier to deal with than the resin ones (for an SD) both with the attachment of and the doll being able to stand with them on. However, you can see the attachment straps for both those wings and I find that annoying. The other doll is an RS Pixiu and his wings aren't a problem *grins*.

    6. Thank you Uminari! I think you're right about how intentional lens flare photography is often misjudged. I think the angle of the light has a lot to do with the mood and tone of a photo, and you can get a lot of cool effects just by playing with angles and where the light is coming from.

Iron_Dog, thanks! The wings are attached with clear silicone. I tried attaching them with magnets, but I found that the magnets would not stay on the wings themselves as the attraction to the magnets on his back was too strong and kept pulling them free. I attached a piece of clear plastic to the middle section of the wings (just so the silicone wouldn't get stuck in the feathers) and that seems to be working just fine. They're easy to reposition...and they're easy to remove, which is good, because Gabriel and Zach currently share this body. These wings can also be folded and the silicone still seems to hold them nicely when they're folded back. As you can see in the photo I posted on the last page and also in some photos in my flickr, Gabriel has no trouble standing with his wings on. These originally had shoulder straps but I cut them off because they looked tacky and kind of stupid. I wish I could get these wings in black as well, because Zach now really seems to want his own. :XD:

    7. Regarding the so called lizard boy, well actually i like merely the head cape, seems more to me a mohawk stylized hairstyle rather then merely a sort of mutant thingy, you know :sweat ?
Anyway i'm not impressed by the face sculpt and i've told already that actually my interest in new impldoll male sculpts is very low at the moment :sigh

    8. The more I look at Lizard Boy, the more he reminds me of Blank Reg from Max Headroom. Anyone remember that show from the 1980s? I still love it and have watched that series probably at least 5 times. The tag line for that show was "20 Minutes Into The Future..." So, who knows? Maybe somebody, somewhere will make a character doll. ;)

Meanwhile, because there's not much that's new and exciting with me right now, Gabriel and I were being silly while I was working on my ADAD challenge for today. He loves his M&Ms. They are clearly his favourite candy. The only dilemma he has is which colour to eat first. :XD:

    9. SapphireStargazer: I know the silicone trick wouldn't work with the resin wings I have as they are quite heavy (probably 3/4's of a pound). They were originally supposed to be stuck on with heavy duty magnets (I don't think they're rare earth ones) on the wings as well as on this... attachment part that came with them. I might need to see about doing some sort of choker/harness thing to get them to stay on.

The MSD wings might work with the silicone thing. My only problem then would be how to dress Jaiseki....

    10. Iron_Dog I just can't imagine trying to attach SD-sized resin wings with anything but a harness arrangement, unless they've got some pretty large magnets. Did the wings come with the doll or were they ones that you made? Gabriel's wings are quite heavy too, owing to their size, but the silicone seems to work. I can dress him too. What I did for that was to put a piece of tape on his shirt between his shoulder blades so that the silicone doesn't end up sticking to the fabric. It only works with fairly tight shirts, of course...loose ones change position too much. :doh I think I've found a set of wings that might work for Zach too. They're the same width as Gabriel's but they're about 5cm shorter. :)

Best of luck with your wing-attaching projects!

    11. The wings were made by a sculptor that has since been banned here on DoA (and which I think has disappeared/closed the company). I'm not even sure I could post pics of my doll wearing them. They're not re-casts but the sculptor was apparently doing re-casts of other things so the entire production house got banned.

The doll is fine for DoA but he was a limited (38 of him were made) and is OT for this thread. He's also a smaller SD and the wings are quite large, which also leads to the balance issues.

    12. I love the new vamps, but I agree about the ears. I like my vamps um.. unpointy. :)

I have Chapman.. and I loooove him. I really want a Marcus, but with my funds, not possible. But a girl can dream, right?

I tend to love the Implmen more than any other dude dolls I see, aside from Doll Leaves, but Impl pose much better than Doll Leaves (I have an SD girl and she cannot stand on her own, no matter what I do boo!)

So, I think that Impldoll is really becoming my favorite bjds. I like the Iplehouse ladies though.

    13. Well just in case ImplDoll offer a very confortable layaway plan, try to ask them on their Q&A usually are very friendly and will work with you for a solution, Marcus is really goodlooking and you're right about pose ability so fare all that have IdolMale said nothing but great things about range of pose of their bodies!

    14. Marius wanted to say hello! (Impl Chapman)

    15. Siccah he's very handsome, i think i never see this mold before he looks great!

    16. Hi Marius! *waves*
I always enjoy seeing him, Siccah. Chapman is a great scuplt and Marius is certainly no exception. It's too bad that IMPL has discontinued this one. Chapman and Karen were two of the first IMPL sculpts I ever saw. It was those two that attracted me to IMPL in the first place.

Gabriel and Élise wanted to say hello too. It seems she's forgiven him. ;)
This is my "A Doll A Day" challenge photo for today, shot with my camera's monochrome setting. I prefer to shoot directly in black and white rather than to desaturate the photos afterwards in an editor. Sometimes colour doesn't translate well into black and white in post-processing. Anyway, I'm really pleased with how this photo turned out, so I felt like sharing it. :)

    17. Thank you. :) I am very happy to have had the chance to get him. He's what attracted me to the IMPL dolls as well. Every boy I look at is either IMPL or Doll Leaves.. and I will more than likely get another IMPL :) I do believe that they still have his head available on IMPL.

I ordered a new wig for him, but now, I have to sell it as he hates it lol.

    18. I like the colour of that wig on him but the style of the darker one does seem to suit him better. As for the Chapman head, it does seem to be available if you use the search function on the IMPL site to find it, but it's not listed with the other dolls or with the option parts. Full dolls of Chapman, Bobby, Ariel and Karen show up in a search too, but when you click on them it just returns you to the main page of the site.

    19. Here is Marius with his beloved Wynter. ♥

    20. Siccah; Your Marius is a lovely boy. :thumbup What sculpt and company does his lady friend come from?
One of my older Impldolls, (also purchased 2nd hand) is a Bosco, that I named Barry Fleischman. I'm very fond of him, as well as Impldoll Eugene, my prickely little Avatar. I know, I know, I need to take and post pictures. (Maybe I'll do an Impledoll Family group photo one of
      these days.)

Sapphire Stargazer; We are so happy for Gabriel, now that he has his wings, and wish to congratulate him and Elise on their expected little one. Now that she has finally told him!
Drake was shaking in his boots for a few minutes, after looking at their photos on your Flicker.
He seemed to be nervous for Gabriel. (And slightly in shock over the wings.):aeyepop:

I managed to survive my grand daughter's Graduation, even though those rotten auditorium folding chairs about killed my back. I've been so wrapped up in family stuff and sick and injured friends lately, that I haven't been able to do anything with my dolls. I'm hoping things will quiet down soon, so I can get back to my hobbies.

Everyone, please keep up your spam. I love it all!:3nodding:

    21. Grouchy Gnome: She's an Angel of Dream Qian. :) I also have two Doll Leaves (Emily 1/3 and Amara 1/4)

    22. Siccah - Marius and Wynter look adorable together! :aheartbea I love seeing dolly couples. :)

Grouchy Gnome, glad to hear you survived the folding chairs and your granddaughter's graduation! Those chairs aren't good for anyone, in my opinion. I hope your two friends are doing better. My nephew had his second eye surgery this week. It seems no one can escape the frailties of the human body...
lol...Drake feeling nervous for Gabriel is a first! ;) Truth be told, Gabriel is quite nervous on his own behalf. He's beyond pleased, but he's not quite sure what to do. He's been on his absolute best behaviour lately and has been treating Élise as if she's fragile (which she seems to like at the moment, but which I'm sure will frustrate her sooner rather than later). Élise, meanwhile, is taking advantage of the situation and getting away with doing whatever she wants. :XD:

Yeah...I've been on a black and white photography kick lately.

    23. @ Sapphirestargazer: Wow, I did not really expect such news! Congratulations to Élise and Gabriel! Gabriel, don't worry, you will get used to being a daddy.
May I introduce one other character who has to do bodysharing with Thor. Steve Rogers / Captain America:

    24. Marius is a cutie Siccah - I really like the Oriental look to Chapman's sculpt - Strangely he's still listed on Alices Collections, but then so is Heloise robot, and impldoll have her down as sold out, so I don't know what's going on there really!

Lovely atmospheric shot SapphireStargazer - I really enjoy looking at your photos :aheartbea

Grouchy Gnome I hope you get a 'dolly day' ASAP - I find it very calming and therapeutic to just say 'stuff the chores' and spend the day with my dolls, which is what I did yesterday - ALLLLL day! :XD: No pics of Richard (my Tony) though - so many dolls, so little time *_* Must tackle my blinkin' garden today - all that rain and sun has turned it into a jungle :sweat Or as I prefer to see it 'a haven for wildlife....which is good, right? If it wasn't South-facing I'd take Richard out there to help me, but it's either POURING with rain, or blazing sunshine, neither of which are good for his delicate skin (or mine!) Not to mention he still has no shoes - I really must get onto that problem ASAP

Ipledrearmer WOW - Captain America looks brilliant :D That wig is perfect - did you have to make it yourself? I've never seen one that style for sale - love it!

    25. Ipledreamer that's a very clever method to make a modern wig! Thanks for the tutorial :daisy

    26. Wow Marius is gorgeous, and Wynter such a cutie, thanks for sharing Siccah.

    27. $avage Thank you so much! I love love love him.. and Wynter lol.

    28. ahhh Ipledreamer he looks awesome and that photo is fabulous! :aheartbea That wig is simply amazing and looks very masculine. I love it! Also, thanks for that tutorial. I'm not very good at things like that, but I would love to try it sometime when I have lots of time and I'm feeling very patient. :)

It basically rained all weekend, so I didn't get to do everything I wanted to do outside. Basically, I was horrendously lazy about my inside work and spent a good chunk of Saturday watching anime. (I was very disgruntled not to be able to finish my yard work). I did manage to take some pictures, though I am not a fan of indoor lighting on dark days. The lighting is absolutely atrocious in my home office, where Gabriel's room is; however, the poor lighting really worked for this shot. Élise was tired and she wanted to take an afternoon nap, but she didn't want to be in the room all by herself. Gabriel is always willing to cuddle, though. ;)

    29. awwww so he's forgiven then SapphireStargazer? :XD: I guess once you're pregnant you haven't got much choice - poor Elise, I know how that feels! I love her little 'maternity' dress :aheartbea

    30. She's decided to forgive him. ^^ He really is very regretful over his behaviour. Since it's really out of character for him to behave like that in the first place, she believed him when he told her what happened and how sorry he is. I think they still have some issues to work out, but neither one of them wants to give up on the best thing that's ever happened in either of their lives. :) Élise says thank you for the nice comment on her little top/dress, too. It's actually a dress for an 18" play doll, taken in a little bit to accomodate her tiny waist. ;) It really does look like a maternity top, even though that wasn't what I had in mind when I decided to try some OG doll clothes on her. Some of the 18" doll clothes just didn't work, but I thought this one was adorable on her. My OG doll isn't getting this one back now. :XD:

    31. Hello All!; Good grief! Miss a couple of days, and this thread goes wild. :dance Lots of new pictures, and helpful information!
I'm still waiting for our local weather to stabilize a bit before spraying heads. We are still having spots of rain and sun broil intermixed.
Elve and SapphireStargazer, I sympathize with your weather vs. yardwork problems. Our "June Gloom" here is overcast and damp-ish air with threats of rain, so.....no outdoor head spraying for me today. I have hope for tomorrow. Sapphire, I agree with Elve about the "maternity top", that's exactly what it looks like, and it's pretty. Some times clothes stealing from other dolls works out well. (I am very acquainted with that little trick. Hee hee.);) My only dolly time last week, was spent trying clothes on dolls to see what fit who, and making a list of who needs what. (Try saying that 3 times, fast!) I really want to take a couple of group pictures, so I'm trying to get my subjects ready for the attempt. For some reason that doesn't frighten me as much as taking many single shots, and I want to try out the panorama setting on my camera.
Ipledreamer; That's a great photo of your Captain America! I really like him, and your tutorial was wonderful. Thank you! :love I can't wait to see how you are going to make his costume.

    32. Grouchy Gnome, I remember that weather pattern well from my 3 years living on the west coast. I enjoyed the mild winters, but spring weather could sometimes be frustrating because if it being so mercurial. At least here on the east coast we can predict (sort of) what the weather is going to do a few days ahead of when it actually happens. They were calling for rain from Friday-Monday, with clearing skies this afternoon, and that's exactly what happened. Of course, seeing how this is Prince Edward Island, we're now also getting the post-rainstorm high winds. :doh This naturally means no outside dolly photos, because with the wind like it is today, it's just not safe for them...not even for the small sturdy ones. :(
LOL... I started trying 18" doll clothes on Élise mostly because the poor girl has practically no everyday clothing and she can't even borrow from any of the other resin folk because she's the only one her size. She and I went on a bit of a shopping spree a little while ago, but nothing has arrived yet. Anyway, just for fun I decided to see if OG clothes would fit. the little pink top was a keeper. ;) And I do agree with you and elve; it is definitely a maternity top now, although that didn't even cross my mind initially. :XD: Élise is quite satisfied with that, it seems. :daisy
Incidentally, on the topic of 18" doll clothes, one of the OG shirts and one pair of denim trousers I have here actually fit Gabriel, which was a little shocking. I doubt he'll be wearing the shirt (pink, red & tangerine orange stripes) but he may wear those denim pants (shorts on him!) this summer.

In other dolly-related news, I may have found a body for Zach. :D I just hope it's still around when I get paid... :doh

    33. Sapphirestargazer, that's really good news! I am looking forward to seeing more of Zach. Weather-wise...it's also not really great here. Yesterday it was a bit dampy, and today rain is on the menu. Anyways, our plants need it, as it was quite dry.

    34. Would like to see more of both Siccah!Feel free to share pics as much as you wish here!

    35. well there is 'trouble in paradise' today - Elodie (dollzone Stramonium) and Richard (impldoll Tony) have had their first disagreement! Now sitting rather awkwardly together, not speaking (although I think they both really wish it had never happened) What was it over? I don't know - maybe she didn't like his shirt LOL - He's as baffled as I am - women can be so moody sometimes.....The drama unfolds here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...monium-impldoll-Tony)&p=10868820#post10868820

    36. I saw your other ADAD challenge photo on this theme, elve, and it definitely looked like Richard was confused about why Elodie was upset. The poor things...they really do look awkward in this picture. Hopefully they'll work it out soon! I must say, your photography is coming along really well!

This was from the set of photos that went along with my ADAD challenge yesterday. Gabriel and Élise were having a difficult day too, but for different reasons than Richard and Elodie.

    37. Marius's friend came today. He's a Resinsoul Feng. His name is Teddy (As in Teddy Lupin.. I'm a Harry Potter nerd).

    38. Hello All; Local forcast says high 70's to low 80's, partial clouds, to full sun. Tomorrow, I spray heads! Today I got one of my headless characters all dressed except for his long, black, duster coat. Which I have 0 chances of finding, so will probablly have to sew, if at all possible.

What's with all the upsets and illness with the crews, Elve & Sapphire? True or fake? Or as Drake would say, (in his inimitable style),
      "WTF is goin' on?" :sneaky

The Fangg family is almost ready for their group photo. Only have to come up with the right wigs for Euthanasia and her sister Morbidia, and the rest of the clothing for Morbidia's husband, Dr. Strad Ruslan. Even the twins are deciding what favorite toy or pet they want with them in the photo. Yes, photo days are coming up quickly.

Sylvie Anne still has her name. She hasn't found a new one yet that she likes any better. She IS getting more attention from Drake lately, however. When he yells for a beer, she has been delivering it on a tray, wearing skimpy cocktail waitress outfits. He definitely has been noticing!:wiggle
she says she might as well go to work for real, at least she'd make good tips.:XD:

Siccah: Marius and his friend are looking good! My (Bosco,) Barry Fleischman, says to say "Hi!"

    39. Wynter and Marius spam, anyone?

    40. Congrats on your Feng, Siccah! He and Marius look great together. I also adore that photo of Marius and Wynter. hehe Wynter's shoes are really cute. :)

Hooray for the weather finally turning nice in your area, Grouchy Gnome! I hope it really is nice and you get to spray your heads. It was raining quite steadily here today...not that it stopped me and Noé from going outside to play (and doing a fairly significant photo session). ;) Gabriel stayed inside where it was warm and dry. He dislikes rain and was content to snuggle with Élise in their room and read a good book. As for the illness, Gabriel would swear he was really sick, but nobody else was buying that. The theory of nearly everyone around here is that he's just doing it for attention. (Gabriel: What? I wouldn't do that! :aangel:)
I'm really looking forward to finally meeting the Fangg family! :D
My boys say they're not surprised Drake is taking more notice of Sylvie when she wears her waitress outfit. They all kind of perked up at the mere idea of that. :XD: Élise suggests that Sylvie might indeed enjoy going to work. She says Drake might appreciate Sylvie more if she were around less. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, she insists.

So now that Zach might be getting his own body sooner rather than later, he's agitating for me to get him more clothes of his own. He also wants motorcycle boots...which I'm searching for in his size. Anyone know where to get EID sized motorcycle boots?

    41. dollmore maybe SapphireStargazer? They seem to have a lot of big dolls, so I guess they may have shoes for them? Love your photo - poor chap is obviously suffering from that 'sympathetic morning sickness' thing, bless him - oh well it's all good practice for Elise :XD:

Meanwhile my couple are all loved up again - all is forgiven and forgotten (till next time LOL) I love this photo - it makes me smile - and I never realised I was such an old romantic at heart! (guess what my pic will be for tomorrow's ADAD Sapphire?)

    42. Regarding dollmore shoes: I know not really much about Idol ankles, but for Iple's EID ankles, the Dollmore shoes were mostly too narrow to pass. Or at least this information was given in the respective Iplehouse thread. Even despite being long enough for the foot itself. Therefore, I would at least be very careful with unlaced boots. Just my 2 cents.

    43. Hi I think it's time to open new thread - number 5 :)
