The new vamps are interesting. I like. Impldoll deserves more attention then it gets.

Uminari, I agree with mostly all you have said. John and Deborah are gorgeous, but I don't know why they have ears like that. I am not a big fan of vampire dolls, although I don't think they are scary or anything. I would want both of them immediately if they were "human" sculpts. Gnaeus is still my favourite, but these two would be on my wish list in a heartbeat if not for those teeth.

Also, I think it's awesome that somebody asked you which Iplehouse sculpt Malik is! LOL! That just goes to show that Impl can compete with Iplehouse any day. Plus, I agree with you about the bodies. I would choose Impl body over Iplehouse every time. I really didn't like the body of the Iplehouse doll I had. The range of motion of the Iplehouse body isn't that great compared to Impl.

Uminari - Same with me. ^^ Iplehouse EID Kamau was the one I really wanted, but it was the posing of the body more than the price that stopped me. That, and the fact that I wasn't sure I would like a large doll as much as I imagined. As it happens, I love my large boy! My grail doll is also a large one (Dollmore Ipsae) and now that I know I really do like large dolls, I am going to order her this year. But I agree...Iplehouse costs way too much for the product that they offer. What you get from Iplehouse is not worth the money in my opinion. Even if Impl puts their prices up a little bit, it is still a better deal.

 

oh new thread! well I definitely prefer bigger dolls, but for some reason not in love with my Marcus any more - although I prefer everyone else's Marcus LOL - I am unfaithful to mine! I have 5 big dolls on my wishlist at the moment, 2 of them impldolls - I am not totally convinced about Sally though, as I need to see her face more - I guess I'm secretly hoping they bring out another girl I like better! Sylvia as a boy with a Star body though I do like - He'll be called Rupert And then to the difficult questions of resin colour and faceup - I almost wish they had less choice - it would be easier!

 

Uminari, your story sounds a lot like mine! When I joined the hobby, I thought I could only like SD dolls. My first one was an SD doll which was Elfdoll K, and unfortunately I found that I really did not like him at all. The real problem with Caiden (Elfdoll K) was that I had no experience back in 2009 when I first started, and I did not realize his potential. I had him up for sale for nearly a year, but it seemed that nobody wanted him. Just recently, I made up my mind that I was going to fix him up and keep him after all. My favourite size is MSD and most of my collection is the 1/4 size. Similar to you, I haven't found another large doll yet that satisfies me so completely in this hobby like Gabriel does. Beautiful posing, nicely sculpted body, sweet and gentle face...everything.


elve - I think it's really interesting to know about different people's preferences. I think Sylvia is going to make a great boy. I have a blank pink Abagail head that was my "apology gift" from Impl, and I think she looks kind of masculine too. I'm thinking that if I ever decide to do something with that head, it'll be a boy. I only have 2 big dolls on my wish list right now, but one of them is Impl Tony. I'm still kind of toying with the idea of a Filraen head that would either share the body with Gabriel or with that Tony, depending on the colour, as I'd like Tony in the regular Real skin. Filraen isn't really on the serious wish list though.

I picked up my packages from the post office and I just had to open them even though I'm not home yet. XD Gabriel's new wig is gorgeous! Now I'm anxious to try it on him and I really hope it fits. It's size 8/9 but it's got a stretchy cap, so here's hoping!

Tony has arrived and I am very impressed with him, had a long and tiring day so will take some photos tomorrow evening or Saturday. The Iplehouse size M3 jeans I got are incredibly tight so think I will have to sew him some loose trousers. The tan resin is a little bit patchy (like he has been heavy handed with the instant tan) particularly on his face but the face-up will cover that. I was just looking at a photo of a newly arrived Iplehouse Rex and they have a similar look to me, I think if vampire John didn't have the fangs he would be very handsome, same with Deborah though I also wish they would make a smaller bust.

 

can't wait to see pics of the first Tony, avrilpaeony! I'm still debating which colour to get Sylvia (head) in - with or without faceup - I think pink with f/u at the moment, but will have changed my mind again by bedtime no doubt....

Meanwhile... New wig and new glasses AND my Eyeco order arrived, so Gabriel is having a very good day today. The wig is going to need some styling, but I already like it better than the Gnaeus default one. It looks pretty much the same in colour and style, although the new one is a bit more curly. The main difference is that the quality of the fiber in the new one is amazing! The default one from Impl was all matted and coarse with 'split ends'. This one is soft like real hair. Unfortunately, it also attracts static like real hair, as you can see from the flyaway bits at the top.

The new eyes are Eyeco 13mm silicone in colour P056. This photo doesn't show them off very well, but I am going to post some better ones in my flickr in a few minutes.

The glasses are from Alice's Collections and are the ones for 1/3 and 70cm dolls. They fit him really well.

Thanks elve! Yes, he really does look different, even with basically the same hair and a slightly more grey eye colour. I think the glasses make all the difference (that and the fact that he's wearing all his clothes today). This is what he's supposed to look like most of the time, when he's not pursuing his career as a model. hahaha...this is the look that says "Oh...you've turned up at my house unexpectedly and caught me reading...and I haven't even brushed my hair!" LOL

 

Wow congrats for your Tony avrilpaeony!I simply love the new Idol dolls, both are quite interesting, i find that male mold is close to Tony
About ears i don't think that ImplDoll sculpted pointy due to IpleHouse, most of ancient skectehs about vampires have pointed ears, i can see that is more linked to some classic influence than something else

 

Yeah... a lot of vampires in literature and books (before "modern" literature) described vampires as having pointed ears. They were shown in classic films as having pointed ears too. I think probably Iplehouse and Impl were both influenced by those sources, rather than Impl being influenced by Iplehouse.
Also, I think John would make a beautiful Lestat (one of Anne Rice's vampires).
I really do love Deborah's face, vampire teeth notwithstanding.

Unfortunately, Impldoll responded to my question and they don't plan on releasing human versions of their vampires I would have loved a human Deborah.

Arekushia - That's unfortunate. If there would've been human versions, I think I would have a hard time resisting both of them.

 

With Deborah, I don't think it would be that hard to file her teeth down a bit.

I'm really impressed with where Impldoll's style is going. When I first saw Tony I had to side-by-side compare him against the Iple guys, the style was so similar. I would definitely prefer one of their dolls, just for the additional jointing alone. My favorite guy is Joshua.

I wouldn't worry about ears at all - my favourite doll (in my avatar....shhhh don't tell the others I have a favourite!) has NO ears - she was an ebay bargain as her previous owner had sanded off her ears, glued a tail onto her backside, and magnets on her head for some 'lovely' *ahem* home made clay cat's ears! My poor girl - I love her more because she was abused and I rescued her But yes in general I find if I have to do a bit of work on a doll, I get far more attached to them than to a doll which arrives 'perfect' out of the box - That said, I hate doing faceups on larger dolls, so when I get 'Rupert' (Sylvia) I think I will get the impldoll faceup.....

I'm not too deep into vampires either. I've read some vampire books like Dracula, nad I really do love Anne Rice's books. I have read a few other books with vampire characters, but it is because I sometimes read urban fantasy and those books often have vampire characters, even if they're not the main one. My paranormal tastes run more to angels and demons instead of vampires and werewolves. But, Anne Rice's Lestat is definitely one of my favourite characters too.

lol elve, I think a lot of us have a favourite. Mine's in my avatar too. That is a great story about rescuing your girl! I find that sometimes I bond more to a doll if I have to do a lot of work on them and sometimes I don't. I guess it just depends on the circumstances. I've done quite a bit of work on my blue Resinsoul Mei, which I bought secondhand, and she is one of my favourite dolls. My Iplehouse Ryan, on the other hand, makes me almost angry when I look at him now. I also got him secondhand, but it was one of the worst transactions I ever had, and he required a lot more work than the original owner led me to believe. Anyway, I am really happy to hear that you 'rescued' your girl, and that she's become your favourite. I always love to hear about stories like that.

First photo of Tony or 'Falco' as he is now called, I know he is not actually a gladiator but he has a definite orange tan from somewhere sunny look and I love the Falco series of books. Will take some better photos when I have more time, I wonder if my Gnaeus head is in the next shipment? Wig by the way is Jo Jo from Monique in 8/9, I love this wig, whichever doll wears it and whatever skin colour it always looks good.

It's really great to see the Tony sculpt without a faceup. Personally, I always get a better sense of a doll's potential if I can see him (or her) blank.
Also...Monique wigs are love. I've got that same style of wig in black and I think it's just amazing. Falco looks great as a blond.

Gabriel looks like a college prof, and I'm not familiar with the Falco character, but even with no faceup yet, he looks hot!

My opinion on the new Vampire dolls. First, I am a fanatic when it comes to Vampires. So far, I have a whole family of them. 3 are Impldolls ( 1 Esther, 2 Akashas), 2 are 5Star Quintas, 1 DikaDoll/Doll Family-A hybrid.
I am very fussy about the shape and placement of exposed fangs and teeth ( I used to work for a dentist...heheheh) and pointy ears.
I know of only 2 OT dolls that have the correct teeth, (and I can't afford either one of them.) As to the ears, I personally prefer the non-pointy or slightly pointed more modern interpretation. However, our wonderful Asian doll makers all seem to go with the medievel wood cut portrait type ears. (I just can't picture Frank Langella wearing pointy ears as Dracula. The only guy that ever really looked good in pointy ears was Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock.) Now, after making you read all this unsolicited material, I will unhappily state that neither one of the new idol Vampires (Drat!) pass my standards, so I will not be adding them to my collection. (John's ears? His choice of attire??)

My Tony should be arriving soon. I can hardly wait. More pictures please! I love them!

Ipledreamer great that your order is already nearby to the dealer!Briefly about Vampire, i'm pretty into Vampire books, novels and sketches, most of them pcituring Vampires with pointy ears in their non human features due also to the link with demons or supernatural creatures in general, that's why i no wonder that most of BJD dolls comes with pointy ears, i agree that sculpt could be different, but maybe ImplDoll go for the most common ears shape

 

I think you are right with John's ears. To me something about them just does not look...right. I mean, the two of them are interesting, they are just not for me. @ avrilpaeony: Your Tony looks gorgeous! And I really like him as a blonde. Well, now the consignment is marked as delivered to Angelesque. Carol said that she is awaiting a pretty large delivery. Thus I think it may take a bit of time to sort everything, and so on. If me and my fellow purchasing people are lucky, they may be sent...next week? So if British mail is a bit faster, they may arrive until end of next week (at least I am used to this speed).

 

yes I'm tempted by Tony too, now I've seen him blank (his default faceup is just too dark and juicy looking for me) I was wondering maybe to do a head-swap with my Marcus....As for vampire's ears well they are meant to transform to bats, according to legend, so I guess the ears are a little bit of battiness left behind! I think they are quite cute really....which may not be the effect a vampire wishes to achieve

Well this thread has been moving fast lately! Congrats everybody on your doll arrivals. Looks like my parcel is lost. I actually had two orders in the same bunch, 4 dolls all together (not all on topic to this thread). I'd asked them to be shipped separately, but the post office had decided to bundle them up, right before losing them. I've started the investigation so we'll see if my Tony ever makes it here.

The new vampire dolls are just amazing. I really love their cute ears so much, lol! I like that they didn't go with the typical pointy shape but created the most adorable ever little ears for them. I am very impressed also about the teeth. I have to say some other companies teeth look like they're holding breath mints between their lips or then a very ill fitting set of false teeth that don't quite fit into their mouth. Impl's sculptor did a very nice job on a tricky feature. I would also wish the Idol girls would have a smaller body and bust option. They are so very tempting but I can't get such a big lady.

Gabriel looks as charming as ever SapphireStargazer! Congrats on his new stuffs.

avrilpaeony your Tony looks lovely. That wig suits him fine. I'm surprised your Gnaeus head wasn't in the carry bag with your Tony. My two extra heads were all stuffed in there with my Gnaeus. I hope you get your head soon!

Your Gnaeus is really handsome, this style suits him very well. The wig is perfect, seems to me that with the curly hair he got quite different look.

I love trying all the possible different looks for him and it's always a wonder to see the transformation. This is definitely one of my favourite styles for him, though I almost jokingly put the curly hair on him at first. To my surprise, it really suited him well.

 

I'm so sorry your dolls are lost Blankqueen - stressful and disappointing for you! Were they ordered direct from impldoll? I hope they find their way to you safely soon, so we can enjoy some more photos! Your Gnaeus looks adorable with blonde curls - Wigs never cease to amaze me with their almost magical ability to change a doll - I've just done the same with a couple of my MSD sized dolls today and they went from being boxed up to maybe sell, to being totally loved and definite keepers, thanks to a couple of new wigs!

I only wish I could fall in love with my Marcus again that simply - but he's just too manly for me I think! Which is of course what attracted me to him in the first place - I can't figure it out at all I'm looking forward to getting 'Rupert' my Sylvia, on a skinny Star boy body - The idol boys are just too hot for me to handle

Meanwhile I emailed impldoll about their website not loading properly, and it seems to be all fixed now - yaaay!

I've been trying to track them but nothing shows up, as if they just vanished into thin air. Oh, and good thing you alerted Impl about the loading problem, that was a drag, lol! Now it does work indeed.

Thanks SapphireStargazer, I should get some info tomorrow from the Finnish post and what they've found out. But I'm not getting my hopes up too much as I'm pretty sure the parcel never made it to Finland. It will be up to Impldoll to start the investigation in China. I'm hoping for the best. Btw, I think this is my favourite pic of Gabriel yet, you should make it into a postcard. Absolutely love the little froggy too.

 

Blankqueen when I lost a parcel from Asia I was told that the sender's post office must liase with my post office, so the sender had to request her post office chase the matter up, then we both just had to wait while the 2 post offices sorted it out (something to do with an international postal agreement) - there was nothing further which either of us could do once her post office had been notified. I did get my parcel in the end - Her post office tracked it down (lost in the UK!!!) and returned it to her, and she asked me if I still wanted it - This took about 3 months in total from when she'd sent originally. I would guess the Chinese NY holidays have caused a problem as everyone has been off work for a fortnight almost - Hopefully things will get back to normal from tomorrow and you may find your parcel!

Oh no! It would be so much easier if the package had made it to Finland! I hope that Impldoll can get the Chinese post to track it down, if it is still in China. I had a package go missing between Korea and Canada last year. Canada Post couldn't find it because it hadn't entered Canadian Customs. The seller in Korea had their postal service track it down, and it turns out they'd accidentally sent it off to the UK. Eventually I got it.
