Poking my head here. I am trying to find a body for my boy. I had him on an April Story Senior Body but I am growing out of love with that body and want to find something similar. What have you guys put your heads on?

I saw someone put one on TD and SD17 in this thread. Would love more suggestions!

Just looking for more 65cmish. I am wondering the resin comparison between Luts because that is an option for me. I like the Luts aesthetic so something similiar. I may consider 2D Doll too but again skin comparison is needed.

 

My guy is on a Switch Humming Dolly body. It was from 2014 so a bit older, but fortunately not yellowed. Ended up being almost a perfect match, and I like the style. Switch bodies tend to be a bit expensive though and hard to find, but they do also have their monthly ordering period so you could always grab a new one if that's the route you chose! I think Illusion Garden has also stated that Popodoll is compatible as well.

Switch is definitely out of my price range. I had my boy on April Story Senior Boy Body but I don't like it too much. I'm sure Switch's engineering is better but they do have the similiar aesthetic.

Oh my god! If Popo works, would it be their normal yellow? Because I had planned to get 2D Doll body for him instead and I just read today Popo doll casts their body for them in their resin colors.

 

I only have Normal Skin heads from this company, but I'd like a WS one but was hoping for one that matches my Fairyland WS body which is a pretty good match for a Soom head of mine. Does anyone know which of those two white skins that they offer are more of a match for Soom WS? Thanks!

I really want to own an illussion garden head, but it’s really hard to get. My order has never got through. Now I give up for even trying.

 

I finally managed to actually get a head! I have two Illusion garden heads, one that I got 2nd hand, and one that I won with a face-up in a lottery, but I have not gotten directly from the company before. I was wondering if anyone knows if they are definitely as strict as they say about being able to change an address later. I am in the process of looking for a new place, but I can't say when that will happen that I'd actually move. I just hope they will be understanding, or I'll just have to try to get the post office to re-route when the time comes if they will :/ That's my only complaint about this company. Even big kickstarters make sure that addresses are confirmed before sending...just in case!

 

Oooh that is so exciting! Congrats. I really wanted to go in for another but the faceup artist who did mine is taking a break, and I wanted them to match haha.
I would honestly email them now and let them know of your potential circumstance. I would hope that if you alert them in advance, and considering the pandemic, that they would be understanding of people's situations.

 

Or have it sent to an address that you know it will be safe until you finish the move, like parents or friends.

 

@Azurielle the problem is they said it can't be changed at all and I was trying to do the form quickly to get a head at all since they sell so fast. My family is not really reliable either. My mom is sickly and far away from me now and my sister just moved and who knows if that will last, and my good friend I thought about asking is possibly going to have to move. I think I will just have to see what they say if it happens and also if they won't fix it, I'll have to contact the PO and make sure forwarding can happen.

I'm currently waiting for my Devil Hades - Reveal head to arrive, I'm so excited! Fingers crossed that Illusiongardens pale blossom skin colour will be a good match for my Volks fair skin bust. I'll post an update here once the head arrives!

 

My Devil Hades - Reveal head just arrived today - the sculpting is amazing, especially his teeth have a lot of depth. And yes, he's a 99% perfect match for my Volks bust in fair skin from 2020. Though his face looks paler in the photo because of the heavy face-up!

There's just one problem... his head is significantly smaller than my other Volks heads xD Does he usually wear an 8-9 wig or can anyone recommend specific wigs/shops for him?

I received my lace white Angelos.Johan from the last order, and he's incredibly pink, much pinker than my friend's 2021 Switch rosy white head.

Anyone have clues on what 2021 Angeos.Johan lace white might match?

@Constance I don't have a Angelos.Johan, but a Devil.Hades head in lace white from 2021. So, far he doesn't match Switch rosy white, Volks white, or Migidoll sugar white. He's pinker then all of them. I have a picture in the Migidoll thread at post 707, /threads/migidoll-general-discussion-pt-4.674774/page-12. Tomorrow I'll check him against Luts real white.

Also, your Angelos.Johan is gorgeous. I'd also like to know what body he's on (those hands look familiar). I love the swan like look of the neck.

 

I just got mine too. Holding it up to dolls I have atm, it's not perfect, but a decent match with doll family H white, and angel Studio pink. I'll check this weekend to see if there's anything else close that I have access to.

 

@Grimalkin, @Cloudedmind, thank you, he's on the Volks SD17 body in the photo! I find that the neck is too thick for the head from some angles, but it was the only body I had with me at the time as I was visiting family. Now that I'm back home, I have him on the Vings 68 body, which in my opinion is a better fit.

 

@Constance - thank you for the ID of the SD17! and, the Vings bodies are also very nice, it's good to know the 68 is an option.

@Cloudedmind - that's really too bad about RW - that was my hopeful match as it also matches DC/DZ peach. i guess i need to look at him in better light. my place is cursed for appropriate light apparently... either too yellow or too blue from the aquarium

 

I compared my Luts real white with my lace white and they could maybe work together. Lace white is a bit darker then Luts' real white. It's a bit more apparent in artificial lighting verses natural light. Here's some phone pics, IG lace white vs Luts real white.

 

has anyone receive any head in cream blossom 2021? I'm considering to get 2nd hand Yuli head and Dreaming Doll body in normal skin to put together. Just wondering if cream blossom has pink or yellow undertone so I can get the right tone for the body.

 

@Quinn.nnp I own a Devil Hades - Reveal head from 2021 in pale blossom and it's more of a pinkish tone, especially when compared to my other Volks dolls. You can see the head on a Volks bust from 2021 in my profile, maybe it can help you somewhat?

 

Hello allllll! Just finished layaway on a white Yuli head from 2020 and so excited. He's on his way to the faceup artist direct from the seller, but i'm wondering if anyone has any tips for a body color match. :') I've heard that it varies from batch to batch of IG dolls, so i'm not sure what to look for. I'd like to have a body set up for him sooner than later, so any advice would be hella appreciated.

 

I've painted a lace white Yuli and his owner has him on a Switch Rosy White body, which they said was less pink than the head but a pretty close match. The owner's instagram post is here. I can't recall which year the Yuli was made though.

 

Hi everyone- I’m not to familiar with Illusion Garden- do they have their sculpts open for order on certain times of the month or is it pretty random? Also, is Yuli limited or do they release him every now and then? Thank you!

 

As far as I've seen, as I like to keep an eye out on them since I love their sculpts, Illusion Garden tends to do small quantity releases every now and then. I saw recently a head sculpt appear on their Instagram that looks like it mighttt be a WIP. There's no clarification though.

Yuli was popular enough that he did have a small rerelease at some point in 2020 but he was limited

I got mine from the secondhand market assuming that since its been a couple of years there wouldn't be another release, reading through this post it seems they do intend to do rereleases though! It's probably just a very small team so it takes a while.

Does anyone have photo examples of the colour difference between lace white, switch's rosy white, and DF-H's white? I currently have a DF-H body on the way special ordered in rosy white (for $80 extra ahhhh) if I knew I'd put an Illusion Garden head on it, I might've kept it DF-H white

I just realized, that I didn't include Switch Rosy white in the picture I provided, but from memory Switch RW is an OK match for IG LW. I remember thinking that IG's LW had more a pinky grey tone compared to Switch's RW. Unfortunately, I don't have the heads close at hand to double check.

Semi-related, Vings is now casting bodies that are supposed to match IG's Lace White from I think the 2021 or 2022 batch? the really weird pinkish gray batch.

It really will depend on what year your illusion garden lace white is from! The one in my picture is a very bizarre color, but I think previous years' lace whites usually match switch rosy white more!

 

Oh yeah I've heard that! I don't have the head yet, I guess the colour will come down to if they rerelease Hades or I see an older one secondhand! With blushing I could also get the lace white to better match the rosey white!

 

Anyone here with Hades/Evening Hades and can recommend a good body for this boy?

Wow! Thought I'd try my luck for Angelos Johan, but the website was SO laggy it took 17 mins for me to get to the checkout page- he sold out as I was putting in my payment information. And I have fiber internet!

 

Had the same experience on trying to snag a Yuli Head! Ended up needing to buy him secondhand.

Honestly I don't know what the stock quantity is but it must be tiny. Also I'm pretty sure whoever is snagging them is probably using bots.

 

Oh my gosh, bots? Really?? I don't know anything about that but it seems like a lot of work just for doll heads. However I did notice that the website didn't lag at all until the 12pm on the DOT. In other sales like this that I've tried for, the site starts lagging just before the release time, because people are already refreshing the page in case the sale opens a tiny bit early. So it was weird that Illusion Garden's site was loading perfectly fine until the MOMENT it was 12:00. I guess that could be suspicious.

Anyway, we'll find out in a few months if a bunch of those Johan heads were bought by scalpers. It sounds like this has been a problem for IG.

 

Yeah, I know there are people who use bots and scripts for lolita fashion brand releases as well. I think the most annoying part is going on secondhand markets the next day and seeing a flood of the exact dress you were trying to get listed at scalped prices.

I'm sad it's basically the same experience with Illusion Garden, especially when she keeps telling people to stop reselling her heads at scalped prices. People who actually want to keep the heads should be able to get them. I really wish she could have her website use a cart reservation system like Angelic Pretty Paris and other sites do. It's so much easier to get the item you want when it's guaranteed a place in your cart for the next 5 to 15 minutes.

Does anyone know what wig size is best for Illusion Garden's Unicorn Yuli/Yuli?
I sent my two Yuli's out to get their face-ups done so I can't measure them myself at the moment but I want to order a wig for them in the meantime so that they have hair for when they come back

I know on the website they list ~8-9inches. So I'm not sure if it'd be better to go for a 21-22cm wig or 22-23cm?

I am so excited I was able to order evening Bane. (I have already failed my new year's resolutions to not buy any new dolls and heads) I love all of illusiongarden's sculpts and have been wanting one for ages but always missed out on the pre-orders.

I ordered him in pale blossom and can't wait for him to get here. Does anyone have any heads in the new pale blossom, and know a good resin match?

which boy had the first cast of the new colours? i think my PB are the older hue. my new ones are WS, and still struggling a bit myself for matches too.

Vings offers (or offered, it's likely they'll still have it when they reopen body orders though) a match to old Lace White. It's not 100% since old Lace White has a gray undertone that the Vings body doesn't have, but with a faceup it's a pretty good match in most light.
