Resin Comparison White Resin Comparisons

    1. Several poeple have been asking about which companies white resins match and as most of my doll collection is in white I thought i'd do a comparison with them all.

      A few notes- some of the resins are older (marked with a red exclamation point if they are older than 2019). They have mellowed and it's possible the company has changed their white colour in the years since so these older whites are here for people looking to match older pieces. I've made note of the companies who's whites I know have changed.

      It was quite difficult to get the photos to be colour accurate. You can see some colour difference between photos of the same resin pieces. The colours also look more stronger against the white paper so this is more of a rough guide to what is in the same area of colour rather than an exact guide.

      Some companies are sister companies and their colours are the same-
      Dollzone & Doll Chateau have matching white.
      Asleep Eidolon and Xaga have matching white.
      A number of Chinese companies such as Myou, Mystic Kids etc seem to use the same resin casters so resins are often close but with slight batch variations in colour.
      Charm Doll and Loong Soul are sister companies but hasn't been confirmed yet if their resin colour is the same.
      Doll Family A & Doll Family H are not sister companies and their white resin colour isn't the same.

      Edit- please feel free to add your own whites and comparisons to this thread. There is a lot of interest in Volks, Switch and Fairyland whites and how they compare to other companies so if anyone has some info on those, it would be helpful to include it :)

    11. No problem! I had taken out some white pieces to compare and I thought why not do all of them while I was at it. It's also a useful reference for me in case I sell something so i'll have a reminder of what the colour was like ;)

      No worries, here's a direct comparison of Dreaming Doll white (rose white) 2021 head against Luts real skin white 2021 (viewers left) and Withdoll rose white 2020 (viewers right).

      The DD head looks a little pinker against the Luts but doesn't look quite as pink as the Withdoll. The difference isn't big so once the face up, wig and outfit is added it probably wouldn't be too noticeable ;)

    17. @Haven_Of_Dolls336 I'll try to get some pictures if Epicari doesn't have any, but real skin white is more of a pinkish white, while zuzu white is chalk/stark white. It almost appears to have a very slight greyish undertone as well. If you've ever gotten a doll from Luts with their doll body pillows in white, zuzu white is that kind of white.

    22. Thank you so much, they're fantastic photos! I really need to improve my lighting in my photos, it looks like the flash bounce technique gives some good results on having everything lit and constant.
      It's great to see some other companies' whites that i'm not familiar with. I've been curious about what Migi's white is like, it looks like you could put it with a Luts rs white body?

    23. @Epicari Yep, and it's pretty easy to accomplish if you've got relatively white ceilings. Just point your flash to the ceiling and that's it. Of course you could do the same if you've got colored ceilings, but then you'd have to be mindful of removing any color cast from the pictures later in post.

      Migidoll sugar white is just slightly more yellow then Luts real skin white, but with a faceup and layers of MSC you would probably hardly tell the difference afterwards.

    25. The body in the Dreaming Doll head pics is Withdoll's Rose White. Here is a comparison between L Monica's white & Withdoll's Rose White and Light Rose White-

      Left body: Little Monica white 2021 (has lost a little of it's original pinkness)
      Right body: Withdoll rose white 2020 (has lost some of it's original pinkness)
      Small body: Withdoll light rose white 2022
      Head cap: Withdoll light rose white 2020 (slightly yellowed)

      I think if you're buying fresh resin the light rose white would be the better match but you could add some pink blushing to the head if you wanted to go with the rose white. A 2nd hand faded rose white body is an option too ;)

    27. I assume you are using a separate flash? My is built in the camera but been thinking of picking up a separate flash as i've been seeing people using the bounce technique with good results photographing thier reptiles etc.
      Good to know Migi can go with a Luts body (or ones from companies with similar pinkish toned whites), it opens up the body options for thier heads ;)

      Wow thank you so much for making this thread. It seems like there is the difference between Asleep Eidolon company photos, and the actual heads.
      I am getting a new Asleep Eidolon doll but I want the resin to match my Volks white skin.
      N is much darker and yellower than I'd like, but B is much too white when I see it in other photos, almost bluish.
      What does it look like to you in real life? Do you by chance have a photo comparison of B, N, and Volks white skin? Or if you have seen Volks white skin dolls, do you know which Asleep Eidolon skin color is closer?

    31. Yes, the Fairy White is a pure white, where as the white is the yellowed toned ivory that Dollzone, Doll Chateau and several other chinese companies use.

      My white is the older one rather than the new 'UV cut' so not sure if the new colour is the same. I've not had any experience with Volks so don't know how thier colours compare. I'm hoping that some owners with Volks and Switch whites might be able to add some photos as I see quite a few people asking about those :thumbup

    35. Looking at the pictures, I'd argue the DFA white is a better match than the DF-H white. You can also ask since DF-H does do some resin matching if they can resin match to LM white.

    38. this is amazing and very helpful! I have a question about DF-A in white, do you know by chance how soon it will start changing its color? I bought DF-A hands a year ago and they still looks very paper white, while my hope was they will change its color more soon to be closer to dollshe pale :sweat

    39. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner! Unfortunately i'm not familiar with Dollshe's resins so not able to advise on that. Maybe someone else might have an idea? I have a few more white resin photos I took this week to add to the thread and they have the DF-A hands in so might show if they have changed since the older photos.

    44. Thanks for this useful thread. Does anyone have a comparison of a more recent Dollstown Fresh or Pale (whichever is closer) against Volks? Ideally the comparison I'm looking for is Dollstown against Maskcat or Alice in Labyrinth, but both companies seem to aim to be as close as possible to Volks which should make things easier.
      A comparison between Dream Valley or Dollzone/DC white against Maskcat, AiL or Volks would help a lot as well.

      Does anyone know the difference between the Kaniboom mia white, the N. PD Quing mia white, and the Ye Zi Xing mia white (or how I can figure out which one my doll will be in if it was just listed as mia white?)

    47. All mia whites should be the same colour. It's a popular resin colour many Chinese makers use to make mixing and matching parts between companies/artists easier.

    49. I found the 'mia white' from the companies you mentioned tended to be a little bit different to each other in terms of strength of colour or being more pinky or more peachy. But generally they were close enough that by the time you added blushing and clothing it wouldn't be too noticeable with a finished doll. It's normal for there to be some variation of colour so it's not one exact colour.

    52. Hello everyone! I'm trying to make a Souldoll Chiron hybrid (in 2025, crazy right?) since I do not like the OG zenith body. I'm on a budget tho so my first choices are the following bodies and I am wondering if anybody knows if they match souldoll white (and do they have good size proportion to the head?). Unfortunately I don't have the head yet, I'm still in the process of procuring it from Xianyu.

      Sprouting Dragon 75cm white
      Migidoll Style68 white

      I'm not sure about Souldoll White, but here's Dollzone White with my other pale resins:

      It's a pale, yellow-toned white. I'm not sure how it ages because my Dollzone body is only a year old and has been kept away from natural light.
      I have the Dollzone 70cm body, so I could try a similar-sized head if you know what Chiron's head circumference and eye size are.
      Edit: The Dollzone 70cm body is all around on average 2–2.5cm larger in the shoulder width, chest, waist, arm length and hips compared to the DoA wiki entry for the Souldoll Zenith 70cm.
      The Dollzone body's neck is smaller by 0.5cm at about 11cm, which is generally a safe range, but I'm not sure about neck length, which can be a factor in hybriding.
      The Dollzone and Souldoll legs seem to be similar lengths, but the Dollzone body has smaller feet – it fits shoes sized for Volks SD13/Gr Boy.

      Thank you for the photo comparison, it helps! My initial research tells me that Souldoll white is paper white but I can't discount the possibility of yellowing since it's a very old sculpt. I should probably wait until I have his head onhand but I'm quite impulsive haha
      The dollzone body I am considering to get is old too so I'm really hoping they are a good match!
      Still also hopeful that someone has a Migidoll milky white to compare since it's currently 50% off >//<

      Oh and I believe Chiron has 22cm head circumference & uses 16mm eyes (probably with a small iris tho since my Federer from the same Zenith line is wearing 16/8 atm).

    55. Well I have a rather recent head (like two years old) and she's definitely not paper white, more of a pink-white like luts white. Dollzone white from my research was a paper white for a while, but recently switched back to a pinker white if I don't have my wires crossed. I'd wait until I have the head before I hunt for bodies so I can see the color better in person.
