WARNING: There has been at least one report of a computer detecting a Trojan when attempting to access the I-Dollstudio website. I didn't have any problems, but I also run script-blocking programs all the time, so I just didn't allow the site to run any scripts when I visited it. So there may very well be a Trojan, and it was just blocked before my regular antivirus software could detect it. Here's a link to the News thread about this doll. English order board - http://i-dollstudio.com/zbxe/EnglishOrder/1430 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, on to the discussion! I really like this girl's body (though her face is too gentle for my tastes - all of my crew are criminals or cops, it kinda puts a damper on the "nice young lady" collecting). It's very reminiscent, as far as the style of the sculpting, of the Dollstown bodies, and so is one of the other heads shown on the site (Islose). Maybe the sculptor is one of Anjonghak's students?
She looks so femine and fragile Reminds me on the Supia girls. I like her a lot, but I dont like the price. I think french resin can be made very opaque too, my Kana is french and she looks nothing glowing... Edit: I dont had any virus varnings on the site O_o...
I looked at her body and went "Oh my goodness! It's a big Zaoll!!!" Which for me is fabulous because I love love love the zaoll body, and to see one at such a lovely size is gratifying.
I'm really liking this girl. She's got a gentle, somber look that is nice and compelling. The body is really nice, and I like the height as well. And I agree with kitsch_brigade, it's like a taller, skinnier zaoll body. Love! I'm especially intrigued by how puffy her lower eyelids appear to be. I'd like to see her in a smaller eye size too.
I'm already half way in love with that face and body... it is reminiscent of the supia/ limhwa/ zaoll sculpts in a good way, I feel. But no French resin for me anymore. I used to love it, but I have French resin dolls from 4 different companies and they all have yellowed extremely from just sitting in a darkened room over the last 18 months - though most of the companies swore it would never be a problem at the time I was buying. Live and learn...^^
My Supia Roda is French Resin and yes she has yellowed, and I am deeply sadden by this. This doll is very lovely, but I am done buying SD size dolls, don't think I could get another Pinky White French Resin doll ever again
I love the body and her height and slenderness are perfect for a girl I have in mind! The head does look somewhat akin to Torre's work, which I like very much. However, if this studio only plans to make dolls in French resin that's a deal-breaker for me. I couldn't get rid of my one French resin doll fast enough when a regular urethane version came out later.
Aah! She looks just like a character I've been pondering about creating a doll for, and her height is perfect as well! DD: But like others, if she only comes in French resin I'll have to look elsewhere.. I've never gotten a French resin doll, but I've heard stories.. ;; too bad, though. She is lovely.
I'm not tempted to buy any more dolls at present, but she sure is stunning. That first photograph is absolutely beautiful. I'm still a relative noob, so I didn't know there were issues with French resin...does it yellow easily?
She's sure stunning and looks so amazing in french resin I just love her body (but sadly not the head ) so I hope to hybrid her or something after my poor pocket recovered from a Soomed condition... p.s. I also don't have any problem surfing the web or find any trojan. But I'm using firefox and have 2 firewalls on though
idolls replied on the news thread. Apparently they plan on doing urethane for the next production, and they want the url you get when the trojan is detected.
I'm really happy to hear they will make this girl in urethane as well in the future, she's so beautiful. The sculpt of her body is amazing, and yes, I am reminded (in a good way!) of Supia, Limwha, Zaoll too. But even more of Narae. This is not because I think she 'looks like' the aforementioned dolls at all though, she's definately her own. It's just that she's a very realistic sculpt and this is still kind of special and rare, and Narae Limwha Supia and Zaoll are the only other female bodysculpts that I know of with that level of realism. I'm happy she's here, she's gorgeous.
I like her. I am happy to wait for urethane resin, and I like that they will sell the body separately. Although I do sort of like the face. But I need some realistic bodies for realistic floating heads.
Ooh, I love her. I've been thinking about a girlfriend for my Domuya girl and I'm really enamored of the Supia girls but they'd be so bitty! This girl's a more reasonable height and has some of the same features. I'd like to see her done in urethane but I honestly don't care; my Narae has yellowed a bit but I love her so much that it doesn't matter to me. Plus French Resin yellows to a nice yellow-toned skin color if you're not blasting them with sunlight. (Just have to be careful about how much skin you're covering...I found that out the hard way by keeping her in boots and a pleather skirt...yeah, she has tan lines now! OTOH, French Resin girls dressed mostly in [p]leather won't yellow much ) This is all hypothetical of course since I have no money.
Hope they fix their website, I really want to see her, but if there is a Trojan virus there, I don't want to chance it just to look at her
I got a virus warning too, but I found it strange because I could visit the site before without any warning. I discovered you will get the warning on the direct link to http://i-dollstudio.com All other pages and http://i-dollstudio.com/zbxe/main are save ^^
I love the sculpt and her body is fabulous....wish the price was as nice. When companies like Dollmore are lowering prices....it's hard to place an order for her when you can get a lot more for the $$$ at Dollmore....
Except that you can't get a body sculpt like that at Dollmore. I'm delighted to read that she'll be cast in regular urethane eventually! *fingers crossed for a nice pinky white*
I'm actually terribly in love with her, and I don't think I'll be able to wait for the urethane! I'll just give her a good coating uv cut ^_^ I also love the fact she has curves, and is a nice 64cm. Some of the 60cm just seem to be too thin ^_^;
Is it just me or is the details of the offer a bit confusing? It looks like the more you order the more you pay which doesn't make sense.
I think how it works is that the first doll is 350.00, the second doll would be 400.00, and so on, up to 4 dolls you get a discount. Makes me awfully tempted to get two . . .. Seems like they also took people's requests to heart, and are offering the urethane now!
Oh, I interpreted the offer/event as: 1st customer buying Byul pays 350 for body & head, 2nd customer buying Byul pays 400, etcetera I thought I wasn't confused but now I am!
I just realized that this is the doll that I fell in love with on the Dollstown board! For those of you who aren't familiar, Dollstown has a Community section in which other dollmakers can post photographs of the dolls they are making. I saw Byul there last year and thought she was amazing, but my attempts to translate the Korean explanation were nonsense. I'm so excited that she's now going to be available in white urethane!
Seems I was wrong It is the first customer that buys her gets her for 350, and the second 400.00 and so on. I was luckily the second person
I just received one of these darlings, so I figured I'd add some more info! She's super heavy first off, so they certainly didn't skimp on the resin! She's got to be the heftiest girl I've ever gotten. She's also plenty curvy, not slim at all. I'm almost going to say, though I don't for sure yet, that she'll fit better in SD13 boy clothes O.O I got the french resin, so she's a peachy pinky white, no air bubbles, not a single flaw. She has a magnet in her head cap. and she holds a pose super well for no sueding or anything. I hope I'll see more of her from other owners on the board!
If she's similar at all to the (64 cm) Flexi Perennials, I can tell you she'll probably fit SD13 boy clothes really well. Domuya girls can wear Domuya Model girl clothes (although avoid the pants, they're too long) and SD13 boy clothes, especially longer-legged ones, and since Byul is the same cm height I bet they fit similarly. I'm excited to see your owner pictures! She's so pretty
Ahh, good to know. I really want to get one sometime as a girlfriend for Regan (my Perennial girl)! The Perennials are so hard to dress because they have massive hips, but they do fit into boy clothes pretty well. Maybe that's what's going on with Byul. Also, lol, I meant Dollmore Model >_< Domuya has their own clothes for their girls too but that's not what I meant.
I'm surprised there aren't any more of these girls on the board. There's only 2 Byuls and no Alices! It's sad, since they're lovely girls, and that body sculpt is love. *edit* While I'm here, can anyone tell me of possible resin matches to I-doll Studio's normal urethane skin?
I've checked out ira_scargear's gorgeous Byul and have decided I need an Alice! XD I might get a Byul eventually too!
I 'd like to show you an Alice also from BJD Club: The image is a link though the forum needs registration. tancredi, her owner, did a faceup. I also would like to say that these girls can be not only sweet but very dramatic, just add the proper faceup )) My Byul (Zoryana) is a real bitch but can be romantic too. I-Dolls are super firm posers and assembled perfectly just out of the box. Hot glue sueding makes them the one of the best pose holders in BJD world (not joking, I had enough dolls in my hands already). During the last doll meetup we discovered that I-Doll normal urethane is very close to Dollcatch normal urethane - we couldn't find the difference with our eyes)) From left to right: Dollcatch, I-Doll, DoD. Also it is close to Luts SSDF normal but more pinky, proper blushing can fix that easily.
Wow, what great pics! I really am in love with these girls. Does anyone know how similar their resin is to Dollmore? (What I'm really asking is how similar they are to that stray batch of Jan/Feb Minimee heads ;D but Dollmore is probably a bit easier to track down.)
Reviving this necro thread as I am rather late to this party, only having just discovered thsi beautiful sculpt. Question for the few I-Doll owners. How does this body pose? So, can she easily sit unsuported? What degree of flexion is there in arms and legs? How flexible is the torso? Also, strange question, but what are the hands like? I always think that the hands are a good indication of the quality of the sculpt and I would suspect, given the stunning realism of the rest of the body, these would also be good. But, I am a bit obsessive about hands and want to be sure.
I don't have one of these girls yet, but the hand sculpt is what sold me on the body back when Andro first posted it on the Dollstown board. She's next on my list, but I'm sure some of the other owners will have input before then.
I have one here to paint for Fairemma and she sent me the whole doll to play with. Her hands are gorgeous! Her body is really lovely, very similar to Peakswood or CP with the two part torso. Her elbows and knees aren't double jointed, but I think with some glue-sueding she'll be a better poser. Just my .02 on the matter.
Can't wait to see how she turns out lyn_r. I would love to see her with really heavy eyebrows. Maybe even a unibrow. But there aren't many Byuls on the forum to look at, nevermind with heavy brows...yet. Is she only available in French Resin at the moment? After the RS Iplehouse Akando debacle I don't think I can handle the thought of anymore temperamental resins in my crew.
I think glue-sueding may be somewhat of a personal preference. I started doing it with my Dollshe guys and it's spread to everyone now. :P I think I prefer my dolls "stiffer" (no wise cracks! LOL). I think the glue --especially in her hips and shoulders-- would help her hold the poses you put her in. Does that help? sylvian - The Byul I have here is urethane...
Thanks again lyn_r. I guess it does help. However, sueding can help most dolls so I'm still not absolutely sure if she is a better-than-average poser who could be fine-tuned, or pretty poor and really needs the help. As I say, my measures of decent posing are ability to sit unaided in a relatively natural way, good flexion in knees and elbows and good flexibility in the torso (bending, twisting, slouching etc). Out of ten, how would you rate an unsueded Byul on those measures? And sylvian, I love the idea of the monobrow!
What size eyes is everyone using for these girls? I know the recommended size is 18mm, but I'm wondering if 16mm fits without gapping? I've been hoarding eyes in 16 and 18mm for this character, but if I continue to do more shopping before I get her it would be good to know.
lyn_r, sorry for being troublesome, but...would it be possible to do a little resin matching while the girl you're painting is around. That would be really helpful!
MadamMauMau, please check these threads: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318865&highlight=byul http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304400&highlight=byul (posing abilities here) Closeup for hands. She has a very beautiful hands in my opinion: Some answers. 1. Yes. She can easily sit unsupported. Also my doll could stand on one foot unsupported, even without hotglue and no Mr. Super Clear on her joints. She was perfectly strung but I sueded her anyway)) 2. The torso is not too flexible and poses badly without hotglue. But after has been hotglued she can bend in all directions, and twist too. Poseability is similar to Supergems - not so brilliant but enough for taking natural poses. I prefer it that way - no gaps or projections but smooth body lines. I should make a photos of her torso poseability... 3. 16 mm eyes are ok but you need to pick the right ones. Dollmore glass eyes (my Zoryana) and Souldoll acrylic eyes (tancredi's Alice) fit nicely. 4. About her skintone... I'm afraid that I-Doll NS is noticeably darker than Dollmore NS and less pinky. But their Paleskin can be closer. If we would have some new Minimee heads in NS here in Kyiv I should compare them... Please feel free to ask me questions if any.
Thank you so much ira_scargeear. That was extremely helpful. Yes, I did wonder whether that 2-part torso was going to be flexible enough. But perhaps the beauty of the sculpt makes up for it. And at least it doesn't prevent her from sitting up. She looks as though she has a big ol' head. I don't suppose you have access to any other girl heads for headswaps? I would like to see if a slightly smaller head looks disproportionate. And, finally, I LOVE your Lazule. One day I will have one. One day...
MadamMauMau, yes, she has rather large head)) Circumference is 22 cm and her face is wider than Lazule's. I may guess that a smaller head may also look good. But neck socket may need modification because her neck is 10.5 cm. And yes, unfortunately I can't do the headswap in the nearest future because there are way more guys than girls here in Kyiv(( Thank you also for the kind words about my Leo
Well, as promised. Here's the posing abilities of the torso. Please take note that she occupies my sofa so the surface is not solid. Bent to the side: Slouch: Bending back: Sitting without support: Sitting cross-legged without support: Twist: She also can stay on one foot but I was too lazy to do that trick yesterday XD so I put her in this pose instead. This requires more solid surface: Hope it helps!
Wow! Thanks again ira_scargeear! That is mavellous. Yes, there is a slightly restricted movement in the torso, but it is enough to enable her to look natural and not ramrod straight. You know what I like most about this body? The fact that the legs in particular are not two strings of spaghetti. She has a nice, natural shape to her that looks good unclothed as well as clothed. Yes. Lovely. Thanks! What size clothes and shoes fit her? I would imagine she is a little broad for standard SD clothes.
Thank you so much for all the pictures and info, ira_scargeear!! These posing photos are great, and shows that you are really taking advantage of the range of motion that she has, rather than trying to force her to do things she is unable to.
MadamMauMau, you are welcome! Yes, she has full thighs, broad pelvis - such a feminine figure. I also like the place between her breasts - just enough for the corset of a certain type. And her back is to die for - even spinal column is shown in proper places! I do not know about fitting clothes and shoes though because I make them all by myself, sorry(( I may guess that Supergem's tops should suit but I'm not sure about pants. twigling, thank you!
I'm getting a Byul and am very excited! I've ordered some Dale Rae shoes for her, and am planning wigs, eyes, name, etc. Please share more pics of your Byul's if you can! :>)
Hello! Sorry to bump a (VERY) old thread, but I've been thinking a lot about I-Doll lately, and it's such a shame to see that all activity about them has ceased. At the moment I am trying to contact Andro, to see if he is still producing dolls. Meanwhile, however, it would be great to revive discussion about these beautiful girls. So...let's chat? Or spam, I'm open to both.
Well I, for one, am glad you did In February I got my Byul back from receiving an exquisite faceup by Angel Toast (her first one, she was brand new). I didn't even take any photos of her yet as, like you say, there wasn't much interest in I-doll on the board. So, I'll take some as soon as I get home from work and share.
