I think I'm finally packed! The hard part was getting everything doll-related into my carry-ons. But my tickets are printed, phone is charged, Kindle is fully loaded with stuff to read. All I have to do tomorrow is exchange the shoes I bought (I thought the dress had brown, not black, in it) and get to the airport after work.

 

Thank you so very much. I should be easy to spot, I'll be the gal with the little dog in the red stroller. You'll recognize my furry diva as Miss Theda herself. OK I gotta go, I'm all packed and will be heading to Orlando first thing in the a.m.

I'm so jealous of those of you who are at this event right now. Oh how I wish I had thought to plan for it as soon as I heard Volks was attending. Let us know everything about how it goes and please take/share pics! Hope you all are having a great time!

 

I'm wondering how early I should get there.
I'm thinking there might be alot of traffic with parking.
An hour early?

 

Registration opens at 8am. Sales floor opens at 9am.

Keep in mind it's Friday and you may run into morning rush hour traffic. Especially if you're taking I-4 through the Maitland area. I went to the hotel last Saturday afternoon and still ran into a few spots on I-4 that traffic slowed down to a crawl. It took me about 25-30 minutes to get to the hotel from Longwood.

The hotel is literally right across the street from the Universal Theme park entrance. The hotel parking is fenced and you have to get a ticket from the machine when you pull in.

 

Well I was at the show today and even though I registered early, I wasn't told that there was a separate sign up for the reception, so I waited around for several hours only to find I couldn't come in without a ticket..

Not sure where you guys were all hanging out, the sales floor was exhibitors only and nobody but myself was hanging around outside with dolls @__@;;

Hope tomorrow goes better than today did, because sitting around alone while everyone else was hanging inside the trade room was a real drag!

 

Thursday is when the exhibitors get their booths set-up in the Sales room and the evening reception event is for Buyers/Exhibitors only. There were a few workshops, but most of the collectors (general public) won't be there until Friday. I think that is when most of the forum members are getting together in the lobby.

Sorry you had to spend the day alone. Tomorrow will be better.

 

I got into town today, went straight to the Doubletree and got my registration packet, then went to check into my own hotel. (I was too cheap to stay at the convention hotel, as nice as it is!)

I thought about hanging out and looking for other owners, but after going to work at 4am, and driving north for 4 hours, all I wanted to do was get some food and relax. I do hope I see some people tomorrow! I'll be waiting to go in when the doors open, with my Volks Emma in tow.

 

I am a registered trade buyer, so I should have been able to go, it was just a failure of logistics and communication that denied me the ability, hence the disappointment.

BUT, you guys are what I really look forward to at shows anyway, so I can't wait to see you all tomorrow~!

 

En route (literally, there's wifi on the plane) and getting more excited with every mile. I don't plan on carrying all of them around with me, but there are six dolls in my carry-ons. I'll probably have my Belle with me first thing tomorrow, have to conquer registration and then queue up for Volks. Can't wait to meet everyone.

 

I'm really excited because I haven't seen any other doll owners in person in about 7 years lol

So looking forward to this weekend!

 

I'm so excited to see everyone, too! Due to real life situations, I haven't really been able to "doll it up" for quite awhile, so I'm really looking forward to it. My Volks Ran will be joining me tomorrow morning, and even though she pretends to be shy, she really does like meeting new dolls.

 

Hey everyonnnnne!

So I am in the middle of packing up to head out to Orlando! Staying with a friend tonight so I can get in line early in the morning for Volks. I ought to be there around 8am so she can get her registration squared away! I'm bringing all my Volks kids (three SDs and two Yo-SDs). Doubt I'll be hauling their butts around the whole time, but they shall be with! Can't wait to see everyone and meet some new friends!

 

Theresa226 and I are here. We just went to Universal City Walk.

Tomorrow evening Friday at 6pm, we are having a doll meet (DOA) members at the hotel's lobby. We shall decide where to go then. We can have dinner together and a photo session.

 

I am so envious! I wish I could go TAT

 

Settled into the hotel, my body isn't going to like getting up earlier than normal but I want to be downstairs early. See everyone there!!

 

I'm in the line-up at the door! Glad I got here when I did.

 

i ended up getting a bad fever and headache so i left at 4 ><; ill see everyone again tomorrow! Its nice being able to put a face to your usernames xD

i cant believe i got to see shadowskin shirou, suigintou and belle, and beast, and reisiner, and the whole volks setup in person~

tomorrow will be a photos taking picture and no buying for me with all the lovely one-offs~ (hopefully i feel okay in the morning)

IDEX was awesome!!! I was lucky enough to get Megu! wow is she gorgeous. Was wonderful to meet so many of you in person. I will be back bright and early in the morning. Sorry I missed the 6:00 meetup, had to get kids to soccer game .

Megu was stunningly beautiful in real life! Photos don't do her justice, she radiates in real life. Haha, I was jealous to see Williams getting a photo taken with her! I wanted to drag out Reisner but I was too exhausted at that time because we were with the doll doctor. Too bad....no photo with Megu. She is stunning.

I am totally glad I shipped off Reisner's box instead of attempting to carry that as hand luggage on the flight. I took out the doll and all accessories including the sword and shipped the empty box via UPS ground. The flight I was in this morning was full, overhead compartments was so full, some passengers were forced to check in their hand luggage. I was not able to fit the SD carrier bag anywhere and had to place it under the seat. It was long and actually not permitted but the flight crew pretended not to notice because they were already trying to pacify those whose luggage had not where to go. If I had carried that box onto the flight, I would surely be asked to check it in as luggage or destroy it. I was sure I won't be allowed onto the flight with that box. I placed the SD16B and SD17 bodies with 3 heads in one carrier bag!

I was so sad I didn't win anything! (it's ok, it was not meant to be XD) Lol but I am so happy for those who did ^^ it was such a blast! I loved Saturday night, I enjoyed dancing way too much lol! Also Mr. Shigeta had won a door prize, of a super cute outfit and he was so kind to give it to me, which is now on my new girl, which I have to find out if she is allowed on doa or not O.o (found out she is! The Mushroom Peddler - Willow the Impling) . Either way, Everyone was super nice, and the dolls beyond perfect. Thank you so much everyone.

I had a wonderful time at IDEX! It was so much fun to meet a lot of you here on the board and especially meeting the amazing Volks staff!! It was such a dream come true!

IDEX was so AWESOME!!! (It was a bit smaller this year... but Volks being there made up for that.)

It was so nice finally meeting the Volks staff. I bought an MDD (Mini Dollfie Dream). I really wanted one of the MSD's that they had on friday, but they only brought TWO to the convention and they were both gone by the time I got into town on friday. On Saturday I bought a history of Volks book, and got both of Mr. Shigeta's kids to autograph it. On sunday I was able to get FOUR of my Volks dolls all fixed up by the dollie doctor.

I got to meet so many people from other companies, and see so many new dolls. I particularly fell in love with the dolls from 'The Mushroom Peddler' and plan to order one (or more) when I get some more doll funds.

Also, I was really lucky all weekend (the luck ran out on the drive home, but that's another story). On Saturday I won TWO raffle dolls (i'll be posting pictures soon), and on Sunday I won a vintage Raggedy Ann and Andy set.

I also got some neat new outfits for two of my dolls, and lots of other goodies (new wigs, bloomers, etc) for ones who needed them.

The best part of the weekend tho, was seeing friends and fellow DoA members, and catching up with everyone. &#9829;

Back home from Wonderland to reality. IDEX was a lot of fun; I really enjoyed meeting you and sharing this experience. Congratulations to all who won dolls, YAY!
Although I didn't win anything, I am so glad that all the money I spent on raffle tickets will be going to great causes. Seeing some of these awesome dolls in person was incredible, and I hope to see them and you again sometime.

I only got a closeup of him late Saturday for a minute when I was packing him up, and I was so busy Sunday that I didn't get time to unpack and play with him before we had to load the car and head home. Now that I got to unpack and play with him, i'm in love!

He's absolutely GORGEOUS!!
