I've always said I'd never buy a doll larger than MSD size ... and that I'd never spend more than a certain amount on a doll Unfortunately Switch's Holy Seolrok ruined both those resolutions at once /lol
“I will never hybrid a doll; it’s too much trouble!” And here I am trying out a hybrid with a rare sculpt that I have exactly zero info on for body compatibility! Woo!
Hahaha I said I would never buy a second doll... I have 5 now XD I guess I'm in the hobby lol. It's very addicting. I have had many "I would never" moments I guess. Usually regarding new dolls, but when you fall in love.. you fall in love right?... '=D
I thought I would never get over my fear of dolls but now I think they're the cutest things ever! I didn't expect that at all. Haha.
Another one that I broke recently...I swore I'd never have a doll that just wore "boring, modern clothes." You see how well THAT worked out!! And there's another modern girl planned!
Ahahaha well, first of all it was buy a BJD in the first place. Then I said I'd just get Nephel (DDP)...that would be enough. And if it wasn't...I'd only get one doll at a time and pace myself. But then waiting for her faceup to be completed I NEEDED a doll and almost immediately bought Lisette (Little Sophia) and Excela (2D Dora). And of course, all at different sizes they needed their own clothes... I'm a mess! And I'm only just starting, haha.
I will never spend more than 400$ on a bjd ( Too late ! I'm currently sculpting my own dolls and the creation price has certainly exceeded that spending limit?) I will never own an alpaca wig (I finally bought one and it was a very good decision, but in the past I always thought they were so expensive!)
I've said I will never have a doll larger than yosd. I now have three msds and another on order haha. I'm starting to get scared of saying those words "I won't ever..." It seems to mean that that is exactly what I'm going to do in the future :P
I am never going to buy any SD dolls I only want MSD and smaller --- I ordered my 3rd SD doll this week.
After getting my two SD girls in I think 2011(?) I had wanted to get boys to go with them in their story. But it kinda died because I had decided that more than two of that size just wasn't the right first for me. So I was never gonna get more big dolls. Then I got my first SD/SD13 boy at the beginning of this year. And then I got his boyfriend a few months ago who is 65cm/SD17. Oops... Ah and I said I'd never buy clothes for my dolls since I can sew and I'm learning more everyday and buying patterns is cheaper. But I do anyway, because I'm not perfect and half the time not even decent. Lol and patterns for some sizes are just too hard to find. Oops I did it again... lol! XD
Yip. I said I would NEVER take my doll out in public. Guess who was my shopping buddy.... he had to give his opinion on fabric! Haha
"I will never buy a girl!" Oh yeah, I did. "I won't get a doll with fantasy parts". Now there's a Sard with hooves in my house. I understood at last that it would be wiser not to say "I will never..." at all.
I had decided I would not buy anymore dolls this year and I would never want a secondhand doll. Well, then I found the exact doll I planned on getting next year on the secondhand market, so there went that restriction. I have zero self control.
Never will I buy a major project. Now I have a headless pukipuki so I'm most likely going to need to diy a head back.
I would never spend $60 nzd on dolls clothing patterns. (They were cute) I would never make a diorama ( I didn’t want something that large for my doll then... the triathlon happened)
I told myself I only wanted 1 doll when I got in the hobby...now I have 2 more and planning on getting another 2 LOL
I'll never have any girls, or anything smaller than 65 cm, and I'll make my own clothes for all of them! .... LMAO
*Never buying an MSD they're too big* I fell in love with the size and never looked back. Their perfect for giving hugs and carrying around for photo shoots. Then I said no yo-sd's. Then I got three of those too with more planned cause Vala's got a boyfriend I gotta bring home eventually. I also said absolutely NO tinies. I got three tinies. It comes in threes. I have two girl MSD's and it's verrrry tempting to get one more and make it three.
i said i would never spend over 300$ on a doll. 2 years later i now have 6 twiglings (999 euro each) no regrets... lol
First, it was "I will only have one doll", but that was quickly changed lol. Then it was "I will never have a floating head, ifI can't have the complete doll, I won't get it". Another was "I will never buy eyes and wigs that I won't use or have no use for yet", and now I have a drawer just for eyes and another just for wigs. "I will never buy non-human/humanoid dolls", yeah I have a few of those now too. There are actually quite a few! Maybe I should stop saying "I will never-" and just let whatever happens happen XD
Mod my dolls. God I wish I never had. I was so gutsy with a dremmel once upon a time. Now I have a doll that I have to repair.
I told myself I'd never buy an SD sized BJD because it'd be too big, but that's the size of the first doll I bought.
I never wanted: -Dolls under 60cm. (Now I only collect small dolls. My Unoa is my only taller one) -Dolls with company face up (only commissioning some artists was the real deal for me... stupid, I know) -More than 10 Dolls (I have now 17 and I will 1-2 more at the end of the month) Let`s see how long the "Not more than 20 dolls until all of them are finished" works!
I said I would never get an MSD sized doll ( I also said I wouldn't buy anymore dolls for the next year ) Well I brought another doll and she just happens to be msd size sooooo Yup!
I told myself I wouldn't buy another doll until all of my other ones are completed. I just bought one and planning to get another two more in 2020
That I will never have more than 1 BJD. I always thought that I'll have only one BJD because I want that doll to be special. Now I have two with 9 dolls on the way.
I only wanted a female SD. Now I have more boy SD's than girls and MSD's, tinies, and an anthro and some floating heads and spare body parts, plus too many wigs and clothe etc.... I only wanted that one girl to sew for and now
Almost everything I thought I didn't care for in the beginning has done a 180 and are things I really love! Fur wigs were something I didn't understand, now every single one of my boy dolls has a fur wig. Acrylic eyes seemed off putting. Like they were a "cheap" alternative to the more quality look of glass eyes. However, I have since abandoned that mentality as I find that acrylics are just as beautiful and can produce extremely vivid and colorful expressions that glass eyes sometimes cannot. And then there are companies that I thought I would never buy from. Not that I hated them (I don't really have any company I dislike), but that the sculpts just weren't my aesthetic. But some of those companies that I never bothered with in the beginning are now my favorites. Dollmore and the CP sculpts from Luts and Fairyland to be specific.
I enjoyed looking up for bjd photography few year ago, but I thought "I will never get into this hobby seriously to the point of buying bjds". However, I have three bjds now, 2 from Luts, and 1 from Switch
I will never have a grail doll. I will never own a doll with small eye sockets. And here I am. My first grail doll being one with small eye sockets, who I have just put on layaway haha I also thought "I will never have to post on this forum!" Well... here we are
I thought after my Twigling I'd never get back into BJD's and I said as much on many occasions...i now own one, with 2 on layaway and 2 planned external to those
I will never mod any of my dolls-- and I oop I will never sell any of my dolls-- and I oop I will never buy a doll over $400-- and I oop I will never buy multiple at once-- and I oop
I did think at one point that I would never use layaway.. ehhh I just hope I stay at one at a time at most!
I told myself I’d never buy a doll over a hundred dollars (Murmur was on the line, but I told myself she was a special case.) But, well...
I said id never spend over 600 on a doll now here I am with most of my dolls either close to or over that price haha
I told myself that I wouldn’t settle the boy’s doll at home, because since childhood I wanted a beautiful girl in dresses with crushers. But several years passed in a hobby, and what do you think? Of course, he lives with me.
i told myself i wouldnt buy more dolls until i have all the ones i currently owned at least with a wig, eyes, and faceup. and then a doll perfect for the character i wanted to shell popped up and i broke lmao. once he gets here that rule is back in place though since only the ones that came w faceups have them
“I will never buy a SD!! They’re too big! MSD is the perfect size for me!” ...and then this morning.......
I saw a doll for 1000 dollars and said I will never pay that much for my doll then I saw a doll I been looking for for years and I paid 1000 for it lol !
I was never going to own more than one BJD; i wanted to have just one and spend everything in the hobby on just him... but now I have another one, a third one on layaway, a fourth one currently in production and a fifth one on its way to me, and a floating head with plans for a sixth doll. I've had my first doll for quite a while now, but now that I'm getting more active in the hobby again, I've definitely broken my promise of keeping it at one doll :v
I will never have more than 1 doll...I will never go over 7...no more than 12, I promise...I will firmly stop at 20, I swear! What am I up to now...39?
I told myself I would stop getting white-skinned dolls because of the yellowing, but I have a white-skinned girl on the way to me and I'm so excited to start working on her.
White-skinned dolls are such double-edged swords! I personally am a big fan of them because I like pale-skinned characters, but they definitely undergo a lot of yellowing! I totally feel you on this
That I'd never get a particular sculpt. That I'd never get a particular size. I'd never buy a particular resin tone. .....so many I've walked back already.......
