I'm now curious what people are saying lol But when it comes to imgur, best rule of thumb is to make your images private (I'm assuming you're hosting the image there and not asking there what the doll is).
Whoops! Just fixed it. Actually, I am asking what the doll is. Trying to do it on Flickr too, but Flickr is balking.
Imgur doesn't really seem like the best place for that, in my opinion anyway. Have you tried on instagram? Was it just the nudity that people had an issue with? (seems silly, since it's just a doll, but people are weird about any nudity sometimes lol)
Yup. There were complaints of "camel toe" and downvotes. Makes me wonder if folks get a case of the vapors every time their kids undress a doll...
Did you ask directly on Imgur which doll it is, or did you use it just to host and by accident didn't make it private? If it's the former, a regular image sharing community is just not really the place to ask such a question
I use Imgur to host my pictures for DOA, and learned very quickly that unless I want to be harassed on there, I need to (1) make the pictures hidden instead of public, and (2) mark any nakey doll bodies with mature even if I censor the image otherwise they'll likely get reported/taken down.
I use a tumblr side blog to host images— I make a post that’s private, then just copy the image address.
Sigh. Everyone's right. I should have known something was up the moment I realized there wasn't a BJD tag... Thanks for your advice. I'll make the photos private.
This is what I do. It makes the images huge for some reason, but it's easy and nobody can see it if I don't want them to. @MaleficentMrsofEvil Have you tried making a thread here? I'm sure the folks on this forum would know, they've surprised me by ID'ing really random stuff.
Lmao imgur is surprisingly toxic unless it's a meme or some junk you're posting to a subreddit. Definitely make sure images are uploaded to the "hidden" category instead of making them a post, otherwise you'll probably get a bunch of stupid reactions or people saying "why is this here???" Even if it's just a video game screenshot, some people post negatively or downvote. It's basically Reddit image hosting or memes that are public. If you're using it for image hosting in general you probably wanna keep things hidden. As for identifying the doll, Facebook groups, making a thread here, or asking on Instagram will turn up much better responses!
Imgur is primarily an image hosting site. There’s sort of a community but it tends to be extremely scattered and pretty abrasive, and 99.99% of the people who see your photo won’t even know what BJDs are. I have no idea why they bothered implementing native commenting and trying to be something other than an image body site. It was originally created to be an image host for Reddit, specifically. Now that you have your pic hosted there, why not take your post to the BJD subreddit at https://reddit.com/r/BJD?
Well, that's imugr for ya. Unless you post cute animal pictures or sob stories you are gonna get kicked in the boots. Regardless that wasn't really the right place to ask for something like that when you have DoA or dedicated fb groups ._."
I'm working with the mods first to make sure the body isn't a recast. I don't want to get banned for accidentally posting images of a counterfeit body. But I promise y'all, as soon as I get the OK, I will definitely be asking here. The amount of collective knowledge here is exceptional. I won't get in trouble with legit manufacturers, will I? I bought the body used without a COA, and it seems legit, but I knew I was taking a risk when I bought it. I figured 2007 was far enough back to avoid the counterfeiting issue (I thought counterfeits didn't really blow up until 2015-ish), but when I joined a local ABJD group, I saw arguments going back over 10 years. Which made me sad. That's an excellent suggestion. I'll do that - assuming I don't get in trouble with legit manufacturers (I really don't want to risk getting banned...). Thanks to all for your very helpful suggestions (and commiserations ). As an official Old, I'm still learning about this social media stuff. (Get those darn kids off my lawn! )
I hate imgur. I tried using it to host pics for a while and a couple times forgot to make it private and immediately got like 20 downvotes in a matter of minutes and comments about it being super creepy or haunted doll. Mine wasn't even nude or anything weird, just a basic doll pics and 1 of them was actually one of my favorite pics I've ever taken of my 05 juri. I don't know, seems like most of the people on there are just really immature
That's funny, funny in a bad way though. Some people would ban anything that is natural. One wonders how they produce children if they are freaking out about a naked body.
