How Old Are You (continued)

Mar 15, 2015

    1. I'm 24 years old :D! Waiting for my first to arrive :3

    2. I was contemplating whether I should reveal my real age, I decided to do so but discovered that I've lost count of my age. After calculations....

I'm 51 years old but not retired :(. I am still working like crazy-crazy. I collect different types of dolls, mostly vintage. BJDs are my only contemporary dolls. I started BJDs in 2008. I am not active in this hobby anymore. I look forward to the day when I retire, I hope to have more time for my dolls. I hope it's within the next 10 years.

    3. Im 24, I have loved bjds from afar since I was just a tween but the cost has meant that only within the last year have I been able to be actively involved in the hobby.

    4. I'm 27, I'll be 28 in November. :) I've been collecting dolls in general for about 5 years now, and bjds for a little less than 2.

    5. Early 30s (though I fool people) but I've wanted a doll since my early 20s! It's only now that I have funds to put aside for collecting

    6. I was 17 when I first discovered bjds and 19 now. I'm happy that I'm not that much younger than most of you guys I had a period when I felt super younger compared to people I followed

    7. I'm 20 now, turning 21 at the end of August. I've been collecting since I was around 16 or so I think :O it's weird to think it's been so long.

    8. Stargazer, I was able to retire at 60 and will never look back. I now have the time to pursue my hobbies. Dolls have been in my life for 25 years and they will continue. That bring me pleasure.

    9. I'm 15 and saving for my first doll, it's hard to save the money since I can't do any jobs (UK)/ my mum won't pay me for odd jobs. I've got £100 so far! I get £10 a week.

    10. Heyy!
I just turned 16! I'm waiting for my first dolls (Myou Grace and Doll Family A Luca). I think it's okay to be a lil younger. I started to research when I was 13! If you know what you are buying, it's okay to buy it! I'm already in love with this hobby and met so many nice people.

      Greetings from germany!
      -Lina

    11. I'm currently 22 (a university student now), but I got my first BJD when I was about 16. Seems like I've been really into this hobby only for a couple of years, though. Looking back, as a teen I had much more child-like attitude (something close to 'dolls = toys', you know), only the fact of having a doll was essential. Now aesthetics matter much more, dolls have turned into art objects to me, and I'm eager to improve my skills in sewing, taking photos of them and painting face-ups.

    12. Glad to see you here! Just had my 63rd birthday. I am retired, too.

    13. Happy that you are here! I am 63.

    14. I'm 21, 22in november, but I started the hobby at 16! Now I don't have to ask my parents' permission and I do face up to raise money so it's easier

    15. I am 66. I only found out about bjd dolls this past February while researching how to knit joints for doll I was knitting --- 6 months later I am simply knitting for the dolls that already come with joints. I have wondered if there are other grandmothers here.

    16. Yes, I am a grandmother. Best thing in the world to be.

    17. I'm 21, 22 in October,I was 19 when I first discovered bjds, but, I collect different types of dolls for many years before, I have 4 full bjd and 3 heads now :)

    18. I'll be 30 next year, I discovered BJD when I was something like 18. I couldn't get one back then, so I make my own out of clay (and horrified my family as I dismembered cheap porcelaine dolls to get eyes and wigs). I was around 22-23 when I finally got my first actual BJD, then two more in somewhat rapid succession. Then I kinda fell out of the hobby for a while, mostly because life was tough and I didn't have the time, but I still made sure to keep my dolls in view, and now I'm happily coming back in the race :D

    19. I am a grandma also, 12 grandchildren with 2 on the way. :)

    27. I am 40 years old. As I can remember I was surrounded by various dolls. The first BJD I bought about nine years ago. For a while I was quite passive in the doll hobby, but last year again my boy.

    29. I'm 19, and my parents graciously support my hobby. They've bought all of my dolls for me! We aren't well off, and we make use of the second-hand market and layaways, but I'm really lucky my parents are supportive. I've only owned my dolls for one year, but I've been interested in BJDs since I was 15.

    30. I'm 20 years old and got my first doll when I was 19. As I mentioned before, I discovered BJDs when I was 12 or 13, but I didn't really know anything about those magical dolls and they were waaay to expensive for me back then xD I spend the last two years with thinking about getting one or not and in the end it was my mom who bought me my first doll because she was so impressed by them ♥ I'm glad that she supports my kinda unusual hobby so much ow<

    31. I'm 25 ^^ I love that this community has such a diverse range of ages in it.

    32. 28, my first doll is on his way to me! Loved them for years though, but I finally have a good job to actively support the hobby.

    33. I am 47, and have been collecting BJDs for about ten years, but only seriously for the last three. With no human kids to worry about, and a supportive spouse, I can spend most of my disposable income on my dolls now. The furry kids (a dog and a cat) are kind of expensive, since we spoil them (including a weekly 'retail therapy' trip to a local pet store for our dog), and of course vet bills, but at least I don't have to worry about how to afford college for them. :)

    34. 19, but I've been interested in BJDs since I was 16. But thanks to our family's income being a bit more stable, and my mom knowing now that it's not just a phase, I managed to get a doll before I got a job. I think Ian's going to help me keep my sanity going through college, too...

    35. I just turned 24 in May and I'm waiting for my first doll to come ^_^ I've wanted one since I was a teenager, probably 13 or 14 years old, but couldn't afford one til now. I'm so excited!!!

    36. I'm 20 and waiting on my first two bjds in the mail!
I've been admiring from afar for about 3 years now (mainly because I felt guilty spending so much money on something for myself) . But I've since decided that money shouldn't control what I do, I should spend the money I earn on things I want.
And that's why I have a Fairyland Minifee Lucywen and Dreaming Doll Little Elva Airi in the mail lol

    37. mid to late 20s *shifty eyes*

    38. I'm 40.

    40. 33, and I just ordered my first doll last month, before my birthday.

Apart from BJD, I collecting anime figures since 2005 ;)

    41. TFW you go to answer and you realize you've gotten your own age wrong by 2 years :sweat Anyhow, I'm now 33 and got my first BJD 12 years ago <3

    42. I will turn 25 in october and I got my first BJD at the age of 21 :) I was very happy that day :D

    43. I'm 24 and I've been collecting dolls(not BJD) since I was a kid.

    44. You are so right...not getting older...just better!!! And what better hobby to keep you feeling young.

I've never collected anything but I'm kinda into dollhouses and miniatures so this was oddly natural step for me.

    57. I'm 23! I got my doll as a gift when I was 15 but I have only really gotten back into BJDs because the hobby can get so expensive!
